Was one of my first few times going into Spotlight with a purpose. Never knew they had so much things; always thought they were just a DIY shop. Turns out they had a huge costume section, and many party essentials too! That was when they got my attention in all honesty. Beyond bedding, towels, and shelves / racks. Location is also conveniently located on the 4th floor of Plaza Singapura, although they’re split into 2 different shops as they expanded, on opposite ends of the floor.

Spotlight has practically everything you need at home and more–art stuff! We bought bed sheets that are of good quality and fortunately are on sale! The display is organized. Moms will stay here all day just to get everything they need to make their homes comfortable, beautiful and orderly.

Spend so much… but it was worth every cent!

There are many stuff related to handicrafts, artwork, household decor, sewing etc. It’s a huge place to spend your time browsing around, but the prices are not the cheapest. You are paying for convenience, I guess.
However, this place is very tight on space to even walk around comfortably. It’s worse if you are carrying a basket.
What I would moemally do is to go to Daiso next door to see if I can get some of the gift-wrapping or handicraft items as it’s a $2 shop, before going to Spotlight to get the other stuff not available at Daiso

Whole bunch of craft materials that would suit anyone looking for wide range of items. The prices can be a bit on the high side if they are not on discount but it would also not be easy looking for similar items elsewhere. They have a huge stock of different colours and materials for similar items. You can also find stuff for children’s parties. Generally crowded during weekends

Everything in One Place, pretty much! Went here to see what they had in the way of arts and crafts items and home decor. They’ve got fabric and trim, ribbons and thread. They have placemats, inexpensive dishware, towels, pans. Spotlight also carries artist supplies and fun kits for children. You could spend 15 minutes or 1.5 hours here. It’s a good place to browse. Prices are not always the cheapest, and you need to determine what level of quality you need, but for a one stop shopping place where you will likely find what you need, this is it. Spotlight is located in the Plaza Singapura with several other (low key) shops too, so you’ll have plenty of bits to browse.

Veeery big store! Spans across 2 sides of the mall. You’ll find basically everything you might need except for food of course. And since i’m the artistic/crafty kind of person, i’m always at the crafts section! Frequent sale offers also makes the trip worth the while!

I was unable to find the googly eyes I wanted. The staff though friendly did not go the extra step to check their computer records to see if there was any stock of the googly eyes in their storeroom. They were busy with many customers so I didn’t want to trouble them with my request.

No staff on hand for assistance. And, at the payment counter when I asked if they could check (on their system) any matching cushions for my 30inch insert, the lady indifferently said “..no stock..” without even looking. Even if it were true because her memory serves her right, she could have at least seemed apologetic and gave advise as to when there’ll be new stock.

Despite COVID the place is still booming with customers..Great place to shop for fabrics..no doubt a bit pricier but you can get what you are looking for. Service staff is very good, sad I didn’t catch his name as we were caught up discussing about what fabrics to use and the kind of white I was looking for. Even though he was serving like 3-4 customers at one go,I waited as there was no one else..the guy was very helpful in getting what I needed..
To the shop manager..this chap was working about 12noon today at the cashier area with another lady at the checkout..lady was talking in Cantonese. The chap helped me out in picking the white I needed for a photo shoot backdrop. Very good customer service.

I was looking for a dress bag. When I went over to another sundry shop across, I got the help of a salesperson in a jiffy. She could tell me that’s the stock is unavailable within a short time. So I hopped over to this store. I was overwhelmed with the goods and don’t know where to start. I asked around and being pushed to different parts of the store till I met a responsible lady who pointed out to me where the bag is.
It must have been like ages. Through my relentless journey, I met a couple of staff talking animatedly. There were not in favour of me dropping in to their conversation asking for direction. They pointed me to somewhere and continued talking.
It was that nice lady, motivated to help me. Thank you kind soul. I didn’t get your name.

They have a wide variety of craft materials but service is subjective so here’s just my story. I wanted to clarify with a staff about a product which I was holding onto but was told to wait as he was serving someone which is a fair reason so I said ok and waited just close by not out of sight. I waited for awhile once he was done he went over to another customer who just came. So I waited again, I finally got to ask my question only to have him tell me that this was not in his department and to go to another staff at that section for help..

