I ordered takeaway here, 10 portions, it took around half an hour to get my order. They are unfortunately understaffed as there were only 3 people at the front of house catering to all the dine-in and takeaway customers, so I don’t blame them. I would not suggest ordering food delivery or takeaway from here if you are already hungry. Be prepared to wait.

The quality of the sushi is alright, you get what you paid for, and you paid for cheap sushi. The prices are low and student friendly, so I don’t mind. I would recommend dining in over takeaway and food delivery.

I’m rarely write comment to restaurant, but I really pity the staffs here, especially the guy outside service us,one man show and handle 20-30 customers,no matter short of staff or others reason, the boss should think about the staff working here, why ppl can’t stay long, maybe that’s one of the reason, and maybe the pay very less too, just to feedback,I know won’t affect your business here as u have good location for your business.I give 3 stars for the staff not for your restaurant.

There is one uncle staff who has really deep lungs 🫁 where he can shout across and lead us to our seats. Very loud and clear. But at times scared my friend due to his loud voice .
I can see he takes pride in his work and enjoys his work.

While there was a young female staff who didn’t seem like she was enjoying her work. She looked unhappy and didn’t have smiles on her face. ‍️

There was no hot water from the hot water taps but we were glad that hot water was served regularly and when requested.

We managed to eat lots of salmon sashimi and delicious sushi (mostly black-coloured premium plates ). The new Unagi sushi was excellent.

The place looked squeezy and hope that they will be expanding to a larger space soon!

During payment, we saw there was a promotion by DBS cards and we asked the staff (who was a manager) about this promo but she told us only these 3 cards were entitled for this promo. But when we looked closer, actually it was not. Shouldn’t have listened to her and missed this good promo offer.

The overall bill was much more than what we ate previously before the GST increase.

Please bring back the green tea mochi . Suggest chawansmushi and more hot item foods.

Staff that was on shift around 4pm+ to 5pm+ on 16/01/2022 was attentive to the customers’ needs and wants & was great at maintaing the customers queueing outside the restaurant. The operations is almost perfect which is a massive plus for me.

However, the salmon sashimi that the staff was putting out onto the converyor belt was completely not fresh. On the plate itself, the salmon can barely hold its own integrity, basically no firm at all and crumbled in my mouth. Ate one plate and it ended there, plus i got a really bad stomachache from it the next day. Please do train your staff to look out for quality of food, especially sashimi.

We were at front of queue with 5 pax. They let in 1 pax followed by 2 pax who were at least 2-3 places behind us in the queue. There was another family of 6. The picture showed the 2 that they seated first. Due to the bad planning, we could have sat in those 5 seats after people left shortly but we had to wait 15-20 min more with 3 hungry and cranky kids. What’s the point of queuing if our spot was not respected. The Tampines One branch is much better in sitting bigger groups.

Long queue usually. Though if you are dining alone, generally you can get a seat relatively easier due to the social distancing set up. The waitress and waiter are all elderly when I was there, only 2 friendly young age supervisors.

The waiter and waitress are all very friendly and nice though do expect slightly slower service as it is always at full capacity within the restaurant. The supervisors are very attentive and nice as well.

As for food assortment, the menu is pretty standard and you can either order or pick off the conveyor belt. There will occasionally be surprise items on the belt. E.g. Blueberry cheesecake.

Not bad and the price is pretty affordable for sushi. Quality of food is average range which matches the price tagged.

Went during the off peak period at around 3pm. Waited awhile, however I dont see any salmon sashimi on the belt. Ordered some from the severs, however after 30mins no sashimi was served out and there were countless of other customers asking for it to be served too. Its was only after countless reminders from the servers that the chef finally served out the salmon sahimi. The first plate of salmon sashimi that i had was 45mins into my lunch. Unacceptable.

Found fish bones and scales on 2 different occasions in my salmon sashimi.

Sushi’s running on the rope. Will tell you how they serve. You enter take your seat next to moving plates. Pick your sushi plate you loke keep eating and tea is complimentary. After you are done with eating and filling up, you will be billed on no. Of plates you picked. For eg 1 plate @ $1.5

Mechanized sushi cafe conveyor feed. All food moves on a conveyor belt along the tables in special transparent containers. You take the portions you are interested in yourself. The calculation is based on the number of plates of food. Pink plates are $1.50, black ones are $3.
Portions are small: for example, two rolls or pieces of fish. A wide variety of different options for fish and sushi. There are various desserts. Drinks are on the conveyor.
You also make tea yourself: each table has a pipe with boiling water and there are boxes with various teas.
    Children love to be here.
Usually allocated from 40 minutes to 1 hour to stay in a restaurant.
But if you sit out, no one will kick you out. Often there is a small line at the entrance to eat.
Despite the small cost of one portion and limited time, you can quietly eat and 30-40 dollars for one.

