Toast Box is a Singaporean chain that replicates the kopi from the kopi shops at the hawker centers. Is absolutely delicious and more if is accompanied by a crunchy butter toast (with real butter, thick like a piece of cheese). If you add the half boiled eggs, the menu is completed and is one of the best memories of Singaporean food. If you like kaya (the jam made of coconut), you will love the kaya butter toast.

Located in Bugis Junction but it is facing the road and it has Outdoor seats. Crowded during lunch peak period. Tried its Drumstick Braised Pork Rice Set $12.50. It comes with a slice of cake of your choice and a beverage. Drumstick is fried, chicken drumstick’s skin is slightly crisp. After ordered then saw it Bak Kwa Fried Rice will try it during my next visit. Service-wise is good.

The earliest place open for a cuppa coffee with aircon. Wasn’t so happy with the new packaging of soya sauce and pepper (corse) Unlike the bottled type. Felt the pepper didn’t go well with the half boiled egg. Will go for the “normal” coffeeshop for half boiled eggs with the whole packaging of bottled sauce and pepper.

One of the big Coffee Chains in Singapore which I like for the consistent taste (consistently sweet if you order the kopi). Its convenient located but the queue can get really long at times. Pricing is also 1.5X more expensive than other places. I would pick this over Starbucks, but any coffeeshop’s coffee would be of more value than here.

    A true Singaporean favourite.

Great place for a cup of coffee and light snacks.

The place is situated in Bugis Junction opposite the Bugis Cube, and offers indoor as well as patio seatings.

The seatings are for a group of multiple individuals. It is a self service eat-out cum cafe place, wherein you need to collect your own order and head towards the seating area.

The coffee are made with traditional utensils and the barista juggles them in front of you while the coffee is made.

    Try their Cold Coffee.

Usually crowded cos visited by mostly tourists. Some of the food items are nice but others is a miss. However, the cleanliness of this place is questionable, with their tables stained with food & drinks with food remnants remaining on the tables. Staff only remove the used crockery but don’t bother to wipe the tables which is not acceptable due to hygiene reasons. This seems to be the case for most of their outlets. It seems laziness and lack of hygiene seem to prevail among their service crew. I wonder if this is the kind of training they are receiving…

The coffee is good but not the KAYA toast bread, the 2 pieces of toast bread are so pathetic small. The toasting process has been shortcutting. The bread was not heated enough to melt the butter. They are not passion in their work. Just to quickly serve the foods. Not worth to pay $5.7 for a cup of coffee, two half boiled eggs and two small pieces of bread. This will be my last time patronising Toast Box.

Limited choices but still a good place to go for breakfast or afternoon tea or for a catchup. Prices are reasonable for a local cuppa and their softboiled eggs and bread/ toast options are so fresh and enjoyable

The food is pretty authentic, but tbh i noticed the chicken curry set, chicken pieces (which is already pretty small, i.e. 3 pieces of chicken wings, only the wing part no drumlet) has been decreasing in size. Today I ordered the chicken curry set, and was probably given the tiniest chicken I have seen in my life, with the 3 chicken pieces the size of my baby finger and mainly bone, total rip off.

Well, as there is no seat inside aircondition are so I have to sit out. Bad outdoor seat as many people smoke beside us. If no smoking allow, it is great to sit outdoor. A simple set meal for just $5.70 + GST is ok. The bread is not too hard, fit my taste bud. Business is doing good so don’t think it will close out moreover toastbox is strong financial company so this store can still last long. Today is 17 August 2020 Singapore Covid-19 Phase 2.

    3.5 stars.
Environment: Very long queue for order and pay on Sunday Morning. Very packed indoor. — 6.5/10
Service: No service charge. Find a table and line up to order. Self service. Advise to return food tray to the front desk after used. Acceptable waiting time for food. — 6.3/10
Food: Price ok for quality and good portion. Normal presentation.
    – Laksa set, $9.1: includes a cake (choose ftom the fridge) and iced Barley Drink 薏米水. Good value. Laksa has 2 prawns (good quality and size), Tofu puffs, fish cakes, bean sprouts, noodles (銀針粉 that’s not traditiona), and a half hard boiled egg. Laksa soup was ok. Small Chocolate cake and large size of iced barley drink was just average. — 7.4/10
    – Traditional Kaya Toast set $5.9: standard portion. More butter on toast. 2 Soft boiled eggs. Not bad. — 7.2/10

This is a lovely Toast Box outlet located along the road side with both indoor airconditioned seating and outdoor seating available. Service is prompt and they make sure you check in before you place your food order if you are dining in. This outlet offers a variety of food and beverages, and even light bites like tau sar pia. Can get pretty crowded at certain times of the day and noisy if you’re seated outdoor.

Pretty standard breakfast fare with a few options. I enjoyed the toast with tuna and chilli. We got the eggs semi solid which to our western palettes were runny.

Service standard in Toast Box varied quite a bit in different outlet. Just witness a usual not polite (personally) reply when a customer asked for some condiments.

Side note : half boiled eggs are best eaten with either light or dark soya sauce and pepper. Toast box removed a light soya sauce open a few years ago.
