beautiful & chillax
Not as popular as the Chinese Garden that’s right next to it, but much less crowded as a result. Nice views of the surrounding area and only a few minutes walk from the MRT.
Many spectacular sights to see like the twin pagodas, bonsai garden, the few bridges and the live turtle and tortoise museum. The area there is quiet and peaceful, temperature there can be VERY HOT so bring a hat or umbrella just in case but nearing 4pm to 6pm it should be cooler by then.Beverages sold near the entrance as there are no shops in the garden itself,so bring or buy water/water bottle before strolling in the garden.
Very cool…
Quiet, well laid out. A lovely afternoon just outside of the city.
As quiet as Singapore can get
Cool garden with instagramable spots
A place of clean and natural environment. It’s very decorative with natural environment.
Love this place. Very tranquil. I am here on most weekends
Relaxing and lots of animals and insects to watch!
One of the tranquil places I’ve came across in a longtime, best place to spend time with love ones, with the bonzai trees placed nearby, can’t any better than these.
It’s a comfortable place for jogging and nowadays for pokemon go…!
well curated and tranquil
Japanese garden in Singapore is the best place shoot photo graphs in the morning. The light diffuse into the flora and fauna in natural manner making me to enjoy the transformation of every moment. The otters and birds makes garden vibrant.
A nice place to unwind and enjoy the afternoon breeze.. good plc to cycle and exercise tooo!
What a spectacular place. Scenic and picturesque place perfect for morning jog or cycling. Colourful flowers make a spectacular pattern. Skilfully trimmed trees in a japanese style. Bushes are neatly placed. Water is clear and serene. Offers unique flora and fauna. Viewed from a distance, it will make a nice pattern. Had a whale of time and will come againl
Nice parks
Well maintained gardens.
Quiet and serene, good place for a walk.
good for morning jogging
Nice landscapes and good for birding watching.
Quiet. Serene.
Saw a crane, thought I was actually in Japan. Would recommend to all animal lovers, cranes, cosplayers, and all the basic girls who just want a nice Instagram pic like me.
OKTO ON 5
Tranquillity is what I’ll use to describe Japanese Gardens. Nicely maintained by JTC, this place is a great place to get away from the hustle and bustle of Singapore living. A haven for various species of birds and wildlife. Great place for aspiring photographers and nature lovers. Take the Japanese theme with a pinch of salt and enjoy the gardens as it is.
Nice place, smaller than Chinese garden but still quite nice
Many squeal squirrels running around …
watch this wonderful video from Jurong
the only toori in singapore!
Scenic place. Open 5.30am. Good place for morning exercises.
Nicely done! For the tourist, pls keep the rubbish to yourself!
Nice place to take a stroll or just sit and chill. Tranquil and serene.
V nice park
A beautiful Japanese themed parc worth a visit.
Quiet and serene. Some interesting architecture though on a lesser scale compared to Chinese garden. Beautiful pond in the middle.
The most relaxing of Singapore’s public gardens, with plenty of benches and tables if you want to bring a picnic
Nice place to rest
Very pretty and peaceful
Tranquil place with scenic views of Jurong Lake. Great for outdoor activities such as cycling, jogging and sight-seeing.
first time going there, we had a fun time exploring the place and its very clean. there are a few water refilling point but need to bring portable fan though.
I like it
A quick getaway from our neighbourhood
Very good park
Prefer The Chinese Garden than The Japanese Garden as there is not much in The Japanese Garden. Nice bridges to take your OOTD and take photos. If you are around the corner, do visit The Japanese Garden.
It’s beautiful.those bonsai is AMAZING…#GodCreationIsLove….I LOVE SINGAPORE. …
This place is for people who like to spend some time walking enjoying the nature and get relaxed.
