Nice place, just very dirty. Whirlpool had debris, cups were mouldy. When we informed them of the mould they didn’t send anyone to clean or replace it nor try to provide customer service asides from sending us 2 small bottles of water, which was obviously insufficient for the duration of our stay!

Perfect for a quiet sanctuary retreat.! Great staff! Fantastic bed! Very clean! Linking up to the Labrador Park and Tamarind Hill for the fantastic Thai food! Unique experience! Will come back again! once the pool is open! The Library can be more interesting or serve more exciting tea break set so people can enjoy this beautiful architecture and environment to really give it a 5 star experience.

This hotel is opened around 2017. The rooms and hotel is build with black and white house concept. You can live like Colonial time people. Rooms are with very high ceiling and surrounded with trees. The price will be high. while the service is the best. Breakfast is combination of buffet and order. During their newly opening period they have free cocktail from 6pm to 7pm for all hotel guest. and a mobile phone to use with any room. Free Data and local calls. I had my wedding in the restaurant and love all the peoples there. Very friendly and helpful. While this place is difficult to go via public transport and there isn’t a proper car park at the hotel yet. It’s still a lovely place to stay.

The staff were very kind and tried their best. The greatest challenge with this nice property is that there seems to be a lack of maintenance and things have been allowed to deteriorate. Some of the design elements also need to be reconsidered if and when they refurbish. We had a good stay and the location is good. Don’t expect too much and you won’t be disappointed. Meals at Tamarind Hill are very good

Villa samadhi is gorgeous and our stay was very Comfortable. We found them through a social media influencer suggestion. True to the reviews they are really a beautiful colonial boutique hotel with balinese/ thailand charm. Located away from Singapore bustle.

    -Cozy cute rooms
    -eco friendly / lovely bathroom
    -green lush garden
    -pretty spacious thai restaurant
    -warm and attentive staff
-loved the breakfast and Thai menu.
    -safe with covid regulations

    Priced well for a short getaway. ( about 550$ for a 2N-stay)
Travel Tip: Book well in advance for your stay , can save a bit. We booked about 6-7 weeks ago and got a sweet deal. If you have any dietary specific requirements, let them well in advance. They are quite accommodative ( we used reference pics to help us with vegetarian recipe suggestions)
Pls add few more vegetarian options in the menu.

Had the opportunity to chat with my bartender Jia Bao during my stay at Villa felt like he welcomed me into his home, which actually gave me good vibes…he was gracious and served us our drinks…he even had a couple of recommendations…he offered to make my wife a special non-alcoholic cocktail which was really very good and impressive…I’m so thankful for our Housekeeper Jaya Letchumi to introduce us to the bartender and for giving us good insights about the place…absolute thanks to the 2 great souls in Villa Samadhi…

    It is a decent place.
Positives: Comfortable bed, clean bathroom, good evening tea and good breakfast.

Negatives: Not kid friendly, too small rooms no space to walk. They say welcome drink part of the package no such thing is provided. Staff are friendly though especially serving staff.

Overall not a bad experience.. for peaceful book readers this place is recommended although there is some construction on opposite road and can be noisy at times.

Beautiful setting hidden away in the jungle – feels like one is not in Singapore. But even better really great service (as usual of small hotels everyone knows you by name) and a lot of amenities like free welcome drinks, dinner vouchers for Tamaring Hill and a beautiful library for reading.

Door locking mechanism a little weird.. The private pool could do with a little more chlorine or a strong water pump system,.. Other than that an amazing experience with nature and hospitality

4 nights 27-30 Dec 2020 : The villa property is a breath of fresh air for a staycation in Singapore. Something unique. The immaculate colonial design rooms are a exquisite. The staff’s service is warm, genial and impeccable – largely due to the hands on approach from the GM, Ewan Taylor. The minutest details and fine touches made a difference to the stay – the turndown service with spiced wine, the cocktail hour, extra masks, insect spray. The bathroom design is spacious and well thought out. The scrumptious English afternoon tea spread was well put together. The local nature reserve wildlife had an interesting ecosystem, providing a backdrop of non city sounds

The worst hotel service ever. They did not inform me that they were still close after sending them two messages inquiring about my booking nobody has responded to me. I checked the website which hotel is open, and their name is on the list. I have no choice but to go for my check-in date, and with my dismay they were close, and nobody can come and explain to me that I wasted my time to pack my things and the three-day itinerary went to waste. Until now nobody has sent me an email or apologise with their awful service.

Thinking of escaping the concrete jungle? Then you have found your place. From the old style colonial buildings, to the various nonya, thai influences sprinkled all around, and to lovely treats like afternoon teas, turn down service with notes, and evening cocktails, you are spoiled. The breakfast is pretty good too, and they even make their own butter and grow their own herbs. Take a walk around Labrador nature reserve for a treat and slowly savor in the fresh air and crickets chirping.

