Wah spicy but good kick. Like their sambal
Food is good.
Lontong is always as good here. Never fail me. Delicious n good. Keep it up
One of my favourite Muslim food outlets. Not the cheapest but given the location, is acceptable.
Expensive yet lousy esp the Assam PEdas, small portion some more
one of the best beef randang …
Food is delicious and affordable
Food is delicious and affordable. Have been always my favorite when in JEM.
Good variety of food choices
Above average food. Prices on the high side. Fried rice, noodles and soup dishes available only from noon.
The portions were generous and the food is nice. The chili is absolutely tasty and goes so well with the rice. Personally, I prefer the sweeter curry as gravy over the rice. Only downside for me is the cracker is not as crunchy. Will definitely come back again.
Both horfun and hokkien mee are not under their “all time favorite”, true, both definitely are almost tasteless although with lots of gravvy. Both definitely not reco.
Small area thus seating is limited with some seats being squeezy
Cook is good, serve is ok , thanks
Decent home cooked style Malay meals at affordable prices. It was fragrant and the dishes didn’t taste complicated at all even though they were.
Good food with reasonable price.
But Everyday crowded.
Food served fast n staff clear table is efficient. I give 3 stars bcos the ondeh2 kueh (size of small marble) 1pc is $0.80…very2 expensive not worth trying
Food ok ok…not really appeal to my taste bud
Awesome food. From the escalator you can see the brightness of the food. The taste is as good as the look.
The fish head curry is good, comes with tahu goreng.
They have nasi padang too.
Crowded during lunch hours.
Rumah Sayang is located in Jem !!
Their popular dish is the Curry fish head ,
But I have not try yet !! I like the Ayam
Merah, chicken curry with spicy and sweet
Sauce!! And the other popular dish is the Mee Rubus !!
The portions were generous and the food is nice. The chili is absolutely tasty and goes so well with the rice. Personally, I prefer the sweeter curry as gravy over the rice. Only downside for me is the cracker is not as crunchy. Will definitely come back again.
So so not bad for quick lunch
Delicious Malay and Peranakan food!
Delicious food but too salty.
Reasonably priced, open very early, fast service, some dishes available in the morning, like nasi lemak and mee curry.
Nice selection of dishes with affordable prices. Taste is also good.
Fish head curry gravy was perfect, reasonably priced set meal for 2
Fab fresh food. Nice staff.
Love the food,always fresh!
Good food never miss, you must try. Value resoneble remark try it.
Went for lunch, Nasi Padang is nice especially the curry gravy. Dont forget to buy Kueh Lopez is super soft and melts in your mouth.
Loving the Mee Siam …
Amazing stuff. The curry had such aromatic and deep flavours to it I can’t say I’ve had anything like it before; and the lady’s fingers were some of the tastiest I’ve ever had – very tender and flavorful. Of the bunch I’d say the otah is the least impressionable – quite flat and bland. My wife had the lotong and she’s full of priase for it as well. The food is a little more pricey than average but I think it’s certainly worth it. Highly recommended!
First time trying nasi Padang in this shop, tempted by the crowd. It’s always full house during lunch. I ordered 2 meats 1 veggie cost me $8.80. I had a slice of fish, squid and ladies fingers with ayam merah gravy and sambal belacan. The spiciness was mild for me. Overall food is average and their sets come with drink but I didn’t order the set with drinks. They also sell some kuih-muih but didn’t manage to try their kuih.
It have decent dishes for the rice but their meat dishes are over priced. The atmosphere is like a typical food court with old fashion decorations.
The curry fish – head yummy and love the Tea tarikk is nice …
Good taste but the not for the price
The price is expensive & the seafoods noodles that I bought tastes was terrible due to hungry got no choice had to eat it,but my friend bought Nasi Padang she said taste good. Somehow this is my first & last.
Always the curry fish head, the taste of the gravy is so perfect though the fish head is abit small but veg inside is generous …
Taste likes home cook food
That is ~nasi lemak~ rice with fried chicken alongside egg with chillied cucumbers. Bite it then gulp it for maximum surface area. Alongside salty fish with peanuts
Nice food
I personally like the chili squid, very spicy. The fragrance of nasi lemak rice add to the tasty meal together with veg. Laksa taste normal. They got wide variety of choice for side dish to eat with plain rice or nasi lemak rice.
This place offer variety of Malay foods and price reasonable. This is my first time trying the food. The binjal fried with chilli is very delicious.