It has almost every you need there, but it might not always be the best place to go to if you need to get something as it may be pricey compared to some other stores that also sell the same thing but way cheaper. I wouldn’t give it as a five star rating as due to the price at some point may be over rated. I still buy thing there like fabrics and some other stuff. It is not as bad as you think it would be and also you might just meet a few irresponsible workers there.

Spotlight is still a top choice in Singapore if you think about craft items, though party supplies are not the best in terms of variety and tend to be in the pricey side. Went to Plaza Sin outlet. Prices for the fabrics are difficult to read and the big sale sign stating the price doesn’t tally with the bales of cloth. I looked for one listed on sale in the website but the staff said it was not on sale. Some staff seem reluctant and looked annoyed when I asked for help. I looked for scissors and realised there are 3 different scissors shelf in different parts of dept only after I paid for 1. Helpful staff! But it might help to have more detailed signs for products available at a section. Or a guide on the website on where to go exactly to pick up an item. It might help customers save on time looking for small items and asking a staff who might be busy. Would have been a great experience if we had the time to really look through the shelves.

Here is my review of Spotlight good and bad

As a (shoppee) yarn addict who loves to crochet, try to knit and potentially try weaving I went there to look at the yarns. I was very excited to go as I had heard there were a lot of yarns and fabrics to choose from. However I did keep my expectations to a relatively low standard(thought I could find at least 3 relatively good yarns) Disclaimer (these are all just my opinion from a person who uses shoppee brand yarn)

    Good parts
-A lot of variety(rows and rows of different yarns and fabrics)

-It has items ranging from party needs(costumes, and disposable plates etc) to yarn and fabric

-Many types of fabric(some are good, mostly the aunty kind of designs or the extremely kiddy ones. But plain one’snot so much. Some of the fabrics very rough not nice to touch. For fabrics I suggest to maybe go to Chinatown peoples park centre, there is an entire stretch of fabric shops there )

-has a sewing machine display area(carousel one’s are cheaper though)

    Bad parts
-The yarn quality is as bad as my phone battery life

They have a lot of yarn that is for sure. So i find it extremely amazing that they have so many(and I mean MANY) different yarns, from different brands different places, but yet,
They all feel bad. They are so dry they are like the Sahara desert, but in yarn form. Moreover the yarns are rough and they would be extremely hard to crochet with and I can tell that if I made a sweater out of them I would get itchy real quick.I do not know what baby would want to wear clothing made out of them. Maybe a blanket still OK,but I would not wanr try.

-The prices are as high up as the burj Khalifa.

Like for one lil ball of dry yarn,it’s price is like $7(on shoppee the yarnis only $2 and so much softer, smoother, less fray and aka so much better to work with).for the bulky yarn it’s like $20(which gave me a heart attack). Out of curiosity I went to look at the crochet needle section, and when I saw the price 我的心掉进了峡谷. Those things cost like $10 for one short lil pair of plastic Needles(shoppee ones only cost like $2 per pair)
Oh ya if you are going there for costumes do not recommend at all.One of those fancy-ish plastic masks with stuff cost 20+ dollars even the only plastic mask cost $7.

-The value packs are honestly, you pay for what you get. The packs are in plastic and when you squeeze them they feel soft but since they are in the plastic you can’t feel the texture of yarn. The brand of yarn was in the aisle beside it so i went to feel the texture and it was quite dry and rough. Conclusion, the value packs have a lot of yarn, just not the best yarn(it would probably be a pain to work with.)

-Even the yarn from daiso next door (which quality Is also not great) is better, and only costs $2.(shoppee yarn still much better)

    Conclusion
Go there once, see how it is if you like the yarn good for you,but just know there are better,5x cheaper yarns for $2 on shoppee or from like taobao.

Just shop for yarns and Needles online like with shoppee or taobao. Quality higher and price much lower.(Recommend cow brand,依稀,or she weave)

    For fabrics go to Chinatown

PS choice for manual curtains but not blinds.
Expensive for motorised blinds coz their motor can only support 2.4m blinds => need 2x $950 for 2.7m + $85 for remote controller + $360 for installation + $966.24 for 2 sets of Venetian blinds = $3311.24 vs $1800.60 for Rollerblinds.