Usual sushi express standard. Tuna mayo sushi tastes of pepper only. Wouldn’t recommend as buying sushi from NTUC is of better quality. Miso soup is the only good thing

At $1.50++ per plate, i have no complains about the taste or quality of food. At least, everything is fresh tasting like the salmon sashimi. What i really like about Sushi Express is its fuss free dining concept. We help ourselves to the wasabi & soy sauce, hot water for the green tea and just take whatever we want from the conveyor belt. When we are done, we get our plates counted and just head to the cashier to make payment. Absolutely no frills. I recommend the chilled whole prawns that are always sweet-tasting, imitation abalone slices for that chewy bite, aburi salmon for that melt-in-the-mouth sensation and mackerel for that meaty goodness. And for dessert, the cute looking round cream puffs can be so satisfying.

I combined 3 different aburi scallops for a colourful plate. They were delicious, though they could be torched a bit longer. The brownie is moist and yummy. Mochi was chewy and a good size. Bigger than a normal Chinese spoon. Seems like a better variety than when I had it years ago. There are Hokkigai and Anago, if I got the sushis right. And what looked like a shell variety, mixed in chilli and ketchup? Love the company of the tea. Love love, got pudding!! Don’t compare with the more expensive chains. Diff mkt, hence the price. Lol. I don’t expect much, COS THE PRICE. I typically patronise Genki or Itacho due to their wider variety. So I visited Sushi Express with open eyes. At this price, don’t hiam as long is edible with ok service.

If this is your first time dining at this restaurant as it was mine, there are some things that you need to know. It was ‘a journey of discovery’ for me. (Everything was self-service, including getting your own utensils, but no such information was made known when I stepped in.)
Was there at 11 plus in the morning. I noticed that even though they were opened, there were very few plates of Sushi on the conveyor belt. Thus, I asked one of the staff for their menu & that’s when I was told, there is No menu. I’ve posted photos of the few items that were decent & as you can see, their wasabi comes in packets.
The thing that surprised me most of all was the fact that they charged for service charge even though there was No service whatsoever.

Went here during non peak hours with less then 1/4 of seats occupied but still staff took their sweet time chitchatting before eventually letting me in a vacuous manner literally tossing the packets of soy sauce & wasabi on my table. Also, a couple of times, staff “accidentally” kicked my chair’s leg without apologizing. Plus the place is not very well-cleaned with leftover soy sauce here & there and sticky floors. Pls. train your staff properly, they’re working in a restaurant (that bills service charge, mind you) not in a wet market. Two stars for the food variety & quality.

Didn’t realise this was a chain store till we patronised the outlet. The unmistakable tiny chairs lined the tiny store. Unfortunately unlike the Seletar Mall outlet, this store has tinier than usual sushi. And the sashimi is thin and tinier compared to the Seletar Mall outlet.

This restaurant DO NOT prepare more food after 8.45pm. Eat only what is on the conveyor belt.

I sit down around 8.40pm on Saturday evening. I wish to order 2 plate of salmon sashimi, but the staff told me they run out of salmon sashimi. Ask me to just take whatever is available on the converyor belt, but they are mostly the premium dish, pretty old and dry after leaving there a long time, and very limited items. Very disappointed.
I went to the other outlet at seletar mall, the kitchen and staff will always take order, and push out more.

Went at 2.30pm. Queue moves relatively fast. Food is decent, sashimi cold and tasty. Time limit is gone.

However, customers are seated side by side without masks. In the past, customers were still seated with a seat inbetween them, however here, everyone is cramped together. Food choices were not much, only a few items on the moving platform. Could be due to high demand from a lot of customers, or kitchen could not keep up.

Service crew wasn’t that helpful. Asked for sauce plate and soya sauce cause no more and was told to wait. Never got back to me and had to ask a few more times. There should not be a service charge.

Was there at 3plus in the afternoon today. About 10 minutes later, I ordered sashimi and was shocked to be told that there is no sashimi today.
While I understand that no sashimi available in the afternoon where there is not much crowd is a cost saving measure. However I would appreciate if the staff is more honest in his reply. I also feel it is necessary to let patrons know when they first enter the restaurant that certain popular food is not available.
