Very friendly staff who’s accommodating to our requests. Dinner with 24 pax and food was great. They even allowed us to bring our own cake with no extra charge; provided us with plates & utensils for cake cutting too.

Authentic Hakka food with generous serving and warm hospitality. Their food are homemade dishes that will warm the cockles of your heart. The boss treats customers like friends and ensures that they are well taken care of. Would recommend making reservations on weekend as they would be packed.

We don’t have too many people so we could only sample some of their Hakka dishes but so far all have been fantastic. The boss even threw in a small appetizer Hakka spring roll which I guess was to thank us for our patience in waiting for a table. Services were good! Felt quite homely and like the older days when you still can see the boss in the restaurant, which is unlike most other that have been commercialized. Price was reasonable.

Traditional and cozy restaurant serving Hakka food. Had the yellow wine chicken, abacus seeds, hakka yong tau foo, veggies.
All dishes were flavourful as expected from Hakka cuisine, food portions are appropriate sized too. We ordered small sizes each dish, and it was good for 1-2 ppl serving. Some dishes were unavailable, but service staff told us that they will be returning soon. Service was good and attentive, serving tea promptly. Worth a try if in the area!

An old school Hakka food restaurant, the Hakka food are authentic, recommend their salty chicken, 梅菜扣肉, 酿豆腐. Their services also pretty old school, called multi times to make reservations and they finally picked up and gave me a mobile number to WhatsApp them, and took them many days to confirm the reservations. And seem like they can only take set meal order, took them forever to add dishes.

Bought during CB period. Gave them a WhatsApp and ordered my food. Food was ready on time for pick up and price was very reasonable. Spent $50+ for 4 dishes. Gave free ngoh hiang too! Salt bake chicken was the star dish.

Edit: Came here for a second time, however, this time their chicken was extremely bland. Not salty at all. Very disappointed that the food was not consistent. Will try them another time and hope that it will be back to its original quality this time, if not I don’t think I would continue to patronise them.

Food is delicious and price is very reasonable. 5 of us and less then $100. They offer us a free dish tat taste like shrimp roll & free sweet potato soup. I love the 梅菜扣肉 which is awesome. The stuffed toufu in Claypot is quite large so it takes up most of our stomach space!

Traditional Hakka food, very good taste. I will recommend, the chicken, 扣肉 and 酿豆腐。The taste very authentic . In the downside, service was not as good. You cannot have too much variance in your order. They cannot cope with that, just only the set will be the best for them. Lastly it gets crowded during peak hours. Also difficult to find parking.

Celebrated three birthdays here all at once with my friends. To begin with, i had never tried this restaurant before and also not a fan of Hakka food. The dishes were ordered by my friend and I would say that some hit and misses among all the food. But it might be due to the fact that I’m not a fan of Hakka food to begin with. I’m sure this place cooked up some traditional Hakka fare. Personally I liked the salted chicken which was something new to me. The 梅菜扣肉was another impressive dish as well. For the rest of the dishes, I was quite neutral about their taste as I’m a teochew. Anyway, cozy little establishment with that homely feel.

One of the oldest hakka restaurant in Singapore. Bamboo windows, hazardous power sockets with too many plug-ins, round table with my grandmother’s tablecloth, newspaper cutout on a piece of cupboard for a menu, and 1970s kampung photos made up the interior. Food looked homecooked, but the flavours are just….wow. Saucy salted chicken that fall off the bones paired with scallion oil dip, an unseemingly normal tofu with meat that exploded with umani, and a wok-hei fried-egg noodles are just some of the highlights. Love the vibes, would love to see this place stay like this.

Edit: Sitting by the windows, i saw the waiter rushing out with a bag of food towards a waiting car with windows rolled down. So they still do food pickup like the old days! Just so much memories!

A very traditional looking shop and my friend commented she felt like shes back home in China. The 梅菜扣肉was really good. Not overly seasoned and jus right with rice. Love the salted chicken, simple but yet can taste the original taste of the dish. The chilli is really good as some reviewers have commented. 算盘子is very unique.. unlike the commercial selling ones that’s very chewy, this is slightly more towards sour and also very powdery full of yummy yam rather than flour.

Heard of this shop from reviews by some friends and decided to check it out. First feel is that the shop is really old school and authentic.

We chose the 4 pax package. The hakka noodles and suan pan zi felt like it was pre cooked, instead of cooked fresh. The taste of the hakka noodles were abit disappointing in the sense that it was to the blender side. However, this might be because the other dishes are saltier and the noodles might be meant to be eaten with the other dishes.

