One of the valued for money Mookata.
You can pick the seat meal or buffet. Pay extra $10 plus for the buffet.

There are 3 level of spiciness for the chilli.

    The food is not bad.
    The pork collar is nice!

The prawn serving wasn’t that much each time you placed the order. But it is buffet, you could order as much as you can!

Been a frequent patroniser at this Mookata place ever since I was in secondary school and I really think their meat marinations are one of the best around. Prices could be more competitive though.

1 of the better joints … reasonably priced. Comes in sets – 2 or 4 paxs. Side orders avail too. Soup is tasty … bbq is done over charcoal … overall its a gd place for mookata though ventilation needs to be improved … alot.

Definitely worth the money to eat here. But the music could have been softer and the charcoal heat can reduced..my precious soup gets heated up abit too fast.
Thanks for the good food and service too.

Authentic mookata pot using real burning charcoal instead of electrical ones you typically see. The portions for the set meal we’re adequate and of fairly decent quality. The shop is air-conditioned, but it’s weak.. so you will feel hot there. Wear light clothing, and bring a healthy appetite!

Thumbs up man! The guy working solo on 30th May 2018 from 5PM to like 7PM should definitely deserve a raise or promotion!
Despite my 3 friends and I being late for the reservation, he gave us some chance to get seated and we started our meal in a blink of an eye! Being new to this mookata experience, he was very patient with us and even showed us some Tips and tricks to eat mookata!
With us overadding soup that caused our fire to die. Instead of reprimanding us or give us a tongue lashing like most mookata do out there as if we owe them a living, he instantaneously changed the charcoal below for us to continue cooking! He have very high levels of social awareness! I was just so shocked that this high level of service is given! On to the food, we ordered 2 set of 2s 7bowls of rice, 2 pork belly and 4 drinks (Luo han guo and barley) propotion given was really worth its value for the price that they charge! It filled up our bellys! A worthwhile trip for my birthday celebration with my friends! I would highly recommend that you visit this place, for the atmosphere, food and highly quailty service from this legend. The man, the myth, the legend. To end off i really hope the manager could take notice of this guy working on the (30th of may 2018 5pm-7pm) as he is the one guy that is getting more loyal customers to come back to eat here with such level of service!
With more people like him, the restaurant would sure become a booming skyrocketing business.
Feel free to drop me an email to verify on his recomendation!

First time visiting this Mookata. Boss was friendly and informed us that his charcoal pot is back!!! Marinated meat was nice and we had a nice alfresco dinner. Add on off marinated beef was good, prawn need to be fresher though.
Overall, its good and worth a try …

You may be reluctant at first because the spiciness is addictive and the sauce is really spicy, but you will gradually get used to it, and when you get home, you will want to eat it again. smile

Decent BBQ place with reasonable quality ingredients. However, way too pricey for what they serve. Expect to spend around $40 per head (excluding beer) to eat a normal amount of food. At this price there are far better places. Service also needs improvement.

Our favourite and number one place to go for Mookata, better hygiene and the meats are well marinated. Pricing is almost the same as Golden Mile so I rather come here. Usually we order x1 large chicken thigh, x1 regular pork collar, x1 regular beef slices, x1 regular pork belly and x2 Chinese tea. This way we don’t over order and get to eat all the grilled meats that we want.

Good and cheap mookata. Got large selection of food and toppings. Soup can be refilled. The chilli sauce is addicting!!! Just note that after eating here you will smell like the BBQ itself lol. So come here over dinner.

There is an automatic seat reservation service at the door. The sauces made were nice.

Soup base was made with the right amount of flavors. You will need to flavor it yourself with the stuff you have ordered.

The marinate was best of all.

4 stars for the skinny waiter guy that tries really hard to make it work for all the tables. Their service is not bad! It’s just they’re very understaffed. The food is ok, meat is well-marinated, just takes a lot of work to cook…

I wouldn’t say that this place is the best of places in Katong; however if you are in Katong and want to have some Thai hotpot, I could recommend this place.

The price is reasonable, but I wouldn’t say that the meat there is too notch. The volume is there if you just want to get yourself full.

The Mookata itself a little too oily for my taste, but I think a lot of students and the younger generation likes the taste.

Location wise it’s perfect where it is extremely close to Katong 112, where you can easily park at the mall and eat there.

Price wise I would say it’s reasonable and affordable.

I personally will not go there, as there are many other options around the area and the food was a little too oily for me; but Nevertheless this place is popular among the young generation.

Usually you don’t have to line up, so if you are hungry, you may want to consider stopping there for a bite.

I think it’s still cheaper than some other hotpot restaurants I went in the past. The meat selection consist of beef, pork, chicken so for anyone who doesn’t eat beef, there are other options.

The location and space are nice. We had lunch there so the restaurant is quiet, dinner would be more crowded.
Food is ok but expensive compare to other bbq restaurant. We ordered jum jum set for 2 costing $40 but the portion is quite small. Total bill is 50+.

Slightly overpriced mookata place, when i went they only serve vegetable stock for the soup and did not give me the lard which was supposed to be the oil for the bbq, this is opposite of the stellar experience i had at mookata @ orto yishun. This is a sub-par mooktata place, don’t come in with very high expectations

Good mookata and reasonably priced, portion was okay too! I ordered the set for two people and I find that they have quite a lot of meat slices as well as some seafood (prawn and squid) as well as meat and fish ball. The set also comes with egg and vegetables to put in the soup.