Nice food
Love it place to eat variety food..all food fresh…the place clean…the staff all friendly and helpful.
Awesome
Good food
Am satified deeply with the food.
Just 1 feedback guys
The chicken thigh and drum in the ayam masa merah and curries should be cooked longer or thawed properly. A very rubbery feel. Perhaps i can suggest you buy a pressure cooker to soften the meat before u cook. With that its a thumbs up all the way.
Food is not bad but staff pretty disorganised. No thanks to the Corvid19 measures.
Liked the chilli types of vegetables but everytime I eat, I had diarrhea for few days, not sure what is inside that I’m probably allergic to. I’ve tried 3 times, will never patronise this stall again
Delicious peranakan style halal food, wide variety to suit everyone. Normal dish of 3 types of food costs $6.80 a plate.
I came here for the first time in the holiday, trip to IMM, i visit this place. What an amazing food, the staff is very friendly. And the taste of food is so delicious, very very suitable for Indonesian tongue like me.
Restaurant selling good selection of Malay cuisine. Quite popular with shoppers and those working in or around the mall. Hence, it can be difficult to get a seat/table during meal times. Best to come early/before or after the lunch and dinner crowd. Serving portion is alright.
Nice Malay foods
Variety of foods
Food not bad
Average nasi padang. Beef rendang was hard and lacked any authentic taste.
It is located at the basement of jem and serves traditional singapore cuisine from malay, indian to nyonya.
Since this is inside a shopping mall, expect prices to be relatively more than a hawker center but still affordable.
Food wise, most food is edible and normally i notice families will eat their curry fish head set.
An alternative if fast-food joints aren’t to your liking.
Excellent food & service
Best lopes at home dear Jem.
…
Delicious Malay n Peranakan food
…
Food okay and like their marble top tables
Nice food, especially the curry fish head. Very disappointed this time, my first time to buy after CB and the fish head has strunk and not generous with veg which was not like this.
Love it
Nice
Like mie rebus
Good Malay food. Lopeh excellent.
I came here for the first time in the holiday, trip to IMM, i visit this place. What an amazing food, the staff is very friendly. And the taste of food is so delicious, very very suitable for Indonesian tongue like me.
Crowded
I am a fan of the kind of food served at this place. Couldn’t find another place in this vacinity with these kinds of cuisines. The sitting area is nice, hygiene is 7 out of 10 for the kind of price they charge but the taste of the food is amazing. This place has noodles as well, but I haven’t tasted them. I usually do rice with a few meat options. I usually make my own plate so the price usually fluctuates and the bill always is more than I expected. If you are looking for budget eating instead of making your own plate ask for set with a fix price where you get 1 meat + 2 veg + rice or similar combinations. I will definitely recommend eating at this place.
Unfortunately the food is so so but the price is a little on the high side
Mee soto is marvellous. Thick gravy & the spiciness level is just right. Add sambal kicap for extra ‘kick’. Service is quite fast …
Foods were good but quite expensive
Nice food
Loved it
Quality food reasonable prices, very good. I had Beef Rendang rice and veg, beef was cooked very nice.
quite nice
Good food.
Nasi lemak was tasty and really enjoyed the chicken wings. Glad i found this place
Coming here for the 2nd time because of the taste and the wide varieties of dishes they have. The price is quite high. But the reason for the 3 stars is their service. The staff are quite rude, impatient and loud.
Here for the food not for the service. Aunties here are generally grumpy and would not hesitate to snap at you.
All good but not exceptional, good for a no-frills meal. Service is ok, food is not too bad, price is affordable but not cheap. Tried the 2 pax curry fish head set which came with tahu goreng and 2 rice for $19.90. The dishes took awhile to prep but came hot. The fish was only half, slightly small. Tahu goreng was done right and portion was good. The curry was good! However, it can be too spicy and sour for many. Order extra kang kong which was cold, but taste-wise is good. Overall i would say taste and variety is good but price, portion and service have some room for improvement.
Delicious nasi lemak in the morning.
Food quality getting poor. Quantity of dishes served not as much as last time. Wife said the white rice served, got those kind of smell like keep very long.
Came here to eat breakfast, love the laksa nicely cook creamy taste gravy
One of my to go place for fish head around the area
Good service and great food. Simple food like meesiam and prata taste so good! Perfect for families.
