We saw this new stall for a while but didn’t try it because we tend to have it elsewhere but this time we decided to give it a go. Although the Nasi Lemak looked basic but its just nice, don’t need to go for such fusion style cooking. A home cooked style is just nice. No #01-31.

There is this one muslim stall situated near the front that sells typical malay dishes at $2 per plate. DO NOT BUY FROM THEM. Decided to give it a try since it was new but that would be the last. Ordered a lontong for takeout and you only get a measly 2pcs of rice cakes. The most stingiest portion ever. Tasteless too. They even mock you for ordering only one menu item when you only need food for one person. This is why some stalls can never make it as they lack gratitude.

This wet market has served the Marsiling-Woodlands community for many years before the sprouting of other smaller wet markets in the various neighbourhood clusters. After undergoing renovations, the market reopened on 28 February 2009. The residents were fully appreciative of the much cleaner and relatively spacious stalls in the market.

First time eating at this hawker centre. The sugar cane juice was super good. The chicken at the chicken rice stall was really good too (the rice was sold out but since I hardly eat rice, I was happy to order a plate of chicken meat for one; @$3 )
Was it because it was a Monday? Many of the food stalls were closed. The stalls at the few that were open, all had long queues. I hate queueing for food. So I am not sure if I will be back. Plus, all the garish CNY decorations and lights made the whole atmosphere too ‘noisy’. Can the Marsiling Market Management do something about the excessive use of decorations? Less is more and may make it a calmer atmosphere to enjoy my lunch.

Eventhough I stay in Yishun, I have been going to Marsiling Market since the 90th.What I like about this market is that the seafoods sold are quite fresh and at a reasonable price. The meat also sold at reasonable price and due to being a regular customer, futher discount is given. The hawkers are quite polite, friendly and helpful. The hawker centre sold varitieses of food cater to all races. The market have a warm and nice ambience and a bit crowded, for buying veggies,I preferred to buy at Yishun, because of more varieties and fresh and you still can get veggies in the afternoon.

Pomfrets are not at all good in quality, they actualy taste weird after cooking and the smell is bit fishy (means its not fresh and gone bad), total waste of money $18!! Other fishes were good. The only reason we went there for mutton from the only Indian shop which was pretty good. Not recommended for Indian people.

Wet market must come before 7am as the veggy uncle with wavy hair with moustache sold out very fast. He is generous with his servings.
Freshly grated coconut is the best here too. There are 2 shops selling them.
I always buy my beef from the man along the vegetarian shop (opposite the Indian shop). He is always friendly and humble. One portion will be his son selling only mutton, while he sells beef. Be prepared to wait as there is always a queue.

Covid19 pandemic didn’t stop nearby residents to frequent this wet market, these are the die hard fans of the market, growing up and growing old together in this vicinity, one of the oldest estate in Singapore. Typical of all wet markets, fresh vegetables, seafood, meats, fruits, etc are found here, but what’s unique about this place is the friendliness and warm between sellers and buyers, the old faces…

Needless to say you can get delicious Singaporean dishes also here. If you are planning a visit here avoid Monday. Monday is weekly off.