The meat is well-marinated, and thus, is good when grilled. The soup is typical of mookata soup, rather sweet in taste, but refreshing enough to be drunk after eating a lot of meat.

There are also several side dishes, such as pandan chicken, fried chicken skin, and fried pork skin. The side dishes, especially the deep fried ones, are rather oily. The fried pork skin is very crispy, nevertheless, and is rather salty, but is good as a snack. The chicken skin is a bit soggy – I would have liked it if it was crispier. The pandan chicken is oily, but delicious. It was well-marinated with a rather sweet-tasting spices.

All in all, it still is a good place to have a mookata and eat with your family and friends!

Food was fine, the meat didn’t look fresh. But the true bad taste in my mouth was the service. I really wanted to leave after waiting 30 minutes for the drinks to arrive, unfortunately you can’t once you’ve locked your order.

The waitstaff of 2 were overburdened and spoke rudely due to their workload. While it’s understandable, we don’t visit restaurants to be empathetic. I’d rather stay home and cook. Especially when you need to cook your own food in establishments like this.

So overall, meh, wouldn’t recommend this to anyone.

Their mookata is using traditional charcoal.
    That should be the way.
    Meats are properly marinated.
That should be the way too.

They spent so much on renovation, it’s sad that they did not invest more in ventilation. Else I would have given 5 stars.

The food is decent and I love the fact they use charcoal for the grilling of food. The service crew is horrendous, their cook gives better service than the service crew. When I was making payment at the counter, the service crew asked me to wait so she could take the receipt to the customers outside before coming back to let me make the payment. Feels like the service crew is not having a good day so customers should feel the same.

    I ordered
    1. Premium pork set
    2. Premium marble beef striploin

The meat quality and taste are actually better than a lot of mookata places I have tried. They use charcoal for the hot plate which is unique and supposedly giving a nice flavour.

However I didn’t have a good experience as my pot was not hot enough, and it took a long time for the meat to cook (even then the meat was lukewarm when I ate it right off the pot, which is worrying). The waitress did help me to change the charcoal or at least she brought the whole thing back to kitchen, but the result is still the same. It ended up my patience was the one being grilled instead of the meats.

Given my experience, I would recommend to order beef as they can at least be eaten medium rare (fingers crossed).

Note: there are limited to no lean meats choices here.

The food is pretty good, marinated meat is nice. Ordered 4 pax set for $81 ( inc. GST + service charge ) a little bit high price. It is quite hot there due to weaker air conditioner, recommended to add corn first as the soup is heavenly with the corn ( really sweet! )
Charcoal is used which is a nice twist of course. If the air conditioner is stronger and the price a bit lower, it’ll be better, service is quite okay as went not on peak hours, it appears there are more staff based on other reviews.
P.S. Chilli sauce not very spicy, but children may not like it much due to some spices in it.

The food is quite expensive compared to other mookatas as they sell 8 dollar per small serving. Would reccomend you get the set for 2 if you are here. Food is quite delicious however the service is quite bad. The worker avoid our hand signal and try not to serve us and we waited for 10mins to get their attention. Overall i would not reccomend as there are other better and cheaper alternatives than this shop.

The meats are very well marinated and taste so good! We ordered the meat platter and vegetables and drinks and it came up to about 40 bucks per person. The ambience is casual and service staff are friendly

The four pax set was alright in terms of price and quantity but for $8 more per pax, you can get a dinner buffet at a mookata place at Golden mile which taste as good but with much more meat.

Charcoal stove not hot enuff. Cook and wait until sian and from hungry wait until not hungry. Told staff about it and she explained there is issue with the charcoal then helped to add more charcoal. Suggest request for gas stove if u can., heat more guaranteed and the grill section less inclined so meat won’t drop into soup area.
Decent taste but quail egg for $4 and luncheon meat for $8-9 seems ex to me. 2 person set meal dun have these items. Chilli sauce tastes good too

Two stars just for the food, because the service was rude and need to learn some manners (say hello, thank you, bye, and smile!), but after reading other reviews maybe it’s because they are understaffed..
    PS : it’s a little overpriced.

    Marinated Meat? Amen. Non-Marinated? Trash.
The specialties of this Mookata Place lies in the meat that is so immaculately marinated. When you order a set for 2 or 4, be darn sure to change the non-marinated meat (Bacon and Suriyaki Meat) to the marinated Pork Belly, Collar or Chicken Thigh. Also, the Chilli they serve is really good. Remember to ask for more as the 3 saucers they gave you – ain’t enough.

Thai style steamboat & bbq in the same cooking ‘grill’. Exhaust is located at each grill to suck out the smoke. Taste good.

Since the plate cannot be replaced, the plate burns and the meat sticks to it. The quality of the meat is similar to that of an all-you-can-eat buffet.

Fantastic food here. Probably the best Mookata I have had. Was heated via charcoal which meant the food was heated quickly and had a smokey taste. Beware to not wear your favourite clothes there or expensive ones because they will reek of smoke for sure even with the smoke suctioning machine constantly taking in fumes. The marinates were fantastic especially the Tom yam chicken. Very unexpectedly good. Flavour was so penetrating that every part of the meat was equally flavoured. Be sure you will eat a lot of rice to accompany. Food is on the saltier side

This Mookata restaurant is clean and the pot is heated by charcoal. This make the whole experience different from other mookata place.
The basic pork soup base is flavourful and the meat from the set meal is nice marinated. Will return to this place again for another meal for some other soup.