Had the beef rendang and enjoyed it. It’s a smallish place and it’s always crowded, so you have to queue up. But the food is worth it and affordable.
Food is good just that currently going through some renovation, thus the ventilation is a bit bad…
Tasty nasi padang worth a try if u’re in the area. However prices have been creeping up like with many other places…
$6.90 for one meat two veg now. Additional 30cents for beef/seafood.
Lots of friendly aunties serving a wide selection of dishes. 4pm now as i finish eating and there are 12 tables with people, so it seems popular even before peak time.
Love the atmosphere and friendly crew .Food is absolutely fantastic.
It’s good and forever crowded as it’s the one of the VERY FEW non-fastfood halal places in JEM and Westgate combined, which is such a shame. I wish the sambal belachan was more spicy and less sour.
Got mee rebus satay, mee siam, 2 chicken wings and coffee for $17.70. Food is mediocre and pricey. The absolute downer is the workers allow people to cut queue. There was a lot of confusion about the queue and the workers allow their regulars/friends to cut queue. Even while I was eating, the queue confusion continued. For goodness sake, put up some poles, signs and lines to clear the confusion.
A little pricey. Mee siam.. Not to die for
We had the mee rebus, nasi lemak, teh tarik and teh alia for breakfast. Mee rebus is very tasty, got the traditional taste. Nasi lemak was very good too! The chilli and the chicken wing very crispy. The teh tarik was normal. Hubby say Teh Alia very spicy but shiok. For those who like spicy ginger tea will like.
Delicious food….had their nasi padang of sweet and sour fish with brjnjals and ladies fingers during 1st visit. 2nd visit was curry fish head combo…not quite to my liking but was ok, their prawn fritters was yummy and a must have. Affordable and compatible prices, will return to try their ayam merah….and of course the prawn fritters!
Nice various types of yummy malay halal food. Fast service.
My first time here, tried the lontong and the prata. Very nice and the service from the aunties is great. Old school service which I love. Food quality is great. Not bad for ice coffee.
Friendly staff excellent food
Good food. We had fisi head curry set, very tasty
Ordered black pepper chicken and vegetable. Taste was mediocre and a lil too pricey.
Apr 2019. I loved the food here. We ordered Kailan, spinach, sambal fish and chicken curry.
Everything was so deliciously done and tasted home-cooked.
Other than the nice food, i saw a harmonious working culture here. The younger Malay staff could speak Mandarin and were respectful to an elderly Chinese auntie.
Lots of positive energy.
Waited forever for 2 pkt of salted fried fish and tom yum.fried rice. kept pushing dish for nasi padang. Sad …
Food price are reasonable but some kuih kuih are expensive
Slight expensive but it is reasonable. Cozy, clean and tasty food.
A lot of great food to taste out house because of the virus
Food taste great. Abit pricey though
Awesome!
Slightly pricey if not using shopback voucher.
Good tasty food.
Tasty beef rendang.. 2 pax at $13.60. The beef is tough but is very flavourful! The Chili quail egg is not to my liking as it’s sweet. Other than that the food tasted appetising and won’t mind go back again..
Just have Mee Rebus and Ayam Merah. Food …
Not exactly cheap but food is good
Delicious prenakan Malay food
Nice food
The foods are good, but the server need to to be more polite. Imagined it was before noon and not that many customers and the server already getting impatient. Maybe her bad day!
Love their dishes, fresh and tasty
Food is alright . Long queue during lunch hour (weekend). They have order in menu beside normal nasi padang style but it open on 12pm onwarda only.
Sometimed I wonder what drives a business like Rumah Sayang! Food is nice & many varieties but my goodness the portion is so little & it’s so pricey!
Really delicious and too many great choices. Queue was long but we were lucky to get our seats. Would eat here again when Im around next time!
Food was nice . …
Always love the Malay food here. Never dissapoint
Absolutely love the food, 5 stars for food.
Service very inconsistent, sometimes can really be quite terok, 2 star!
Mee Rebus.
Enjoy the mee rubus
Acceptable … Their asam pedas taste like curry ! Price wise affordable . A can of cold drink is $2 ..
Nasi padang is expensive but fresh. This place is legit fresh.
Good food. Good price for a mall setting.
Excellent food
All time fav fish head curry
Great quality food. Love the decor but I’ll would have given 5 stars if it weren’t for couple of flies that were bugging me round the table.
