Let me share with you the process of ordering.

They stopped the drive-thru, and customers had to wait outside the restaurant unsheltered) for the 1 customer to complete their order first. The order is made at below waist table before they transfer order to the payment kiosk (another side). The checkin QR code is also inward facing so customers can’t scan the code while waiting in queue. The food will lastly be given to you by a staff who has to walk out of the restaurant. But at another corner, there is a table and area for delivery guys to pick up without contact.

Understandably they want to ensure SDM but could have utilised their internal space for customers to wait and used the table for contactless pickup.

For comparison, the fast food restaurant next door which has a small waiting area, do allow customers to wait indoors.

    Just a feedback.

Had the teppanyaki set meals with the family. Chose this one at the TradeHub21 location instead of the one at IMM. The standard of the food was acceptable. Ambience and pace was different (and better, to me) than the usual outlets at IMM and other shopping malls, and service staff were courteous.

The oysters did not taste really fresh. The rest is value for money. Do not go here if you seek high quality authentic japanese food.

Service is prompt and pretty good. Restaurant is situated in an industrial park but the interior is cozy enough. I had their aburi salmon, which although it’s not to my taste, I can see how it can appeal to others. The dish consists of 4 pieces of sushi each with a different topping. I can see the same approach in other selections: rarely you’ll see a dish in it’s original form, it’s usually a variation. So if you like new ways of approaching sushi or traditional Japanese fare, you’re going to like this place. In the case of my sushi, they torched the rice too which was a little too much for me.

Sakae Sushi at Tradehub is a convenient place to go if you like a quiet place to go. Recently a wait might be required due to safe distancing rules. They have a conveyor belt sushi going around the shop, ipad ordering system, and teppanyaki station where the chef can cook in front of you.
I would often go for the duck salad and chawanmushi.
The teppanyaki station tend to produce a lot of smoke to the whole store which might make it hard to breath, should have installed a ventilator above.

This is a standard franchise operation with standard grade food and disinterested employees. If you need a pseudo Japanese food experience and you are in this warehouse trade mall it is there, tucked under the MRT track. This is not a value for money recommendation.

Teppanyaki is the only reason I would visit Sakae, love the beef+foie gras set. I’ve ordered the salmon belly today and it has disappointed me yet again. Came home with upset stomach and was totally expecting it because my hubby and I could both taste that it ain’t fresh.

Ordered Teriyaki Salmon Salad, Salmon Maki together with a free Lava Cake with Ice cream which was a birthday treat on my birthday month.
I would like to highlight the fact that Sakae Sushi only allows one voucher for each visit and vouchers are not stackable.
For HPB e-voucher, you need to spend at least S$50/-.
Therefore, it is advisable to eat with your family and friends in order to use the e-voucher.
Price may be a bit steep, but the food is fresh and delectable.

I frequent this place enough to wonder why i havent yet signed up for membership. Needless to say their food is good. Waiting time though can sometimes be a pain. Freshness is… ok.. i wouldnt say it was mighty fresh, but passable, they seem to have done a good job maintaining quality through its chains. Staff are friendly and as usual would greet you with that loud chorus of what sounds like “wasehmasey” ahahaha!! Seating is cosy enough and location makes it easier to get a seat as it is often not too overly crowded. Parking is a breeze. Over and out, wasehmaseeyyy

It’s been over 6 years since I tried this franchise. Over these years, the standard has dropped drastically while the prices have increased. A dish I ordered, the salmon belly, was pictured as a thicknroll that us served. When the product came, all the 4 pieces possibly make up 1 piece in the picture. Some of the staff try to be friendly whole others just take it as their job. I guess that’s why there are fewer and fewer branches. You might want to consider spending the same amount of money somewhere else for a better experience.

Out of 8 dishes, 2 was out of stock after ordering. And counted 7 floor staff 4 are very busy serving and 1 cashier stayed at the counter… the other two, walk up and down without doing much… of the two actors, there’s a Shawn Loh… came over after raising our hands fanatically and we asked for drinks refilled (which the drinks came very late) he said ok will be back with the refill and left, waking to another table and walk around and cleared a table next to us then when we called out again… acting begin with totally ignoring us. Lucky there’s a lady Chen Yuling came over and help us to refilled in less than a minute as the water jugs is like 5 meters away… have to write this to give appreciation to those that work and exposing those that act only… hope the management can see this review.

I actually prefer this outlet as compared to other branches. Somehow i felt that the ingredients used here are really fresh & nice! Maybe their way of handling food preparation is different i’m not too sure. Love the environment as it is usually not overly crowded. Pricing doesnt match the quality.

For the same quality, a pricing similar to Genki or Sushi Go would be more palatable. (Pun intended).

Sushi, don buri are average at best. Garlic rice is a complete failure(avoid at all cost). Rice Texture is wrong, no garlic smell nor taste at all. Portion is small.

The main pros are not much crowd and fairly ok environment, and carpark is just right up to doorstep.

Quiet place. Nice ambience. Not too crowded at lunch. Wish they had better promotions for lunch. Didn’t have to wait long for lunch but availability of sushi on belt is scarce.. my friend had the seafood ramen.. Prawn wasn’t cooked properly.

If the condition of the toilet can be improved, I am sure it will be even better.

Kind of shocked when the chef uses fire torch to light up my food.

    Great choices … excellent service…

But strange that hot water dispensers were blocked (see photo) . Cut costs? Or to sell drinks?

The deal to go for is the lunch time set. Hey where else to get authentic Japanese hot plate dishes at those prices?

But ladies be warned – the in-house toilet is shameful.

A little disappointed as their teppanyaki is not available ~~ Ordered their sushi instead .

Salmon Sashimi here the slice was being too thick – not as nice as previous.

Soft Shell Crab not fresh, quite disappointing. Else the rest still

Hopefully they will open up their teppanyaki counter soon

Ample parking place. I think was free parking. (TBC).
Food are slightly costly but delicious, so still worth it. The wasabi is good & not those paste type.

One of the first Japanese/sushi chains in Singapore, and it shows…
Need to revamp menu and quality of offerings to compete with the rest of the newer chains.

Having said that, love their teppanyaki offerings, though the portion size is a little too small for my liking.

Meh, average lah. Dont have too high expectations. Just trying to redeem a reward under an App but dont know why they insist on seeing the “picture”? Adding that their office instructed them so. ‍️ nothing in T&C says that I have to! Food is so~so. I only did a takeway. …

I like places that aren’t too crowded, and this is one of the places to get your japanese craving fixed. However, standards are no longer the same and the quality of the food does not corroborates with the price.
