Tanah Merah is the interchange for the EW shuttle service to Changi Airport.
If you are coming all the way from the west side of Singapore, the trains do not go all the way to Changi Airport. It stops at Tanah Merah, and you have cross over the platform to get on the shuttle service to Changi Airport (and the Expo centre). I suspect it’s because there is insufficient demand from Changi all the way into town.

Typical MRT station but with 3 platforms. Instead of sharing platforms for both Pasir Ris and Changi Airport directions, the middle platform is being used and now they’re building one more platform.

There isn’t a need for extra platforms, more tracks can be built and used to facilitate a higher number of trains that passes through the station

    Tanah Merah MRT

Optima condominium before arriving Tanah Merah Mrt

The Mrt is an above-ground station along the East West Line (EWL) while serving as the transfer station with the EWL’s Changi Airport Branch line. It is located at the boundaries of the Bedok North and Bedok South planning subzones, and is built along New Upper Changi Road, between the junctions of Bedok South Avenue 3 and Bedok Road.
The station name, which means red earth in Malay, is derived from the red lateritic cliffs along the coast that were once visible from the sea (most of which were leveled into the sea for land reclamation works) . The station serves the Tanah Merah area, a hilly residential area with many condominiums, private houses and a few schools.
Tanah Merah station offers a cross-platform interchange between mainline East West Line train services and Changi Airport Branch line services to Changi Airport which use the middle track. The station will also benefit from a future expansion with a new platform by Year 2024.
A S$325 million project to add a new platform and viaducts at Tanah Merah MRT station by 2024 will lead to shorter waiting times for commuters and greater access to Expo and Changi Airport.

In the morning, there will always be a few trains that are empty. I believe those trains are the ones that just came from the depot. Sometimes you just gotta skip the current packed train and wait. The next might be an empty train and you can get a seat.

The train however to Expo and Changi Airport takes a little longer. To arrive. Their intervals are longer than regular trains. Say maybe around 7 minutes. Where normal train intervals are around 2-4 minutes.

While this is a pretty decent MRT, clean and airy, one of it’s biggest flaw is the inaccessibility via wheelchair and baby prams. The exit from the underground walkway does not have lift access, hence the only way to exit (or enter) is via the escalators and stairways, which is a huge challenge for those requiring assistance. This is in contrast to other MRT stations which always have provision for special accessibility needs.

Overall Tanah Mehrah MRT Station is a train station which has its own conveinency of having a train to bring you from one destination to another destination within a short period of time

The issue is regarding about the toilet papers,it would be good to implement several toilet papers holders in several cubicles so that people or tourist that may need an urgent usage of the toiletries doesn’t have the need to actually bring a whole stack of toilet papers from the tolietry basing itself before heading into the toilet cubicle to do their business
It would be good and mandatory that the management would look into this matter and rectify it
It also applies to several Train Stations spreaded across Singapore
    This isn’t a criticism,Thank you

While in Singapore, I like to go back and forth past the Tanah Merah MRT station. Apart from the unique name from here, I can see a view of the residential area which is next to the station. Incidentally, part of the MRT track is open, so while waiting for the MRT to arrive, you can see the view of the main streets of Singapore from the Tanah Merah area. At that time I deliberately stopped at the Tanah Merah MRT station just to feel the atmosphere from this station. Turns out it’s a cool place. It just so happened that it was raining and the wind was really strong so that I sat down while waiting for the MRT to come. I and several prospective passengers in the middle of all made to protect themselves from exposure to rain water carried by the wind. It’s the first time I feel like I’m getting rained on, aka raining

An interchange for trains serving the East West Line and airport bound trains. Commuters have to access an underpass in order to exit the station, of which the escalators’ speed is quite slow. There is also a large construction site outside the train station. The buses are well connected to other places such as Bedok and Tampines.
