Salt baked chicken is nice with good price. The place is beside the main road and ambiance is like typical kopitiam. The drink stall beside it sells drinks at 1.5sgd for canned drinks.

Abalone noodle must try. Fish cake and herbal chicken also good. Worth eating. Also saw them selling NEW Abalone curry puff at $4 each but yet to try cause went alone can’t finish so much. If you are driving please remember to park at parking lot and place parking coupons.

Great meat and noodles! Only problem with this place is the busy traffic and smoke from exhaust and smokers.

I recommend the chicken thigh rice and tofu! Great portions.

It’s good and special, worths to have a taste. I ordered the 阿南鮑魚麵 for 7.5 Singaporean dollars. They served the noodle and the soup separately. Probably just like some Japanese ramen, this is to prevent the noodle to have soaked in the soup for too long, losing its natural elasticity.

But just like anywhere else, you cannot expect a decent portion for a meal in Singapore.

Had the salt baked chicken with dry mee Kia (not on menu but can ask). Fantastic! The noodles are apparently handmade and VERY tasty. Chicken not too salty. Will come back

Update: came back a year later in June 2020, and they told me that they cant give me plain noodles instead of the rice. “No such thing”. And the chicken was very bland. And to pay 30c for a spoonful of the chilli sauce???!! Very disappointed as I was looking forward to having it for so long.

My takeaway of the salted chicken and the chicken feet were both excellent. The chicken was fork tender, very juicy, and delicately salt-flavoured. The chicken feet were melt in your mouth tender with a wonderfully viscous abalone sauce. Service was quick and the prices were reasonable. Looking forward to trying out their noodles next.

Visited after refurbished Not a lot of tables still but turn-around is there. The chicken is good & tender so is the noodle being well cooked. Very clean, efficient place and that irony of sitting close to traffic running next to you for good meal is worth it …

Had their salt baked chicken with sausage rice, abalone noodle, and minced meat mushroom noodle with teochew dumplings on 3 seperate visit.

All are pretty good flavor wise, but I think salt baked chicken is Abit less tender than expected, their dry noodles are really flavorful and really recommended.
Their dumpling soup isn’t bad, but nothing to write home about.

Overall the food here is really of good standard and quality for me. The main issue will be ambience, as the store is outdoor and located near the main road, it will be very busy and noisy area.

Unfortunately didn’t take photo of my abalone noodle and minced meet noodle

I must say this is quite unlike the other Lam’s noodles I’ve had elsewhere. The noodles tasted really good and so did the sides; there’s a faint hint of vinegar in the flavours I think but really nicely balanced on the whole. The salt baked chicken leg was delightful as well, though I was expecting it to be even more tender actually.

I used to patronise this shop twice or three times a week more than 7 years ago. As the years go by, i frequent them lesser and lesser.

The price for a bowl of noodles keep increasing over the years. Its now $7.30 a bowl. The abalone soup used to be 8.80 each and increased to 18.80 each now.

Attitude of the workers/cashier not very pleasant. Have an ah beng attitude and gave me the impression that he looks down on me when i didnt want to order the 18.80 soup.

Their chairs are usually dirty, will have food remains. Probably because the cleaner who clear the table just sweep everything away. ‍️

Salt baked chicken is difficult to find in Singapore, and this is a bloody good rendition of it. The whole rice set is very well executed. The rice soaks up the chap trapped within that paper, chicken is very soft and quite flavourful (can be more seasoned) and the soup is not just plain warm water. Then the chili! Oh the chilli!

  37. Avatar photo

This is slightly overrated. The abalone is a bit tough to chew (probably overcooked) and the noodles are not springy.

Lam’s Abalone Noodle. The abalone noodles here most is like an enhanced version of what I usually get across the causeway and the normal minced pork noodle. Just removing the ramen egg and the stick of abalone and scallop and add some liver and you can already imagine what I meant. Lam’s noodle has been around for more than 30 years and there is a reason why it is still a crowd favourite.

Ah Lam’s Fresh Abalone Soup. Decided to take a plunge at their almost $20 Abalone soup and while it taste really good, it’s little steep on the pocket but if you feel like splurging, this is worth a try.

Glamming up a local celebrity dish with abalone and scallops. Lava egg although it didn’t flow, the yolk was creamy and flavoring was excellent. Noodles springy and had the right amount of vinegar to fire the appetite.

