Pearl’s Hill City Park Pearl’s Hill City Park
The nearby area is the Outan Park, surrounded by high-rise buildings, and there are many construction sites, which is very noisy.
But fortunately, this park is hilly, so the light will not be blocked by tall buildings, and there are too many stairs. Those who like to climb stairs must not miss it. If you don’t like stairs, there are also trails to choose from. It is a very thoughtful design, and this The fitness facilities on the side are also very good. I saw a few healthy seniors training early in the morning, and the level of greenery is high, the air is very good, and exercise can get twice the result with half the effort.

Nice park which, while on the top of the hill and seemingly visible from all the neighborhoods around, remains a bit hidden, natural and quiet. Walking paths circle the summit which is capped by a protected water catchment with thick stone walls built with hints of the style of castles. Similar in this way to the catchment at the summit in Fort Canning Park. A small pond has sitting areas, nice views of Chinatown, the CBD and more follow you on the paths as you hike.

Tucked away in a corner of Chinatown, Pearl’s Hill City Park is a hidden oasis of peace and tranquillity. Built around a reservoir on top of a hill, the park is a great place to take a brief respite from the hustle and bustle of city life.

Visitors can look forward to enjoying the wooded ambience provided by the mature Tembusu trees while basking in the serenity of the park. Alternatively, sit back and relax by the pond and admire the beautiful lotus plants. When in full bloom, the lotus plants provide a brilliant splash of colour across the pond’s still waters.

Pearl’s Hill City Park is located behind Outram Park MRT Station, and can be accessed from Pearl Bank, Pearl’s Hill Terrance, Pearl’s Hill Road and Chin Swee Road.

Pearl’s Hill City Park a very lovely, somehow less known park, built around a reservoir on top of Pearl’s Hill. It is behind Outram MRT station and you find it between Chinatown and Chin Swee Road. The 9-hectare park is a great place to take a good break from the rush and noise of the city. Nothing really spectacular but nice city views, Tembusu trees, green plants, rest areas and quietness.
Pearl’s Hill, once Mount Stamford, was owned by Chinese who had settled there before Stamford Raffles’ arrival. Captain James Pearl, the captain of the Indiana which sailed Sir Stamford Raffles to Singapore in 1819, liked this hill, began acquiring plot after plot until he owned the entire hill and built his house on top in 1822.
The Reservoir was built from 1898-1904 and is one of the oldest surviving reservoirs built by the British. It holds drinking water and is all fenced up, as such the Park is built around the Reservoir.
Note: Pearl’s Hill (now at 45meter) used to be higher than Fort Canning Hill, but the British decided to cut off the top, lowering its peak below the newly built Fort Canning.

“Big Pearls and Small Pearls Falling on a Jade Plate”: In the 18th century, this place was originally a hillock for growing tobacco. A British businessman, Mr. Pearl, bought the hill, drove away the tobacco farmers, and built his own villa on the hill. In order to please Sir Raffles, the commissioner at the time, he named the hill Raffles Knoll, and prepared to donate the villa to Sir Raffles as his residence. Jazz believed that the people’s tobacco gardens should not be taken as his own, so he rejected his kindness. In a fit of anger, Mr. Pearl named the hill after his own name Pearl (Pearl). From then on, “big pearls and small pearls falling on the jade plate”, first there was Pearl Hill, and then there were Pearl Market, Pearl Department Store, Pearl Square, and Pearl Square. Building, Pearl Court. . .

The park is clean and green. However, the walkways are a bit mazy and there are very few maps to guide you along. Was disappointed to find that the top of the park was off limits as it’s a protected area.

Small hill park for the neighbors. Scenery is ok with some green. But it’s too quite, I didn’t see anyone around so I felt a bit concerned about safety.

Quiet park, surprisingly wild, in the middle of town. It is a small hill flanked by a highway on one side, Chinatown on the other, and the area reserved for condos next to Outram Park MRT. It lacks a feature attraction to make it tourist worthy. For locals who live nearby, it provides a quiet respite and breathing space from the bustle of the city. At sunset time, I like viewing the wide sky and a nice panorama towards Tiong Bahru from a lookout in the western tip of the park. Plenty of sloped trails and steps available for exercise.
