Very very very extremely cramped and small space. Very uncomfortable to sit on the small hard stools and squeezed in between so many people. Definitely would fail any social distancing measures in place right now,in this age.

Good consistent traditional kopi breakfast. But abit squeezy and hot at times. Meant to replicate the olden times w the true authentic feel in the 70s or 80s I presume……

2 years later. As the saying goes.. do not compare else you will not be contented.. but I beg to differ when comparing food options because it is a must to appreciate offerings… after trying steam bun sets from kopitiams and old town white coffee, I am now very contented with what yakun offers.. the steam bun is so soft and piping hot out of their dim sum basket, the eggs are not pretentious in naming but are big in size and freshness, and their coffee is consistent in their amounts.. for that, it is back to 5 stars

The constant support for local eateries as part of my daily effort. #supportlocal

Here are some of my views about this outlet, generally does not represent the rest of the Yakun and I guess some form of reminder to the outlet to perhaps looking at improvements to both service and ensuring product delivery. I’m trying to be impartial but I think some sort of “complaint” still can’t be avoided.

    1. Breaking the egg wasn’t particularly bad for me, but I guess not wanting to waste the egg. Generally won’t go down well for other customers and also maintaining a good standard isn’t easy. Staff should be self aware and getting by easy with a customer like me doesn’t mean I like it. Just my luck I think.

    2. Teh becoming Teh Si with wrong orders served

Place is extremely cluttered and I know it’s not easy to train staff but Aunty going around gibberish about them as well as not knowing her tone of voice just adds to the noisy environment.

Here are some photos and they did some effort for Christmas deco.

Authentic kaya toast and coffee, great place to have lunch or breakfast and it’s very convenient that this is right next to the train station. However the seating area is quite small and not that comfortable.

Service here is quite bad and many tables are left uncleared. They also do not check on entry if people are dining in so they can restrict the numbers and also allocate tables.

The butter also tasted frozen. Definitely not like the usual Yakun stores elsewhere. But business is good due to the office workers

    The coffee was okay.

I can see why kids like this place. You can hang out. But the food? Meh. The butter toast has sugar in it. The coffee has sugar in it and it’s gross coffee even so. The runny egg is pretty tasteless. I had a better toast on Joo Chiat road at a hawker center. Not a huge fan. Seems like it’s the McDonald’s of toast. To be fair I only tried the flagship toast set.

Usual service and quality which is not bad Only thing is due to Covid measures, I felt the store shld have included at least 1 more 4-seater table instead of the single one. Every other table was 2-seater within the aircon premises; there was outdoor seating where I noticed 1 other 4-seater (maybe there were 2 but cld not see from my viewpt). So if there are 3 or 4 of you, skip this outlet for your kopi/teh and kaya fix !