My recommendation: don’t switch on the tv or use your phone. I took a break from it for 2 days, and left absolutely recharged. (My phone was also still fully charged ). This is not a place for young kids, and so parents take note. Don’t whine if they tell you they don’t allow kids in the restaurant and all, I mean – there are a lot more restaurants in singapore that allow that right?

Some minor points for improvement :
    – I stayed on first floor, a bit hard to sleep as the light streamed through. I sleep in a pitch dark environment. I hope they can design the curtains to be black outs sort? I don’t know how it will work aesthetically, but I’m sure they can think of some creative way.
    – the wardrobe is freaking high. Omg. I’m not 2m tall. I didn’t have the stick thing that allowed me to take down the hangers so basically it was left unused.
    – lights along the pathway to restaurant at night. There is just 1 part that is not lighted and has no railings. be careful! But I would encourage them to just add that as my parents are older and had much trouble with that area.

People all deserve to treat themselves nice and here will be a perfect place for those who want to do so in Singapore. Surrounded with nature and bird singing with Japanese-like detail care. Friendly staffs. Walkable distance to nearest MRT station (circle line) and next to Vivo City and Santosa. And the price is reasonable including fantastic breakfast and free cocktail service. I usually used high ranked hotel for quick transportation but really pricy in Singapore. Deserves a try, won’t regret.

    Travels with my laptop

We were there for a staycation and it was perfect for that- lovely colonial style building, beautifully restored and with tasteful furnishings, a romantic walk up to the restaurant and spa/yoga spot, tucked away amongst the trees and cicadas. The bird and cicada noises of the park drowned out the human noises although we weren’t actually of course that far from the road or buildings- in fact we walked 15 min out to the nearest mall to get food once and it was easy. The park itself is a lovely place to take walks and spot sea eagles. Breakfasts on the terrace at Tamarind were quiet and atmospheric. Definitely need to watch the insects, and the wifi is a little spotty, but that’s to be expected given the location and it was fine for a weekend “away from the city! Friendly staff and comfy beds… we’ll definitely be back for another stay when we need a break again!

We did a staycation here for 2 nights and it was a wonderful experience. We were facinated by the history of the building and wanted to experience something different. Villa Samadhi has it’s own charm with rustic decor and cozy spaces. One could spend hours in their library seated next to the window sipping on some tea or could just roam around the property at labrador nature reserve. The tamdrind hill restaurant, with it’s delicious thai food, compliments the vibe of the whole property. Time did slow down for us for these two days and it was definitely a relaxing break. The staff here is super friendly which makes the service top notch. I would certainly recommend this place if you’re someone who wants to escape the city life and just relax, wind down, and recharge yourself.

There was no hot water in the shower for both nights of my stay. The only redeeming factor was that one of the staff, a young Chinese male (I believe his name is Jia Bao) very kindly offered us dinner credits at Tamarind Hill to make up for it, which I really appreciated. However I find it unacceptable for a hotel to not have this basic amenity, given that the room costed upwards $800 per night.

Rest of the stay was passable. I was expecting more from the price I paid.

    – Close to nature, lots to do in the area.
    – Breakfast and dinner at tamarind hill were romantic and food was pretty good.
    – Room was spacious and clean.
    – Hot tub was punctual and always had hot water, unlike the shower.

    – Couldn’t connect to wifi.
    – No bathrobe, which was odd since the room had a hot tub.
    – No table, and only one chair in the room.
    – The room had 2 wardrobes, but they seemed dated. It was much too high for us to hang anything without a tool, and one of them had a bad smell.
    – Not much information about hotel cleanliness. Was especially concerned about hot tub and the communal soap dispensers due to the covid situation.
    – Lights were all individual, manual switches. Plugs were not at an easily accessible location.
    – Bathroom exhaust is quite loud and no black out curtains, you may not like it if you can’t sleep with noise or light.
    – Mixed service levels from staff.

We had such an amazing experience here – love that it is away from the buzz. A really wonderful place to spend some romantic time with your special one. It feels like we are out of Singapore. Love the inclusivity and great service; the staffs here made us feel like part of the big family. I would highly recommend this hotel for all couples to experience a quality and romantic getaway. It is easily a 5-star for us Kudos to Villa Samadhi for the awesome hospitality!

