Ya Kun Kaya Toast is still my favourite Kaya Toast shop. They do great teh and kopi as well, and prices are reasonable (and even more so if you use their app to essentially get cashbacks). I wish they would enlarge their shop size so as to accommodate more customers, though, as it gets too crowded to find tables some times.

One of the best Teh C Kosong (tea with condensed milk without sugar) I can think of that’s easily accessible if you have craving for it. But it’s really depends on the one who prepares your order. Kaya toast is a must if you want something to fill your stomach.

We knew these place is famous for quick bite. Poor management should understand that due to shop space. Chatting should curb these annoying uncles aunties for taking too much time just over a cup of coffee.

I had accidentally left my EZ-Link card at the counter when I paid for my meal, and one of the female staff found it, kept it safe, and returned it to me when I went about tracing my steps and eventually returned it to me after I described its colour and all. Many thanks!

Additionally, the Smoked Cheese Toast with a side of kaya was a yummy surprise

Yakun @ junction 8 is located at B1. Store is small but staff are friendly and helpful. Most of the time is crowded with coffee lover and retiree. There is a NTUC finest just next to it and many more snack stores on the same floor. Car park is just right outside and its convenient for motorists especially the handicapped.

Far from the best ya kun, not because of the quality, but because of the crowd and how exposed the seating areas are to the high traffic in the junction 8 basement

Ya Kun is my favourite place to get a delicious singaporean breakfast. This branch, however, has been a little disappointing the last couple of times I have been here. Previously, there was a nice uncle at the cash register serving us; but he was struggling to learn the system. His colleague, a lady who was making the drinks, was very impatient and rude to him. Eventually, she reluctantly helped him. This time, the butter was nowhere close to the middle of the bread, which is something that is not too difficult to achieve. Not major, but it shows the lack of care the staff have for this lovely franchise.

The store at J8 is small and hard to manouvre. We found the bread slices to be thicker than the one served at the Causeway Point outlet, but not as crispy. Egg yolk was served broken, but that’s better then disposing it, so wasteful to do that.

Good ol Ya Kun fav comfort food.

This outlet is not too bad though the amount of kaya given for kaya butter toast is inconsistent. The steamed bread is fluffy with enough butter (don’t kid yourself that this is healthy). Tuna toast is ok though savory items aren’t their strongest suit.

    Service staff are conscientious too.

As a Bishan resident, I regularly eat min. 2 food items with my drink. One day, after my breakfast, I opened my pillbox to take my medication pills & supplements. Then the usually sour-faced Cleaning Aunty, came to remove my tray ! As I was busy arranging my pills in the correct order, I didn’t have time to protest & obligingly transferred my pillbox & things onto the table , thinking she needed the crockery urgently. She pulled so quickly that my entire opened pill box OVERTURNED on my body !!! She SAW THIS BUT SHE DID NOT EVEN APOLOGISE & just walked away !!! I had to search for my pills on my clothes & in my handbag. 1 was missing & luckily it was not my HYPERTENSION pill, but my blood pressure was rising at her unkind rudeness !!! I didn’t make a fuss as I pitied an old lady who needs her job, although she had NO KINDNESS for a middle-aged woman who was about to swallow 8 pills !!!
As I got up to leave , I saw my missing pill on thr floor
Now I don’t even want to SEE her SOUR FACE anymore. I will have to find another place to eat my weekly breakfast before heading to the supermarket.
To be fair & truthful in this review , all the other service staff are excellent – in their demeanor , courtesy , efficiency & speed of service . Kudos to them
She is not such a great cleaning lady either. Once I saw a BIG clump of hair !!! All knotted up with dust bunnies , on the floor directly below the drink collection counter – in full view of everyone , but she didn’t even see it !!!

Traditional coffee taste. Bread is toasted and sliced thin. With butter and traditional coconut jam. Hard to find this brown bread. Best combo. Eggs are nicely boiled to a consistent runny whites and yolk. Pick your choice of dark or light soy sauce and a dash of pepper. However only qualm is if u change your coffee with condense milk to evaporated milk, there is additional charges. Will still patron lah.

Nevertheless, the coffee and other toasts here are good and tastes consistent with all other Ya Kun outlets. No worries about the quality. However, the atmosphere in this outlet is not good.
