In 1940, this 60-foot-tower (18 m) was erected for visitors to enjoy the panoramic view of the surroundings. Back then the construction of Seletar Reservoir was also completed, along with a pumping station to pump untreated water from the reservoir to Pierce Reservoir.
The reservoir became functional in August 1968. On 10 August 1969, the Seletar Reservoir was officially declared open by Her Royal Highness, Princess Alexandra of the United Kingdom, during Singapore’s 150th anniversary celebration of her founding.
The reservoir possessed an initial capacity of 150 million gallons until its expansion in 1969. It was renamed Upper Seletar Reservoir in 1992, while the Sungei Seletar Reservoir was renamed Lower Seletar Reservoir. The Upper Seletar Reservoir was marked as a historic site in 1999. Both reservoirs are currently managed by the national water agency, Public Utilities Board (PUB).
In 2004, the Public Utilities Board opened up Lower Seletar Reservoir for water-based activities like sailing and sports fishing. On 13 May 2007, the opening of the Water Venture sports facility by the People’s Association at the reservoir park offered water sports activities such as kayaking and dragon-boating.
In July 2016, construction of the Coastal Adventure Corridor of the Round Island Route began with a launch ceremony by the Prime Minister Lee Hsien Loong. The 60-kilometre-long corridor will begin at Rower’s Bay at the Lower Seletar Reservoir Park and end at Gardens by the Bay.
Conceptualised in 2011, the Round Island Route is a 150-kilometre-long trail that will connect existing natural, cultural, historical and recreational sites in Singapore.

Spotted this singing bird at Seletar Rocket Tower, amazing…
Upon online research..It is called Oriental Magpie Robin.! One of the rare local bird to be sighted now with the unique and beautiful singing..
Quiet and scenic. Prepare for mosquitoes though.

it’s cloudy day when i’m went there, sunset is not good but still manage to get couple of shoot at some signature place.
The tower inside was poorly maintained litter with lot of lizards poop. The view on top is nice though and that’s the only plus point that worth your 5 minutes view.

It’s a very tranquil and scenic place that is open 24 hours to the public. A car or a bicycle is the recommended means of transport to get you in.

It is very quiet, calm place on dam. Rocket tower is old and is just monument in center of dam. Landscape scenes is open to water and sky. Also there is short golf course in lower side of dam.

Built in the last century, this historical building in Singapore is well preserved. Climb to the top of the tower to browse the surrounding reservoirs and golf courses. You can have a panoramic view of the beautiful scenery. I hope the government will not demolish it and keep this beautiful memory for Singaporeans.

Quiet place, good for sunset
Although a popular place to take photos with family and wedding couples, few know that the rocket tower was built to commemorate the moon landing rocket launch in 1969. It definitely looks it’s age aesthetically inside, and that’s one of the reasons I love it.
From the mosaic all over the interior to the old iron gate at the top, it just flows with nostalgia. Perfect for getting that vintage photograph feel.

Great photography spot together with the Lone Tree! This entire place gets a lot of attention from wedding photographers and runners in the evenings, so be more mindful when you’re here, that you don’t mess up the little ecosystem that’s been built over the years.

Windy, old style. Only for healthy heart. Only have 1 final top viewing balcony. Enough to coupe 10 to 15 persons. Can see fascinating surround the upper seletar reservoir. Not very clean. Not adviceable to come late in the dark. Seems like going to be scary.

Upper Seletar Reservoir Park is a serene location and a hot favourite for wedding photoshoots amongst the lush greenery.
In the darkness of nightfall, the water looks like a vast black piece of nothingness. The secluded nature of this location doesn’t help its case, in fact with a single point of entrance through a snaking unpopulated road, you will probably freak out before reaching the parking lots.
The tower has been a focal point of an urban legend that has been circulating for years of sighting of children climbing and laughing on the stairwell after sunset.

A watch tower built many decades ago. Not sure what was the functionality of the tower but it has became one of those Singapore defining landmarks. While many of the surrounding kumpungs that it watches over has faded into history, it stands strong to witness Singapore’s march into the future.
In the past, when the surrounding traffic was not so heavy, the roar of the lions in the nearby zoo can be heard from the foot of the tower.