Did not match my expectations. Disliked: mosquito, pls have a second thought before booking. Air-con was leaking water drops to the floor and pit-a-pat over the whole night. The room is not light/sound proof, especially at 1st floor when cars are driving thru, there is a window just above the door has no curtain. No other shop/restaurant/building nearby, hotel’s only restaurant was closed for private event during our entire stay. So the only choice for us was either room service or food delivery LOL. Not all Sarang room has outdoor pool (or called jacuzzi) you have to request for it, although their room description tells you it comes with both indoor and outdoor pools. Indoor jacuzzi is not tiled, just made of pure concrete and therefore some stain on it due to the time.

However, a-la-carte breakfast was good. Hidden location in the nature reserve with nice and easy walking trails (while its location, again depends on personal preference, has pro and con).

    Awful reservation team

Went there for a staycaytion last year, and the reservations team messed up 2 things:
    1. They overcharged my credit card ($900). Once I realised, it took weeks of chasing them to check and release the funds. Which then took more weeks to be transferred back to my account
    2. They cancelled our stay last minute. Just 1 or 2 days beforehand, and asked us to pick a different date!

This year I booked my friend and her bf, a birthday staycaytion. Booked on Agoda and clicked the checkbox to request a bathroom with bathtub. There was no option to book one directly. When I enquired to my friends after the weekend, they mentioned that they had not received a bathroom with bathtub. When they approached front desk to check, they were charged $100 to get one! Even though I had already informed the staff prior that this was a birthday gift, and had followed the only online process to request one. Numerous emails back and forth with June and Ewan (“management team”) who refused to acknowledge that there was anything wrong with this workflow. They kept deflecting to Agoda.

My bad for making a second booking. I use the Amara Sanctuary Resort in Sentosa now (5 star)- same price! Amara’s reservation team is lovely

One of the best hotel in Singapore that I have stay. Smacked right in some remote greenery area near Labrador Park. Staffs are friendly and very helpful throughout our stay. The room are clean, spacious and cozy. Tv channels are limited as you are supposed to rest and relax. Love the fact that there are some chair and table outside your room so that you can chill out there with your coffee and tea sipping the slow afternoon away. The signature evening sundowner experience was absolutely awesome with some wine and nuts for you wine down into the evening. A serene place to rest, relax and recharge. Will definitely be back again to relive this remarkable experience.

We had a late flight and we where offered a room to shower even if we checked out previously that day. They offered free drinks and some snack while we waited for out taxi to airport. Super service minded staff best I ever encountered. If i return to Singapore in the future this is the place to stay , period.
We also had dinner at nearby Tamarid hill, also place for breakfast, which was most amazing and innovative thaifood i have tried.

The perfect weekend retreat. Villa Samadhi felt like a sanctuary away from the bustling city, it didn’t even feel like I was in Singapore! We liked that we could take a leisurely walk to Labrador nature reserve (bring those mozzie patches). Staff service was also top notch, from welcoming us to the room to ensuring we get our fill during cocktail hour (6-7pm). You get to pick from their house fruit-Infused gin, wines, beer or cocktails, and they serve you a bowl of muruku snack so you don’t drink on an empty stomach.

Breakfast at Tamarind Hill next door was just amazing. There was a small buffet spread with the usual yogurt, bread, etc, and small portions of local food like Nasi Lemak and Bee Hoon. There was also a breakfast menu you could order from, so these dishes were made fresh
We got the beef noodle soup, Nasi Lemak and scrambled egg toast, which all came in generous portions and tasted really good!

The room was clean, and everything seemed really well thought-out with little notes left for the guest, and even some port as a nightcap! Thoroughly enjoyed our stay and would highly recommend it.

Villa Samadhi is an excellent little hotel within the Labrodor Reserve. We had a great staycation there in Sarang rooms, equipped with a very comfortable paddle pool/sauna.

Unlike a lot of the more contemporary hotels in Singapore which emphasise a business-travel oriented efficiency and courtesy, what sets VS apart is a genuine warmth reflected in decor, the attitude and behaviour of the staff, which is all very in consonance with the sense of the hotel being a retreat (though the bustle of Singapore is not ALL that far away, really).

Being a renovated old property, there are a few issues – we had to change rooms some times. But in hospitality, I think how people resolve the inevitable problems that crop up is what really sets the best places apart.

Here, the staff went above and beyond the call, and must be given full credit. The adjoining restaurant Tamarind Hill is quite excellent.

And the treks and walks around the Labrador Reserve an absolute delight. Highly recommended.

Overall a very pleasant stay away from the city, exactly the kind of retreat vibes I was expecting. Just expect to go on a low key digital detox because phone internet is not lighting speed anymore up there.

