It was good.
Fun place for kids under 10. Current installations are super interesting!
Một nơi hoàn hảo cho dân đam mê nghệ thuật. Có nhiều sự kiện triển lãm. Yên tĩnh hơn so với bảo tàng ở Sand Bay và fee cũng tiếp kiệm hơn rất nhiều.
A perfect place for art enthusiasts. There are many exhibition events. Quieter than the museum in Sand Bay and the fee is also much more economical.
An awesome place for night out
Nice place
Lack of stairs can determine older art lovers
Definitely worth it if you are Singapore citizen because it is free. If you are a foreneiger, a big no no.
The main part os SAM is closed for renovation. 8Q welcome temporary exhibitions that are really interested to visit with a free guide.
This place shows modern art.
Interesting cutesy/ quaint exhibits that are quite ‘fluff’ stuff, just to enjoy a simpler child-like life. The cold theatre screens rather cute animations at times.
Nice place
Everybody should definitely visit this. It is different experience. You will get to know new things.
The museum building is closed but the hoarding has new mural works from time to time.
Current exhibition (Imaginarium into the space of time) is interesting and interactive! Enjoyable. Exhibition will be available until 26 August 2018. Loads of photo opportunities and good for kids. There’s also a photobooth where you can take filmstrip photos for just $2. Better than previous experiences at the SAM. Go catch it before it’s over 🙂
Interactive exhibits, suitable for children.
Different art displays all the time
There are some nice exhibitions here at the time of my visit five days ago, ticket for 6 local dollars, relatively cheap in local standards.
You can see some artistic videos which are shown as artworks, and also some very contemporary conception and representatiom of different arts. It worths to pay a visit if you like arts especially cinematic arts. But if you just want to see some fine arts, you would need to wait for opening of the other galleries.
The main museum was nearly closed, probably under renovation. There was only a free exhibition there showing the museum history. I don’t know why the art museum of such a developed state would be nearly closed anytime!
Great Museum! The Imaginary exhibit is very child friendly and entertaining. I find most museums less interesting but this one kept me on the hook. Great guide there as well!
This contemporary art space is rather small, and when I visited it only had 1 exhibition instead of the usual 2 or 3. They did adjust the entrance fee accounting for that fact. Normal price for students are $5, adults $10, children & Singaporeans free. The artworks I saw took lots of space, often an entire room. The works are contemporary, so expect different art forms.
Great museum
Contemporary arts collections
interesting museum but no bookstore in line with the place which remains voluminous.
musée intéressant mais pas de librairie en adéquation avec le lieu qui reste volumineux.
The main building is closed for renovation however the other building 8Q have the lstest installation… check the president young talents showcasing their artwork….. vote for them for the peoples choice award
A must
Interesting place!
I liked the place but there was no notice that the museum was meant for kids.
The museum has 4 floors, it’s true art. But some of them use technology to apply. There is a small admission fee. If you like art, it’s a good idea.
On of the perfect destination to take a pict, make a content or just enjoy the street..
Changing art exhibits in this old building. Very fascinating. Do take a look if an event is on.
Amazing work! Easy to get to. They actually line the sidewalk with directions!
It’s an enjoyable place to spend a couple of hours for both adults n children! Admission is free for Citizens. …
Nice
Not suitable for young children, most exhibitions include violence
For a 8 dollar entry, it is a reasonable price for me. Exhibition was nice although It was much smaller than I expected.
A little intimidating
좀 난해함
Interesting place for the young ones to explore
Every time a new experience Creativity just keeps getting better
Good to explore more local emerging artists’ work with regional perspective
The main museum is closed
only here
美術館本館沒開
只能逛這邊
Worth the visit. Quirky stuff
Fun interactive things to do
One of my favourite museums in Singapore! Cozy and I always like the exhibits here. Easily accessible from bras basah mrt, or a ten minute walk from bugis mrt. Many buses come here too
Marvelous exhibitions at the SAM at 8Q, an extension of the Singapore Art Museum! Located at the heart of the city, the SAM at 8Q features a lot of unique, creative and eye-catching contemporary art exhibitions about Singapore. Also, there are several interactive activities that are targeted at kids. So it’s a great place for family outing! Be ready to have a fascinating visit to the SAM at 8Q!
