Food tastes excellent. Located just in front of an escalator on 2nd floor, so it’s hard to miss it unless you take a different escalator.

Quite consistent with the other reviews here. 2 stars is the max I could give this place for the quality of the fish used. We were the only table at that time and I ordered the bowl with the mentaiko sauce, and was extremely disgusted how they flooded it with the sauce making it almost impossible to finish. They also got my order wrong the first time. For then price (18.90 for mine I think) I would’ve expected a better quality bowl.

Food tasted great, portions were big but most importantly, the service was excellent. I was served by Mary at the Kallang Wave Mall outlet and she was all manners of attentive, constantly asking us if we wanted extra helpings and very friendly. Had a really wonderful experience, thanks Mary!

I ordered the 2 pax set for $36, and thought with the starters which included two gyozas, miso soup, a salad, green tea, the dons would be a steal. The seafood used in the signature chirashi don wasn’t very fresh, and the mentaiko kaisen don was drowned in sauce. The restaurant was not that crowded but the waitress forgot our gyozas and had to be reminded.

Maybe we caught them on an off day but I won’t be returning for a second visit.

Quite affordable kaisendon, from $9.90 to $19.90. No GST and svc charge. Simple and quick meal, ordered signature kaisendon and top up $3 for soup, salad and green tea. Ingredients are fresh. Only minus point is the tamago and rice are cold. I think it’s not cooked by order.

My first time eating here and it was a really good experience. The staff there were really nice and patient, explaining to us the different food on the menu. When food came, I was really impressed by the presentation and most importantly the taste. The seafood were really fresh and even the cooked salmon was really good. I would really recommend people to try and experience it for themselves.

If you enjoy eating Sashimi as much as I do, you should definitely go check out Kei Kaisendon. Rice bowls topped with a variety of fresh tasty sashimi, and most importantly it’s also affordable too.

    We ordered the Chirashi Kaisendon ($26.90) and Kei Signature Kaisendon (S – $12.90, M – $16.90 & L – $19.90) It was a satisfying and delicious meal.

    There are 4 interesting ways of eating Kaisendon;
1️⃣ Savour the fresh sashimi with a little bit of shoyu and wasabi.
2️⃣ Mix it with chilli powder and mayonnaise and blend them into the rice bowl.
3️⃣ After finish half of Kaisendon, pour miso soup and enjoy it as porridge.
4️⃣ Wrap the sashimi and rice with their special cut nori seaweed, and eat it like a handroll.

If you’re having good appetite like me, you can order Sushi to complete your meal. We ordered the Sanshoku Salmon Sushi ($12.90) & the Plate Sushi Set ($16.90) All sushi sets comes with salad and soup. The sushi and sashimi are so fresh that it almost melt in my mouth.

One of the worst don bowls I’ve ever had – and it’s not an overstatement. My husband tried to warn me of the low food quality here, but I made a long walk to the shop after reading reviews and thought my husband was dramatic (he was not), so I chose to proceed with orders. I ordered cooked food to be safe – unagi bowl which is hard to go wrong. But never in my mind I could imagine that they DO NOT use Japanese rice for a don bowl – it was some normal Thai rice (slim and little long vs. round and fluffy) beneath the unagi patch instead. Most of people around us left the rice uneaten – and so did I (forgot to take a photo of the rice only as proof). The unagi was good, in quite generous portion for the price. The sides are cheap, but not recommended for the raw dishes as I found them unfresh – like the super cheap $3.9 ikura and hotate, gave my stomach a little rumble. I don’t know man, if you can accept the non-Japanese rice don, then can give it a try and make your own judgement.
1 bowl of unagi rice and all the side dishes in the photos below came up to be $42 bill (with GST and service charge). I won’t say it’s cheap after all, especially with the dissatisfying taste.

Very bad service, was advertised that there was supposed to be a special Kaiseidon sauce but never receive it or told by my server. Food very average and pricey, I ordered salmon don, tamago egg and a bottle of water and it costed me 26+. Salmon slices but rice pretty decent.
Anyways I told post often but the service is really bad to the point where I have to post about it.

I’m a fan of Bara-chirashi don and Kei Kaisendon has met my standard and craving. Although there are better bara-chirashi places, Kei Kaisendon sells affordable dons with set meals.

Do take note that they have many chains around Singapore and If you want to visit, I prefer the Novena Square 2 chain. They are small and cosy with less crowd.

TL;DR – Overall, the don was delicious and the service is wonderful.

It was my first time eating at Kei Kaisendon, and i do have some expectation coming from this place as i have seen numerous good review online. My friend and I reached this outlet at roughly 7pm on a Tuesday night. The crowd there was okay, not too packed. We quickly settled down and was presented with a huge menu.

We ordered their signature kei kaisendon as well as the mentaiyaki kaisendon along with unagi and ikura as sides. Overall, i have to say that the sashimi was quite fresh and i really love it! However, the don with the mentaiyaki sauce can get quite “jelat” towards the end. Thus, if you’re not a huge fan of mentaiyaki sauce then it will be better getting other kind of don!

