The chicken rice is really yummy. Other types of dishes are served too. It’s also air conditioned.
was delicious.
美味しかった。
A good meal with tender chicken, prefectly cook bean sprouts w good wok hey, fried bean curb was good but a little less salt would be better. A little pricey.
Local favourite of mine.. Good value but when is chicken rice not? Many taxi uncle’s agree that this is very good.
Great chicken rice and side dishes especially the prawn Ngoh-hiang
The soup that came with the chicken rice was the highlight. The other items were okay. Not bad not fantastic. A little hilarious that the staff there was trying to skimp on the ginger, chili sauce and dark soy sauce.
…
Chicken meat is dry. Rice is not as fragrant as the ones in the hawker centres. The thai taugua is good but chicken rice is far too disappointing for its price of $6 per plate.
Decent chicken rice served. The pork rib is also good. Service is comparatively impatient but tolerable.
Delicious!
Great and affordable chicken rice, and other zhi-char style dishes as options.
i like this place for their chicken, soups etc
Good place to have chicken rice
They serve free pig stomach soup (just the soup) when you order Chicken Rice. Chicken rice is expensive.
Overpriced chicken rice. For $5, I expect better taste.
The quality is similar to kopitiam standard, but 40% more expensive
Good food at reasonable prices
Friendly serve
Had always driven past this place but never tried their chicken rice so I bought a takeaway once and it tasted pretty good! Today I drove over to have lunch and indeed, the chicken rice they have here is really good! The chicken is succulent and tender and the rice is fragrant! Price is a little on the higher than average side but you’re getting your money’s worth! Parking here can be a hassle as there’s not much parking space so public transport would be able better choice!
Good chicken rice restaurant with Chinese dishes.
Been frequenting this place for a month now (1 min walk from home), very good chicken rice and a lot of variety of other items available for both dine in or takeout. The best part is the soup, its really the best one compared to any other chicken rice store i’ve eaten at.
Only downside is that its a bit on the pricier side, but convenience is key!
I’m an avid fan of Hainanese Chicken Rice . By that , I’m looking at Steamed Chicken.
Amongst good rice, I would rank Far East Plaza Chicken Rice as The Gold Standard .
Well, chanced upon this shop as it happens to be close to where I live . One word- Remarkable !
It’s chicken is juicy and so tender. Pay attention to fine details such as soup and their 麻油。 Good quality really brings out the taste . Go for steamed chicken
A good variety of food and they are very fast to prepare and cook your food upon ordering. A few free car park lots just in front of the shop. Great!
The best chicken rice I know of. Succulent chicken, awesome rice, tasty soup. The other dishes are pretty good as well.
Be prepared to pay 10% service charge and GST for your meal.
We ordered half a boiled chicken and a vegetable dish of baby kailan for 2.
The rice was grainy , not oily and could have been more fragrant. Having said …
Didn’t find it that nice. Average chicken rice.
good. e. son..delicious
goood. e. nak..delicious
Nice chicken rice
Moderate….
The soya sauce for the chicken not as flavourful.
Soup – salty pepper soup
Chicken – normal
Rice – normal, not fragrant
Sambal veg is a good portion but not fragrant.
Chicken (roasted & white) is good! Love their pig stomach soup and dishes are generally appropriately seasoned. Portion and price are pretty affordable as well.
consistently good Chinese food. like their chicken rice, many of their vegetable dishes especially sambal kang kong.
A nice little place with good food. The service is sweet.
tasty
味道不错
Tasty!
great
Keen Fei Tang Today I finally stopped by Yeo Keng Nam Traditional Hainanese Chicken Rice to buy take-away Chicken Rice for my grandson. Wifey and I had been talking for over 15 years that we should try this eatery each time we drove past the area…but didn’t materialize.
Small shop with around 10 tables. At that time only 3 tables were occupied. Could hear some Chinese Nationals talking in the kitchen at the rear. The attendant/cashier was another Chinese National with strong Northern Accent.
The lady chopping the chicken and packing the meals was rather senior in age; rather slow in action and seemed had some hearing problems. The attendant had to repeat order to her a few times. Probably the Northern Accent didn’t help.
While waiting (rather long), I observed the food the eat-in patrons were consuming . Looked pretty nice – sambal kangkong, some curry stuff, etc.
When I opened the packets of chicken rice (one white breast meat and the other roasted chicken drum), they didn’t look appealing. Plain looking, no soy sauce. I wonder if was meant to be, or the elderly lady had forgotten to add.
