I was happy to see that the craft brew trend has started to take off in Singapore since when I was first living there in 2009. Though it was a no brainer to visit 1925 when visiting Singapore for a week and living almost next door. I enjoyed the beer that I had, but quality can (and will, I am sure) improve. Nonetheless, four stars worth of beer is good, right?
It’s a hit or miss kind of craft beer place. While the bartenders are pretty good at what they deliver, the waiters can give you wrong info on the type and tastes. (the menu can be misleading as well, with wrong classification) At times they don’t even know the stuff that is available. The beers are good. Not very expensive for the craft beer levels. The food is reasonable. Nothing fancy. Quantities are on slightly smaller side for food.

Cool joint and good chat with bartender about their current beers on tap. They have 8 taps with a good variety.
The place look rustic and old. The service staff is good. They even brew some of their beer in house and this is a definte plus point. Wussie beer has a crisp and slight bitterness taste. Order a grilled chicken lunch set. The chicken is char grilled nicely on the outside but still retain the juice on the inside. But the salad side dish need to inform customer about the sauce. They have infused it a tinge of wasabi. I had a rush of heat when I took of mouthful of it. Will be back again.
I have only dropped by when I can find good parking. Beer and food does not disappoint. Never sat upstairs before – for the bigger group.
Great place to chill with friends. Good music and good atmosphere which can be enjoyed as it is not too crowded.

Pretty good craft beer place with great food. We have been returning because of the above. Had the Crsipy Pork Belly with Balsamic Sweet Sauce and the flavours are awesome. If the pork belly is a LITTLE more crispy, it’ll be perfect. Please keep up the standards and continue to innovate further. Look forward to see more interesting beer flavours that you all can come up with.
*Winter melon beer this round is not as intense (with the sweet node). Can’t taste the winter melon at all. You all may want to look into it.
Great selection of craft beers (including their own) and pretty decent food. I always give an extra star if you carry west coast brews.

Some of the beers are okay, some are pretty rough. Food is so so and overpriced.
We asked for a list of beers. There were six on the list, but only two were available – which makes you wonder why they bother to hand you the list in the first place. If the staff were competent enough to make recommendations the lack of an accurate printed list wouldn’t be an issue, but they seemed unfamiliar with beer in general and 1925’s offerings in particular.
If you live in the Jalan Besar area it’s probably worth a visit once or twice a year, but there are far better craft/microbrewery options in the area, offering better value and better beer.

AMAZING! The steak paddle was probably my favourite, but overall, every dish we tried, including the chicken skins and giant prawns on spaghetti, were really good. Their microbrew beer was excellent – try the 1925

Beer tasted very much like a homebrew tends to, very heavy carbonation and a distinct active yeast taste. Not great for high prices, even by Singapore’s standards.

We managed to book a table for 7 pax last minute. The table arrangement was a little awkward. Two single, long tables were combined to fit our party. Unfortunately, it was rather not conducive for a gathering. We had to stand up and reach for the dishes most of the time due to the huge space we got.
We ordered grilled pork belly, truffle fries, and smoked duck pizza for appetizers. Main courses included chili crab ravioli, special beef burger, and oven baked spring chicken. The food was not impressive. I personally don’t like the sweet sauce used for pork belly (though some of my friends do). The pizza was normal. Our ravioli was a little hard. The burger’s beef patty was not very juicy and too fine for my liking. The spring chicken was a little bland but i find it the best of all.
Supposedly for a brewing and co., i expected a lot more interesting flavors. However, i find the beers only average. Overall i won’t recommend this place as a sought after option if you are not nearby the neighborhood.

Amazing service and food. Weekend brunch menu has a unique feel to it. Weekday lunches have a hybrid Japanese western fusion cuisine. Craft beers are their forte. Their own home brews of 622,yellowvan,small monster, and their new additions of God’s hand, da bai and xiao hei. Pairs excellently with the normal food menu.

Its quiet downstairs and small groups can have a casual drink or there’s a nicer sit-down area upstairs which is better for larger groups.
True microbrew focused on quality rather than quantity, with half a dozen fresh beers on tap rather than a million different bottles in the bar fridge. As well as their own beers they have one or two guest beers on tap too. Apart from beer they have cocktails and a well curated selection of 3 red and 3 white wines by glass at a range of price points. Food menu was similarly focused on quality rather than quantity, with a relatively limited number of choices, but all of which looked delicious!

What a great place which is so unexpected on this stretch of Jalan Besar. I came here to the Community Manager Event and loved the place. I can only comment on the upstairs room which is accessed through the door next to the main entrance.
As I walked through the doors, I instantly loved the decor – super rustic, industrial, funky – the sort of place you would see in New York – cool, very cool. The wooden tables and chairs and warm, soft, dim lighting gave it a classy ambience that also had a comforting feeling of being at “at home”. I loved how that everything in this place had a story – the names of the drinks, the name of the place, the decor – it is living and breathing local history – ask the staff – they are super friendly and will love to talk about it.
The local beers were good and reasonable at happy hour prices. Give them a shot. Be warned though, some of the brews are limited editions and may not feature twice!