The place is awesome to look at now it is getting a revamp so the whole area is going to be so wonderful
Good place for families and friends to go for outdoor activities
Landscape is beautiful and blend well with the Jurong Lake – Attracts many Photographers to visit this Attraction
The ambience is supported further by the people who practice tai chi in full chinese clothing and the walking area is large and is flat.
very nice and cuteeee place
Beautiful and Quiet option if you go to Jurong Lake Garden
Another beautiful park in singapore. Artisticallt curated, clean n easy to navigate
Good
Good for relaxing and walking
Go and get your zen tank filled to the brim.
The garden is closed after 7pm
Nice place for a early morning or late evening walk to enjoy the fresh air and views
So beautiful place
Not as big as Chinese Garden I think, but a wonderful place indeed
Nice place to walk and get away from the city
Both gardens are closed till end of 2021. They should’ve put a note on Google maps too. But surrounding park is very nice.
Nice place
This is closed too. Gotta wait.
Lovely garden full of temples
Wonderful land for relaxation without any fee charged.
Beautiful park with great scenery.
Beautiful and peaceful
Integrated into Jurong Park
Very nice and quiet park out from city, hard to find the entrance. Free
Very nice
Awesome scenery, doesn’t look like typical Singapore park at all
love it
So relaxing
Not so good.. if u visit chinesse garden first…
Used to be the most beautiful garden in the west side of Singapore , now under redevelopment.
Relaxing and free.
Nice and peaceful
Great place for photo shooting and jogging
its so nice
Calm and peaceful. Right for you if you enjoy meditating. Carefully manicured zen gardens and quiet ambiance.
Not so much to see, but great for exercise: jog, walk, bike, etc
Nice and quiet place – except for Sundays
Revisiting the garden because of the new Jurong lake garden.
Nice park.
Both gardens are closed for renovation until 2021. I’ve learned the hard way, so posting this in case someone is planning to visit
Very serene, quiet, vast garden. It takes more than half a day to explore though. Can be boring since there is no activity aside of sightseeing
Its beautiful place to spend time with family and do picnic. Its a huge area. You have to go earlier as closes around 5 pm to see the turtle museum and some areas.
Nice natural garden. It’s good place for jogging, sight seeing, rest & relax and dating….
Beautiful place, perfect for a quiet stroll
Lovely walking around, great setting & you can imagine you are in Japan
One of the best attractions in Singapore. You can find two types of garden: Chinese and Japanese.
The Chinese one is filled with so many statues coming from Chinese legends and pagodas while the Japanese garden is well-designed in Japanese style.
This is a good place to relax, take a walk, or simply to go jogging.
Serenity and nature
Nice but not as nice as the next door chinese garden
Good place to visit.
Absolutly amazing place… the landscape is wonderful and there are a lot of animals to be entertained (i saw them fishing and moving around the lake). Very recommended, the best place of the gardens
Suitable for Track jogging
Nice small lakeside garden
Hot place. No air con. But have pokemons
Beautiful nature site.
Nice place!
Good place to take photos
Elegant.
Nice warm and windy place. Great view of lakeside with easy access to bikes and train stations being near by (skip driving) you can park near the HDB area.
Beautiful garden.
Beautiful garden that allow me to release
nice place to pass the weekend
Well kept green space. Chinese garden nearby has an abundance of bonzai
Scenic serene good for walk or run . That’s it. Chinese garden near by is way better.
A very beautiful n serene garden. Good for relaxation n the scenery is beautiful. Jogging or just a walk or a picnic. Just great.
Very good maintained garden.
Such a nice place. You suddenly get transported out of Sinapore, it really feels like you are in Japan as the people who have been there said. Clean place, but better go here when it is not peak hours, and avoid holidays because you can take better photos and more angles if there are less people around so you can enjoy. This is a photographer’s spot for sure. Lots of interesting subjects.
Nice calm place…Just plan to visit towards early evening
Super nice place to just hang out and be close to nature.
Such a beautiful park! I went here for a run and stopped for about 30 minutes to take pictures of the beautiful flowers and scenery. The lilies were blooming in late February.