The food was excellent with good proportion and reasobly priced. Must try the ice coffee
Foods are delicious
Have tried at various nasi padang places in Singapore and this one does not disappoint. Thoroughly enjoyed the food. Generous serving of the beef rendang. Tender and rich in taste. Pricing is alright and definitely a must try!
Ordered n paid for my mee goreng. Asked me to take a sit. After 15mins, they realised they’d forgotten my order. Food is good but service needs to improve.
Nice Nasi Padang and egg prawn laksa and teh tarik
Good and tasty food served.
Value for money and lots of freshly fried vegetables in different style.
Only one point that to higjlight…..its always long queue especially lunch tim
Food is taste but price a bit on the high side.
Ordered their chicken bryani. Portion is rather huge. Acar is nice, chicken is a bit on the hard side. Gravy is ok but towards sweet side. Overall still acceptable although price is on the high side
One of the very nice Nasi Padang in Singapore
Food is good with many choices, the drinks are very pricey though (a normal cup of iced milk tea for $2.70…)
Went for lunch. Ordered two veg and chicken nuggets. $6.50? Looks good but tasted so so. A bit watered down. Second rung compared to good ones elsewhere. They were busy though. So much for following the crowd.
Not recommended.
Bought 1 piece of Kueh Kaswi and One piece of ondeh ondeh..both the size of a 50 cent coin…was charged 0.80 each. This was my first time buying the kueh from there and will for sure be my last time. Way tooo Expensive. I can get a better deal elsewhere.
Place is clean n comfy but small. The Mee Rebus used to be my fav but standard has dropped..
You’ll get fabulous Malay/Baba-Nyonya cuisine here…
Awesome!!!
The food was rather delicious
Average Malay food that’s expensive :/
Good
RS nasi padang and other items taste better than Red Ginger (IMM). Their curry fish head and sayor lemak gravy are thicker. The Tauhu Goreng (free with curry fish head)is bigger than IMM.
Nice food, clean restaurant and fast service
Gd service…nice food served.
Have a variety of Peranakan food.
Baba-style cooking is also added with Indian cooking. The curry fish head is the most popular, enough for three people. There is also a plate of fried tofu, two plates of white rice, and a cup of milk tea. Satisfy happiness!
峇峇式的享饪,还加上印度煮炒,其咖哩魚头最受欢迊,足供三人食用,又有油炸豆腐—碟,白饭两盤赠送,配上奶茶—杯,很有满足幸福感!
Love eating their food
Lots of variety foods and delicious too. The service is very orderly and friendly. The price is reasonable too.
Among the best local dishes in the west
The curry fish head set is nice.
Have always wanted to try this much touted stall and finally got a chance to. Gosh… Food is good but it sure is expensive! I can’t believe I paid $11 for a plate of rice, beef rendang, chicken wing, and 2 vegs. One kailan and one cabbage. I honestly wasn’t expecting this price tag when I was looking at the menu, as the nasi lemak cost an acceptable $6.50. My friend ordered that and added a fish, and it totaled up to $9.50 for his… $3 for sweet and sour fish slices? Totally not worth it.
But still, I thoroughly enjoyed the food.
Tasteless chicken curry, portion very small, have to ask for chilly sauce, not worth money
Good chicken curry
Good eating place with resonable price
Great environment and nice food
Well it used to be quite Good with the traditional (Malay) food but after today it seems like Standard dropped. But the rendang is not bad failed was the curry chicken gravy got no taste. Still a popular eating ground at Jem. Can try to see (individually) the taste . That’s why I gave a 3 star. Hopefully they improve. Surrounding you have a NTUC / Banks are conveniently located. Still at this stage are Crowded.
Affordable Curry Fish Head for 2 pax $20.90 comes with 2 rice with crackers, 1 tofu goreng. Dine comfortably with spacious and clean environment.
Nice little Malay/peranakan place tucked in basement. Unfortunately the laksa was very sweet with too much sugar added. The rest of menu items such as lontong, mee siam, nasi padang are better. They’ve been open here for a long time, maybe more than 5 years, so business should be good, just don’t go for the laksa.
I like their varieties of dishes to choose.
Limited time high tea set promotion during 3pm to 5pm is highly recommended. Laksa selling at 2.9 during this period
Just had a plate of nice nasi padang with the red curry chicken drum stick (ayam merah), stir fried lady’s finger and brinjal and a good dose of their freshly made sambal belachan. Yummy!