However, the rice was well cooked, the grains were loose and didn’t stick together. Not oily, hence not so fragrant. Perhaps more healthy.
I wonder if this is how “traditional” Hainanese Chicken Rice should be eaten. But the two packets of takeaway chicken rice @ $13 wasn’t cheap. Hmm… eat for health reason perhaps.
Hey wifey, I think you didn’t miss much. Unless we eat in, more choices.
It’s among the best. Chicken sauce is good, rice is very competent. Chili is just right. It’s all good. Order more.
We accidentally stay not too far away from this restaurant. Both this place a and the eating house next to it have good food. We ordered chicken liver and another spicy eggplant with salty fish, which we both didn’t get to feel the spice at all, and chicken rice (without chicken). Both were delicious! I tried their herbal jelly (black jelly), a bit bitter but comes with a small portion of honey that compliments its taste very well. Nothing to complain. Love it here!
Authentic chicken rice
Decent food but a quite pricey.
Nice chicken rice and friendly staff.
Thr place is not very big but d food is so good. The fish head curry is a MUST, it comes with lots of vegs, ladies finger, brinjal etc, d Chicken Rice (we had roasted) is very gd, d chillie is yummy d Tofu.with sweet sout sauce n shreaded onions n .vegs is excellent. We ordered d abv for thrree people n we had 2 tapau(sp,). It was a most delicious meal.
Friendly and good service.
Open even after others close for business, so convenient. Good chicken rice plus wider menu of bean sprouts & even softshell crab. Delicious food.
If you are looking for the traditional and old fashioned chicken rice, this is the place to go. Also try the chives with roasted pork and the curry fish head. The free soup is a must too if you are a fan of bak kut teh, peppery soups or pig stomach soup.
One of the best Chicken Rice
This is one of my favorite chicken rice… it reminds me of the old Singapore family restaurant.
I ordered the roasted chicken rice with braised egg. The chicken rice was served piping hot. The roast chicken, egg, with the cucumber slices came on a side plate, accompanied by a hot bowl of soup.
The rice was fragrant and savoury, it went down very well with the roast meat. I sipped on the soup quickly but the waiter was kind enough to top up without asking.
The whole meal was $8+ with service and GST. Pricier than hawker fare.
The restaurant is air-conditioned, quiet, and clean. There are parking lots outside the shophouses as well as around the neighborhood.
Other chinese dishes are offered as well if your fancy a more diverse spread than chicken rice.
So so ….
We’ve been eating here more and more frequently. To me, theirs is the best chicken rice.

Solid five stars for the great food! The sitting space is quite tight. Popular. Parking is a problem.
One of the best chicken rice i have eaten. Service is also very good. But the chilli is not very spicy. They also do island delivery. Parking a bit of a problem.
Everything is good here.
The portion is good and inexpensive. Food is really well done. I had a peek into the kitchen and the chefs looked old and seasoned. The restaurant is small and maned by family members (I guess) so the service is quick and good. This is way better than chain restaurants in malls with food prepared by central kitchens.
It’s a hole on the wall, but don’t get put off by the look and you will be rewarded with tasty food.
One of the best in Singapore.
Expensive.
Food not up to standard
Superb chicken rice!
A little pricey but very nice food!
Average chicken rice.
for the price paid, the portion for the chicken and other dishes were very little. Service staff was also impatient
Very good quality white chicken and kailan. Serves pig stomach soup with the rice too
Overpriced
I can easily understand why this is one of the best chicken rice around .
The pieces ofof chopped chicken are doused with good quality sesame oil that no other stalls bear to use .
This is a sleepy little restaurant with one of the best chicken rice in Singapore.
Fragrant rice with rich flavors, the poached chicken is also succulent ,but the sauce they used over it is bit salty. The free soup they serve for dine in’s taste like it’s prepared with pork bones.great tasting chicken rice ,price is high though.
Very traditional family resturant.
The white Chicken was juicy and good. The complementary soup taste sooooooo excellent !! I can finish 2 big bowls.
Best chicken rice n fishhead curry found here !
The chicken rice is pretty good, rice alone is “money”. The Chicken is pretty standard and drizzle sauce – yummy. Portions are quite poor as you can see, but I didn’t enjoy the soup as they served pig intestines soup. Meal for 2 with 2 drinks was about $35.
