Good Thai dishes that are not too spicy and suitable for those who can’t take the authentic Thai spiciness. The fried omelette and garlic pork are really tasty, and the Tom yam soup has really generous amount of seafood in it! The restaurant is spacious and not too crowded. Overall a pleasant dining experience!

This is a hidden gem tucked in a corner of the street. The food are authentic and pretty near to what you get in Thailand.

I love the omelette, deep fried until very crispy. The garlic pork is nice and not forgetting the stir fried Kang kong. Not so spicy and just nice. Will go back again!

Quiet and Cosy environment. It’s a good alternative from nearby crowded food centres.

They serve up authentic thai food at pretty reasonable price.

Their Roasted Pork Belly is really crisp and tasty.

Portion wise to me is on the smaller side; I’m quite a big eater, so it’s up to you to decide.

    Overall, good stuff and recommended!

Had the garlic pork, grilled cabbage and chicken tomyum red soup! The garlic pork stole the show!! Cabbage was a little too oily and tomyum was too salty. But overall, the flavours were good! Was super impressed by the toilet which was incredibly well done up and clean (cause it’s reserved for the restaurant’s customers only). Photo for proof! (: Would patronise again to try their other dishes! This cost us $34, they dont charge gst and svc charge!

I would like to rate 4 stars to their food but not their service. Repeated two times that I wanted less ice for my Thai milk tea take away but the girl at the cashier just ignore my request..? She just didn’t answer to my special request and filled the plastic cup with full of ice. LIKE SERIOUSLY? Even the foods are nice but I will not go back if the service remains like this.

( / $$$.5)Went there for a quick lunch on a weekday. Ordered some mixed roasted meat wanton noodles (egg noodles)… While the noodles was OK the overall taste was meh (only very generous on giving lard – not fantastic also) Didn’t like the roasted meat stuff. I think not their speciality. I was alone and could not order those dishes like fried fish and veg stuff (which I think they are better at as I saw a table of five to six of them ordered). The pricing I find quite expensive for a coffershop setting (fried fish at $29) coz I could get cheaper ones at TPY Central. Rating just based on one visit.

Ordered the fried omelette and fried garlic pork due to the good reviews. The omelette was done well, no oil smell and very light. The fried pork was nicely flavoured but a bit salty (we didn’t order rice). The mango salad and clear tom yum soup were not bad too.

Prices are similar to Nakhon Kitchen, but portions are bigger.

    My rating system:
5 = It was really awesome, and I keep thinking about it
4 = It was good, and I’m happy to come back
3 = It was unmemorable, but I could come here again
2 = I would probably discourage you from coming here
1 = I wouldn’t come back unless you paid me

Fried garlic pork was very good. Pork strips are deep fried with whole smashed garlic bulb instead diced garlic which made this dish so flavourful. We ordered phad Thai, tomyum soup and prawn cake as well. Food was very good, authentic and reasonable priced. Also a pint of beer there will not cost you more than 12 dollars. However it do not expect fast and prompt service, it really takes them quite a while to have the food served. Would have given 5 stars if they were prompt in serving the food.

Went there on a Saturday slightly before noon with approximately half of the tables occupied. It was obvious that even with 4-5 service staff, they were struggling to keep up with the orders. A simple order of 2 x wonton noodles took 35 minutes to arrive and they were no where close to being busy. Noted 2 neighbouring tables cancelled their orders due to the long wait.
Food was mediocre. However the soup version of the wonton noodle was significantly better than the dry one, which was pretty bland. Don’t bother ordering the Iced Thai Milk Tea, tasted more like sugar water.
Definitely not going back there again.

There is a good menu with a board range of Thai food, yes you can order it Thai Hot and it really will be, similarly you can ask how you like it. The food has authentic Thai flavor and tastes as the chef is Thai.

Not too bad for our first experience. The mango salad has a very unique taste, might be a rather strong fish sauce or the big dried Shrimps they used. You either like it or not. The prawn cakes were made with chopped pieces of prawns unlike most who use finely minced prawn. The prawn tanghoon was really good..albeit a little wet. Prawns were big and fresh. We absolutely love the sticky rice and the tapioca dessert. Place is airy and not crowded. Staff were friendly!

The ”Pad Mama” was made magically much cheaper after we redeemed two #burpplebeyond deals on the Burpple app.
The fine instant noodles were fiery spicy and had a hint of tangy (some Tom Yum seasoning maybe?). We savaged the plateful in the shortest time. Too appetising it was.
I found our choices for the three other main courses decent enough. They were, ranked in order of my preference: garlic chicken, a frilly-crispy minced pork omelette and stirfried minced beef with basil.

If you are looking for authentic Thai cuisine at a reasonable price, this is not the place. Prices of their dishes and drinks are on the high side for the location. There are much better options for authentic thai cuisine at Golden Mile Complex at similar prices like Beerthai House, Nana and Dendang Leluk. Overall experience was below average.