When I first signed up my membership, staff failed to key in my personal details. No wonder cashier couldn’t retrieve my membership record with my personal details! No response when I emailed to the office to activate my VIP card online. Now I need to update contact number, staff also don’t know how to advise politely or don’t know what to do. Staff seem poorly trained. I wonder how they handle membership issues when customers have no access to internet or not IT savvy. Expect customer to be savvy, their own staff not savvy!

Can’t Spotlight just enable cashiers to update customer contacts and train them to speak nicely?

Dropped by to pick up a few fabrics, wide ranges however can be a little expensive.

Most of the staff are friendly and helpful, however there was one staff in particular when I had asked if there was any stock or another roll of fabric since the one I had brought to the counter did not have the amount I needed, she replied “everything is there, go and see for yourself”.

The same staff also said to me “Please find one with enough fabric, if not I have to take out and measure and if not enough, I have to roll it back.”.

I think customer service can be improved a little.

Spotlight has always been my go-to store for anything craft related items. It is a heaven for DIY individuals!

The place is huge and you can definitely find what you’re looking for to spruce up any space in mind.

However, customer service has got to buck up seriously. The staff (atleast for the particular day I went) seemed laidback and couldn’t be bothered with providing proper guidance for us, patrons. For example, we weren’t informed of discounts available thus was charged as per normal price only to find out about it after payment was made.

This was the case with their service on that day with at least the 3 or 4 staff I encountered with.

Dear Spotlight Management, you have a wonderful store and I wish you put in the right people with the right attitude there. Customer service is highly regarded everywhere and I’m sure your team can do more than this.

Great place to find fabrics, craft and homewares. Especially good when a sale is on. Prices can be on the high side for some items.

Great selection as with all Spotlights but very difficult to locate what you’re after. Signage is messy and the store is quite cramped at times. Went to 3 counters to ask for a certain product and was told to go to Daiso next door, that the product is not stocked to begin with, that the product is out of stock and then ultimately was advised to go to another counter to enquire. Some staff members are very friendly whereas others could not care less and are disengaged. Goes to show a bit of customer service training and store/department knowledge goes a long way. I also feel that despite the excellent range, the products are generally priced high for what they are.

Spotlight has an awesome assortment of handicraft and house items. If you’re on sewing, stitching, knitting, painting… you will find what you need there.
Only remark (reason for -1 star): they always advertise many discounts, but the cashier might forget to apply it. Not a big deal if you notice and claim.

Full of artistic and crafty supplies. Prices are pretty close to the American store, Michaels, for certain things. Can’t ever find anyone to really help look or price check stuff tho.

Got my usual household bath towel from here and liked that it offers handicraft items as well. I will spend more time here looking at the craft ideas.

This is one huge home and crafts shop in Singapore. At least for what I’ve seen so far. I am reminded of Michael’s in the US. Some say it’s like Hobby Lobby but it’s more like the former.

Anyway, pricing is not cheap but not extravagant as well. They have a wide variety of pillow, blankets, home and kitchen items, decor to give your home or condo character. It occupies half a floor in Plaza S.

I recommend going and checking it out.

older staff are generally rude, else not knowledgeable enough. however, mainly talking about the fabric section because other sections I have met helpful and friendly staffs. signs for discounts are unclear. if you’re having no discounts for “everyday low price” items you could have at least mentioned before checking out customer’s payment. does not mind the prices being on the high side, but service standards can be improved.

They were having a sale on wall paintings, like 66 percent off or something? Massive space which goes on and on, snagged a great canvas deal for 10$! Also some gorgeous cutout letterings!

The 2 stars are for the in-store experience. Pricey though. Online experience is awful and 0 stars. Hardly anything in stock, overpriced compared to alternatives online, expensive delivery, and the sloooowest customer service ever! Takes days and weeks to get a reply!
Worst is, I can’t even register an account with an email address with other than the old schools extensions (.com, .sg etc) Come on Spotlight….this is 2021!!

Spotlight is a good place to shop for fabric, art related materials, crafts etc. It is also reasonably priced.
I had been looking for tailoring scissors, and it is here I found a good one. The staff is also efficient and courteous.
