Occupying 6 floors selling for those keen in Chinese medicine, clothing, art pieces, cheongsum, etc. Dried goods are pricey, but unsure if similarly priced if bought elsewhere.

Chinese and other Asian confectionery, groceries found at level 4. Was here longer as browsing through lots of nostalgic confectionery parents bought before for us when a child. Memory… Bought some back too.

At one end, Nanyang Old Coffee cafe with traditional coffee, toast and others. Was packed on a Weekday afternoon.

They have some workshops such as couplet calligraphy in lieu of Chinese Nee Year, thus check out their website.

There’re many different kinds of food which imported from China. If you wanna cook some Chinese cuisine, can find most of the ingredients there. However, in overall the price is a bit more expensive compares to other shops on the street.

Yue Hwa has a huge range of products. However over the past 2 years, i have noted they jack up the price for the same product i bought it occasionally somewhere. Example the typical brand of cooling tea which i occasionally founded selling in other super mart was 25% cheaper. The same medication oil for bruise which i found in other stores was abt 15% cheaper. Their products mainly comes from china and taiwan and some products from hong kong.

Reliable shop to buy Chinese herbs and medicine. They also sells all sorts of items such as Asian condiments, sauces, snacks, and teas. It’s a nice building with colourful history, you should go in and explore the building. Take note of the pretty and colourful glass ornaments on the ceiling. They do have SALE of different items monthly, anf I heard their sport shoes sale is quite good.

    *Edited Review:

Thought I’d write another since they’ve just renovated. Looks so posh now. Well decorated and displayed. Makes you feel like you’ve just walked into a smaller scaled version of Tangs or OG. Except when you meet some of the staff. Maybe it’s the same few sales ladies I’ve met since 2 years back?

    *Old Review:
If you are from China and are missing home, this is where you go to to pick up your familiar Mainland food brands. Also sells tea leaves. Packed with PRCs. Expect to be shoved, stared at, spend time fending off pushy sales people and be squashed. Staff are horrible. As expected. All in all, come for the experience or come grab and go whatever you came for.

After reading horror stories about how staff are rude or ignore you, I was pleasantly surprised to find that the lady selling cheongsam at level 2 was very friendly, the gentleman at the wooden furniture section at level 4 was also very friendly. I didn’t take any photos while looking around. The toilets were clean unlike the neighboring OG building. I did not make a purchase this time but I would like to return again soon.

A very fun experience to shop here. There are so many things to see and they have a lot of items.

The food section is pretty big, and has a lot of products that you sometimes can’t find outside e.g. shipped specifically from China. I like to choose some of the smaller food products where you have to put them into plastic bags, and the staff will weigh it for you e.g. $1.29/100g.

I went up to level 5 as well, which is more for furniture and other items such as bracelets with wooden beads. I was pleasantly surprised at how affordable it was, with some being priced as low as $5.

Chinese tradition comes to you in all its splendour at Yue Hwa. Established in Hong Kong over 50 years ago, this leading Chinese department store chain is Singapore’s only department store specialising in Chinese silk, food, tea, cheongsams, antiques and gifts.

The flagship store is a city landmark, situated right in the heart of Singapore’s Chinatown. Housed in the former Nam Tin Hotel and conveniently located near Chinatown MRT station, the store combines both contemporary and original architecture, and features an entirely new extension, screen walls and stained glass skylights, all of which complement the building’s rich historical character.

Yue Hwa offers a wide range of reasonably priced, authentic Chinese products. We also hold regular seasonal promotions, which feature such delights as hairy crab and other delicacies food from all over Asia. Yue Hwa is truly your one- stop shop for authentic Chinese goods.

Beautiful historical building. Opposite to Chinatown MRT station Exit G. There are a lot of products from China and Taiwan. Just came for male Chinese Pyjamas. Very tidy. Get what we want easily. Service was very good. Staff know we are tourists. They told us how to do duty free.
Toilets are squatting style like China.

Founded in Hong Kong in 1959, Yue Hwa is today one of the leading local department stores offering Chinese products in Singapore; from tea to porcelain, silk to bird’s nest, fashion to Chinese spirits and all Chinese food ingredients. It certainly has its fans as customers even queue to get in on weekends.

Built by Swan and Maclaren in 1927, the building was then the tallest building in Chinatown and was known as Nam Tin Building (南天大厦), owned by Lum Chang Holdings. The building housed the six-storey Great Southern Hotel (the first Chinese hotel with a lift), along with a few shops and cabarets that were popular among Chinese travellers. In 1993, Lum Chang Holdings sold the building to Hong Kong businessman Yu Kwok Chun, who converted it to the first Yue Hwa Chinese Products department store in Singapore in 1994.

Located in Chinatown area. This is a supermarket selling various China made or Chinese related products, such as Chinese medications, Chinese displays.
There are 5 levels each selling various products (you can refer to my pictures on the floor plan).
I frequented the tea section, bought a lot of pu-er from here. Also I got some Moutai too.

The staffs are all friendly and approachable. You can go to them to ask any questions.

Joke: I did ask a staff if the store sells Panadol. He refuted me that this was a Chinese store, they didn’t sell western products.
I accepted his reasoning. However, as I was walking around, I saw the store selling condoms…. It made me wondering if the condoms were manufactured in China, or created by the Chinese.

A store worth going to! And so sign up as a member, you will get points which can be used to offset your new purchases.
    Strongly recommended!
