Not a good experience at all. Our room had ants and lizard! Room size it too small. Their breakfast is way too average. Air conditioners take around half n hour for the room to cool! Room service is pathetic!

Extremely small rooms. The service was strictly mediocre. We arrived at the hotel before check in time and had to wait for 2 hours for the room to be available. The linen provided in the room wasn’t the cleanest. There’s no buffet breakfast and the breakfast options are very limited. Hotel is in a very good location though. Walking distance to mrt stations and well located from many tourist spots.

If you are from India, you will find rooms very small here, so small that you can barely keep any of your bags.
    Cleanliness 3/5
    Room service (housekeeping) 5/5
    In room amenities 4/5
Restuarant 3/5 ( sad veg options)
    Location ( 5/5)
    Reception (5/5)

Lovely budget hotel. It is located in walking distance from mustafa center. In walking distance you will find MRT station. Friendly help desk. Their breakfast is good. You will get free wifi in your room. For first day you will get complimentary chocolate in fridge. They also provide drinking water (0.5 ml for each) free of charge.

I stayed here for one week with a colleague. We both had different rooms. We paid S$140 a night, including breakfast. The rooms were ok, the beds are hard, and clean but when you look close you see some dust on some areas. You have a clean bed, towels and some water everyday. The breakfast is not really amazing, that’s why the rating is lower.

Worth avoiding! Not a good place to stay – there are much better options available within the same neighborhood and within similar price range. Bad food, old rooms, old furniture, unhygienic practices all over the place at this hotel. Worst thing is the super rude staff (except the manager uncle at the counter who is the only nice guy). 1 star only for reliable Wi-Fi, everything else is just bad.

It was an okay stay. Close to local restaurants, and 24 hour mall. Room was small, so was the bathroom. Wouldn’t be too bad if it was cheaper, but there’s better hotels at this price point..

For the price that we paid, I’d give it 5-stars. We were supposed to get a room that had no window but we were upgraded to one that had one instead. Breakfast was included. Breakfast selection was not grand but was quite decent anyway. Location was very central to most tourist attractions. Rooms are tiny but if you intend to stay out the whole day and just need a place to sleep in at night, this is a perfect place. A lot of 24-hour restaurants around the area so you’ll never go hungry. I would recommend this palce

Unless room size good place to stay overnight.. Pretty near to few MRT stations around..

The hotel located in 8 Townshend Road — strategic enough, however it is not so easy to notice the building from the street. If you go by taxi, I believe the driver knew this place well. If you go by MRT, it probably around 700m until you get to this place. If you use bus, that would be near…but the route seems confusing if you are the first traveller here.

J8 is a modern and compact place to stay. Some people who already stayed here probably will assume this place is so small, because it actually is. Even the queen bed is…..also small for our feet.

The cleanliness is average, but in some parts (like bathroom etc) am not sure it is completely cleaned by the staff before we check in. TV channel is limited, we just watch youtube all the time (too bad) . The hot water sometimes not working and we gotta call technician. Most of the staffs are not helpful, which is dissapointing.

On the other side, we feel comfortable enough staying here for four nights. The check in process was quick. The breakfast is good for this kind of 3 stars hotel. But, you can find better hotel with the same price, I assume.

Hotel – Hotel was quite decent but room size is not as good as we took 3rd highest category.
Bathroom – Dirty and drainage system in bathroom was like hell, after 30 sec of shower, you have to wait 5 min to get water drain out. Really Pathetic
Breakfast – Same breakfast every day and restaurant employees are really rude in behavior. No Buffet.
Please note – This hotel is not suggestable for Indians, as a travel agent I am not going to advise this hotel to any single person even room getting cheaper.

This located very close to Jalan Besar MRT station and behing Hotel Boss. Nice and a simple hotel maintained very well and clean. Nearby there is a community playarea and will be easy for people coming with kids to spend their morning with tea. Breakfast privided was very good
Person at the reception named Shekar is very kind and provided lot of information for my sight seeing plan.

