A popular attraction on the Internet, it is actually next to Clarke Quay. It is a quite distinctive architectural attraction. The colorful windows are its biggest feature. There is an introduction and origin of this police station inside. When we went there, it was evening and the windows were all lit. Yes, I feel that the effect is also very good. This is the central area, and you can pass by and leave a check-in record by the way.

The Old Hill Street Police Station (formerly known as the MICA Building), are used by The Ministry of Communications and Information and athe Ministry of Culture, Community and Youth, is a colonial landmark located at the junction of River Valley Road and Hill Street.

It officially opened in 1934, and was the largest government building in Singapore at the time. It used to house the Hill Street Police Station and Barracks. The building was gazetted as a national monument on 18 December 1998.

This building is close to Fort Canning Park and The Clarke Quay.

The famous Rainbow Building We happened to pass by. You can go to the canning park first, just a few steps from the main entrance, and after taking pictures, you can go to the pier to eat, there are many restaurants and bars. The best place to take pictures is the Rainbow Building, which has several panoramic views across the road and bridge, and the best shooting angle. It’s super dreamy, and it looks better from a distance than from close up. I checked it out of curiosity and found out that the building was a police station. It should be the most beautiful police station I have ever seen, and the people who work in the building so beautiful will be in a good mood. I was lucky enough to be able to see such a beautiful scene without any special arrangement. It is really unintentional. Happy to go home

One of the must visit SG landmarks .

This historical building is beside Clark quay. Its mandarin name is classical and old school.

Thus building and former police station has 900+ colorful windows. It was set up in 1934.

From the artitecture style, one can tell the Choi Hung estate style is really nothing to SG travelers.

One of Singapore’s most popular attractions. This former police station has a history of about 100 years. It is said that the number of windows in this landmark, called the Rainbow Building, is about 1,000. The night view is more beautiful than the day

This building is actually called the Ministry of Communication & Information, is a building under the management of the Singapore government. If you visit the Clark Quay entertainment area, you can walk here quite close, only about 2 minutes on foot.
This building is quite beautiful, the windows are painted in different colors like 7 colors of the rainbow. That day, I went in the evening, stopped at Clark Quay but accidentally when I came out, I met this building, but this place seems to be more beautiful at night than in the morning. Is it possible to visit inside? Because if there are tickets to visit, it will not be open in the evening!

The Old Hill Street Police Station is a historic building and former police station of the Singapore Police Force located at Hill Street within the Downtown Core in the Central Area of Singapore.
Also known as Balai Polis Hill Street Lama and (Chinese: 旧禧街警察局) in Malay and Chinese respectively, the name was changed from Old Hill Street Police Station to “MITA Building” in 1999, followed by “MICA Building” in 2004. After the change of ministries in November 2012, the name “MICA Building” was reverted to “Old Hill Street Police Station”.

Nicknamed the ‘Police Skyscraper’ in the past, the Former Hill Street Police Station is prominently located at the junction of Hill Street and River Valley Road. The building served as a police station and also housed accommodation for officers and their families. A monument to the police force in Singapore, the edifice was once the largest of its kind in Malaya. The Former Hill Street Police Station underwent a major renovation in 1999 and officially reopened as the new home for the then Ministry of Information and the Arts (MITA) on 1 November 2000. The renovation increased the floor space, and a glass roof was installed in the central atrium to create an area for exhibitions and art installations. It became known as MITA Building and, later, MICA Building when the ministry was renamed the Ministry of Information, Communications, and the Arts (MICA) in 2004. The building was later renamed as the Old Hill Street Police Station again in 2012, after MICA became the Ministry of Communication and Information. The OHSPS currently houses the Ministry of Culture, Community and Youth as well.

The building has a total of 927 windows and they are painted in the colours of the rainbow. Passersby will notice that the windows on the first four stories have the same vibrant intensity while the colours for the fifth- and sixth-story gradually intensify to accentuate the cantilevered balconies which are interesting architectural features of this historical building.

Visited here in 2021. It’s a colorful building. Don’t risk your life to take iconic photo of the police station. The road is very busy and too many vehicles.

Saw this on a walking tour of Singapore back in early March. This landmark building used to be a police station and jail, but it’s now government office. It’s hard to imagine it’s former use with its neoclassical architecture and colourfully painted windows. If you’re visiting Fort Canning or the equally pretty Central Fire Station nearby, it’s worth a detour.