A situation where the signboard made the food look much more sumptuous that it actually was (so I consider myself a misled customer). To be fair, the salt baked chicken was tasty and quite tender too, but the presentation was sad — a freshly microwaved chicken, thrown onto a plate to be served hastily. The other dishes were alright, nothing to scream about.

We paid about $15/pax for this two-person spread, which is quite expensive for a coffee shop meal. Will most likely not return!

This is the main branch of Lam’s. I have enjoyed their abalone noodles at the other branches at Parkway and Marina Sq food court. I like it here even more. The noodles were cooked just right and springy. There was also a good spread of ingredients including a scallop, 2 pieces of abalone, braised egg and fresh slices of pork. The egg was cooked perfectly, just like the ones you get from Japanese ramen.

I rated 3 stars as I think their claimed signature abalone noodle is overly rated. I don’t even think it is an abalone but TOP shell instead. The noodle didn’t cook even properly as some of the noodle stocked together ! How possible someone can claim their noodle is cooked to perfection. However to get extra stars mainly is their baked chicken which is really good , the taste was great and perfectly cooked with moist meat inside ! Love the chicken and highly recommended the chicken than the noodle.. came to the chain restaurant at the Teck Chye Terrance chain branch instead. Google shall have this location identified.. do order the chicken is good enough. The chicken rice is so so and very blend!

Ordered the salted baked chicken tight $5.80, the meat is quite tender and juicy, not too overly salty but enough to make it savoury, reasonable size chicken tight, for the amount of work and effort needed to be done I’d say it’s on par with what is being charged, well marinated as the flavour penetrate deep into the meat, goes very well with the home made sweet sour chilli sauce.

Their main branch was closed for past two days. My wife has been craving and we went
There for past two nite’s, with great disappointments.
Finally at lunch today, We had our mee pok and salted bake chicken.
I m very impressed with the quality of their
Noodles and their chilli Paste that they are using. So much Improvement. Their abalone
Noodle spiced up with abalone, sotong ball and even lava egg with a mixture of minced meat with the pork ‘lard.’. Fabulously well
Honed skills in whipping the mee pok into
A simple yet maverliciously tasty bowl of

Lam’s is an interesting place if you’re looking for an authentic Chinese taste. They seem to be quite popular in the area and are easy to spot.

The staff immediately realized that I am new to the cuisine and were very patient with my order and gave enough warnings about the contents of the dish. They were also kind enough to help me with spoons etc when the saw that I was struggling with chopsticks.

Springy thin yellow noodles lathered in a right blend of vinegar and chilli paste, tossed to perfection.

Chose the set without the abalone to stretch the dollar and ordered extra noodles to fill the stomach.

Pair the noodle set with their salted baked chicken thigh to complete your meal.

Will come back for more when craving kicks in.

Nothing spectacular about the noodles but it does come with many interesting ingredients if you order their signature set. Mince meat, lean meat, fish ball, stew mushroom, half an egg and a stick of abalone. I would say that their salted bake chicken taste really good and it is something you shouldn’t miss. The meat is awesomely tender and infused with all the sea salt flavour. Suggest you eat it without dipping into the chilli they provide and enjoy the lock in flavour.

The food was not bad, but take note of the poor service from the Cashier (In Waterway pt outlet) is often not so friendly towards walk-in customers.
When I pass him my Tingkat for take away, he showed his poor attitude as he instructed me to open my Tin container before giving it to him, the way he put it was really turn off and he was rather rude.
I tried not to take it to heart.
And when he passed me back the change , he remained silent but I tried to be nice and said ‘thank you’ to him. He surely have heard me but he pretended never hear, and he did not respond. That was embarrasing!
Was very disappointed at this particular cashier’s attitude because I have observed this cashier has always behaves it this way whenever I buy from him previously, whenever he talk, he is in a rush, and talk in a way as if the customer owe him something.

I often visit this place because the salt baked chicken is just simply addicting. Usually I will order mie kosong and a salt baked chicken. Then ordered another 2 half boiled eggs at the coffee stall beside Lam’s. Tips to bring the experience even futher: Finish the noodle but left some of the meat, slice the chicken, then crack the half boil egg to the noodle bowl. Start mixing the egg with the meat leftovers and put some chicken on it. Pour little pepper and light soy sauce. Mix it and thank me later!