The yong tau foo is really nth to shout out about. Average at best.

The 梅菜扣肉 was towards the saltier side, but I really like the flavor. I would have given a higher rating if the pork was more tender. But some people like it that way. The chicken was nicely done.

Their chillis are a must try for those who are in for a kick and it really blends well with all the dishes.

Staff was courteous, efficient, and nice. One thing I really liked was that this restaurant serves Chinese tea or warm water foc. Which is so hard to find nowadays and something I really appreciate.

Overall, price was very decent and it is a nice establishment to support and visit. All da best to their business.

In my personal opinion, overall experience just average. Service is a struggle during lunch with only 1 or 2 staff available for the whole restaurant. Understandable… but…

The most disappointing is the quantity of the food served. Small portion is pretty much for 1 pax. While even medium at best is 3 pax. The worse dish is the steam chicken. Priced min. at $18.80 and smallest available is only medium size, full of bones & very little meat. I have to clean the bones like a vulture so there will be meat for my lady friends. I dare to say never in my life to eat such tiny quantity at such price.

Food in pics total up to $90 for 3 pax. Sorry last min. take because trying all food with too high expectations i guess…

Other than that, overall food taste like home cook. Nothing impressive much. Perhaps great place for older folks. Most customer i see are old people. Just observations…

Despite all the fave reviews, the place didn’t quite live up to the expectations.

At least for my taste, I found it average. People who like 清淡 (less strong) taste may likebit more. Resturant level price. Average value for money. I had the pig stomach soup, abacus yam 选盘子, preserved vegetable with pork 梅菜扣肉 and 酿豆腐 and they gave a plate of complimentary Niong Hiong.
The pig stomach soup was ok – do not taste pepperish (for those that lile it this way) quite some ingredients.
The Abacus yam was ok. Not chewy like the one my mom can make. I do not know hows the original supposed to be.
The preserved vegetable with pork was ok – but portion small.
    The 酿豆腐 was not bad.

Been to this Hakka Restaurant 18 years ago back than graded this as a pretty authentic Hakka food. Today I ventured this restaurant again together with my family. Order the sets meal with Yong Tao Fu, Mei Cai Pork, Salty chicken etc, Frist comments is too salty base on today standard , and Yong Tao Fu some taste is missing I think the Yong Tao Fu at Toa Payo Lor 1 taste better. If your expectations is not too high for a decent meal is not that bad but If you are expecting an authentic Hakka food you maybe disappointed ️. Staff are friendly compliment to the food. Unpleasant experience as the restaurant is very small. If you reserve a table of 4 or less, you are seated in the middle where you constantly get bumped into or have to get up to let others walk past. This is the real deal! The most under-rated Chinese restaurant. It’s hard to find an authentic hakka restaurant at affordable price range. Have been here twice in a week, the salted chicken, preserved veggies w pork belly, home made beancurd, traditional beancurd, pig stomach soup, abacus ball, radish meatball – are all fantastic. I have to say this is probably the most authentic Hakka restaurant in Singapore. It serves very simple Hakka foods, but every dish is so good. It’s not a posh restaurant. But this is the place where you get the real good Hakka food. The owner is very friendly, always walks around to see that you are well taken care of. The restaurant is small, probably can only accommodate eight tables. So it’s probably a good idea to have a reservation.

The food was very light. Compared with the usual Chinese Asian dishes the food tastes more like home cooked dishes done by your grandma. Not very flavourful but not bad in general. Simply put it nothing really stands out much, but it’s a cozy place to have home made food. The only downside was probably the heat inside. The aircon was not working even though there are two. We kept sweating during the dinner. Hope it can be fixed.

Earnest and humble restaurant. It is as though you are invited to a Hakka family to enjoy a meal in their home. Delicious, authentic, generous and affordable. For those who enjoy having restaurant food that does not have a ‘central kitchen / factory’ taste, this is definitely a place worth trying.

    The dishes we tried are:
    1. 客家付卷 – Hakka Beancurd Fritters
    2. 客家酿豆腐 – Hakka Yong Tou Foo
    3. 梅菜扣肉 – Braised Pork with Preserved Vegetable
    4. 蚝油奶白 – Nai Bai in Oyster Sauce
    5. 东江盐鸡 – Steamed Chicken
    6. 萝卜丸 – Radish Balls

Note: Some dishes (especially the steamed chicken) may be a tad salty for some; but it’s perfect for me!

At last get to try this Hakka restaurant. Ordered a set for 4 at SGD48. Really worth it. Taste is close to original Hakka village claim by grandma. Do book early to avoid disappointment. Am lucky to walk in n have a seat.