Since childhood, the chicken rice has never failed me. It’s worth every extra dollar the shop is asking for…
I also encourage diners to try their fish head curry if they have a group.
Happened to chance on this after hearing some good reviews but it wasn’t as good as it claimed. Chicken was rather dull in taste, lacking that pinch of saltiness. Rice was ok. Soup was good. Chili wasn’t below average. Overall, I don’t think I will visit again. Not that it is bad but not what I hope for. Eaten much better chicken rice.
My favorite chicken rice in Singapore. I also love the salted egg pork ribs and the noynya fish head soup. We just came back from a trip in Malacca. YKN’s fish head is much better than the one we had in one of the most popular restaurant there.
Staff is friendly and helpful. They were closing but allowed us to get take away. Much appreciated since we were too tired to cook after our trip to Malaysia.
We usually have it delivered. In this case I suggest to order via their website since order on the phone is a bit more complicated. Not all the staff speaks good english and sometimes it is complicated to finalize the order.
Price-wise it is a bit more expensive than average but it is totally worth it. I prefer to have better food rather than saving a few dollars.
A $5.50 plate of chicken rice costs $5.55 if I use PayNow. Just don’t make sense.
Above average chicken rice. Free convenient parking. Small cosy restaurant.
Best Chicken Rice in town!
Food was not bad. Parking would be a problem though.
Always very nice steam chicken rice
Very nice food and lady boss and staff very pleasant and polite . The food is great !!
The food is good however the current staff who take the online order did not confirm with me on the order and delivery time unlike the previous staff.
Delivery time was not inform untill call in to check 30 mins after order placed and paynow transferred unlike before within 5 mins and found out will deliver only after 2 hours.
The staff doesnt neglected my existense despite standing infront for few seconds and spotted him watching youtube.
After checking on my order, realised condiments is not given.
Staff is not attentive enough.
Very limited parking available here. Food tasted generally average – – nothing bad nothing fantastic.
Chicken and kailan are good. But chilli sauce could be better. Have tasted better chilli sauce at other popular chicken rice shops
The standard has deteriorated and the dishes are generally too salty for my taste.
Very average chicken rice. Restaurant also has a strange odor inside.
Very good food and service all staff so kind with cus
My kids favorite chicken rice… But the price is now $5.10 for 1 packet of takeaway (brown paper wrapped). Getting too costly… Opening bigger door for competition.
not very worthwhile.
Expensive mediocre chicken rice. =( $5.80 only for one small portion of meat and no rice. Rice top up $1. One small portion of liver is normally 50cents or $1 but i was charged $3.80! Ok my fault for not asking for the prices. But.. Really.. Not recommended.. Many yummy value chicken rice all over Singapore. My first and definitely the last time. 2 stars for the friendly waiter
Old customers
老顾客
My usual haunt for chicken rice. Love their chilli sauce and the variety of dishes you can order here. Carpark availability is always the issue, but rest assured, diners can park outside their shop. Else, delivery is available. They are even on the App Store!
Side note, they serve up damn awesome pig organ soup. Peppery explosion
Quite nice.
Pretty tasty food. It’s a homey, chicken rice zi char place. The chicken rice really stands out. Tasty moist chicken. The garlic eggplant was a bit of a let down. Everything else we ordered we finished. Yum yum.
Tasty food but slightly over-priced. Overall, may return to eat again. Best to repeat order to the aunty taking the order as she may be a bit confused.
Love the chicken rice chilli!! Value for money.
I always eat their chicken and fish head curry. Good stuff. Salted egg calamari is great too.
Ok
Good food but parking is an issue.
This little chicken rice stall is rarely noticed when one drives down the road, but the experience it provides when you enter and dine in is lovely. I have visited this place countless times together with my family on Sunday afternoons and the waitress always welcomes us warmly. The chicken rice there is delicious and they are well known for assam fish head curry as well! Certainly worth a try.
Yummy!
One of the best chicken rice ever. Aromatic yet not oily …
Ok
My fool-proof go-to place for curry fish head and chicken rice. I get food catered from here too!
A lot of promos. Free dessert if you spend enough…
As chicken rice junkies, this place has one of the best chicken rice we’ve ever had.
This place has been here for more than 20 years, good chicken rice and curry fish head etc
Love the environment. Great chicken! Haven’t tried the rest of dishes tho. LIKE!