Amazing how an innocuous looking and culturally incorrect dish like this can taste so amazingly good !
The spaghetti was not as al dente is ” proper” Italian but a tad softer, closer to Singapore noodle style. Tossed in the most garlickly good sauce that played party with my tastebuds. And the chicken – moist, tender but with bite. The juices were not overpowered by any marinade but heightened by simple salt. Just literally round the corner but we just always pass it by, thinking that standards have dropped ! But totally not , and that made for a pleasant , pleasant surprise.
The signature noodles were quite small but packed with ingredients.
We packed home a salted chicken and I asked to buy the vinegar but not for sale.
For me, the vinegar added another dimension to the chicken , making each mouthful a silky , piquant delight

The food here is great, it’s delicious and the serving sizes are good. I’m not usually a fan of Chinese noodles, but I was thoroughly impressed by the tastiness if the noodles. The abalone noodles is the signature here and it’s very intense flavor when eaten dry is something to talk about for sure.

The atmosphere is an old, dirty coffee shop, so nothing much to praise here. It’s not that run down thankfully, but it is not the nicest establishment.

Had a chance to sample a bowl of Abalone Bak Chor Mee and a serving of Salt Baked Chicken Drumstick at the shop itself. I went with s friend who ordered the standard Bak Chor Mee.

The serving size was sufficient. Thr texture of the noodles was a little tough for my companion but alright for me. The taste seemed less than spectacular. Perhaps the expectations had been raised because it had been featured on a tv show about local food featuring the chicken.

In any case, the food was passable, but I have had bak chor mee which is comparable or better suited to my tastes elsewhere. I do like abalone, but perhaps not with bak chor mee. It seems to lack something in this particular dish although I might give it another try some other time. The price point for a dish with abalone is affordable. (At $20 and under in 2022, it’s a steal!)

This was my first time trying the Salt Baked Chicken. It was quite pleasant and not too salty. It did not have much of a herbal taste, but reminded me of some Paper-wrapped Chicken dishes served at other establishments. The chicken oozes juices collected in the paper. No wonder they like to pair this up with rice. The chicken drumstick was a not as fall-off-the-bone-tender as we had hoped. It might be better for the whole or half chicken. We guess it might be more popular than their bak chor mee.

Not sure if I’ll come back to try their prawn noodles. We’ll see.

Standard seemed to have fallen since my last visit a few years ago. Ordered tofu which was served on steel hot pot. Sauce was bubbling but tofu was pre fried (probably quite some time ago) and hot sauce only poured over when served.

$5 for a bowl of normal mincepork noodles..
    With 4 piece of mushroom…
Some mincepork and 1 fried fishball..
    Is definitely quite ex.
Finish the noodles in 3 mouth.
    A bit better than average…

    5/8/21

7.80 for a bowl of noodles.
I won’t say it is abalone noodles.
It is just braised abalone on The side.
The noodles is not cooked in the abalone soup.
The side soup is also just plain soup.
There is nothing abalone about the noodles other than the stick of 3 piece cut braised abalone on the side.

The abalone is about 1 buck.
    That fried fishball about 30cents.
    Egg about 40cents.
3 piece of fresh pork slice and 3-4 piece of mushroom…

    You can actually say….
It is just minced pork noodles..
    Add a stick of abalone.
If u think it this way…… Then I find the bowl expensive…
But if u think it as a bowl of abalone noodles….

Last time got a piece of carrot….
    Now also no more.
No orange colour or green veg as colour.

The wantans are 6 piece for 4 bucks..
    I think quite reasonable..
All the sides…I think quite reasonable…
    From 4bucks onwards…
From fried fish to toufu.. and their salted chicken..
    7bucks for a chicken thigh…
    Also quite reasonable price…

    But then again…
The abalone soup now is 19.80……
I remember last time was just 7-8…
Maybe last time smaller portion. I never order.. coz I feel too expensive…

If I use my logic to break down his ingredients in his soup…
I would compare with those double boil soup….

I didn’t finish my noodles today
    Maybe I came too early….
    The soup was quite bland…
And the noodles is hard .
Somehow didn’t feel the noodle right
Ate 1 mouth and 1 dumping and left…

    The dumplings are hard…
They didn’t really “hit” the dumpling meat soft…..
Just solid meat.. squeezed meat wrap in dumpling skin..

    See how next time…
I usually come here try the noodles , once every 2mths…
    Been coming to this coffeeshop…
For more than 30 years….. Way before even this Lam noodles come here to operate…..