    1: cleanliness

The place was very dirty and the bathroom had worms around the drain hole. Very disappointed and lost my money. Was at a point thinking of shifting to a new hotel and ask for a refund because of being dirty. The bathroom curtains were so dirty and mouldy . Plus the drain hole stinked so bad that all days we had a very quick shower. Also tge bed sheets had some random red marks on them which i hope are not blood stains

    2: Attitude of some staff

There were 2 staff – one guy and a lady ( saw them on the night shift only ) who were rude as. The response they gave were very bad and felt like they dont want to even talk to their customers. One of them even walked off for something else while i was infront of the counter talking to them. But other staff very very nice but these 2 pulls the good work done by others too down.

I liked that the rooms could be cleaned late in the afternoon, and the check in and check out times are quite good at 2pm and 12 noon, respectively.
However, the lady at reception was unfriendly and UNwelcoming! The rooms are too small with NO space to put luggage. And make sure that the room you are booking has a window. It seems most of them don’t!

Breakfast choice is very limited, so if you going to be here for a week or more you will spend the entire time eating pretty much the same thing the entire time. It is also quite meagre, and not the best you can get.
They only serve Orange juice and you gotta pray that it hasn’t run out by the time you come because they do take their time to refill.

I don’t know if it’s Singaporean culture, but the waiters also seem uninterested in their job. One morning the guy taking breakfast orders at the counter just walked away after we told him what we’ll have. He didn’t acknowledge our order so we stood there wondering whether he will come back to us, but it turned out he was done with us and had proceeded to do his other stuff. We got juice and went to sit down, only for him to go and put our breakfast at a different table with no one sitting there. It was a frustrating and disrespectful experience to say the least.

The hotel was not pleasant for me. The hotel’s facilities are awful in comparison to the cost. There are a few staff employees who, in my experience, are really haughty. If you don’t know Chinese like me, the person in charge of breakfast will launch at you and invite other Chinese tourists to laugh at you. It was necessary for me to return and ask her to be more polite. In any case, the hotel’s main redeeming feature is its proximity to the MRT (which they name Metro), but since Singapore is so compact, you can pretty much choose any hotel and find it close to the METRA stop. What’s more, I’ve discovered that booking sites exclusively show you the worst hotels on your screen. In retrospect, I realize that I could have had far nicer accommodations at the same money. J8 is not worth the $350 for 3 days (my understanding).

Not so good experience. The location was amazing. Most places were at walk able distance and there were numbers of eateries available 24/7. However, the quality of the service or the rooms were not that good. The rooms were very small and the bathroom was dirty. The hand shower in the bathroom broke one random day and there was water everywhere which was very unpleasant.
However, the breakfast options were good and liked the service that was provided during the breakfast time.

They promised parking which then was unavailable when we first arrived. The AC leaked during our first night and we were told to mop it up with towels. They claimed our daughter wasn’t entitled to the breakfast that was included in our booking and blamed for the misinformation(they then waived the breakfast charge).
They triple chraged us for our stay – the receptionist insisted that we pay upfront when we checked in and charged my husbands credit card twice. They on the morning of our checkout day, they charged my credit card that Booking has on file too.
The staff were utterly unprofessional and useless in trying to sort out the situation. We still don’t know if we’ll get our money back.

The hotel is very clean and neat. If a clean room with a good bed and shower is what you’re looking for then this good. Breakfast was decent – good chocolate waffles. If you want luxury then I wouldn’t suggest J8 but it’s conveniently located – close to Little India and Chinatown. There are a few bars close by and a mall within walking distance. It’s also very close to the Lavender MRT.

Rooms are tiny and without windows, clean(ish), mod cons are almost nil… 1 plug in the bedroom! Asked reception if they had a spare adapter and they shrugged. At least they knew the area and pointed me in the correct direction. Staff are friendly and efficient just unfortunate they are unable to provide some necessities. Room prices are a bit to steep for what they provide, you’re better off trying your luck in the surrounding hotels.

