The burger was the best I have had in Singapore. The atmosphere is nice and wasn’t too crowded. It’s hidden away which is nice too. The pizza was average, the toppings were nice but I didn’t like the base/crust. A more Italian style crust would have made the pizza perfect.

I went to No Other Meaning (NOM) on the 2nd of December. The overall quality of the food was
    simply heavenly.

    Food contents:
The carbonara comes with an egg benedict cooked to perfection. The texture was very smooth.
Next, the mushroom soup. The mushroom soup has mushroom bits that are finely sliced. The
mushroom in the soup has a very crunchy taste when chewed.

    Service & Speed:
The service staff who served me was very nice and patient.
There was a free self-service warm and room-temperature water dispenser. They even had lemon-
    infused water.
The food came within 5-10mins after ordering. This is by far one of the fastest food that was served to me.

    Taste Test:
Judging from the food quality and the taste, the price of the food could be lowered a little because I
    found the price rather expensive.

    Suggested Improvements:
The bottle of wine was a little too expensive. The price could be lowered.
The ambience was not done well so I would really like that to be improved. The restaurant could fix
chandeliers to make the lighting look more welcoming to diners from the outside.

    Fun Fact:
The restaurant: No Other Meaning (NOM), is operated by ex-convicts. (I hope you can
give them a 2nd chance by visiting NOM and trying out their food so that they will feel more
encouraged to serve more delectable food.)

Came about a year back when they were still on Burpple and it was such a hidden gem for me back then. Prices were cheap, food was good and service was amazing.

Fast forward till today, I came back to try despite there not being any Burpple promotions anymore because of the fond memory. Apparently it’s completely different. Came in for Sunday lunch and it was packed but there was only one waitress who was extremely rude… understand that she was probably stressed due to understaffing but it’s kinda low to take it out on your customers.

She got the order wrong on our truffle fries and when we changed it, another more senior waiter kindly swapped it and informed her of her mistake and we could hear her blaming us for ordering wrongly even though there were literally 5 of us who ordered and went through the order with her. Kinda shocked but we let it slide because of the situation but just generally an unpleasant experience even when billing, where we were sort of stared down due to the mishap.

Food was still good though LOL and it isn’t too expensive given that it’s a cafe. Note that portion sizes run a little small for guys. Go for the juicy har cheong kai burger and skip their fries which were straight up rubbery and bad. And pray that you don’t get a service staff that’ll be staring down at you all the time.

On the second of December, my family and I went to NOM (No Other Meaning) café for dinner. We were recommended to this café by a close family friend who stayed near to this cosy and Marvel-superhero style café. Seeing that most reviews on Yelp only gave a 3 – 4.5-star rating, allow me to have a little bit of guilty pleasure by rating it a 5-star. Overall, I am remarkably satisfied with this social enterprise project from Yesterdae Café, given the price of course. Alright, let’s dive in to find out what sums up for me to offer such a prestigious 5-star rating.

Firstly, I am bubbling with excitement to comment about their service staff, especially the one whom I know fondly as Uncle Jay. Uncle Jay is quite amiable, and he knows the menu well. At times, he would crack humorous jokes. Above all those, he is very thoughtful and always takes initiatives. One example of his taking initiative was when we reached the cafe, we realized he had already chilled one bottle of wine on standby in case there were customers requesting for chilled wine instead of room temperature wine. So, customers need not wait for their wine to be chilled. The other service staff were great too. Without a shadow of a doubt, I was left with a deep impression of them.

Now, this is what you call a café a café — it is the food. The food tantalized our taste buds. I ordered for an appetizer a beef salad, a mushroom soup and garlic bread. Beef salad, nothing much about the vegetable, but the beef was great though they could put a little less oil. For the mushroom soup, they did not put as much cornstarch as other restaurants, because I could not taste the starchiness. The soup was creamy and you could taste the mushrooms. The garlic bread was heavenly. When I took a bite of that bread, it was like listening to a choir singing in total harmony, the crust was crunchy, and the garlic packed a punch. Yet, the inside was soft.

For the entrée, we had a carbonara, NOM burger and a mushroom pizza. The carbonara had a generous amount of mushroom and the egg benedict was cooked well. The portion for the NOM burger was quite big. The fries were alright, but I like the beef patty. It was not too hard to bite on. It would be better if the burger bread is less oily. For the mushroom pizza, again, a lion share of mushroom on top, rockets were quite good, and the cheese quite suited the pizza. It was a meal worth remembering.