Ordered a set for 4, priced at 48$. Yong tau foo was good, but everything else was not. Had just 3 pieces of pork and the abacus seed was completely mushed up. chicken was extremely dry and tasteless, not a hakka dish… Sad

Have not tried many Hakka dishes before and this is the first time eating at authentic Hakka restaurant. Environment is cozy but cramped due to too many tables and chairs, food is not bad but portion is small, limited parking at the vicinity, price is slightly more expensive then normal Zhi Char.

The salted chicken costs $16+ for half a chicken and tastes worse than any chicken you can buy at a hawker centre or food court. Yong tau foo also very bland. So why still three stars? Well if you want to eat out “healthy” like what a very old grandmother concerned about her family’s health would cook, then I would recommend this place. If you want tasty, juicy, well marinated, then you should skip this place. So I guess people either love or hate it, depending on what they are looking for. But it’s still too expensive for what you get imo.

A Hakka restaurant that’s been around for decades. Pork with preserved vegetables, salted chicken, and the stuffed tofu are their mainstays.

Has authentic hakka food. Esp their abacus seeds.
Their 4 pax takeaway set at $48 could serve up to 5-6 small eaters.

If you do not like the strong salty-tangy flavors of Hakka food, this place is definitely a no-no. Specializing specifically on authentic Hakka food with recipes from 100’s of years ago constantly upgrading and adapting. Signature here is the fatty pork with mustard.

Special note for service: this place is especially crowded in the evenings. I arrived at 7pm and the waitress allowed us to sit at a table that was reserved for 7:30pm, with us assuring her thar we would finish on time, which we did. Waitress did not pester us and treated us as normal guests even though she was counting on trust that we leave before 7:30. Thank you.

This is authentic Hakka Restaurant. I’m so happy when found this restaurant which served authentic Hakka dishes.

The restaurant environment here looks like 80s. There is also lantern hanging with lantern riddles. Heard from the owner if guess correctly, may have prize.

Ordered some Hakka dishes like Miced Meat Noodle, Fried Prawns with Hakka Wine, Fried Yam ball and Yong Tau Fu.

I love the Hakka dishes here. Definately will come again….

This is an institution! It’s got that precious old school charm/ vibe, and the food doesn’t disappoint, nor the warm/ friendly service from the stately hosts. 油麦菜,梅菜扣肉,客家炒面 were all very good, and still a handful of menu items we’ve not been able to order/ try. The patronage on a Friday evening seemed good and I hope the good business continues, so our local culinary scene could stay vibrant – especially with restaurants like this.

Ordered additional 2 white rice to eat with the 梅菜扣肉. Best decision. Guess which dish got wipe out by us first . Within 5 mins after ordering , the dishes are served. Wow. Impressive. When I made a few sporadic visits for takeaway last year, the food standard for their regular dishes kind of dropped. During the Chinese New Year period the 梅菜扣肉 was bland. However, last month’s takeaway of their set menu was the best. All the dishes still taste good although it’s a takeaway. The portions are big. Well worth the $48. My family polished off the food that night. But I have not tried their delivery service though.

Food slightly below average with not as good service.

First on the food. Other than the salted chicken, rest of the food were not delicious.

Next, on the service. We were initially directed to a table and have sat down comfortably. Then the staff came along to request that we change table so that they could ensure social distancing, to which we agreed. However, the next table that we were directed to had a few houseflies flying around the table and therefore we asked if it was possible for us to push the first table to ensure the distance is sufficient to comply with safe distancing regulations. Staff rudely ignored and told us that we do not have the liberty to choose tables.

10 minutes later, another group came in and they were allocated the table we had to vacate. Isn’t that puzzling? Social distancing not required anymore? Further, staff kept trying to serve us food that we did not order, despite us telling them we did not order those items.

In conclusion, would probably visit other places for hakka food.

The last time I was here must have been over 20 years ago… same familiar taste, very authentic Hakka. Just like how my grandparents used to cook. Must try: salt chicken, bitter gourd Yong tao fu with the bean broth… and abacus, of course.! Even a simple noodle with minced pork.. al dente! Or QQ . Way ahead of Koo Kee… Place is simple even though aged.. personable service, like you walked into someone’s home. The patriarch pacing around the restaurant… and complimentary sweet potato black sugar ginger syrup. A few elderly gentlemen just walked in.. and the patriarch just said: 我给您准备一个菜心、算盘子、酿豆腐… customers just said… OK! Do check them out soon. Keep the old banner and traditional taste going…