In travel world hotel’s hospitality matters a lot but in J8 this word does not exist. Out of limited staff you will find only 1 or 2 people serving with smile rest all were very rude..
Breakfast and people serving(old lady in restaurant) both were pathetic…Seriously no manners..
We booked deluxe gold category and hotel website show the different pic, amenities etc.. What you get is different.
Being a travel expert by profession – “Travel expert do not send your clients here else you will get poor feedback from them”
Good part – Would like to appreciate only 1 person, that staff who use to clean our room on daily basis was doing his/her job perfectly and Mr Mak on reception who gave us the rooms early looking at our tired faces.

This is a quirky hotel. Very inexpensive for the location. Rooms are very small but clean, however a spare pillow looked like it had been accumulating dust for ages. Good mattress. Not enough electrical outlets, and they all turn off when you leave the room, so you can’t charge batteries while you are out.
The cafe downstairs makes a good breakfast, excellent coffee, even the instant in the room is surprisingly good. The towels are small, and not very good quality. They only give you two per night, and when we tried to get more more, we had a heated argument with the front desk.
(In Singapore, it is frequently necessary to take more than one shower per day, due to high heat and humidity)
This is our second visit, not sure we will be back.

As hotel location is in a rather obscure place. Nearest MRT train station is 10 mins walk so not too bad. Quiet neighborhood. But plenty of restaurants around. Mainly local Chinese delicacies. Just find those that have queue forming in the evenings. Hotel restaurant I’m afraid so so. Passable for quick snack. Mainly Western fare. Very reasonable prices. A small restaurant. Service is acceptable and towards the better end of the scale by the restaurant people. Hotel reception normal.

Hotel rooms are not serviced for new arrival guests. Bed sheets are crumpled when first checked in to room. Bedbugs all over the front of bed. Tv stand furniture was rotting and leaking with water. Toilet shower head continuously leaking all through the night. Toilet still had obvious blood stained (god knows what is it) from previous occupant. Sheets does not look like they are fresh and reused. Very very disgusting. I rarely comment negatively no matter how bad it gets. But this takes the toll. Even smaller cheaper budget hotels does way better than this. Of providing fresh sheets, clean toilet and serviceable furniture.
Hotel lobby also does not seem to take or bother temperature taking of arriving guests. I hope the management sees this and take this seriously.

A decent bed and breakfast in a quiet neighborhood where you can stay if you’re on a budget. Damn, I would come back here just for the Vietnamese coffee at the French-Vietnamese restaurant downstairs! It’s a shame I forgot to ask them if they sell ground coffee, or if they can share the brand so we can look for it elsewhere hehe. It’s also walking distance from Mustafah Centre and Little India so you can do your shopping and food tripping right here.

Rooms and around the hotel was quite clean but however do find some drawbacks as follows:
    1) Rooms and Bathrooms – Super small! Deluxe or whatever you can call it, do expect it to be small.
    2) Food – Not that great, same breakfast during our entire stay for a week.
    3) Staff – There was a old gent, who was very helpful and the cleaners are quite friendly as well, except for some short hair lady, she was bit fussy at times (example, if we decide to sit in an inside table and we want to change to an outside, she makes a fuss saying they cannot find us.. I mean it’s not marina bay to have 100’s of rooms and guests).
    4) Accessibility – Perfect! Close by (500m or less) to all MRTs, Mustafa Centre, City Square Mall etc.
    5) Value for Money – No other hotel around offered with Breakfast, but J8 did.

We were looking for a place to stay within our $100 budget. We found the J8 Hotel to be in a fairly good location set in a quiet neighborhood near Little India and also near many eateries.

There’s a good pig organ soup place and curry rice place a block away along Jalan Besar.

Several eateries and a small park just across the hotel. A hawker center is also nearby.

Rooms are on the small side and some rooms dont have windows.

Overall a good value for money hotel.

I didn’t stay at the hotel. I ate at the Vietnamese restaurant downstairs. The service was good. The food was delicious and the price reasonable. It is kind of at a back alley and so it is also a quiet restaurant. I loved it! Eat in peace, peace of mind!