    Some notes from my experience:
1.If you are opting for a Sarang room with jacuzzi, just be patient and the tub will become hot, like really HOT. it was raining the night of my stay and it was perfect
2.Toilet stays really wet due to the pond of water in the jaccuzi, and the exhaust fan install is overpowered and noisy
3.Breakfast was so filling it lasted me through lunch. Personally love the asian dishes ( Beef Kway teow, sambal beehoon)

We stayed last two days ago. A day before I went there to leave some stuffs, Kim was very kind and have a good service. Then the following day came. We’ve check-in early cause they allowed us, then again the high light of the day came. The whirl pool got timmings we understand, but at first it should be warm and it turns out to be cold, I’ve called the front desk and ask, after a while they checked and they say it will soon be okay. Then we’ve waited until nothing happened again. They send a complimentary wine. We’ve appreciate it. Then still the whirl pool is not warm. I’ve called again the front desk and I think they are a bit annoyed cause we’ve keep on calling, as a first time guest they need to understand, the guy offered us to transfer room, but we refuse cause it’s very hassle to transfer another room again even if it’s on the next door. Then we just asked complimentary they are very generous on giving us 1 full bottle of white wine and we’ve appreciate it. But then again the day of the check out, I’ve asked previously if can checked out late
they say can around 1:00-1:30 front desk called before 1 asking us to check out, then I say yesterday I’ve asked they say can around 1:00-1:30. I understand they can say it on a they can say it nicely and not being rude on the phone, tone of voice they needed to learn and how to speak politely on the guest, we go to the front desk asked us to check out and asked us how was are stay, he said okay. Then I really say what we have experienced. Being polite is most important thing of your working on this kind of Industry as Iam working on this kind of Industry as well that why I know. Over all for me was good, the place was nice and very relaxing.

A staycation at this gorgeous mansion is great if you just want to kick back and relax. There’s no malls nearby, just the sound of crickets and lush greenery for companionship. It’s a rare find in urban Singapore. There’s only one restaurant within walking distance, Tamarind Hill – do make a reservation as it is pretty popular.

There is WiFi and it’s pretty bad, but we should be getting unplugged anyway.

This was a dreadful experience. The hotel rejected me because I had an infant with me and they have a no-child policy.

I think the no-child policy is fine and I do not have issues with that.
The problem is when I did my booking through Agoda on 15 Nov, nowhere did it indicate about this no-child policy. Nowhere while I did the booking, not in the welcome message by villa samadhi and also not in my confirmation email by Agoda.

I told the receptionist that I was not aware about their no child policy, but the receptionist insisted that I had missed out their one-liner on “adult only hotel” and that they will not be able to refund me for my stay as this was my fault. At one point, I even had assumed that I had inattentively missed out on their “adult only” disclaimers.

However, subsequently I learned from Agoda that on 15 Nov when I did my booking, their site did not reflect “adult only” because the hotel had only introduced this policy on 23 October and Agoda as part of their processes have a certain time period for them to reflect this change on their site. So this only started to reflect on 17 nov, 2 days after I had booked. Nonetheless, Agoda spoke to Villa Samadhi, and I was refunded 100%.

But the issue is Villa samadhi constantly tried to put the blame on Agoda and that they’re the one at fault. But if it is a new policy that you have implemented, shouldn’t you be checking whether your partners have updated their sites and when they have updated? Shouldn’t you be contacting your guests at least during this implementation phase to inform them about this new policy, in case due to some glitch (like in this case) they are unaware? As a responsible organisation, shouldn’t you take accountability or some accountability of the errors instead of trying to shift all the blame on others?

You even made me think that I had been careless and missed out on the disclaimers. I don’t think I’m an unreasonable person, but I think how Villa Samadhi had treated this incident was shocking and even if they had ultimately allowed me to stay, I wouldn’t have. At least Agoda was apologetic even though they’re not fully to be blamed, and they were transparent with me and informed me the truth. That fosters trust. I am just thankful I managed to find an alternative hotel and Agoda did refund me fully. But truly disappointed with Villa Samadhi.

For someone that looks for a difference, peace, rest and nature! Located in the Labrador Park, two classic well maintained colonial style buildings. You are completely surrounded by tropical trees, flowers, birds and nature. The city is not really far but completely invisible. Good for nature walks, reading, stillness and meditation.

We have our wedding at Tamarind Hill and we stayed for a night at the Luxe Sarang suite at the Villa Samadhi. It could not a more beautiful and cosy setting for special celebration. Nesting inside the National Park, it doesn’t feel like Singapore. The facilities are brand new, spacious, amenities are environmentally friendly and the staff are phenomenal. Just beautiful

Chanced upon this place while looking for a yoga retreat. Had a staycay with my hubby and it’s an absolutely fantastic getaway. The villa is like a paradise away from all the city hustle and immediately relaxes your mind.

