Very old and rundown hotel. Staff here are more courteous than Jayleen Clarke Quay hotel. Lots of ants inside the room. Ants come out fm everywhere. Victoria hotel at Victoria St is definitely a much better choice in terms of prices, location, cleanliness, service & room comfort. Their long stay price is really very very good and staff are more professional and helpful.

The rooms are good. But the main thing is service. The only people in the whole city who were so welcoming and friendly and were helpful to us. Eric, Irene and Christina, those guys are lovely, they helped us a lot. A shoutout to the owner as well for allowing us to use the pc there. Very good hospitality. Will miss you all guys. If your looking for cheap and no frills this will work. Old hotel. Can hear people in the hallway. Bathroom smells like sewer. Very, very small room and bathroom. Bed extremely hard and pillows were less than desirable. Breakfast was gross

I couldn’t stay in the high-floor room with a good view that was reserved by email. I must have let in another guest by mistake. I was lied to that it was under construction.
I can hear all the noises and conversations in the corridor from the room, and I feel restless. The shower head comes off when the water pressure is increased. Tattered.

Customer service really good. Emailed them to get early check in and received almost immediate response. Checked in smoothly. Place has a vintage decor that takes you back in time.

You can see that the rooms are visibly run down, wood floors split, grime and dust balls on walls and ceiling. Bed is uncomfortable and you can see it’s the movable kind. There were some stains on the sheets when we arrived as well.

That aside, the other things were great! There was a safe box, weighing scale, large wardrobe, bidet. Toilet was the cleanest (haha), towels fresh and the soap smells great.

It was a rather alright if you can’t find another place to stay at. We enjoyed ourselves here, it was homely and quiet.

If you ever check in here, do check out their view at the rooftop!

We are disappointed. We booked a no window room, which was not mentioned while I’m booking, only knew it after seeing the confirmation email, and I thought it was not important from Zen Rooms website. What’s more was the initial room given to us was not yet cleaned, empty bottles on the sink, dirty toilet floor & used toiletries. We decided to come down again to the lobby. The staffs were at first angry with us as we unable to unlock the door, and they were certain that the room was tidy-up already, so we brought them inside to see. In the end, the staff apologized and they’d given us a new room, cleaner but same in size. The hotel wifi is weak, so we used mobile data instead. It was supposed to be a staycation but we decided to roam around outside and just went back to hotel late night to sleep.

Great location near Raffles Place and Clarke Quay. Some reception staff not very friendly. Checked in at 10pm, paid cash. Cleaning and maintenance staff are excellent. They do have lots of ants so avoid bringing food into the room. We had one room for 3 adults but it was equipped for 5 people except it was very cramped with the double bed and two bunk beds. They have a little fridge and kettle. No hairdryer. They’ve got a very nice rooftop where you can have drinks or food. Hygiene is questionable as there was hair from other guests in the fridge and bathroom. Our toilet overflowed and leaked at times. The bathroom door didn’t close, I suppose the heat expanded the wood. We had a room facing the street so you can hear music and chatter from bar below but it didn’t bother me too much. Consider a room at the back if you are a light sleeper.

Jayleen 1918 is a good hotel. But this place can be much better. There is no dedicated room service. Also getting connected to wifi (which has become a basic necessity nowadays) is a big hassle. Locality is quite decent. Breakfast was pretty decent. Lobby has a piano which is an added bonus off a musician like me. Visited Singapore for a vacation week. So all in all a pretty decent experience. But experience in the hotel can get much better.

Great location, right next to Clarke Quay MRT station. Surrounded by restaurants, great for a short stay. In the evening take a lift to the rooftop of this hotel – great views. Breakfast available (we booked it with our room), quite a lot to choose from. Great service – when our WiFi broke down, they immediately started fixing it and when nothing else worked, they got the owner to bring completely new router to our room which solved the problem. Very close to Chinatown .

Good little spot — very convenient for public transportation. Internet is spotty so make sure you have your own 3G subscription, and definitely bring earplugs, as the BTS trains go past it from 6:00 am until midnight. They don’t do breakfast, but if you exit the hotel and turn left on Sukhumvit, the New Yorker Cafe serve an excellent breakfast with rather nice coffee.

I chose this hotel because of a sudden business trip, but since it is an old hotel, I have to endure it to some extent, but personally, there is a washbasin in the room, and the shower and toilet are separated by a shower curtain. Minus. Others are acceptable and the location is convenient because it is about 5 minutes on foot from MRT Clarke Quay Station.