At J8, you’ll get what you paid for. The room was barely big enough for 2, with very little space to move around.

Upon reaching our room, we noticed there was a damp and musty smell from the bathroom. We tried airing the bathroom while we were out and spraying some air freshener, but to no avail. On our 2nd night, we discovered a cockroach in the bathroom!

The only consolation was our breakfast, which was better than we expected. We had 3 breakfast dishes to choose from each day, in addition to toast and jam plus free flow coffee and tea.

The stay would’ve been tolerable if we were only there for 1-2 nights, but for a five-night stay, it’s best to go somewhere else to get your money’s worth. We will not be returning to J8 because of its poor cleanliness.

Please, the 3-star hotel rating given need to be review. Got conned by some reviews saying they have great staff and excellent food. During my whole stay, i only had their complimentary vietnamese breakfast for once and that’s enough, they don’t taste nice at all. There’s some kind of smell probably due to humidity along the rooms corridor. Furthermore, talking about their room interior , please at least do some minor renovation, the wall paint peel off, the aircond sound was quite strong, and you’ll see alot of WORMS (as shown in photo)moving around the drain hole in the bathroom. Not just one or two, but many. Disgusting! And lastly, not sure if they hire staff to assist the guests or to scared them off. I would like to share the inccident happened on 21 Aug 2022 night, which i planned to move out most of my luggages (yes, i have many luggages with me) to another place before i check out the next day to make convenient to my plan for the next day. As a guest, i don’t think i need to report to the hotel about my plan. As my husband helping me to move the luggages onto the hired vehicle, a male staff who was on duty at the front counter, instead of asking us if we need any help on getting taxi or carrying luggage, the guy said rudely “where is my hotel card?” “Don’t take my card.” VERY RUDE!! WHY JUDGED PEOPLE BASE ON YOUR OWN ASSUMPTION? Don’t forget that we pay your salary. Many people deserves this job than you, management please look into it seriously about your staff attitude. The attitude makes Singapore looks real bad. Really really disappointed. Not recommended at all.

The hotel is fairly close to public transport. Rooms are comfortable through they are small. But the arrangement of furniture and bathroom is good. To go to details here is the key points to consider

    The good
    1. Clean rooms cleaned everyday
    2. Good air conditioning.
    3. Good shower pressure
4.Fridge with first minibar free ( Non alcoholic)
5 . Safe elevator access with keycard
    6. Close to public transport
    7. Good tasty breakfast provided for all guests.
    8. Soap, shower gel and shampoo is provided in separate dispensers are of high quality.
    9. Tea coffee making facilities are good

    The bad
    1. Rooms are small.
    2. Only overhead shower is there
    3. Hot water is not available at the sink.
    4. No shower curtain so the bathroom get splashed out completely when you take a shower.
    5. If you have more than one luggage you are in trouble and need to keep it under the desk.
    6. They do not have luggage trolleys or scales so you need to get them up and down one by one and no way to weigh them .
    7. The android box connected to the tv is loaded with Netflix but if do not have an account you have no access.

Room and breakfast was pretty good but customer service is really poor. We asked for an extra bed sheet 3 times and were told each time that we would get it in around 10 minutes but nothing ever came. I gave up after the third time.

I forgot a piece of clothing in my room after check out and as i was travelling for 3 days i could not collect it straight away. I did however contact them 3 times saying that i’d be back to collect it but when i got back they had simply discarded it.

Would not reccomend this hotel even though the rooms and breakfast are decent if a situation arises where you need support from the staff you will not get any.

Best thing is they have breakfast set menu with free flow of noodles, bread, fruits, tea, coffee, and orange juice. Walking distance to Jalan Baser MRT station. If you are in to shopping this hotel is ideal as it’s couple of blocks away from the Mustafa Centre. All other things are good except for the room service. They have to work on their cleaning service as it is not that great. We stayed there for an almost a week but during this time they haven’t changed our bed linen at least for a once. According to my experience: normally hotels change bed linen at least twice, if the guests are staying at least a week. Moreover, the safe was locked and not usable. Therefore, I asked from the receptionist to fix that, but they haven’t taken care.