We stumbled upon the Bio Electric Meridian Therapy offered by the spa and it was amazing! Therapist Koon Hai is very friendly and skilled in operating the machine. My hubby and I enjoy massages and we felt so much lighter after the therapy.

Villa is a must stay and therapy is a must go!

My husband and I booked the Sarang room for two nights, and it was definitely a decision we didn’t regret.

The room was really roomy, and best of all the toilet was so aesthetically done up, with the indoor jacuzzi pool being the highlight. Our only gripe was that the heating for the jacuzzi pool was turned off earlier than stated (it was stated that the heating would run till 11 pm, but during our first night, it was already off at around 10.30 pm).

The reception staff and housekeeping team were also really polite (they greeted us whenever they saw us) and went all the way to make sure that we got whatever we needed, and I’m glad to say that all our requests were fulfilled.

We are also glad to note that the room was really clean although Villa Samadhi is situated in an outdoor area. We expected to see some insects around, but thankfully, there was none of it throughout our 2 nights’ stay here.

Spent my birthday at this lovely Samadhi sanctuary, decorated beautifully with colonial type fixtures; teak furnishings, monochrome doors and windows, copper water jugs, lofty chandeliers. The rooms smell amazing and the staff go above and beyond to ensure a wonderful experience. Got a lil yam cake for my birthday too.

Had a staycation here just before Christmas. Enjoyed the service and the hospitality of the staff.
However, felt that the pricing for the one and only villa with pool did not match. The interior was little a little dated and needed much maintenance and upgrading. There was no stable wifi at all during our 3D2N stay which meant we could not use any of the Netflix or other app based programmes at all. So we drove out for a movie instead. The pool was not too clean and not sure how often water is changed. There were broken concrete edges around the floor trap. Daughter sustained a small cut so the pool definitely needs maintenance.
Blinds were missing from the toilet cum shower which meant no privacy at all, especially if you are the only man in a family of ladies. But the team solved that after a call with some drapery.

We thoroughly enjoyed our stay as it transported us into nature n didn’t feel like we are in sg with the classic colonial villas. A v romantic couples getaway n just to hideaway with a book.

All the special details at brekky, hi tea, 1hour sundowners drinks & the night turn down of port (so English) really made it felt so special & great value. I think it’s freshly made pineapple jam – v yummy! The laundry svc was a great idea for our dirty hiking gear!

Special thanks to Ewan and his wonderful team & priya’s lovely smile always & Joanna’s kindness! I believe another 5 couples of our friends will be booking to experience v soon!

Interesting experience, I will give the location 5 stars, facility is 4 stars because they messed something up.

In terms of service, sorry I can only give 1 star beside the breakfast, how come you had always been asked what’s your name during the stay while the whole place only has 20 rooms??? And 50% utilized at the day.

Not mentioning they did not give the hotel guest the heads up of restaurant closure at night due to host a wedding, pushing the door rather not knocking when guests are inside, no good morning, can not buy afternoon tea because it was not in the package.

Well, it really feels like a “农家乐”, if you know, you know.

We stayed one night in Villa Samadhi’s Suite Sarang. At +600$ per night, we were expecting a luxury experience but regrettably this was not the case. Definitely not worth the money. One star is for dinner and one star is for breakfast at Tamarind Hill restaurant, which was great.

    Disappointing service:
    – We were informed there would be a crib available for our baby daughter. Turns out this was a misunderstanding from the hotel’s side. No crib available. In hindsight, we should have accepted the hotel’s offer to refund our stay.
    – Check-in to our room was delayed by 45 minutes (2:45pm instead of 2pm) because the jacuzzi hadn’t been cleaned yet.
    – Loud and drunk hotel guests from a wedding kept us up at night.

    Disappointing room standards:
    – Dusty chandelier including spiderwebs
    – Dusty headboard
    – Dust under the bed
    – Spider webs in various corners of the room
    – Dusty surfaces in the bathroom
    – Mold in the bathroom shower
    – Dirt and grit inside the copper drinking mugs
    – Moldy smell from the aircon

Was at Villa Samadhi for a night stacaytion with my friend recently. Loving the environment surrounded by nature is definitely a plus point.
Besides the clean room, I would like to highlight the superb and attentive service by Jian Bo.

A lovely couple quiet hideaway in the midst of Labrador Park – rooms are immaculately clean, water served in copper jugs and mugs for good health, and the welcome afternoon tea with scones and sandwiches was refreshing. Small touches like the nightcap – we got the photo of the Port they served – sooo good, with a little side of muruku at night, and the jacuzzi that turns on at specific timings, made it really special.

Breakfast at Tamarind Hill was really good – go for the beef noodles and porridge. We took advantage of the special guest discounts for dinner at the highly rated Tamarind Hill – every dish is point-on for taste — just indicate if you’d like it a bit spicier when you order as the spice level is mild.