This park was very calm and relaxing. On a Sunday morning at around 10 am, there were only 1-2 other people there. It would be a great place for reading, meditating, drawing etc.
nice place jogging
Incredible place for workout relaxation from nature
Not much to see. The garden is not really seriously Japanese
Nice park
Good place to hunt for Pokemon
nice Atmosphere but quite…
A great place for relaxing and taking pictures. Fresh air, beautiful ponds, you name it.
Japanese Garden Top view
Good for catching pokemon
Less populated than its chinese counterpart.
Good to roam and also good for little privacy
Good, small, pity it is too hot
Nice place to walk but I liked Chinese garden more.
Serene enviroment. A little crowded during weekends
Make me fresh
Nice place to relax with family in the nature
Nearby Chinese garden (and with a bridge access) its a calm place to relax! Need more installations like bathrooms and drinking water points! But beautiful!
Beautiful, serene and well maintained. Further from the train but a stroll will be kind to the heart, mind and soul.
Very pristine atmosphere. The garden is very well-maintained, as all gardens in Singapore are. The undulating, winding tracks make for a nice walk or a bicycle ride during the evening. There are stone lanterns everywhere beside the track, which adds to the Japanese feel of the gardens. Added feature are the multitude of bonsai trees. The adjacent Chinese gardens are also very nice.
So beautifull place….
Good place for relax or sport
Full of beautiful flowers
Lovely landscape
Love the water bodies
There is also a Chinese garden nearby with walking track for joggers
Very happy with the visit of this park, seeing squirrels, birds, turtles and tortoises!
Highly recommended for fresh air during the week end
lovely
would like to come again next year
We always come here whenever we want to relax. A very good place to do cycling and jogging then after that we usually look for a comfortable spot (usually in a shade of a tree) then we just stay there for about 2-3 hours while reading books, listening to the birds or music, feeling the breeze, or sometimes we even fall asleep.
Paths are not connected and very few shelters from the sun
Nice garden. Cycling is allowed and there are a lot of people taking a walk and jogging in the evening
Great for exercise
V.nice
Beautifully manicured through the years and if you go on a gentle weather day, the place will be most tranquil and peaceful. Hope the renovation will not destroy all the majestic trees grown and save the best Nature works there.
A lovely zen style garden
Nicely done! For the tourist, pls keep the rubbish to yourself!
I love Japanese garden because of all here by surroundings..clean and fresh..if you want a quiet place to relax you can find at the lake side if Japanese garden and just next to Chinese garden.
Nice place
Nice place to walking
A peaceful place…
Nice place for evening walk (with in 7pm). You will definitely enjoy the place beside a small pond.
Easy access from MRT Station. Calm scenery. Toilets are clean and well maintained. Large shelters are available. Good for macro photography and lots of large birds, for those who are into this.
A great beautiful place. Looking very nice and clean. You can see a temple is there. People love to see this place there is always a room available it not a rushy place. A one can have a great weekend there very cool place. Public transport available to come there both bus and mrt can be used.
It’s really a delicate place to go if you have an idle weekend. We live not so far so we just walk there. It’s a bit over decorated considering how small it is. But the Japanese elements do give the whole place a hue of silence and peace. Besides, you don’t have to be a pro to take nice pics there, since the setting has provided enough contrast.
Nice place to walk around, very quiet and peaceful, but no any cafes or restaurants
Garden is small. But should definitely visit if you go Chinese Garden.
Great place got jogging
It’s well developing for kids and adults
Huge park for casual walk. Showcase Japanese style Zen garden and landscaping. Ideal for family outing.
A great place designed by reputable professor Kinsaku Nakane(中根 金作氏) is suitable for contemplation. IMHO, it is one of most mantained japanese-style gardens aborad.
The Japanese gardens were extremely lovely. I was disappointed to find a fishing hand line sling in a tree and plastic bag in a pond a turtle was sunning on the edge of. The restful /peace I felt was ruined when I also went to see the live turtle and tortoise museum. I was horrified that something so cruel and dirty was on the same grounds as your beautiful gardens A real shame as this very sad.
Closed for renovation till 2021.
Beautiful and peaceful. Early morning are the best time to jog here. Discover variety of fauna and flora.
