I personally didnt find the oomph factor in the soup. Ordered Mini Buddha Jump Over The Wall soup ($19.80). Soup was not better than what you can get elsewhere from hawker centres. 2 slices of abalone which was rather dry tasting. Pieces of chicken, dried oysters, mushroom and small scallops.
The only saving factor was its soup bowl, big enough for one person. Really nothing to shout about.
And also ordered the fried egg with prawns. Rather ordinary for taste, no doubt the prawns are good sized.
Overall the need to improve the soup quality.
Soup is nice but will never come again.
Pls tk note they dun allow refill of soup.

An excellent place for Chinese soups. The soups are served in individual portions and can be a light meal on their own with rice. The stir-fried dishes are flavorful and allow you to taste a variety without ordering too much. Service is prompt and polite. Overall a great experience for the family.
Good food and service
Was there before CNY, saw the lady(big size, always in black polo and black pants) standing in the soup area, she ate something and used her pointer finger to rub the food away from her teeth, most probably is to get rid of food stuck on her teeth, what’s horrible is that she proceed to prepare food like scooping rice, taking spoons without washing her hands. She just rubbed her teeth with her finger and didn’t bother to wash her hands before preparing the next order. The customer for that order has unknowingly taken food tainted with her saliva. Very disgusting. Other than this incident, the soup and food is actually quite nice but the staff’s hygiene and attitude needed a lot of improvement.

After reading the reviews here, i was quite skeptical but decided to take a 50-50 risk and thankfully it wasnt that bad except for a wrong choice of soup.
The buddha over the wall was super good and thick, and there were plenty of dried scallop and fish maw in it. The ginseng chicken soup was a miss for me though, as it was too herbally and “siap” due to the ginseng soaking for hours. Halfway through, we gave up drinking it. The tofu dish was really good that stole my entire bowl of rice!
Although the ginseng soup was a miss, i will still give 5 stars as it was overall still a good meal. We came on a sat lunch hours and it wasnt very crowded. The staff were mostly elderly so i think we should give some patience and it goes a long way for them. Please be nice and if they miss out your order or are a little slow, just remind them on look for the younger staff.
Oh! And we didnt feel thirsty after the meal (thank god not msg soup!)
Love the soup as always very tastely brewed and blend in. The pork is always tender and no matter what soup the ingredients is superb. The spring chicken is also fried nicely

hv been walking pass this restaurant a few times whenever i shop at Jem. it was almost dinner time, my family n i undecided what to eat so we went in to give the boiled soup a try. ordered watercress soup n salted veg duck soup. both are tasty n yummy. the soup are solid with good amt of ingredient, totally different from those norm coffeeshop served. thumbs up!
Comfort food especially the soup (lotus roots with ribs). Tasty and will come back.

2nd time, Father’s day dinner. I ordered almost 2 hundred dollars worth of food. I double checked oddle system say order confirmed. When dinner time comes, food missing! I called the store and they dare tell me no food order received. Then later say HQ oddle order did not flow down to them. My father’s day dinner messed up.

Go to place for Chinese soup, ingredients are fresh and portion is substantial for the price.

This is a franchise of all other LHT restaurants. Some may say this is an “upgraded” version from their food court servings which I suppose there is some truth since soup is more or less the same but this comes with service.
My only gripe with this particular outlet is that they do not allow 2nd servings of soup, which other outlets I’ve been to allow. Its not necessarily a bad experience but its a small thing to offer to enhance the overall experience.

Went on a tues evening, and was the last few customers. Popular soups like salted veg duck and old cucumber soup were sold out. So go earlier to avoid disappointment.
Pumpkin rice was fragrant and sweet. Signature tofu is well seasoned and big in portion too. 猪肚汤 is creamy, flavourful and feels like a warm blanket wrapping your stomach.
Will be back for more soups and to try other dish.

Awesome soups! I always have the lotus root and peanut soup which has never failed to disappoint. The steamed minced pork and marmite chicken were quite tasty too. Service by the staff (esp Ms Tri Dung) was excellent, who not only recommended a downsizing of my order but also packed the leftovers nicely for me.

Pretty good. I especially like the lotus root and peanut soup. I tried watercress soup once, but its soup was made of lotus root and peanuts, and it felt weird that time. At that time, I didn’t think to ask them if they got the wrong soup

Alight at Jurong East green MRT line and take a 5 mins walk to JEM. Lao Huo Tang is located at level 3 which you will see when you travel up the escalator that’s nearer to DonDonki.
Most probably you had encountered this brand of franchises at coffee shops or even hawker centres, but this is so much different here at this restaurant whether on prices or quality. I was skeptical about their food but I am quite impressed after trying it for myself.
Theue famous soup is definitely boiled much better with more ingredients and quality control. One serving of soup is more than enough for one person, I would say their one pot of soup can easily serve 2 pax. They do have other ala carte dishes which were akin to Zi Char menu and quality. Dishes on the menu are a hit or miss. Some where impressively good and there were others which are just meh. If you are a soup lover or a frequent customer of this franchise of soup, you have to pop by and try them.
P.S. Do take note the prices are higher than what you will pay in coffee shops or hawkers.

Ordered my favourite pear and apple soup – still so good! Tried the minced pork but did not like it. Was pleasantly surprised that a lady staff noticed it and asked for feedback. She apologised and took it away. Shortly a young looking gentlemen came to enquire. Thought he was the chef but turned out to be the manager of this branch in Jems. He apologised that it does not suit my taste and waived the charges Did not expect this. Will definitely go back.