If you like being in the middle of the forest with sounds of Cicadas and fresh air, definitely do a staycay here to get away from your WFH office and from the busy crowds. We did a hike from Lab park to Sentosa first day, urban “hike” at Vivo the next, and another from Lab park to Berlayer Creek the third. We are refreshed to head back for the next work season!

Came here to celebrate my partner’s birthday. We had a great time unplugging from the noise of a typical busy Singapore day and recharging at this sanctuary. Spent most of the time zoning out, eating, and enjoying nature. There is also a beach nearby and Labrador Nature Reserve if you are looking for a short trek. Other than that, there are not much things to do, unless you head over to vivo city or Sentosa which is nearby. Service is great, especially at Tamarind Hill for dinner, and the staff there are warm and friendly!! It reminds me a little of the kampong vibe. LOVED the portions for dinner and breakfast. Huge portion with good food. Even though facilities are less than ideal, with a few mishaps here and there (eg. Broken razor, water not hot enough for shower, stained pillow case), these are minor to us and the staff will do whatever they can to help you out, if you tell them.

Book at your own risk – you may or may not get what you asked for!
Terrible experience with the booking. I had booked for a staycation on 27th Dec with I received a confirmation email and shared my credit card details as well. On the day of the booking, I get a call from the front desk just one hour before check-in to say there has been a glitch in the booking and they can’t offer the room we have booked. When we tried to change the booking to Chinese New Year dates they mentioned again that the room was not available. It clearly seems that the backend is unorganised and the front desk is uncooperative. They didn’t offer any additional compensation except “afternoon tea” – there seems no care for people’s personal lives and plans. The worst experience I have ever had with a four star property. Maybe the service is great once you reach there – unfortunately we never even had the chance to get there.

Ten minutes walk from Labrador City MRT station, in a coastal nature reserve this 24 room hotel is a perfect base for a long or short stay in Singapore.

We ended up staying 16 days and loved every minute; some days, we did not leave the nature reserve for the glass and steel of the centre.

The WiFi is good. I had slightly less than perfect connectivity on the first day which was fixed as soon as I mentioned it

There is a decent sized pool in a clearing in a tropical garden. If you’re lucky, you’ll see a cockatoo. Or, hop on the MRT to Clementi for not one but two Olympic sized, outdoor pools.

The food was excellent. All day, international breakfast and a top notch Burmese / Shan / Thai restaurant.

Room service is available although we chose to climb the little wooden boardwalk through the trees to the restaurant, which is in an equally lovely old ‘black and white’ building, as these are known in Singapore.

The staff are all friendly and eager to help one have the most relaxing stay.

I highly recommend the Villa Samadhi.

Go there. Relax. You will leave feeling happy.

A special mention to Jia Bao and Yi Yao who were genuine in meeting our needs, from arranging breakfast to our doorstep to serving us with politeness during afternoon tea. While it would have been great if there is a swimming pool (under construction), there is much you can do with the villa being close to Labrador Park. Awful customer service. We booked in April, then Covid happened and they wouldn’t budge on their non-refundable policy. We accepted a year credit note, but we asked for confirmation that the year validity would start only when hotels opened back up, and we were ignored. We then tried to claim the credit note in August, and again we were ignored. We then called several numbers, and either got a voicemail or wrong number. We finally got hold of someone by email and got bounced around between three different people who finally told us that booking would be “difficult” at that weekend. We then got a booking confirmation with the wrong dates. We then got booking confirmation with the correct dates. We then get an email TWO DAYS before our booking that they’re not even sure if the hotel will be open due to unfinished renovations. We then get an email at 5pm the day before saying that they “look forward to welcoming us”. We then expect some kind of upgrade or free service, or maybe even an apology from the front desk when we arrive. We receive nothing of the sort. There are cocoons on the wall. A note in the room reframes an ant infestation as “a stray ant migrating”. The pool just outside the room contains dead ants. The biodegradable, bamboo toothbrush was moldy. We had to brush our teeth with our fingers.

The good parts are that the breakfast is tasty, the sheets are nice, and the check-in staff are courteous. But for the price, the customer service dept really needs to get their act together.

Poor customer service. Doesn’t know how to respond politely to customers. Secondly, despite it being a promotion package, with sudden announcements made by Singapore government regarding covid 19 in terms of the group size gathering etc, shouldn’t hotels be a little more understanding in allowing leeway for us to perhaps adjust the booking dates back? Or get a credit voucher for later use?

Apparently, the customer service personnel from the property does not believe in delivering customer service and merely stated: promotion packages have strict T&C and we adhere strictly to it.