Kaylee 1918 is a great value when staying in the downtown area. Excellent hot breakfast, included when prebooking, we were pleasantly surprised to have such a good breakfast.

Location can’t be beat, close to everything a tourist would want. Room was compact but still larger than any other budget hotel we have experienced. Room very comfortable and quiet. Bed was all foam and extremely comfortable. All amenities found in pricier hotels were there. Desk, safe for valuables, nice bath mirrors, etc. Very nicely done.

One of by the best parts was the staff. All First Class in terms of service, friendliness and professionalism.

A hotel in which its pros outweigh its cons. Priced reasonably, cleanliness is A+ and loved the colonial vibes it elicits. What’s more, it’s located near Clarke Quay. Great access to all the bus stops and MRT stations too. Staff are really friendly as well. Cons? I’m afraid there aren’t any.

    It’s really the worst.
Because arrival time is early morning
I booked 1 night + breakfast just to sleep, but this is not a place to stay again.
How does Singapore designate 3-star hotels?
    Room cleanliness is messy.
    Everywhere is outdated.
    The bathroom was under-cleaned.
The wall next to the sink was dirty with stains. There were spiders and cobwebs in the corner.
It would be better to eat convenience food at a convenience store than to eat breakfast.
I couldn’t sleep due to the music noise from a nearby store until 2 am.

Decent. Relatively clean but hotel smells. Room is generally clean but there’s a few items like the mirror that has not been cleaned before of after I arrived. Small ant like bugs in the rooms and the common areas. The elevator has air fresheners that stink badly and the hallways stink, makes me want to throw up. The rooms smell somewhat like those scents and the soap smell more than usual and is not pleasant. Never seen a hotel stink this bad. Old dirty chairs and lack of upkeep. Location fairly good. Breakfast okay. Room-sized okay. Safe in room. Not really nice but usable.

A bland, modest, oily breakfast buffet is provided at this hotel as part of the booking for guests of Jayleen Clarke Quay. Food seems nice as first but the oily nature of the food means that if you eat the rice, curries and fried noodles for more than a few days you could feel sick. There are better and cheaper dining options in Clarke Quay shopping mall food court by the Clarke quay MRT.

The food options for breakfast are not very wide though so I suggest that you just explore the location and have your breakfast outside instead. But nevertheless, we still had a good stay!

Exiting the MRT location, all you have to do is cross the road a little and you’ll arrive at this hotel. At first we thought we would get 4 bunk beds, but it didn’t, hehehe… how lucky we were..
The room is clean, the bathroom in (important) is also clean, there are towels for toiletries too, there is a TV and AC..
This location is also not far from Merlion Park, you just have to walk, or it’s hard to brake at night if you just walk there is a crowd & culinary center (yesterday I only found 1 halal Indian dish hehe)

the one near boat quay is good if your objective is to visit the riverside and marina bay area. near mrt station, so it’s easy to move around…. I think it’s a bit pricey for such a hotel….

Some might detect a charm. The flair is drab – oxymoronic yes. But true charm needs work creativity and flair.

Worst~ Worst~ The room is so small and smelly that I can’t even close the door. It is a place where I don’t want to visit again because it smells so moldy. I urge you to find out about other accommodations. The only advantage is that the location is good.

Not bad! Has everything we need and good location. Only comment would be that they should bleach their blankets, they’re clean but have stains.

a simple hotel at a reasonable price. it’s just by clarke quay station which is about 25 minute taxi ride from airport. reception is open 24/7 so no dramas about late check in. the guy at reception was super friendly and recommended we head straight upstairs to the rooftop to get the city views of all the lights over the financial district and marina bay sands. in the morning we made a coffee in our room and headed back up there to take in the daytime cityscape. the breakfast was a range of hot dishes like beans, noodles, rice and curry and also selection of cereals, juice and coffee. the hot food isn’t labelled so was hard to tell what was vegetarian or not so had to ask staff. we stayed in the economy double room with no windows. it was fine for us as we were only really using the room to sleep for one night but if you’re staying a few nights I recommend spending a bit more on a bigger room with windows. the bed was right up against the wall and the sheets were stained which was a off-putting. shower pressure and hot water was good. make sure if you want hot water to turn the switch on. wifi worked fine but not on rooftop.