A gem hidden away in Opal Crescent near St Andrew’s Secondary, the no-frills Thai eatery offers authentic Thai cuisine. The egg with onion was fluffy and delectable & the seafood tomyum was deliciously spicy.
Suggest though to visit in the evening, as the non-airconditioned setting can be rather warm in the afternoon heat. Budget-wise, the three of us spent around $80, which works out to around $27 per pax.

Super friendly staff, good food, great ambience. Would recommend. Probably not late if you’re bringing kids but good Thai fix for lunch or dinner.

The baby kai lan was savoury, salty and the sauce is just the right thickness. The prawns and petai was great if you’re a petai lover. Prawns not really my thing so I can’t comment. The steam sea bass with spicy chilli and lime sauce is yumssss, fair warning, might be too spicy for you if you’re not used to spicy food.

The iced Thai lemon grass drink is one of the most authentic and for the lack of better words, “lemon grassy” ones out there. Solid stuff! The only disappointment for me was that they don’t serve red ruby

On a separate occasion, I’ve also had the fried Tom Yam noodles and moo ping, I personally liked those too!

Again, if you’re not too fussy, looking for something more chill, I would recommend! Almost feels like I’m not in Singapore.

    Pleasant surprise!

I have been living in Singapore for 10 years. This place “Penguin’s Kitchen” recommended by a colleague. The food tasted really good and the portion really justifies the pricing.

Highly recommended by a Thai who lives in Singapore.

Had dinner on 2nd Oct 2020 and it was such a disappointment. Food was decent. Staffs were friendly. Yes you are welcome. There were only 4 of us and we ordered tomyum soup, basil pork, squid, pineapple fried rice & kailan(veg).
LONG WAITING TIME – We waited for 15mins for first 2 items and it was also obvious that other tables that came/ordered later were already served/eating? Ok maybe you can say you have lots of grabfood orders. But yet they still served food to new tabless?? (EXCUSE YOU, you served food to 2 NEW TABLES) then we had to wait +25mins for the rest of our dishes. REALLY? How to tolerate this? Not to blame the service staffs but the kitchen staffs please be more alert and organised ok. Total disappointment.

A hidden gem. The red tom yam soup with fresh prawns is to-die-for. It’s a dish that goes well with just plain jasmine rice.

The basil minced chicken stirfry dish is another of my favourite. Add on a sunny side egg and hot jasmine rice, and it’s a complete meal.

For dessert, try their unique mango sticky rice that comes in 6 small glasses per order. Slowly savour the sweet mango and savoury sticky rice on your own or share it with friends.

For drinks, beers are at $10/pint. Nothing much to say except drink to your heart’s content and be merry.

Ambience has that Thailand feel with friendly Thai staff and Thai pop songs playing in the background.

An authentic Thai dinner today @ Penguin Kitchen. 100% thai cooking style. Their set meal is the most value with main + tom yam soup and egg. Taaty and nice renovation. Worth visiting.

The return of Thai Jing Jing (previously at Hougang central) after almost 2 years! Had a short convo with the owners and they quoted rent and lack of seats for their customers as key reasons for shutting down that time. I do miss their deep fried garlic pork and crispy omelette! Glad to have the opportunity to taste this again, at an albeit higher price (better cafe style setting with service), and they also expanded their menu to include yummy mango sticky rice shooters and some grilled items. Prices are nett though, and complimentary iced water is given. Still very value for money at $8 a set! have to drive down in future, but hope that potong pasir residents will support them as much as Hougang folks

Food taste is fine, but the service is… how to say… staffs seem don’t have service concept, we ordered 3 courses, first serviced us rice, ( what I gonna have with my rice???) the other 2 dishes we waited for long time…, I guess maybe they have only one chef in the kitchen, here is always lack manning.

First, I ordered a hot water as my drink, I saw one of the staff hold my drink, came cross me, and step out talk with someone out with my drink on her hand, about few minutes later, she finished talk, came inside walk around with my drink, I don’t feel hygiene.

Second, I have special requested the mushroom with less spicy and they remarked. Unfortunately, the mushroom was extremely spicy, even my husband who is from India ( Indians normally eat very spicy food) which he cannot eat… we have address the issue to staff, surprisedly, no one even said sorry, what kind of service it is!!!

We have stayed in other region for more than 10 years, we are difficult to acceptable service here.

Unbelievable Thai food- really good. Chill atmosphere. No AC, so choose your day or time accordingly. I highly recommend the pork neck, the orange chili sauce they serve it with is the best I’ve ever tasted; Wanted to drink it. Dishes cost 5-15 Singapore, very fair. Service is friendly and efficient.

