Chanced upon this chinese restaurant and i was surprised to see many japanese and caucasian customers eating there. Ordered a 回锅肉 (Double fried pork) and fried ramen with seafood. Both were tasty though i find the pork kind of sweet. Otherwise, good value for money. The lady boss can speak some Japanese.

This is among my favourite places for getting Chinese food and I’ve retutned many times whenever I crave Chinese food. Tried the la mian, zha jiang mian, xiao long bao and they are great! My favourite is the guo tie (fried dumplings) – I’d say best in Singapore.

Prices are affordable, especially given the quality of the food!

The cheapest and best value chinese food in Kampong Glam: I go there almost once a week! With its very simply decorated and narrow interior, this place is easy to miss, but once you tried their dried noodles or their dumplings, you will keep coming back for more! Also the owner is so hardworking she stays opens until 1 am! Support her!

I like this place. Best Beef Noodles I had in Singapore, (not much place sell authentic type) reminiscent of the one I had at Taiwan. Optional Chilli which is good, cause most of the time the Chilli is mix into the soup. The broth have a splendid herb taste. The noodles (la mian) have a lovely texture. The only down side is the wet tissue that cost $1. No GST & Service Charge.

Overall the food was okay, not that impressive or extraordinary. Only the fried dumplings was good.

The fried dumplings was juicy and meaty. The fried batter is crispy and savoury. And the dumpling itself is huge.

The minced pork noodle was Beijing style. It was alright but nothing fancy too.

I also had the deep fried bun with condensed milk. The bun was huge unexpected. But so bad it wasn’t deep fried enough that the bun wasn’t crispy on the outside. What a pity.

Also, The lady boss was talking very loud and I thought she was arguing with other while talking. It just made me a bit uncomfortable.

Btw this place is famous for Japanese’s and the signature dish is chongqing spicy chicken. Probably I will try that next time.

Namboku Nagoya is a restaurant on Beach Road, but the menu is easy to read. Because it’s Japanese. The number of items is also abundant. And it’s super cheap. It’s delicious. No complaints. A beautiful mom grew up in Yokohama Chinatown. You can also use Japanese credit cards. Reservations are required as it can be busy on some days. I’m free after 8:30 pm.

It’s been quite some time since we visited this restaurant the last time as it’s somewhat out of the way. It’s a restaurant that will pop into our minds occasionally when we feel like having some non-local style Chinese food. They are fairly priced and serves decent food.

炒豆苗 (stir fried pea shoots) – one of our favourites as the restaurant do seem to use good quality pea shoots so the texture is crunchy and not tough.
Pan fried dumplings – a visual and texture delight, it’s pan fried and comes with a crispy crust in the shape of the pan.
Other items we ordered were not bad too, though the above two are our favorites.

Menu is in 3 languages – Chinese, Japanese and English.

Lady boss is friendly and remembers us even though we don’t really visit often. Highly recommend!

I would never have taken a second look at this shop. My friends worked nearby and brought me here for dinner. It may be confusing for first timers because you may be wondering what cuisine are they serving. Its a bit of everything ; china chinese cuisine, HK canto cuisine, japanese noodles etc. I get the impression that the folks are ultimately china chinese but are heavily influenced by japanese and local cultures. Nonetheless, the food is of decent quality with certain dishes being particularly good such as the la zi ji, while others seem to be more fusion in taste. Worth a try and prices are decent

This is a Chinese restaurant popular with Japanese expatriates. His wife, who used to live in Yokohama, speaks Japanese well. The all-you-can-drink set at night has many dishes and is cheap. It’s painful that the drinks are about beer, but they also flexibly handle bringing in.

The interior of the restaurant feels like a Chinese restaurant where you can enjoy a cozy local feeling.
The menu is very rich with about 120 items, all written in English and Japanese.
We ordered xiaolongbao, fried dumplings, seafood fried noodles, and a drink (Chinese tea) and shared it with two people.
Dim sum, fried rice and noodles are mostly S$5-6.
Xiaolongbao is a feeling that you can eat with a lot of meat.
