Service staff were exceptionally thoughtful to the elderly members of our group. Ensured that they had a wonderful time dining here.

Food was great, and the favourite is definitely the oyster egg. Fluffy egg with fresh oyster, should have ordered a larger one! Must try the ‘oh-ni’ Yam Ginko dessert too.

Reasonable pricing for the traditional Teochew dishes: pomfret fish, liver roll and jelly pork.

Would surely be back with the family

Authentic Teochew cuisine my great grandmother loves. Its so popular for CNY we have to sit outside. Call early! Ordered suckling pig, pomfret, yusheng, cold dish with pork jelly, oyster omelette, asparagus, Goose, cold crab, And yam paste is a must. Haven’t eaten this style of dishes anywhere before. It is a small family run restaurant and comparing apples to apples it is good value for traditional food as compared to those large scale chinese dining establishments. The vibe is like going to an long standing cramp dimsum place in hongkong for authentic dimsum with fierce no nonsense old aunties serving. Would definitely bring my husband’s grandparents next time.

Even though this place is located in the heart and is underrated, it is a great place to dine! This is because the food is freshly prepared and offers authentic hearty Teochew dishes that you cannot find in most of Singapore. The staff are friendly, helpful and serve delicious food quickly! Although the food may be a bit pricey, I will definitely eat here again. Really worth the money! Of course, I would recommend it to your relatives, friends, and even foreign tourists who want to taste Singaporean culture!

We ordered the jellyfish which was too bland for our liking. We also had the prawn rolls which was alright, could taste the prawns well, and went together with the sweet sauce. The spinach with silverfish was nice and tasty. The oyster omelette was crispy and well cooked. Goose was decent. Orh nee was fragrant, but portion size was slightly small for the price.

It was our first visit. Saw that the reviews weren’t great but decided to disregard and try it ourselves. Glad we did. We are Teochews and the jellied pork trotter is a must for us. It was very good. We also ordered the yam ring, crispy roast chicken and the cai poh kway teow. Random selections, but honestly, they were all good. The yam paste was a great end to our meal too. The staff was efficient and friendly too. Making sure to top up our tea and water ever so often. If there is something to pick, I guess the price. Not cheap. But for good food, anyone will pay. Glad we didn’t take others’ reviews as it is. Sometimes it’s good to try it ourselves.

Some dishes like braised goose and pig trotter jelly were not bad, but the prices are on the higher end for a restaurant located under a HDB flat. Many non-seafood dishes are priced around $50 for the bigger portion (there are only two portion sizes). Always remember to check the unmarked prices for dishes subject to seasonal pricing – they quoted us >$100 for steamed promfret (10+pax). The staff taking the order was gruffy and kept wanting to upsell, but the other service staff were friendly. Restaurant space is quite small so reserve in advance.

    Service was disappointing.
It took them a while to pass us the menu, we even had to ask for it. One staff even sighed when we took awhile to decide our order. Saw us leaving but did not give a basic gesture to thank us and continued talking among themselves. Restaurant was quite empty and service staffs were standing around with nothing much to do, hence the bad service is quite unreasonable :/ Can be more considerate and attentive of guests.

However, food is nice and average-priced.

The food is from old teochew that let you have that old school taste. There are limited tables there so will be good to make a reservation first before heading down. The restaurant is in a HDB old estate and in front is a big public carpark so parking is never a problem. I personally would recommend the fish maw soup and the ornee aka yam paste. The price for the meal wise is slightly higher as compared to the rest. It can get a bit cold for the old folks remember to bring a jacket or something for them. Will definitely be back again.

Very disappointing. Overly priced for an old dingy Teochew restaurant.
Braised goose was ok. But fried vegetables were merely boiled and silverfish was littered on top. Lotus soup was horrible, reeked of ginger.

    Oyster egg was very meh.

Rude waitress was really grumpy. Would advise you to go to the zi char shop in the same block

Fish maw soup and shark’s fin soup are a tad salty. The other soups are delish!

    Fish porridge is two-thumbs up!

4-item platter is a better value than the 5-item version (jellyfish is disappointing).

If you want to order the yam ring, ask them to hold back on the gravy. Tastes and looks like the base of the fish maw/shark’s fin soup, meaning the saltiness overpowers all the other ingredients. And it makes the crispy yam soggy.

As for service, dont expect any, and you wont be disappointed.

No photos were taken as our table of 6 was too hungry. I apologise.

Experience not very good. I came here during lunch hour with colleagues. Food tasted very plain, shrimp not fresh, steam fish over cooked, soup over-powered by Chinese cooking wine taste. Most important of all – serving speed is extremely slow (we are just one of the 3 tables), and both our table and the table next to us are constantly asking them to speed up. We spent most of the time just waiting. Absolutely not suitable for business lunch.
    What I like:
    – plenty of parking lots
    – air conditioned
    What can be improved:
    – food taste need to be greatly improved
    – serving frustratingly slow

Traditional favourites like cold pork trotter jelly, fried prawn roll, fried liver roll, fried crab meat roll, steam promfet, braised goose, sakted vegetables with duck soup, yam paste, cai po (preserved radish) fried kway teow all available here and done well.

Service was friendly, sincere and down to earth.