Imaginarium 2018 – 8Q is a small building and this year’s exhibits weren’t as interesting or interactive. Felt like it needed something more. If you have young children, some of the animation videos shown in the film room may be disturbing for them to watch. What I don’t like about the Imaginarium at SAM or 8Q every year is that there’s always an element of darkness in some of its exhibits which border on evil, which I don’t find to be very appropriate for children. My children leave the place feeling disturbed and unsettled rather than fulfilled. Please rethink what would be tasteful and appealing to children since it’s primed for them.
This place looks cool from the outside. Plus the location is cool. But unfortunately once you get inside – it feels like a canteen
Awesome exhibition!!! The place is cool and chic.
…
The main SAM was closed for renovation so I got directed here. Initially I didn’t know where SAM @ 8Q was but luckily there were arrows pointing to the location.
The current exhibition – Imaginarium, features a diverse range of interactive mixed medium arts, which was quite mind-blowing. There are also friendly museum guides stationed in nearly every room willing to give you some pointers on how to get the most out of the exhibits.
Good place to explore. Caught the imaginarium exhibition aimed for kids
A wonderful experience with a new perspective but the place is a bit small.
I came here with my 4yo for the Imaginarium. There are some interesting exhibits, but the one that she loves the most is a series of tiny photo’s of Singapore embedded in resin scattered over a wooden floor. She borrows my phone and runs around taking 100’s of photo’s of them. And I’m not exaggerating. Worth visiting.
Friendly staff members with superb exhibitions! A lovely place for children and adults to engage in the Arts
Very interesting exhibits on display, many interactive ones as well, quite a family friendly museum as well, due to the nature of the exhibits
Art films presented at SAM 8Q on the Eve of night festival were brilliant! SAM hosts one of the finest display shows on its building during nigh fest. One should Not miss it.
Good art
Pretty good!
Loved it, loved it. Beautiful retreat on a hot afternoon, that is most days.
Wonderful art collection
Temporary holding site while the main branch is closed for new installations. Only a few exhibits, nothing worth paying for.
The main Singapore Art Museum (SAM) is currently under restoration band as such, the exhibitions are held in SAM on 8Q. When I went there, the exhibition was Cinerama. The facility is really interesting as one of the museum attendants told me that it was previously a school and was converted into one of SAM’s exhibition areas. Entrance is free for Singaporeans and PR holders on all days but on Fridays, entrance is free for all if they join the guided tour.
Interesting modern and installation art museum. Sometimes hit and miss.
Great for relaxing and browsing through the different galleries that change occasionally
I really enjoyed my visit here. The exhibits are interactive and with projection and sound a part of the experience. They put bean bags and tables so visitors can sitnand plop down or draw on desks. There is even a stairwell exhibit with songs that inspired the art. The first floor exhibit about the places in singapore has rich detail that is often missing in modern art. It really could be a promo for the tourism board. The staff in each exhibit took the time to explain the art and how to interact with it. Now when have i been to an art museum where the staff did that?
Great modern art exhibitions, free for this 2 weekends for Singapore night festival.
Visited because the Singapore Art Museum was closed (closed for the next 3 years?). The content was well worth watching. It is recommended to see it together with the National Museum.
Singapore Art Museumが休館(向こう3年くらい閉館?)だったので訪問。内容は十分見るに値した。国立博物館と合わせて観るのがオススメ。
For lovers of modern art….
Interesting exhibitions! I enjoyed the weekend guided tours
There will be some time for free, sticks on display, a lot to think about just standing there quietly and watching!
会有一些时间免费,展览根棒,安安静静地站在那里看,会有很多思考!
Depends on the ongoing exhibition, but it was comfortable enough
Wonderful only when there are special exhibits
Only here for SSB
Art Museum
There is standing sushi bar there which has a long queue every mon and Thurs which has sashimi at really cheap prices and good quality!
The art this round was very abstract. And the musuem had some funny smell.
Contemporary museum art for art lover
Mostly installation. Usually there are children friendly exhibitions with hands on activities that makes for fun interactions. The building itself was converted from old Cat High school. May be closed on some days for change of installation.
Smaller than expected.
A good place to enjoy the urban art, etc
Ấn tượng ,âm thanh và ánh sáng
Impression, sound and light
Nothing much to say but some nights there are so many cool things happening over here.