After this review, would you feel that this cafe deserves a 5-star at an affordable price?

The cafe is located at Level 1 of Mcpherson CC. It is a 15 minutes walk from Mcpherson MRT Exit E (walking through the block of flats).

It has a nice ambience and the service is good. Prices are reasonable for the portion. We had the weekday lunch set (Monday to Friday; 11am to 3pm) which is value for money. The truffle mushroom pizza and pumpkin soup are highly recommended.

We held our wedding at NOM last year.
Till today, we have relatives and friends coming to us to tell us how nice the wedding was compared to those hotel weddings! It’s much cosier and definitely we got to interact a lot more with people who really matter

The chef kindly customized the menu for us and we had a travel theme with dishes from around the world exactly as we wanted it. The servers that night was really attentive and they were always present and ready to help.

The solemnization table and decorations were done by the NOM planning staff and it took an incredible load off our minds. Parking for the guests was pretty easy as there are huge hdb carparks close by. Highly recommend NOM for weddings and look forward to more magic from them ️

All round lovely experience. Lunch menu is value for money when it’s one for one mains (can mix and match). Top up $6.50 or $10.50 for soup + drink or soup + drink + cake. There’s burpple offer for weekends.

Staff was polite and prompt and friendly. Casual and cosy place with indoor and outdoor setting. The food was the highlight. Cooked with skill, the burger patties are juicy and buns crisp (though mine was under grilled compared to my partner’s). The flavours are done well and portobello mushroom is perfectly cooked. It’s filled with juice and easy to bite. Huge too. Cheesecakes are not too sweet and I ordered the sesame Cheesecake which is pleasantly well balanced and love the significant taste of sesame embedded in the cheesecake.

All in all a great hidden gem for great food and warm service and all at a reasonable price. Definitely will be back!

This is a quiet place to chill near the busy Circuit Road Food Centre. It is located inside MacPherson Community Club.

They serve mostly western food including burgers, pastas, and pizzas, salad, and soup.

We had the Ultimate Nom Burger and Smoked Duck Cranberries Salad. The burger was satisfying with a juicy patty and fried egg with runny yolk stuffed between the buns. The fries was ordinary though.

Another plus is that they have a kids playground within the eatery so you can enjoy your food while your little one get distracted in it.

We like to come here on the weekends for lunch. Very kid friendly and they even have a play corner with a mini dragon slide.
The staff are friendly, fast and attentive.
They have a wide variety of interesting caffeinated drinks, mocktails, smoothies. They also have a few beers and ciders.
Their food selection is mostly western style but fused with local dishes. Duck pizza, chili crab pasta, etc.
I highly recommend the chili crab pasta which uses soft shell crab in a nice thick sauce very similar to the real chili crab sauce. It’s not as spicy as the real deal but more on the level of your Prata curry.
To top you off they have an awesome cake and dessert selection. I personally like the Earl Grey lemon cheesecake but I’m bias towards cheesecake. 😉

Nom is a nice bistro that is usually packed with people. We tried the burger, beef stew (forgot to take photo) and brownie with ice cream. The food was great but the brownie is just ok for me. It’s not fudgy as I was expecting of a brownie. It’s more like a coarse cake bread. The service is good despite the staff looks overwhelmed with a lot of people. I think they should add more staff. There’s a designated playground for kids which is an added plus for this place.

I like this coffee shop! It is right by the park and very convenient for park goers. They have good coffee beverage and tasty pastries, although the price isn’t low. We got their cold brew ice coffee and ham and cheese croissant. Also got one of their special cookie for my son. Overall, it is a cute and delicious neighborhood coffee shop.

The nom burger is awesomely godly. The buns are grilled to a good crisp, so good I can eat it on its own like a separate buttered bread serving. The patty is juicy and the eggs nicely cooked without too runny.

We always order half-half pizza and there is a new seafood flavour with generous servings of prawn and clam.

Really tasty food at good prices. We ordered garlic bread, the breakfast rostis, three rice bowls and a lava cake. The everything was delicious and the portion sizes were generous, my personal favourite was the tofu rice bowl. The ambience is calming and the place is beautifully decorated, and they even have a cute little playground for kids. Would recommend.
