I visited the shop Thomson plaza to buy my nativity church , the service from the boss was excellent and he is such a kind soul. Would recommend anyone who wishes to visit the shop , they have beautiful collection.

Visited on a Monday afternoon, a calm & peaceful shopping and dining experience. The simple architecture design meant one could find one’s way around unlike some newer interconnecting malls. There is a number of dining choices from cafes to restaurants. The Thomson line and buses are right at the door step. Would like to see a departmental store but a sizeable NTUC is available for weekly shop.

Small shopping mall, that has improved after their recent renovation. Not much variety of shops here, but you still can find most necessities here. And the F&B variety has improved, you get more and better selection compared to before the renovation. A mall mostly for nearby residents.

I’ve been going here Back when it was yaohan to old Thomson Plaza and now newer revamped Thomson plaza..

It’s a nice chill simple family mall. Quiet enough to enjoy the place without the typical crowd. Love it.

Thomson Plaza suffered during the major construction of the North South corridor. Am amazed at how they have bounced back! Kudos to the property management team for bringing life back to this mall.

A wide selection of food eateries can be found with essentials (eg Daiso, NTUC Finest and Pet Lovers Centre).

Due to renovation, place is noisy and dusty. For those staying nearby, the NTUC Finest Fairprice is well stocked with probably one of the widest range of organic food for your choice .

Well, what can I say? It’s gotten much better than 5 years ago? With more variety of eateries. However, still lacking in shops selling clothes, shoes, etc. I am referring to those popular brands…nope, you won’t find them here.
It’s more convenient / accessible now with the TEL station. …

An old mall with addition of a new wing. Mixture of the older and new. Lots of food and restaurants. Have a large supermarket here. Usually crowded as there are no other malls in the vicinity. A little inaccessible compared to amk hub that kind.

Old shopping center with limited number of restaurants, one supermarket big enough for you to find what you need.

  33. Avatar photo

A very homely mall. It’s never too crowded and often not too empty that it feels like a ghost-mall. Lacks entertainment, like a cinema, but there was recently cow play cow moo which is decent size.

  34. Avatar photo

I loved it before it got a revamp, but after seeing it now, I LOVE IT EVEN MORE. I like that they kept some of the old shops to add a bit of retro to the overall modern style of the mall. The outside, that looks really old, is just a facade, hiding the true beauty of the mall behind it.

It’s an old mall but since the major renovation, it serve the residents well with all the essential needs. There is a big fairprice finest, a few hair salon, a very clean kopitiam food court, a few restaurants and cafes, a pet store, guardian and Watson, popular, snack and bread stores as well as a Starbucks just outside the mall. Great place to shop and eat if you want to avoid crowded place.

A quiet shopping center, it’s not the newest place, and the location is very hard to get to due to the lack of public transportation. However due to that, you have quality services for the restaurant. Parking is hard que to the small carpark space.
There is ntuc here which is the finest supermarket. There is toilet also very clean and big

Upgrading still in progress at the front, as well as some areas inside, especially second floor.

The first floor are mostly completed, with many new eateries up and running. In addition, The toy shop located that used to be on the second floor have moved to first floor.

Do stop by and make a visit when u all have the time.

Update as of 8 Sept 22,
Most of the shops and eateries are operating and expect large crowds on weekends and weekday evening.

The opening of the Thomson East Coast Line, coupled with the bus services that are already running, makes Thomson Plaza more easily accessible for those who are travelling by public transports.

The underground walkways also link to many other eateries in the area.

Went there today and found that major renovations are going on from now (Sept 2019) till possibly late 2020. A huge chunk of the first floor – the main entrance from the carpark till the nearest escalator – and the corresponding section of the second floor are out of commission, removing the food area, Unity pharmacy and quite a lot of shops. However, FairPrice is still operational and is accessible via the second floor entrance.

It was my fave mall when I lived nearby more than 20 yrs ago and it’s still my fave! Lots of eateries now. I like the boutiques that are still around for their good quality and fashionable selection. FairPrice, food court, restaurants, cafes, pharmacies, Daiso, banks, salons etc. all within the small mall. Human traffic just right as not overly crowded.

Old fashioned shopping center with fantastic food and NTUC

  58. Avatar photo

It’s quite an old mall. There was not a lot of department stores except Fairprice, and there was not a huge choice of restaurants; I only went there because it had the Japanese restaurant that I wanted to eat from. I would not recommend eating here during lunchtime or even during weekends because during these periods of time, the carpark, which is already quite small, will be packed with cars and one has to drive around for at least fifteen minutes before can find a seat. However, the mall itself is not as crowded as I expected, and is relatively quiet.

Quite a self sufficient small mall. A number of eateries and foodcourt at ground floor, several retails on 2nd and 3rd level. More accessible by bus as Upper Thomson Station is still under construction. Driving is a nightmare due to multiple constructions ongoing for MRT brown line. 10mins ride from MacRitchie Reservoir, Treetop carpark at Venus Drive.

For an old mall, this place has really rejuvenated over the last couple of years. It used to be an old fudgy mall, with Yaohan departmental store and an arcade for kids to hang out. Now, it’s more a family mall, with NTUC Fairprice Finest, and many good restaurants around. The food stalls on the ground floor are also of quite a wide variety, offering snacks and smaller bites. Koufu has quite a diverse offerkng as well.