We were there for celebration of our wedding anniversary.
The room we booked was Sarang.
We were welcomed by balloons on the bed and a note with my spouse name mentioned, written in a blue pen.
Quilt cover didn’t look very white, slightly yellowish dots were noticed.
When we flipped the quilt cover up, a tear of about 8cm on the bedsheet was found.
The bed had very sandy feeling, as if not clean or vacuumed prior to welcoming its guest.
The highlight – whirlpool – was perhaps the reason we were here.
I was however dismayed when I found at least one of the seatings in the jacuzzi were chipped. One had to be careful not to be cut.
Use the stairs provided to get in and out of the jacuzzi. I almost slipped when I attempted to stand on the red tiles. They should be coated with non slip solution.

So much of the hotel room comments.

Let’s move on to what’s good.

    Afternoon tea snack was provided.
The food was exceptional tasty. Love it. The ambience at the library was relaxing. The only question I have – is how much privacy for the guests staying in the rooms along the corridors to the library.

The unfinished food were left at a tray on the door exit leading to other rooms – I think luxe sarang. I just felt the interior design should have been more thought of, to give guests better staying experience.

Back to the room – we found our pump not working properly for shower gel and hand wash. There was no toothpaste provided. Only crystals for mouth rinse.

Pillows provided were all hard. In fact since the bed mattress was already hard, the villa management should be thoughtful to consider if its guests may need pillows that are of softer type.

They provided wine to us in room. We were touched especially earlier we were told we had to go at selected time to Tamarind hill restaurant for happy hour.

We were able to sleep soundly. The next day was woken up by roosters. No need alarm. I however had neck aching as pillows were too hard for me.

Breakfast at Tamarind Hill restaurant was sumptuous.

Overall experience- despite covid situation, despite under staff, I am expecting that one should do its best to give its guests a wonderful experience when guests come to your premises. I am very dissatisfied on this though I really do love the surroundings – close to nature and the architecture.

we had stay cation at Villa Samadhi in Dec 2020, Villa samadhi is a quaint british era structure found in labrador park. Surrounded by lush green trees, it is a rarity in a concrete jungle like Singapore. The rooms are clean, beautiful and have maintained a wonderful all wood feel. The staff were attentive, cheerful and very helpful. The service alone would be enough for me to recommend booking a room here. The breakfast served at the nearby Tamarind Hill restaurant was fantastic (I would recommend the traditional dishes) and the short walk to the restaurant through the trees was novel.
Highly recommend staying here for a different feel in Singapore.

My wife and I like to stay at boutique hotels and Villa Samadhi popped up for staycations in Singapore. It’s off the beaten track but we’ve been wanting to explore Labrador nature park so opted to try it. We got a fancy room with a small indoor (okay, outdoor but inside the room) plunge pool. The idea was fun to try.

I’ve been to the sister property (Tamarind Hill restaurant; see separate review) a few times so coming here wasn’t a problem. Can’t drive to the front door so somebody comes down to help with the luggage. Then parking is back down the little road and up behind Tamarind Hill. There’s a really nice walk down back to Samadhi. Inside, very quiet and calm. No elevator so the staff helps carry our bag up the stairs as well. It’s a converted building (see their website) so rooms open out to an open corridor. The main room door is a double leaf, and locked (literally) with a padlock. No windows! You enter straight into the bedroom, tiled floor, not very big. Entire back of the room goes to the bathroom area. There’s another double door and two sets of windows. Inside that area is your wardrobe, coffee maker, etc. as well as the usual toilet, shower, sink.

Then another door out to the backyard, which is under a tin roof. There’s a small table and a couple of chairs – good to sit down and read but a bit humid given that most of the space is taken up by the plunge pool. This is a kind of a jacuzzi as well as there are jets but it’s big enough to swim in :-). And you can adjust the temperature so soak as well. We liked it a lot and played in the pool for quite a lot of the time we’re there. I think most people who return would be for the pool! The rest is more quaint than anything else.

The stay came with a tea which could be served in your room or taken in the lounge. We opted for that as the bedroom doesn’t really have a seating area/table and the poolside was too humid. The lounge was really nice, and you walk past the bar to get there. But during COVID, the bar wasn’t running though we could get some drinks served to us. Food was carried down from Tamarind Hill and wrapped in plastic. Not great for the stuff that doesn’t do well under plastic! It’s a timely old-fashioned place – we liked it but it may not be for everyone.

Breakfast is also included (choose from a menu) and can be had in room, in the lounge or walk up to Tamarind. We did it twice in the lounge and once walking up and highly recommend taking the walk. Early morning walk is great and the food is nice fresh. At that time, sundowners were included but you walk up to Tamarind Hill for that and get a couple of drinks (chose from menu) and relax in the front lounge. We had mojitos, and other stuff I can’t recall. Okay to relax but also okay to skip. But don’t miss the restaurant – we loved that! See separate review.