Nice ambience, great food, yummy light & dark draft beers. Some of the brews are done in-house. Be sure to try them. Unpretentious place. Gets very crowded from Thursday onwards. Seating is on 2 floors but I like the first floor better as it is closer to the bar and kitchen – much better “pub” feel.

And who knew, they serve fantastic food there as well!! The duck and fish dishes that we ordered were so delicious, me and my partner contemplated for so long whether we should order another portion haha!

The food was pretty okay. A 4 stars for the food. It was our 2nd time there. However, the service wasn’t great. It does not seem if the staff are trained well. 2.5 stars for the customer service.
Chill place for craft beers
Handcraft Beer with tons of fusion food. I like how the owner+Chef plays with his creativity every month, by launching new menu etc. Cosy Hipster Environment and i can order my dessert last order at midnight. Will recommend as a hangout spot at Jln Besar area. And the boss Ivan look handsome

Great micro brewed beers of their own production and those of other small breweries. I highly recommend stopping in for a beer and possibly a cocktail.

A small venue, quiet the evening I was there, serving a handful of microbrewery beers and an interesting short menu. Food was good, but not outstanding. The staff were very friendly. My larger disappointment was, despite billing as a brewpub, they had just one of their own beers on tap on the day I visited, which was quite good but not great. I’m sure the taps rotate frequently, so perhaps at other times they’ll have more of their own.

In addition to beer made in Singapore, you can enjoy draft beers from around the world. I ordered a beer called Watermelon Wheat and it tasted just like watermelon. There are also unusual beers, so we recommend safe ones such as pale ale, pilsner, and stout. The huge tank placed in the store has a strong presence, and the unpainted bare walls create a hideaway-like atmosphere. All the seats are high chairs, and it seems that outside seats can be used when it is crowded. The food is mainly bar menu, but the egg in the burger patty was very delicious.

Disappointed with bar staff and my recent visit. I’m aiming to drink at least 2-3 beers on my bar exploring tour but I just took one which by the way didn’t taste well. As it was still enough time before closing time I was expecting much more enthusiasm on other side of the bar but they were occupied with their own chit chat. Will give them second chance if I ever come back to SG.
The pale ale is excellent, and the food is decent and fast. Beware the owners are going to move locations in mid-2018.

You couldn’t have asked for a better craft beer place. Excellent food and great booze.
Nice and modern place. Trendy microbrewery. A bit pricey and some of the food arrived really late. Also, four of the seven beers on tap were sold out… that is bad, considering they make it inhouse.. would really like to give this place four stars, but with some of these minor points they have some improvement to do.
We visited the 1925 Brewery last night and the experience was far from what we expected.
First off, we came here for the beer and I should mention that it wasn’t bad at all, we tried the full range but settled on the yellow van for the bulk of the evening. We also ordered some bar bites that were very good so this 2 star rating is not directed towards the beer or the food specifically, rather, the front of house team themselves.
1. It seemed that we had stumbled into their own social club, the waiters and waitresses were drinking shots with a couple of tables of guests and the end result was that it was almost impossible to get orders placed.
2. One member of our group asked if he could have some bread and olive oil and the waiter refused. We asked if the kitchen had bread and olive oil and he confirmed that they did but that we couldn’t order this as it wasn’t on the menu and that they weren’t prepared to just help us out.
3. We promptly decided to leave and when raising these issues to another waitress and confirming that we and everyone we know will never return she didn’t seem to care and no solutions were proposed or attempts to remedy the situation suggested.
We should have known that there was no focus on the customer when, at one stage, one of the waiters asked everyone in the restaurant to stop talking and to sing happy birthday for one of the waitresses. As paying guests we are not there to focus on the staff having a party, I remember singing and clapping my hands as instructed just wondering when my beer was actually going to emerge…
Given that they are charging SGD 15++ per pint (that is actually more expensive than buying half pints at SGD 7++ making no sense at all), from a location that is not exactly central they need to be going the extra mile to delight their customers. We would have spent twice as much last night and probably returned with larger groups in the future if the team could just take a moment to stop concentrating on enjoying themselves and to focus on us, the customers.
The end result is that they are essentially hemorrhaging money and pushing guests away but I doubt that anyone at the 1925 Microbrewery will really care until it is far too late.
Nice cozy place. Went for a few beers. Not a big fan of IPA and unfortunately the majority of their selection were IPAs at the time. Did enjoy the beer I had in the end though!

Go during happy hour if you can, otherwise super expensive. They had two of their own beers on tap while we were there which were good, and a few other local and imports as well.
