Still a good place for lunch. Only bad things is because of covid-19 pandemic, not able to go and take additional adds on, have to be taken by the waitress, so sad. Other than this, food’s still good as ever, good services.

Disappointed with how the prices have increased in general. But most importantly, for this particular outlet, when it’s about 10 minutes before their closing time, one of the staff (elderly woman) rudely rushed us to be quick and leave. So pressured that I could not even finish my food and had a lot of leftovers. Regretted coming. Did not even give us any free soft toy… When I went to any other outlets, they will always give a simple free soft toy for a table. Can sense how angry were they as they wanted to faster go home lol

Go in the afternoon 2pm to 5pm for additional discounts. Would be slightly expensive at the original price.

Self service sauces and drinks. Various soup base available. Tried tomato and collagen chicken soup base. Fried bean curd skin goes nicely with the soup. Soaking up the goodness.

Had the set for one person. Costs just $14.80. Thought it was delicious. Together with the sauces, it was very satisfying and substantial. Was ready to burst after the meal.
Can’t understand what previous reviewers were griping about. Perhaps they expect this to be dirt cheap cos the deco is rather cheesy.
I’m glad I didn’t read the previous reviews prior to coming here. Otherwise I might’ve decided to give it a miss altogether!

Shi Li Fang (食立方) is a hotpot restaurant chain that hails from Taiwan. The overall experience doesn’t stray far from mainstream steamboat dining. Rather than the usual single /double choices of soup bases, you are allowed up to 3 flavours – my personal preferences are the Tonic Chicken and Ravishing Tomato – all of which are touted to be MSG free.

Another highlight would be the choice of Handmade Noodles (手工面) as a carb over plain white rice. Waitresses would be on hand to pull them into long threads for you right at the table, just don’t expect chef-level skills.

Having visited quite a few of the steamboat choices in Singapore, I would suggest taking the budget/wallet friendly branding with a pinch of salt. Even with the current 50% off promotion, simple meat dishes can cost upwards of $7 and more, so I would caution against ticking everything on the menu. My meal for 2 adults set me back $88.50 for 2 meats, a vegetable platter, 1 prawn, 1 fish and 2 assorted dishes.

My first Shi Li Fang experience! Glad to have dined here – the waitresses and trainees were all very polite and friendly. They will ensure the customer’s needs are met. The manager who works there is very considerate too – when something went wrong on the table, he took the initiative to rectify the problem without us requesting. Loved it and will be back to eat again!

Paid 100+ for 2 pax. There’s no cheese in tofu cheese. Fish roe ball is kina nasty. Ordered 2 chrysanthemum tea but the staff claimed that it’s hot and she offered some ice. However, they only offered 1 glass of ice for 2 pax. Chicken soup taste like chicken stocks. If this is the standard for the price, I would rather go to HDL.

I like the food and the obvious aspirations to copy the winning formula of haidilao to provide superior services.

The food is okay. The marinated pork is especially nice. Between the chicken broth and mala broth, chicken broth clearly stands out, while the mala broth is rather bad.

Service is good from most staff, but not all staff embrace the service ethos. There is one staff who rudely dismissed us when we try to figure out the menu.

A bit pricey but quality isn’t bad. But tables are too small considering the plates used for serving the raw food were not small and we had a tough time being careful with our cooking and movements.

Sauce, drinks, ice cream, meats n even wet tissues were all payable add-ons, had to rely on e carbo noodle n you tiao m drinks which were free flow to be full. Food was fresh and can choose a few broth in a pot. Tried the tomato broth and chicken broth, and they are quite flavourful though a bit oily. Variety was also quite substantial. It is quite affordable with the meat and seafood at 50% of the price. You can get to customise the dipping sauce. Diners will be able to earn stamps in exchange for soft toys. Now the restaurant is having a promotion where every table will have a soft toy.

Very affordable Chinese Hotpot if you order the set menus. They’re not a buffet restaurant, but they have a lot of varieties in what they offer and the choices are worth it.

Food quality wise may not be as fresh as the higher end hotpot restaurants, but it’s adequate and not bad. You get what you pay for. Soup wise it’s also okay. There is also free flow drinks option available.

Like its other outlets, Shi Li Fang stands out as a very over the top hotpot restaurant. Bright colours, soft toys everywhere and interesting decorations. Quite an experience.

While cannot compare to the likes of Hai Di Lao, Shi Li Fang is the more affordable option with good quality. Definitely worth your money and enough to fulfill any hotpot cravings.

    The good:
the food is very fresh and the soup savoury. Also, wide range of sauces for you to diy something to your palate, included in the price of the food. The all-you-can-drink bar also offers refillable drinks at a very reasonable price of $.60 or $1.60 for a set and alacarte respectively.

    The bad:
At the queue on the outside, the wait staff just asks you to wait and tell you it’s your turn soon which is an apparent lie. I waited for nearly an hour in the queue and the staff just tells you it’s going to be soon when they do not make any effort to clear the tables inside to make way. It’s just lies and lies to keep you in the queue.

Be prepared to wait up to 1 hour with just 4 pple in front of the queue, which is frankly ridiculous. This time is also after a family left the queue, so you should expect 1 hr plus of waiting time.

That said, the wait staff inside are pretty prompt and polite. It is just the queue management team, including the shift supervisor, that is dishonest and utterly inept at managing any form of expectation.

The management has to rethink about its approach to queue management. If you are not going to chase the customers who have finished dining, fine. Just don’t reassure the customers waiting in the queue that it’s your turn soon, when it’s a blatant lie. This isn’t an audition to be the next Kellyanne Conway.

An average steamboat joint like this doesn’t deserve this kind of waiting time.

Dine at Shi Li Fang at Thomson Plaza on their grand opening. Staff were generally proactive. Ordered mushroom set meal as well as pork combo set meal. King trumpet mushroom tasted rubbery even after prolonged cooking. When footing the bill, the cashier was simply multi-tasking. Totally absorbed in his conversation on the phone while processing my payment. After that my son was trying his best to get the cashier’s attention. He had choosen a free toy and wanted to ask if he was allowed to take it with him. But was totally ignored!

Quality of food is good for its price. Love the sauces and the handmade noodles.