I had Hainanese Chicken rice and it was simply amazing. Place had a nice traditional ambience and service was good. …
I am new to the neighborhood and was recommended by my neighbor. Omg it’s delish, called to order for take away for Mother’s Day lunch n collected in 5 mins – all ready. Even have their own apps for order and delivery too. Everything is so delish even the chicken rice soup. My kids couldn’t stop praising while eating. Will recommend to friends and will be back for more.
One of the best chicken rice in singapore
Overwhelming sesame oil flavour. Overwhelming price.
Authentic (with bones) chicken rice. Other dishes like cereal sotong is very lovely also. Plus they do their own peach juice (not canned!)
Small restaurant but nice taste.
Delicious chicken rice. Excellent service too.
Steam chicken was nice and soft . Portions are quite reasonably big, overall food was good.
Yang Qing Nan Chicken Rice
杨庆南鸡饭 …
Ok
From a person that has eaten chicken rice as a lunch staple, this is definitely one of the better ones out there! Slightly more expensive than the ones you find at kopitiams but the portions are generous! The chili is spicy which gives it a nice kick in flavour and the chicken meat is soft and in generous amounts! They have takeaway options and even delivery options as well! Would recommend.
Too crowded to meet social distancing requirements.
Singaporeans are really picky when comes to chicken rice… would say it’s quite good especially served with their other dishes… but could be a bit of frustration when a bit crowdy…
The white chicken is very good, but the sauce has overwhelming sesame oil. The fish maw soup is surprising good. The fried chill beef is soft tender and flavourful.
Bess
Taste good.
Chicken is very soft.
But the quantity of chicken is different day by day and the chicken soup is too salty.
Food nt bad..but price too ex
Good standard chicken rice.
Difficult to park, I wouldn’t even call it a proper carpark. Choose a good parking lot else u may have difficult leaving(blocked by other vehicle coming for lunch) the carpark. One of the best chicken rice I ever tasted, the soup was nice too. Can give the braised beans and wet tissue a miss, gonna tell them that u do not want them else they will charge, not worth the extra cost. Chicken cost $5.80, rice sold separately at $1.00. The above exclude GST. Pretty pricey if u look at price. However, the portion of $5.80 chicken was pretty decent.
Good quality. On the pricey side.
Food is excellent. But parking very limited.
I ate this shop’s chicken rice almost every day for 20 years. I can tell you without a doubt the chicken here is a far cry from what it tasted like when the original lady Made it.
It literally bad chicken rice. The meat is soft and powdery. Will never come back again.
Food standard has not drop
Ordered takeaway. Contrary to most comments, staff very friendly and helpful. Maybe they have reviewed their business and services since the mentioned incident since.
Authentic white chicken eating place.
So good food! I don’t usually eat curry fish head but when I tried theirs, wow it’s really good! Love all the other dishes I tried.
I went to this restaurant on the recommendation of a friend.
Chicken rice is just delicious.
Especially the rice has a strong taste.
I’m not a chicken rice hunter, so I haven’t tried every type of chicken rice, but this is the best chicken rice I’ve had in my life.
I introduced it to other Singaporeans, but it seems that the chicken, rice, and sauce are all passing marks. (Singaporeans are picky about chicken rice sauce)
The chili sauce is too spicy for me, so I use only a little bit, but I can see the deliciousness.
I ordered soup in addition to chicken rice, but there was also a service that added only soup (no additional ingredients).
Very few staff can speak English.
Nice chicken
Pleasant dining experience, the service and attention given to diners was good. Food wise average, price wise within reason. Overall experience still good.
Good service!
Very friendly and helpful staff..
Love the curry
Came here to try it out after reading reviews of hainanese pork chop.
I must admit the pork chop itself wasn’t too bad and was cooked right at the right places if you know what I mean.
However, the fries were a huge disappointment .
Whole dish – felt way too commercialized .
Price – way too OVERPRICED .
Service – arrogant Staff.
Will I come back again for the pork chop?
NO. Even though it tasted above average.
One Time Customer – not even gonna try the chicken rice even though many others say are nice.
Good food.
Service very good, curry fish head I order are not spicy enough for me. Price are reasonable.
I enjoy the chicken rice. The rice portion is quite small though.
The rice is great and tasty. As mentioned by few other reviews, the chicken on it’s own is so-so. Was served with loads of sauce. Veg dish is ok.
Still coming here after all these years. Chicjen rice is good, but they also sell zichar here, so supplement your meal.
Something unique is the peppery soup they serve with the chicken rice.
Also you can call in to order your takeaway before dropping by to pick it up – very convenient.