Sweet find. The exhibits do change, sometimes they are awesome, sometimes not. So far they been (mostly) family friendly. Do check online what’s going on before going down.
SAM @ 8Q offers a variety of interactive exhibitions. usually they also have exhibits which are suitable for kids so parents can bring kids for a museum trip too!
On the smaller side, but has Interesting art pieces and you won’t be overwhelming after you visit.
Disappointed by the current exhibition. Was redirected here because the main gallery was closed. $6 is cheap to get into a Singapore gallery but still felt like it was not worth the money!!
Amazing collection of contemporary art from around SEA!!
8Q Singapore Art Musuem is one of my favourite place in Singapore! With their creative, innovative and interactive installation and art works on display…promising hours of entertainment for the family. I am very grateful for the staffs at the musuem for this wonderful place. Definitely a place to check out constantly!
A great experience!
My daughter lile the short stories movie screening
The exhibition space and planning are not bad
Quite worth it!
展覽空間和規劃還不錯
相當值得來!

We really enjoyed visit here.

We really enjoyed visit here.

The exhibition showcased a mix of drawings of local attractions, flipboards that depicted stories when wheeled around fast, and a mini theatre screening cartoons for the children. Free for locals/PRs and S$8 for foreigners.
Annex building of Singapore Art Museum. No need to pay more if you already visited SAM.
When I visited the Singapore Biennale
It was used as an annex.

Some touch, feel, interactive and participate exhibits, a lovely place to enjoy.
Lovely Place
Great for kids and adults alike with plenty of exhibits that educate and engage. The interactive exhibits are popular. The little cinema on L2 plays short animated films that are rather well made.
Nothing much to see
Visited the Imaginarium exhibition. Fun, colorful, enjoyable for families, kids, adults. Various mix of medial shown. Can spend about 1-2 hours here. A well managed place and the exhibits are thought provoking, highly creative and an eye opener into contemporary arts.
Visited the Imaginarium exhibition. A good place to spend a 1 or 2 hours with the kids.
There are exhibitions that can be enjoyed with children. The exhibition is based on the theme of Singapore’s playground, so it would be good to stop by for an outing. There are so many things to experience for the price of admission!
Nice place
Can take many many tumblr photos, especially with the special event booths going on. Nice place to chill if you have time. Free for Singaporeans. Lively place both in the morning and evening.
Nice cinema history
Really fun place to be with anyone (think your partner, friend, family)! Beautiful artwork + cool activities.
Contemporary Arts @ Number 8 of Queen street
Constantly refreshing artwork. Kudos to organisation
so so place
Contemporary museum art
The place is great for art fans. There’s toilets every floor.
Entry is free for SG. However, due to the small size of the museum, would probably only recommend for short trips.
Enjoyed the exhibition at the time. Would like to come back here more often to relax on the weekends.
Nice little place with interesting artwork. Worth spending an afternoon there. But place is a bit too small, probably will be better once the main SAM building is open.

Not much to see considering the price to get in. It was also more aimed at kids than adults so maybe it was just below my age range.
Nice exhibition with engaging activities for kids
Nice staffs
A quiet place to relax and appreciate art
Great place to view local art and more.
Writing while Walking and Other Stories is an artwork by Heman Chong. The text on the wall is written as he walked from his home on Depot Road and around Singapore aimlessly for 8 hours.
Nice high tea.
6$ paid admission for adults and 3$ for students.
It’s not big enough.
I found 7 hidden art works of small mushrooms at the corridor, hall, stairs, doorway and so on.
The place is like play ground with creative storytelling activities for children.
Nice place for family outing
Singapore Art Museum (SAM) at 8Q, opposite St Peter and Paul Church
