definitely not one of toast box’s better outlets but it did satisfy the need for a snack. It’s location is also very conveniently located near the rail corridor and it was one of the more affordable stores to have a drink. Was quite upset that there’s no more multigrain bread for thick toast

The kaya thick toast and the kaya toast are just HEAVENLY. And the coffee is good. However, I fell kopi C kosong is too diluted when iced.
They have quick service and everyone is very friendly and nice.

Solid chain store offering light bites to actual meals as well as tea or coffee. Decor here has a vintage vibe and may feel kind of nostalgic so that can be a comfort. The shop has sort of an open air setup, so it is reminiscent of dining at a hawker center in a way. I like the toast and eggs. I also like the patrons here, good people going about their day with a calm and sensible attitude. It isn’t fancy but it is homey. Stop by for a cuppa some time!

One of the places where I can get a reliably good cuppa tea. I love the tea, which is never too siap (dry?) but smooth on the palate.

My usual order is a teh dilok siew dai jia si (tea straight up, no added water, less sweet with additional evaporated milk – complicated order I know – try it some time!) and it takes real skill to balance the milkiness (less sweet means less condensed milk, so the guy needs to know how to make up for it with the evaporated milk – not too much not too little), and the dilok without making it too overpowering.

Good place for a morning coffee and traditional kaya toast, but your staffs need some motivations. It’s either they are overworked, underpaid, or understaffed. They’re super fast in preparing orders and attending to us, but seems like they’re gloomy in the morning doing the same thing over and over again tired of the previous days work yet manage to keep it together.

Hopefully I can see some smile in their faces next time I’m visiting here.

Good place to drop by to grab a bite if you are in the area… especially after hiking the various trails i.e. the Green Corridor and Bukit Timah Nature Reserve. There’s a Cold Storage which you can pick up some groceries after a meal. But very limited parking spaces. Can get very busy on weekends as there are several tuition centres along the stretch and the congestion is quite bad… especially when you arrive coinciding with the start or end of tuition classes

Great place to have afternoon tea in a quiet and relax ambience. The Pork chop sandwich is fantastic, the kaya butter toast is deliciously toast to crispness with butter oozing out. Parking used to be free and easy but not anymore. Patrons must take note to park only on the right side of the road which are nearer to the shops and not at the left side (double yellow lines). Parking warden very active.

Staff are always shorthanded, unable to complete customer orders with quality especially after they started accepting grab orders.

For example, toasts are not fresh/ done properly, high order volume causes staff to miss out on customized orders.

Suggest for them to revisit labor planning and training, especially revisit online order fulfilment capability.

Unfortunately, I have to give a low rating to this one.

First of all, the food is expensive. Their local dishes easily cost twice as much as their hawker counterparts. Now, this wouldn’t be a problem if it tastes better than the latter. Sadly, it doesn’t – arguably it may taste even worse. Even their kaya toast is subpar yet pricier.

Secondly, the malfunctioning equipment. We waited twenty minutes for our food (which is fairly long for simple toast) – only to realize that they were prepared. The buzzer they gave us did not ring. Why bother having these buzzers when they don’t work properly or use them?

Toast box in general is by no means a terrible place to get food (otherwise I would give it a single star). But there are many better options out there which taste better and cost less. Ya Kun or even hawker centres are better when it comes to kaya toast. And you’re better off getting those “local favourite dishes” elsewhere too.

Coffee was diluted, worse then the already mediocre coffee I’m used to at Toast Box. The laksa used mee tai mak, without any option of thick bee hoon. This substitution was NOT advertised in their menu. Was a very unsatisfying lunch. Plus the table was wobbly. Only saving grace was some interesting rail-related decor suitable for a shop at the Rail Mall.

It’s undoubtedly one of my favorite breakfast joints after clocking a good trek at the Bukit Timah Reserve. Though there is nothing much special about the food served rather than being healthier ️ than most other joints, but the coffee with condensed milk sets it on another level. Today ordered for the Prawn Noodles Set, newly introduced and I really liked it. The broth, though very light, was well flavoured and easy on the stomach and left me wanting for more. It’s always worth it here.

Mee Siam Update: One of the very famous dishes in Singapore, finally ordered and tasted it here today and just loved it. It was very well prepared with the right notes of tangy and spiciness. Could have had one more serving but need to keep a check on the calorie intake.

Pork Chop Sandwich: I wanted something light yet savoury. However though they tasted good, it could have been more juicier.
