I frequent this coffeeshop because it’s got a very good mix of good standard food.
    DUCK RICE
Number one is the Duck Rice. This duck rice stall is very popular. It’s got the starchy gravy type. The duck is really tender and flavorful. Usually there’s be a queue but the service is quite efficient so waiting time is not too bad. You have to be prepared to take a bit of a ‘stern no-nonsense’ attitude from the uncle. Make up your mind what you want and give your order with clarity otherwise he’ll snap. : ) I think I have reviewed this stall before.
    FISH BALL NOODLE
This chain stall of Fish Ball Noodle is really good. The soup has the old school taste unlike some others; just that they don’t strain it and you have the bone residue floating around. The fish is nice tasting and fairly big and bouncy. I’m not usually fond of meat balls in this dish. In the old days there’s just the sliced lean pork and minced pork and fish balls and sliced fish cake. Their meat ball is really good though. It is definitely not those mass factory produced or frozen supermarket type. The blend of chilli and vinegar and pork lard is good too for the dry version. Used to have some cranky counter staff (I”ve reviewed this before) previously but now they’ve refurbished the stall and added new staffs that are more pleasant.
    TIM SUM
Great Tim Sum stall that have a good selection. I like the century egg congee, chee cheong fun, yam cake besides the usual char siew pau. This boss lady is really friendly and courteous.
CLAY POT RICE & HERBAL SOUP
They serve those regular soups with pork ribs. I usually go for the Watercress. The Clay Pot Rice was added quite recently and I hesitated to try it till a few weeks ago turns out it is pretty good.
    KIMLY ZHI CHAR
Your usual wide selection of cooked dishes and Rice Sets. Resonable price. Good to have a meal with family or friends.
    FISH SOUP
This stall have a good mix of fish soups – your usual batang fish soup plus they have it mixed with minced pork, with spinach, with bitter gourd.
    WESTERN FOOD
Not to my taste and the portion is rather small for the price you pay as compared to other coffeshops.
    ECONOMY BEEHOON and NASI LEMAK
Small operation. Don’t have that pull factor. I take the beehoon just to have different variety once awhile.
    DRINKS
The tea with milk is fragrant. My other favourite is lemon tea,

This coffee shop also goes by the name of : 881. Probably the local movie must have had a huge impact on the owners, heh.
The most popular stall here, arguably, is the corner dim sum stall. The owners makes a good portion of the dim sum themselves, as well as the bao. But the best dish, in my opinion, has got to be their homemade porridge. Both the pi tan zhou and peanut porridge are chockful of ingredients; I’ve discovered scallop, oyster, and other goodies over my many visits here. I don’t think anyone else serves porridge that’s even close to this. Definitely a must try.