Service staff (front desk and in the lounge) were always pleasant with a smile and willing to chat. They always tried to help you and we had a pleasant time engaging with them during tea, etc.

Overall, we had a good break, had an interesting time in a very different place, and had great access to the park and walking along the Western waterfront (also not to be missed). Would we come back? Not sure…my wife doesn’t like the fact that the rooms have no windows. Maybe that’s why we hung out in the pool 🙂

I spent 2 nights at this accommodation and the easiest way to sum it up is that I really want to say I liked everything about my stay, but sadly that wasn’t the case. So the positives – the property is beautiful and the location is tucked out of the way. It truly feels like you’ve escaped to Cambodia or Thailand. The food also is excellent. But unfortunately, what could have been a truly memorable stay was let down by poor service. From the moment we arrived, the front desk was inattentive, service was disorganised and frenzied with many instructions to sign this and that, and no introduction to the property at all. At the room, again, no basic introduction to the room which might have been helpful to the staff because then they would have noticed that apart from towels, we had zero amenities. Not even toilet paper. Which meant I had to call several times for these missing items. When I enquired about the welcome drink, I was told it would be served with our afternoon tea. Again, no one told us when and where afternoon tea was and we had to ask. At the tea itself, there was no welcome drink unlike what was promised. I didn’t even have a choice of tea and had to request to change from what they had given me. On the second day, as we were going out, we saw the neighbouring room being cleaned and assumed ours would be next since we were leaving. But when we came back 2 hrs later, no housekeeping had been done and we were informed that housekeeping is done at a fixed time when we called to ask. Yet the housekeeping staff showed up in 5min after we called.

The staff are clearly improperly trained for the hospitality industry, which is what lets this place down.

Great place for couple to enjoy pure couple time. Staff are so friendly and pampered us with so many complimentaries that it is worth more than what we paid for!

Old colonial style set in beautiful surroundings. Helpful and friendly staff, great restaurant and comfortable rooms with hardly a high rise building on sight.

Booked the hotel online for X’mas thru one of the booking platforms. Paid close to $600 with the hope that there will be a in-pool inside the booked room. But, there wasn’t and the hotel mgmt simply pushed the blame to the 3rd party booking system (where there were pictures of pool inside. Furthermore, was informed by the staff that the open pool was also under construction. Air con in the room was not that cool. Car parking was a quite a long walking distance (at least 400m away) and have to walk on creaking wooden bridges… Was not really a good X’mas. The plus was the restaurant and loved the greenery around the estate. Careful where you park your car, insects could creep in….. its been 3 days, I still see insects in my car, need to fumigate. Wont be coming back here ever, hotel mgmt don’t understand importance of ‘Customer Expectations’ or ‘Service Recovery Policies’.

Villa Samadhi had not failed to impress from the moment I entered the hotel till the end of my stay here. I wanted a place to hide away from the city hustle and Villa Samadhi offered me the sanctuary I was looking for. On top of that, the staff were friendly. I really enjoyed my stay here. Thank you.

This place the the go-to place in this hectic coty of Singapore when everything is so fast paced. With its unique furnishings and the simplicity of the rooms, its just the place to chill.

With the hi-tea provided, the evening free flow of cocktails, and the before sleep wine and chocs, it really is the place to spend time with your loved one.

For those that are keen to go on a track or run, there is Labrador Pack.

If you think of spending quality time, this is the place.

A blast from the past. A very rustic feel with a very traditional atmosphere. The service is good and very pleasant, ensuring that your needs are attended to. The location is a bit out of the way, but is perfect for a peaceful getaway and it is close by the park and a historic site of Singapore if you care for some history.

Wonderful boutique hotel. Aimed primarily at couples seeking a retreat. No facilities. The room and the park setting is all the facilities that you need. Wonderful setting, a great staycation.

Priya at Villa Samadhi Singapore made our stay special. She was very friendly, went above and beyond to make sure our free breakfast was served to us in bed due to us having jet lag. The amazing rooms and jacuzzi was also the highlight of the stay.

The cherry on top was that Villa samadhi being situated near a nature preserve made sure that we are far removed from the hustle and bustle of city life making our stay very zen and calming.

Took a walk around the premises after dining at Tamarind Hill, a Thai restaurant connected to Villa Samadhi. Samadhi is simply a spectacularly rustic-themed boutique hotel that won’t disappoint if you’re looking for a getaway surrounded by authentic colonial era inspired architecture and furnishings.