Nice for early morning or evening promenade
Very nice garden, quite new , nobody during weekdays
This wasn’t the seiwa-en of the late 1970s. The structure and greenery are still there but the magic is somewhat gone. Ditto for the Chinese Garden.
The air of tranquility was snuffed put by the rush of modernisation. Nevertheless, a walk through feels better than that of the clinical Garden by the Bay.
Here there are age old vegetation and sage trees. Not quite that of the venerable Botanical Gardens (the real deal) but greenery of yesteryear still abounds.
Go, take in whatever is left before they start “reinvigorating” the last vestiges of a green lung that the founders of Jurong put in place
Call me a cynic, but serenity and tranquility is what a garden offers – not activities or opportunities (businesses). Look what happened to Sentosa.
I absolutely loved this place. Beautiful buildings and a beautiful park, and seen some wildlife animals like turtles! loved it.
A great place among greeneries amidst the hustle of City
Good atmosphere
Lovely garden to take a stroll. Just beside Chinese MRT station only. Closes at 7pm though.
One of the best Gardens in the West Area
Place to relax , nothing to pay . Free . Just relax
Opens at 5 am and closes at 7pm. Allow at least an hour. Go in the evening for better photo lighting
go jogging good nice places
It is very calm to visit during less crowded days. Nicely designed layout makes it quite like the real garden in Japan. Pond, trees and birds are the combination of balance of nature. You won’t feel stressed in this garden.
As the name says it’s a garden… The Japanese represents some of the heritage and history of the Japanese people… The children playground is better… The bridge has few photo spots… Overall a good place to spend some time…
Great place to just chill. Very tranquil and peaceful. Just a pleasant place to be. Many animals, too, like Turtles, Storks, Pelicans, Kingfisher, Otters, amd Iguanas.
Good place to spend time
Quiet, serene, green park for rest and relax
Newly done up park by nparks. Comes with pool n gym now by clubfit. . Location is not most convenient but lots of beautiful gardening
Japanese style garden, nice for meditation and jog/walk with a lovely views!
Japanses Garden 日本花園
This is part of Chinese Garden.
Garden within garden.
Nearest MRT station Chinese Garden. 5min walk to garden.
Last update Jul 2017
Nice park to take a stroll and catch some wildlife. Drinking fountains are also provided throughout the park.
Under rated. Great for family day out
One of a country themed parked in Jurong a nice place with plenty of places to chill and flowers for the family to enjoy!
The Chinese garden is the better of the gardens here
Must see. Beautiful, very peaceful, almost Zen like experience.
Great place so peaceful
Nice and quiet place. If you need the other side of city, there is it.
just next to Chinese Garden by a white bridge — is another source of free roaming wild birds and the river is filled with fish as well which is an ideal location for large bird (below photos shared for the records)
I absolutely loved this place. Beautiful buildings and a beautiful park, and seen some wildlife animals like turtles! loved it.
Not the kind of Japanese garden I have in mind. Maybe because it is under renovation.
Closed till late 2021 for renovation
Love the place , good for family taking a walk and picnic .
The Japanese Garden is joined to the Chinese Garden but there is not much to see here. However the park is spacious, making it a good place to exercise. Only a small part of the garden look Japanese and the rest are just an ordinary garden.
Wonderful place for greenery and the forest reserves which was modified for the public to have a walk and refresh
good view garden
Visiting since childhood. Never change but clean and green. Awesome place for a jog or gathering
The most magical place in Singapore
It’s nice garden and good to walk in the evening, exercise and cycling it’s nice great place
Nice and clean. Definitely recommend for weekend family gatherings/walks.
New Jurong Lake Garden is awesome!
Not as good as Chinese Garden. Just very little Japanese Building in this area
Nice, peaceful, serene landscaped garden of Japanese influence. With wide open spaces, huge lotus pond, and quaint Japanese bridges and arches, the garden is perfect for a picnic outing or a stroll through its greeneries. Don’t be surprised to bump into the family of otters who take Jurong Lake as their home.