This eatery serves malay cuisine as well as halal certified chinese style cuisine. Very popular with our locals craving for some spicy food or chinese style halal food.
There is always a queue for the ready to order and eat items and a longer wait for speciality items like curry fish head, tau hu goreng, fried rice, hor fun etc.
I just love their freshly made sambal belachan chilli (would be even more heavenly if they zest in the limau purut peel). Their ayam merah is just so yummy, u gotta try to believe it! YUMMY!!!
Delicious! Rendang quality flux slightly, meat at times rather tough.
Had e curry fish set. Food were all rite, but price is reasonable and cheap.
The food was pretty average. I have had much better nasi padang at haji lane / Arab street area. There was just something lacking in the taste of the food. Unlikely to revisit.
Food is superlicious.
Good but expensive
Good food and superb taste
Tasty and affordable. Need to wait for a while during peak period. Staff are all friendly.
I always love their food.. wide variety to choose from. Feels like eating home cooked meal
Spicy malay peranakan food. Value for money.
a bit expensive but taste delicious
Food is always good. Staff are friendly.
Beef rendang is tender, Biryani rice is fluffy and fragrant.
Food good price a bit expensive
Food is fantastically sedap.
Poorly organised queuing system.
Nice malay food
Do not walk around JEM b1 at around 7am. You will not be able to tolerate their smell of fried food.
Tasty
Place feel like the 70s..or Penang Malacca style..The Serving crews Ok except for 1 lady kind of high toned voice, kind of a bit impolite.
Very reasonable and good food. Had 2 veg and a curry chicken thigh. Yummy. Seating is rather restricted because of lunch time crowd, but if you go earlier, shd be no problem.
Tastes good but quite expensive. This is 5.80, but 5 stars still cos yummy chilli.
We ordered the fish head curry set for 2. The fish head was fresh, the curry fragrant. The Thai fried tofu also nice! Add-on order of meesiam and it was sweet and sour (I love its sourness). Read some of the past reviews and figured prolly today we got lucky?… Other than the fish head set for 2 ($19.90), I agree that the prices are steep (meesiam $4.80; coke $2)
Best red cock ever!
Best ayam merah ever!
Always love the food here!
Good food and affordable price.Love their fish head curry.
Order nasi lemak and beef rendang set, the beef are hard to chew and nasi lemak taste so so..
Curry fish head is nice and price is resonable
The curry fish head set is great. Good for two people to share.
Great variety of halal asian cuisines. Abit pricey than normal hawker centres.
Delicious once
I love the taste of the food
Yummy My favorite is the sambal
Sedapp Sekali
Saya Suka Rasa Masakannya
Yummy Kesukaan Ku Sambalnya
I have been eating at Rumah Sayang for past 2 years.I usually eat their fish and vegetables. What amazes me is the staff’s attitude: they are courteous and full of smiles when serving their customers.
I like the curry fish head.
Good place n food
Good food in malay restaurant
Very good nasi padang dishes like vegetable lodeh, red chicken, fried chicken wings, spicy assam fish……also freshly prepared mee siam, mee rebus and nasi lemak.
Very good nasi padang dishes like sayur lodeh, ayam merah, fried chicken wings, ikan assam pedas……also serves mee siam, mee rebus and nasi lemak.
The staff was not any attention of my order
The food is very delicious, and I think with no artificial flavors. The price is also not too expensive.
It tastes good and the price is cheap
…
Fish head curry is the best. That’s all you need to order
Amazing stuff. The curry had such aromatic and deep flavours to it I can’t say I’ve had anything like it before; and the lady’s fingers were some of the tastiest I’ve ever had – very tender and flavorful. Of the bunch I’d say the otah is …
Their lontong sayur is so yummy
good food. but not cheap
Great rice view in the west
…
Fish head curry is the signature!
Loved coming to RUMAH SAYANG at JEM, Jurong East for malay cuisine food. Most food are freshly cooked. Vegetables are cooked with perfect crunchy texture. Varieties of food to choose from.
Cosy place for a bite
Love the hustle and bustle here. Wide variety of Malay food options and affordable prices.
Delicious Malay food like lontong mee siam nasi lemak n tasty coffee…
Filling our tummy with good food
Quite a few staff members, especially the male cashier, are rude and grumpy but the sumptuous food more than makes up for this. Lunch can be busy so go early.
We had nasi padang, tauhu goreng and Tom yum fried rice. Very satisfied and enjoyed our meals.