Was there on a sat abt 6.30pm, tables were mostly taken up, saw an empty table for 2. My party of 3 was 3rd in q. Those 2 infront of me placed their orders 1st. At a glance, at least 3 tables had finished their dinner. When it was my turn, i was informed the average wait time is 2hrs. I really find it ridiculous given there’s only 2 ahead of me, and 3 tables goin to leave soon, i have to wait 2hrs? And it didnt seemed like u want any biz. Obviously we left without wanting to wait. Service definitely has to step up with communication skills and definitely understaffed. For a restaurant this size, if u want business, be prepared to cater to the crowd size. I live nearby and have seen restaurant after restaurant come n go at this exact location. To the management, if u want to maintain your biz, learn to keep your crowd. I gave 3 stars becos i didnt try the food, so benefit of doubt given. But judging frm most reviews, u’ll need to improve on ur system fast. Good luck. Will give u a 2nd chance and make another visit.

As promised, gave 2nd chance and got a chance to eat here.
Arrived abt 1.45pm, supposedly they close 2-5pm. Ordered garlic crispy pork rice set and wanton noodles. Crispy pork with sunny side up egg n a small bowl of Tom yum soup. Pork is delicious, egg is nicely cooked, soup distinctly mamee taste but has 3 big pieces of straw mushroom inside. Wanton noodle, noodle super al dente, nth to shout abt. Thai ice tea, not too sweet, milky. Taste like drinking soy milk. Total bill $18.
Conclusion, if there is a wait, not worth it. It’s a nice environment to eat in, nth special with their thai food, can’t say it’s authentic thai tasting.
To be fair, they dun charge service charge so can’t fault them for it. Still maintain 3 stars.

A great place to have the Thai foods here. A lot choices from the menu I wish to order more but perhaps next round. Olive fried rice,FAMA fried noodle, original and green Thai milk tea, Thai egg salad, curry chicken and garlic fried pork. Overall of the foods are super nice and we loved it very much. It is a great place to chill with family and friends gathering to have some drinks also. Highly recommended. Enjoy and Thanks.

this is our favorite local place. Food is nice, callouts are the Mushroom salad, Moo ping (BBQ pork), Jim Jum (mini Thai hotpot), pineapple fried rice, and any of the big fish dish. Price is reasonable as well, and staff are very friendly.

Went to try their food twice, both time walk in without advance booking. First time for dinner, 2nd time for lunch. Ordered their wonton noodles with crispy pork and fresh prawn wonton for lunch, which was sold out during our first visit for dinner, it tastes very nice. Pork skin is crisps, wonton prawn is fresh. We was there about 1250 on good friday, and luckily our wanton noodles arrived in 20min time as while waiting for it, our neighbouring table told us theirs took 1 hrs, guess that was during the peak lunch hours.

Our first time there on a sat nite @ 1845, the place was packed with people, sign boards says average waiting time 2hrs. Since already there decided to wait and try their food. Got our table after 45min wait, and ordered our food on the spot before being brought to our table. 1st and last dishes took about 35min ~ 55 min for them to be served. The green curry chicken is thick with flavour, Deep fried pork with garlic is nice, The steam fresh squid with the garlic and lime juice over it is wonderful. The quality was good, worth the wait.

Their lemongrass drink is very fragrance and refreshing.

Advance booking is advised, especially during peak hrs. Plus this is not a fast food restaurant, Just think how long it will takes if you were to cook curry at home, So expect to wait for your food.

Found a hidden gem of this Thai restaurant. The dishes are so delicious and staffs are so well prepared and extremely friendly. They do sell beers, wines and liquors as well. Environment is cosy and chilling when you can have drinks with your friends. It really make me feel like we are in Thailand. Price is reasonable and really worth it. Overall, i had a great experience in this restaurant. If you are looking for authentic Thai foods, I will strongly recommend here!

Awesome food, this is really a hidden gem. We got the spicy Kang kong, grilled squid, chilli lime sea bass, Tom yum soup and basil pork, all were amazing. Special shout out for the squid; it was soft, fresh and surprisingly tasty. The sea bass was also very fresh. And the staff were helpful and the ambience very pleasant. Highly recommend. Contentiously better than Nakhon.

Tang hoon salad and omelette were ok, quite tasty. But tomyam is not to my liking. It’s spicy, but without a kick. The texture is quite thick, with a strong taste of “coconut milk”. I’ve tasted much better tomyam from thai shops/restaurants. Not the cheapest thai food you can find. There’s no aircond too.

The food was average but find that the service is a little funny, having to order before getting a seat within the restaurant.

Tried basil rice set, fried hor fun, wanton soup and roast pork.

The roast pork skin was crispy, enjoyed the crispy roast pork skin but not the meat. The wanton was good. The basil rice with pork was good.

Portion for Hor fun for $8 was less than expected. Would not go for it again.