I personally really like Omote, the Japanese restaurant, for the cool vibes and fusion food items they have on menu. Fairprice Finest is also large and has quite a wide offering of fresh produce and items you need at home.

It features an NTUC Finest supermarket, many restaurants, a food court, a few bakeries, a selection of salons (from budget-friendly ones to mid-tier ones), a Daiso and Japan Home for sundry needs, a laundry place, a cobbler (expensive!), and even a jewellery store.

Security staff registering/screening visitors at entry insists on using his hand to hold my PG card when scanning card at entry. Did not see him sanitise his hand after scanning each card. At this rate, he is passing around multiple contamination on the cards that he touches.

Whereas the previous security staff would just tell you to place your card on the table when scanning a card. This is the correct way to scan visitor cards.

Love this mall.. ever since they did a makeover, the mall have been fantastic more eateries, the food court have been transformed to a more conducive and comfortable makan place.. glad that the pophiah, laksa uncle stall is still there as some of the vendors have not return after the renovation. That’s Diaso (Japanese Value Store) most of the items are at just $2 … and they are mostly directly imported from Japan.. There is a new Japanese restaurant “OMOTE” on the 3rd level, good food at a reasonable price. But unfortunately, shops like Popular Bookstore, Paradise have all disappeared.

This is a neighbourhood mall that has continued to attract customers for the last 40 years or more. It has at least 4 places for local coffee (not including the food court), at least 6 Japanese restaurants, a few Korean ones and a few local ones amongst others. It’s definitely a good place for sitting down to chat given the enhanced number of eateries and coffee places. In addition, the new Upper Thomson MRT station makes it even more accessible now. Downside is management is revenue driven and increases rents often. This has led to a number of good stores moving out of the location.

The old wing is privately owned and the new wing with the fair price since is taken over by Mercatus. That’s what I heard from the shop owners. So u see 80s shops in one wing and modern shops in the other.

    Nice place.

A complete decently sized mall with a large supermarket. A few dining options (including a hawker centre) available. It’s conveniently located right outside of Upper Thomson MRT. If you are adventurous, there are some cool shops at the shophouses down the street.

A retro mall from the 80s that has been refurbished to keep up with the times, Thomson Plaza now sports a new annex housing more f&b establishments and even a Daiso. The shopping experience can be described as eclectic as you’ll find novelties, board games, fashion and gardening goods alongside beauty salons, education centres and medical services. The TEL station is also just outside the building for added convenience.

Thomson Plaza is way better now as compared to last year. More restaurants have opened as well. There’s Fairprice Finest, Daiso and Stabucks, too. There is a newly built train station (Upper Thomson Station) which has a direct access to the mall. There are limited choices for shops but it should cover the basic needs. Oh, there’s a shop called “Diamond Craft” with a sign telling people that they need to clear their stocks soon. So far, the sign has been there for over a year. Please buy their diamonds and help this uncle!!!

I like going to Grumpy Bear Cafe cause it’s not crowded. There are newer restaurants though, you’ll be spoilt for choice.

They Are Renovating Half The Mall So If You Review This In 2020 It May Vary. There Are Many Food Choices. Daiso Will Also Begin Operation On October 13, 2019. It Has No Elevators Which Might Be A Problem For Wheelchairs And Strollers. There Is A Bank, Some Clinics, Two Bakeries And Spa’s. Supermarket (FairPrice Finest) Is Also There. There Are Even Two Learning Centres. One Teaches Chinese Enrichment (Hua Cheng) And One Teaches Math English And Science. (Learning Point)
Overall, Quite A Good Mall. Renovation Will End In 1st Quarter 2020.

Update: (Q2 2020) The Mall Is Fully Refurbished! Ready To Serve Customers! New Restaurants Such As Little Ceaser, Astons, (Check my profile for my review) Burger King, And the fully upgraded KOFU food court!

Update: (Q3-4) Now A New Arcade And One Of Those Supertrees! They are currently almost done with works but is not fully done. No Shops are currently affected by the works. I will continue to edit the reviews.

Update: (Q2 2021) The mall has officially finished their works and now should be starting on connecting the new Upper Thomson MRT. There are more choices in the mall now such as Daiso and Sushi Tei.

Been here during the days of Yaohan! The layout of the mall is very unique and is the design of the 70s 80s era. Reminds me of the old Plaza Singapura. Yamaha has been one of the longest serving tenants.

F&B – Han’s, Old Chang Kee, Koi, Koufu, omote, nam kee pao(new), Sushi Tei, to name a few.

NTUC Fair Price Finest, Daiso, Pet Lover’s, DBS Bank

An newly renovated space for more vibrant mall is underway. Some new shops pop-up at the Level 1. Seems like a good-mix.

Sleepy old mall from the 70s. It was a hot spot in the 70s when it first opened with Yaohan helming the premises as its main attraction. Now, it boasts of several good Japanese eateries one of which ( Omote) draws a daily stream of fans which comprises of first timers and regulars. Retail shops gives you the feeling of stepping into a time machine……. Back to the 70s-80s.
