We like the ribs as it is not too soft and overcooked but just nice that it is chewy and easy to remove from the bone. Soup is the light and peppery type But you’ll have to wait as I think they cook on demand. The salted vegetable tastes good and is different from other bak kut teh.
The boild peanuts are a let down as there were not soft and smooth.

You like to try Bak Kut Teh, then try it here at this lovelu restaurant. Very close to the crowded centre, but quite quiet and comfortable for lunch. The bak kut teh is good , with many variants of side dishes. The soup is light, so it might not be tasty enough if you look for a strongly seasoned dish. Also remember to order the eggs 😉

    Overhyped and premium prices.

Food wasn’t terrible, but considering the price we paid, I would say it is not worth coming here. The premium pork ribs (long pork ribs) costs more slightly more than $11 per bowl, and there are only 2 ribs… And not the mention, the pork was not tender at all.

Soup wise, it is more towards the peppery side. The garlicky taste is also very strong, which I didn’t mind. However, there are better BKT soups around. The soup is also slightly on the oily side.

We also ordered the large intestines, ngoh hiang, pork trotter, preserved vegetables, oyster sauce vegetables. The others were pretty normal, nothing very outstanding but okay.

But shoutout to the ngoh hiang, that was really good! They used the ribs to make the ngoh hiang, so the meat is fatty and tasty. It is also more tender than the regular ngoh hiang. Dipped in the sweet sauce provided, wow! Really one of the better ngoh hiangs I have ever eaten.

If you were to come here, just order the ngoh hiang. It’s really not worth coming here to pay premium prices for tough pork ribs.

Bak Kut Teh (SGD $26) @ Legendary Bak Kut Teh.
Having established as their own brand since June 2011, this 3-generation family-run restaurant boasts exacting standards and good quality in their dishes.
Spiced with Sarawak peppercorn, the hearty broth is made by boiling pork back bones for hours, resulting in a rich meaty savoury sweet peppery spice flavour.
The fresh Indonesian pork ribs are large and meaty, gently simmered for up to 40 minutes till it achieves fall-off-the-bone tenderness, with a juicy sweet savoury chew.
The soft preserved mustard greens have light vegetal salty sweet earthy flavour, pairing well with the fluffy soft white rice with grainy sweet notes.
Completed with hot crisp you tiao / fried dough fritters, and a pot of warm Chinese tea.

Disappointing. Salted vegetables lacked taste, albeit it being slightly herbal and it was soaked in oil. Bak kut teh pork meat was so dry and chalky. The soup was good though, very creamy and almost ramen-soup-like. Totally not the traditional bak kut teh soup taste but was delish.

Never coming back here again. Songfa’s just around the corner.

The 2/3 pork ribs were tender (the other one isnt too hard too), we order pork cutlet which was just right. Overall, the lady boss and the staff were very humble and nice.

loved this place i came around 7 30 on a friday and the place although was quite in an awkward location served great food the prices were quite average for a family style chinese restaurant i liked their pig stomach meat and soup they were damn nice but i would prefer my soup and prom to be less peppery and for a more like herbal or light taste cos the pepper was quite overwhelming but i would like to visit it again because having tea and talking with my friends there seemed more peaceful and calming compared to other places

Delicious pork rib soup. The taste and aroma of ground pepper is dominating. Pork ribs are cooked just right. The flavour of soup is seeped into the tender pork. Go well with black soy sauce and sliced chili. In my personal opinion, the pig liver is over cooked. I like it to be softer.

Very clean and kind restaurant run by family!

Comparing to the famous bak kut teh chain, it is very clean and nice. The food is great (I wouldn’t say better because it tasted different!)

First, the chopsticks and spoons came out in the hot water… very Chinese tradition! Looked very clean and sanitary! I loved it!

The food came out all at once even though I ordered about five different foods! It was in the right temperature and vegetables were very fresh. I ordered tofu dish and it specially was very tasty!

The place wasn’t so big but tables weren’t arranged so tightly… very comfortable unlike the big chain ones!

The staff… every one of them includeing the owner or manager was super nice and kind!!! Very nice people!!!

I am glad that I found this place so I would come here instead whenever I visit Singapore!

    * I posted some photos of this restaurant on my IG on the same day and the owner liked my posting! LOL

** I went back this restaurant and I had a bun of food all by myself… when I paid I told the owner or manager that I gave 5stars of google review but she seemed ‘OK.. whatever…’ LOL

Tastes good, but prices for some add-ons (like peanuts and veggies) are unreasonably high. One other popular Bak Kut Teh chain nearby has a better offer in terms of portion size/value ratio.

Friendly waiters, tasty soup of pork, will come again.
We visited at nearly 11pm, the time they close. Their staff hosted us as if they just open, I know they must be very tired after long hours working. One of the boy were observant, he saw we like the soup, came to ask if we’d like to top-up some more for free. I’ve been at least 5 brands of Bah Kut Teh in Singapore, food is no big difference, what made them stand out is the good service. Thumb up for them!

Good pork rib soup and very peppery. The pork flavor was great, but the pepper was too much for me. But this was my first time having Bak Kut Teh, and the pepper sounds like the way it should be. The store has A/C, the waitress spoke japanese and they were very friendly! They had a DIY kit that you can buy to make the soup at home.

My friend and I had dinner there on 28th August. The lady server took our orders. She didn’t seem to understand English so I pointed to the photos of the dishes in the menu. When our orders arrived, there was 1 missing dish. I waited for almost 30 minutes for that dish to be served, only to be told that the server did not add that dish to the list of orders. While waiting for that said dish, I called the other server, who was a man, and he also cannot understand English. It was a big let down!

The bak kut teh tastes excellent. It has a strong taste of garlic and pepper. The portion is very small but you can refill it for free~ However, the ribs are so dry. The long ribs are slightly better. add-ons are quick expensive but the taste is good ($6.5 for a very small size of veggies)

Overall, taste is good but it seems a bit overpriced

Maybe it’s because I ate late in the evening, the soup was so peppery and spicy! My throat was burning after taking a mouth. When I told the staff, she simply said because it’s late and the soup will be spicy. I wasn’t expecting that but she brought another bowl of fresher soup and it was slightly less spicy. The saving grace is that the meat was fleshy and nice. Will probably only visit for lunch next time

Chain Bak Kut Teh restaurant in Singapore. Bak Kut Teh is a popular Singaporean soup with meaty pork ribs simmered in a complex broth of herbs and spices. The quality of service is quite good while the quantity of a plate is a bit small. The flavor of pepper was a bit strong too me, but overall good Bak Kut Teh restaurant.