Not to mention, the service staff, she was nice to us and provided us with all the help we need.

For two set meal is pretty well thought out, with drinks, soup, salad and side dish along with the main dish, portion is more than filling for most people. The price is average, can be quite worth it for two person.

The seafood sashimi in Signature Kei Don wasn’t very fresh and the quality wasn’t very good. The Unagi Don on the other hand was pretty good for the price, comes with a tamago egg which makes the rice really creamy. It’s worth a try.

Btw price is nett, which makes the deal sweeter

These guys at Kei Kaisendon give us fresh seafood over fluffy rice. Don’t bother reading all the reviews below when you’re deciding to eat from here. As long as you’re getting the healthy choices from their menu, you shouldn’t be worried about having too much sauce over your food – that’s utterly ridiculous. And the price here is super competitive for quality like that – I’m not sure which trash can these people have been eating from. Anyway! It’s a 5 out of 5 from me, no doubt!

We chose the Value Set Meal for $39.90++, which has 2 sets of 2 main plus 2 clam soup, 4 gyoza, 2 salads and 2 teas. We selected signature kaisendon and mentaiyaki kaisendon, both are fresh and flavourful, quite a good amount of seafood – including scallop etc and we asked not to get tuna. Delightful Don bowls of Japanese seafood on rice. Tried the signature Kei Kaisen , Aburizal Mentaiko and Unagi. Added an order of my favourite Ikura (salmon roe). Sets of two comes with bundle of miso soup, boiled gyoza and salad. Get the regular size because the small ones are going to be tiny for most people. Food is good. The tables are kid sized though. I guess that’s the sacrifice to get reasonable priced good food. Don’t mind coming back to visit or try out their other branches.

    Expensive.
Unagi don acceptable, not too salty.
The unagi had way too many bones not skilfully filleted. The skin should be better flamed to give more flavour.

The bowl includes onsen egg, tamagoyaki, sesami, seaweed and pickles. Normally not a fan of tamago but complemented with the mentai and sauce made it palatable.

The set comes with soup, small salad, 1 cup of green tea and Mentaiyaki Ebi cost $60++ is very expensive was on promo for $30.
Mentaiyaki Ebi taste pleasant, not too salty except the prawn head was fishy.

The Don is so salty with the sauce that they put in, meats are fresh however the portion is quite small. Not value for money, you could have it way better at other places which serves more generous portion of Kaisendon. Will not return in the future, not even other outlets.

But not as good as imagined.
The lady served us it’s very nice
    And not so crowded.
It’s a good place to have a chilled dinner or lunch.
    They served food very fast

Excellent and friendly service. A small shop space but the service is superb. Friendly staff will advise you on the best value for money if you are using burpple, thats awesome; however they respect your decision and aren’t pushy about it. Food is great, especially if you like chirashi. Fiancee loved the smoked duck, was nice and hot.

My partner and I have been regular customers here for 1.5 years. Service and food has always been good. The food portion is especially HUGE so for the big eaters out there don’t you worry, as long as you order large size you’re good to go.

They’re also generous with the wasabi!

Two very similar bowl of Don but completely different taste profile. The Signature Kaisendon had a cleaner, lighter and fresher taste whereas the Mentaiyaki one had a more charred-flavour profile. Freshness of the seafood was undeniable as they were really firm and it was glistening when it was served.

The sides were on the saltier side but everything was still really good and worth a try if you like kaisendons!

An amazing experience all together. The Kei Signature Bowl was a parade of amazing seafood ranging from Tuna, Salmon and Squid to fresh prawns and Fish Roe. The sight of it is already mouthwatering. Digging my teeth into every bite is another experience all together. The fish had a kind of chewiness that I am a fan of. The crunch from the zucchini made the bowl a textured experience. Highly recommended!

Reasonably priced food for the portion and quality is normal.

Taste is also average. Some dishes were too heavy on the sauces and I’ll skip the gyozas.

Don’t serve beers or alcoholic beverages and service is not great.

Quite a few better Japanese options in the mall that I’d rather try instead of this place as I find it pretty average.

Miso Soup and Service are the standouts at this outlet. Miso soup is hearty, and is much more like a stew, containing salmon, carrots and daikon. Top notch

The actual kaisendon is alright, but ingredients weren’t the best. Perhaps as not all were seasonal. Rice itself should have more vinegar as it was just more sweet.

Props though for having decent tuna chunks, very tender.

For the price, the chirashi is less than decent. Quality varies by your luck and could sometimes already be stale and fishy. Even on the best days, you could get much better quality for just a little more elsewhere.

Visited the outlet at Sembawang Shopping Centre and was impressed by the variety of kaisendon that they offer. love the Mentaiyaki Kaisendon for their blow-torched tamago atop fresh sashimi loaded bowl of goodness.

For a meal with greater intake of carbs, I recommend their Large bowl of signature kaisendon. It was really fresh and filling, best of all – it’s only $19.90++.