Good for running.
beautiful park
Perfect place for morning walk/jogging
It’s a fantastic garden. However, I would suggest to add a few more leafy trees to create a bit more shade.
Nice getaway place
Suitable for half day trip at weekend
Fantastic place for workouts
Good place to chill out
Lot if greeneries and water fronts, birds and commodos.
Very beautiful and peaceful place.
Nice place to spend time
Nice peaceful place to have a walk or jog
Best place for picnic
Clean and Green….
Gardens are closed until the end of 2021.
Nice zen garden. Very peaceful and quiet.
They have amazing bonsai’s here.Overall a decent place.
This place isn’t what it used to be…
This is a classic. Note that it is closed for integration with Jurong Lake Gardens and for upgrading now.
Good for relaxation
Very satisfied & peaceful place to workout
Amazing view and a nice jogging place
Nice park
Best place for morning walk
The closure of this place is inevitable.
With less than 15days to its closure, it is time to grab your camera to take those shots the locations u grew up with. I am very sure you may have at least grew up going here once.
Japanese Garden has been living through many changes in Singapore. It moved from Queenstown to its current location beside Chinese Garden. Not only that, even the surrounding changed as well. The buses are now fitted with aircon whereas it was totally already cooling with d windows opened back then; taxis prices of $1.20 are now long gone; and many more…. But time stood still for this place and it is finally now going to go through a change.. A different pace, a different look and maybe a different vibe.. and we can just hope that you get d same feel after its revamp.
The current beauty and serenity of this place is still the same as how it was back then. If you had been here before for some event or even jz for a stroll, you will see there are lots of traces of the past. I won’t dwell on how this place came about or even where the development will head to, but all I would like to do, is encourage the youth to walk the path of what your parents walked on.
Come down for a stroll to enjoy the greenery, the birds that fly by, the bridges and ponds throughout the whole place. What i loved most about the place is the beauty and peace i can never get anywhere in Singapore. Tranquility is something i can never get enough off even after several visits here. So my advice is,
enjoy the place before it gets torn down and revamped.. we wont know what the future holds, so grab the present in image before it is lost…………
Oya… it is free to enter the place, so i hope it will entice you further to go! Hehehehe, cheers!
Psst… parking is not available here for now.. so just park opposite the place, at the HDB mscp and walk abit..
#famwithsten
A calm place for evening walk. Good place for photography too.
A nice park for bird watching – spot herons and egrets.
Very beautiful. Has a lot of play options for the kids
Quiet garden worth spending your time to enjoy the serenity
Nice place to hang around during sunset.
Red bridges and stone lanterns. Depicts beautifully Japanese style gardens.
Tranquil place to walk around
Really nice place and not that crowded highly recommend a visit
Quite and serene. Recommend to avoid daytime. The approach road is under construction and temporary carpark is opened. walking for 15 min is required from temporary carpark to entrance of the garden.
The landscape are excellent. But, all the leaf of the trees are too small. We are at tropical country and it is too hot during daytime. Cannot enjoy under the hot sun. Planting trees with big leaf is to provide the shade to cover sun light.
Encourage to plant fruit trees also. The fruits can donate for charity center in future and children can learn how and where the fruits from what type of trees.
Nice place to go for relaxation
That’s is outside Jurong Lake garden official opening on 27 April.
How people use the toilet paper here?
beautiful plants
A nice serene place with a seven storey pagoda offering good views. No entry fee and connected to Chinese Garden.
very nice place
Excellent
Good, but chinese garden is better
Very nice place for a stroll or jog. Gardens are well upkeep and clean. Plenty of quiet spots for you to read books or just sync with nature
An absolutely gorgeous place. This is connected to the Chinese garden on one side so it also feels like a single park. One end of the Japanese garden is being renovated (looks like they’re extending the area of the garden). But the place is open and it’s lovely. A perfect location to run, laze or do nothing at all.
Decent place for pinic and jogging. Recently became quite crowded due to the pokemon go craze.
