This time went down for dinner and no doubt had the same food quality as we had for lunch. Dinner was also less crowded, being a weekend. Variety of dishes are more, with good choices of sharing dishes. They do accept all credit cards during dinner and something to note is that all diners must compulsorily order a drink

A decent after office hours Izakaya that is affordable and largely people friendly. Place is bright and seats are well spaced.
Food is decently priced, nothing shocking and quality corresponds according to the price gauge. Promotional beers and sakes are rather value for money compared to neighboring shops. All in all, a good joint to grab a couple of beers and bites with colleagues after a long day at work.

    Yakitori – too dry

The pork curry rice was great, well prepared and delicious. The restaurant itself is clean so the staff could be a bit more patient when taking orders even so it is busy. They have a great selection of alcohol so maybe we should come back in the evenings to try.

Been here many times with friends and Family. However, just been highlighted twice by a waitress that we cannot bring own food for young kids in this establishment as with EVERY restaurants. It could be we have been lucky to dine in all other restaurant that didn’t enforce such policy, but i guess we wouldn’t be back for a long time till the kids grow up and can start to eat the salty/MSG food outside. For Adults, the food taste good though. First time feeling so unwelcomed, probably only good to go ONLY with adults. Always thought a Japanese restaurant are pro family, but guess times have changed.

A dependable post-workout staple for me.

The quality of the food isn’t always consistent – the grilled shioyaki is liable to be overcooked/tough 10% of the time – but they have a great range of dishes – including comforting teishoku sets that they serve till late, which is a unique proposition (because most other izakaya will default to bar food).

    Their oden is also excellent.

Real nice Izakaya with focus on both Japanese food and traditional drinks like Shochu. Food selection is good for a small restaurant and their set meal is good value for money. Sapporo Draft is priced at $5.5 all day. Pretty good deal. Sadly they stop operating on Saturday, which is my preferred day to visit.

    Authentic Kyoto style casual izakaya.
Mama san was quite hearty and attentive to the customers by understanding their preferences and convenience through friendly chat by memorizing their respective names correctly, and to make them always feel comfortable and at home. That is why this place was long loved especially by Kyoto origin Japanese.
However she recently left here unfortunately.

By that time of the day I kind of got tired of caring about picture quality but this place was really bustling with an after-work kind of liveliness. People coming and going, long-sitting patrons (rambunctious after their alcohol fixes) and whatever have you. There were also many Japanese expats in the izakaya needless to say, as the lady boss was a nihonjin herself.

Skewers were good, beef was juicy and well-seasoned. Great way to be transported into another universe for 1-2 hours, I must say.

An authentic Japanese izakaya serving popular izakaya dishes. Warm and prompt service. Seafood is not their strength. But serving portions are very generous. Small but good selection of sake, shoju and beer. Generally crowded on weekdays from the office crowd hence reservation is recommended. Weekend is a good place to dine as it is not too rowdy. Very very reasonably priced. Will definitely visit again.

One of my favorite Izakaya in Singapore.
It is located in Telok Ayer which is quite covenient to reach.

Whenever I go, I order 1 big bottle of Sake on promotion. It’s around $99 but around 3 liters.

Side dishes are just nice to eat.
    I love Tako Wasabi here.
I seldom eat side dishes when I drink beer or Sake.
Quite many choices of finger food.
    Recommend!!

Amazing ambience and equally amazing food! The specials that we ordered tasted just like the food we had in Japan. The prices aren’t too crazy.

It was a typical Japanese Izakaya.
There were many types of alcohol and a wide variety of food.
Prices were typical for the area.

I ordered 5 yakitori platter, but it was probably baked twice, and it was cold even though it was browned.
The meatballs were dry and the thigh meat was dry and had a slight smell.

The grated daikon radish served with the salted fish was delicious. Occasionally, when I eat grated daikon radish at a Japanese restaurant in Singapore, it’s not grated, but crushed with a chopper, but this restaurant did it properly.

The store was very hygienic and the staff was polite and nice.

A sign of a good restaurant is usually when they’re always busy and a sign of a good Japanese restaurant, especially when not in Japan is when it’s frequented but a lot of Japanese customers. Raku Raku ticks both these boxes and is a very authentic Japanese restaurant experience. Right down to the Japanese tv shows playing on TV’s hanging on the walls. The staff were efficient and resourceful as they even helped ask the Chef to make a dish we’d ask for (kaki fried oyster) that wasn’t on the menu. The food overall was pretty good but not amazing, we had beef cubes which were tasty but a little hard. And the sashimi was fresh but not outstanding. Having said that the night was fun as the drinks flowed and the atmosphere was one of working people enjoying a good night out to unwind with friends. It was a little noisy, but that was part of the charm. The price was also pretty reasonable so if you want a fun night out with no frills, be sure to give Raku Raku a try.

Restaurant and service were good. However, we ordered “Shiokara” and “Yakitori Moriawase” with Sho-chu. Shiokara taste was normal, but disappointed of Yakitori taste. It was not fresh enough, and one beef was tough, and tebasaki (Chicken wing) was uncooked . We can immediately realized Yakitori was warmed by microwave before they were served, not like cooking them after we ordered.

    3.5-4 stars.

    Food quality: Pretty good!

Food portion / Price: Portions felt a little small for the dinner sets, priced at around $20. Beer promotional sets (jug $25, tower $45) for communal sharing.

Service: Order and served by waiter / waitress who seem to be Japanese.

Crowd: Cozy place that wasn’t too bustling on weekday night, unlike some of the neighbouring eateries.

Payment: non cash options a single as expected for a restaurant.

Quality of food and service was not consistent with prior visits. Service staff seemed inexperienced and had to rely on their manager if they wanted to do anything more than serve food (e.g., showing us to our table, taking orders) and so service was slow, as it was difficult to get the attention of someone who would be able to help us. I think there might be a bit of a language barrier, and we could not understand what the staff was trying to communicate sometimes.

The food was on the salty side and portions are small, but the main issue was how soggy most of our food was. One dish was supposed to have kimchi in it, but didn’t look like it had kimchi, and it certainly didn’t taste like it had kimchi. Disappointing as I definitely enjoyed their food before this.

I think the fried chicken here is the best in the world.
It’s not the recent incomprehensible potato starch or other fancy clothes, but the old-fashioned fried chicken.
If you want to eat fried chicken, go here.
The fried chicken set meal is so large that women can’t eat it, and it’s cheap. the best.