We got sideeyed by one staff coz my family took up 5 seats but only ordered 2 set meals. My kids had their lunch prior to the visit and it was off peak. Plenty of seats around so we weren’t holding up any business. We spent a grand total of 15 minutes in the restaurant coz we couldn’t wait to get out of the place! Not much of an impression of the food. Food quality was decent but nothing spectacular. Probably would not go out of my way to visit. The rest of the staff was alright though. Not a great experience.
One of the best chicken rice in Singapore
Good foods and reasonable price, must try!!
Generous portions and nice rice.
Ordered via foodpanda. Prompt delivery. Food arrived hot and was as expected. The chicken seemed to use a good sesame oil so there is a depth to the taste. Likewise, the fish-head curry was good.
it’s main dish chicken might be too dry but other sides are tasty
Delicious Hainanese Chicken Rice. Yeo Keng Nam never fails to deliver a good meal. Chicken stock soup here is delicious, peppery and tasty. Place is comfortable and clean. Staffs were efficient and friendly. Yum!
The chicken rice is superb.
Reasonable tasty chicken rice ($16/half chicken), but average Zhi char dishes. $12/head, a bit on the pricey side.
When it’s 9pm and al the steam chicken rice place had shuttered…
Just come here la
So so
Pretty tasty food. It’s a homey, chicken rice zi char place. The chicken rice really stands out. Tasty moist chicken. The garlic eggplant was a bit of a let down. Everything else we ordered we finished. Yum yum.
Food is good. Not too oily and the chilli is power. Parking limited.
white chicken is the best. Take away order and eat at safra tampines lan shop with my friends
Standard drop, over priced
The food was good and the service was excellent. Polite and friendly staffs.
This place serves more than just chicken rice with a wide variety of dishes. You can dine in at the air conditioned seating area or you could order to take away.
Chicken rice average. Chilli is good. Lots of other dishes.
Standard (great) chicken rice
Love it
Chicken rice is not greasy. And very fragrant.
鸡饭不油腻。又很香。
Enjoyed the food
It’s good and delicious. The chicken is very elastic and tastes good! It’s just more expensive in terms of price. Chicken $6.50 rice is calculated separately, one meal is $1.20
不错很好吃,鸡肉有弹性十足,口感很好!只是价钱方面比较贵。鸡肉$6.50饭另外计算,一个饭$1.20
The rice is nice but chicken portion is pathetic for $6.50 (Takeaway).
Family always love the food and been going over for many years.. Unfortunately suffered bad experience with one particular staff during last visit this month hence the rating.. but other than that, the rest of staff are nice people..
Fair decent. Won’t travel all the way for it though.
Good chicken rice and curry fish head
Old style restaurant. Cosy environment with nostalgic feel. Love the food too.
Food is tasty, but I think there’s alot of MSG! All of us felt super thirsty after dining there.
Be prepared to pay 10% service charge and GST for your meal.
We ordered half a boiled chicken and a vegetable dish of baby kailan for 2.
The rice was grainy , not oily and could have been more fragrant. Having said that you could even just eat the rice on its own. The chicken served over a bed of cucumber slices was moist and tender dressed with a lovely light sauce.
I was impressed with the sauces of finely ground fresh chilli and finely ground fresh ginger. The freshness and lack of oil were a good accompaniment to the chicken and rice. Add in the good quality slightly sweet thick dark sauce and the trio were in perfect harmony.
I was disappointed with the soup which I remember used to be served piping hot, was more peppery and came with pieces of cabbage in it. This time round I could not taste the pepper in the soup and there was no cabbage.
Everything is nice about this stall. From the chicken to the chilli to the rice. I always order breast meat and instead of being tough, it is soft and juicy! Yummy!
Nice chicken rice. But the car park is small.
One of the Top chicken rice stall offering many other types of dishes as well.
Order a whole chicken. It feeds a family of four. Love the fragment rice. Mix it with the black sweet soy sauce, ginger and chilli. The rice itself could be a dish!
Most probably one of the best rice chicken i have eaten in Singapore.
Overall the chicken rice was not bad but dont find it worthwhile to come back again for the price… $9.80 for a single portion chicken rice and a sour plum drink
Fragrant traditional chicken rice. However, the portions are getting lesser over time.
One of the better chickens around. Not exp esp extensive range of menu like Zhi Char stores. Good choice of drinks too… At least non 3 in 1 type.