Hotel exterior was nice and clean looking. Checking in was hassle free. Staff serving us was nice but could have been better in terms of explaining information that we had to know. Like time for breakfast, etc… we had to ask before he told us. Apart from the room key, we were also given a membership card which doubles yup add a room key plus gives us 10% off on the restaurant any time we go there, which was nice.

Location was decent, a few mins walk to either lavender or farrer park met. However no direct bus stops near the vicinity of the hotel, and no main road nearby so flagging a cab might be difficult.

We got the patio room on a group deal which comes with dinner and breakfast at the in house restaurant. The room size was OK, slightly bigger than other 3 star hotels we’ve been too her, but maybe that’s due to it being the patio room Bed was reasonably comfortable, had an extra pillow. Air-conditioning was slow to respond to the temp set but it did kept us cool at night. Toilet was small and a shower screen separated the toilet from the shower area, thus expect the toile floor to be wet. Only rain shower available. No movable shower head which is odd. Toilet comes stock with the basic necessities like tooth brush, comb, vanity pack, etc… The TV was not working fine, had jitters and on and off the pictures flickered. Made viewing the TV really painful to the eyes which was quite disappointing… power sockets are 3 pin, require u to poke the top to plug in 2 pin plugs…. which was dangerous…. fridge comes stock with 2 cans or soft drinks plus some chocolates… kettle wasn’t working well too. The button to switch it in was loose and kept turning itself off. However, the wallpaper on one side of the room added some nice colour and the soothing image of trees was a nice addition to the room.

Dinner was OK. Had option of either steak or salmon. We got one each to try. Steak was not bad but medium well was more like medium rare. Salmon was slightly overcook. Taste wise, both were decent. The dinner that came with the Groupon didn’t include drinks, which was very weird. To note, the staff who served us, it was hard to understand her. Beer sold here was cheap, as compared to prices in a local pub.

Morning breakfast was also just OK. Had option of two set breakfast…. on buffet was bread, rice porridge and macaroni. Coffee and tea plus orange juice. Decent. Would have been better to serve buffet breakfast instead of the two sets.

All in all, this hotel has the potential to be a really great 3 star hotel if it just polishes up some of the points I’ve mentioned above. For the price paid, even though it’s a Groupon deal, I can think of a few other hotels which might be a better choice than J8 hotel, unless if u like to drink, since they sell cheap booze.

Room was tiny…$100 per night is a bit too expensive for a small room, cleanliness can be improve if they wipe the floor(there’s a drinks stain that i step on it…i know, its gross), toilet have no door between wet and dry area, so your floor matt is soak after shower, i gave 5 star because of the service staff and the breakfast was good for a small hotel. Overall is still a good stay and recommended for a budget travel.

We booked through agent two rooms for four days.
On arrival two rooms were alloted on different floor. Rooms were too small but we didn’t mind it.
Day 1. When we came back from our day sightseeing late night switched on AC but AC started leaking..water was continuously flowing. they told that things cannot be fixed so they gave us different room at 12.30 midnight
Day 2. In the morning we noticed tht sink in bathroom was chocked and water not draining…they called a guy to fix it he told he will come in five min but never appeared…finally we managed and while going out for day 2 trip gave clear instructions to reception that they can fix the problem in whole day but should be all set till time we come back. When we arrived the sink was now leaking ( like river)from base . Again in midnight they gave us new room n we shifted our luggage in midnight.
Day 3 stay was ok types
Day 4 we checked out in morning

    Small rooms
    Need maintenance in all rooms
    No help after 5pm
They just want u to stay with all problems.

My self and my husband travelled to Singapore for 5 days. We didn’t go through any travel agents. We just searched many online hotel booking sights such as agoda and booking. Com to search a hotel to stay in Singapore during our visit. We finally did the booking through agoda as it offer amazing discounts. We went through many reviews to select the best hotel that suits for us. We wanted a hotel with followings,
    1. Decent hotel matches for our budget (Accommodation is very expensive in Singapore)
    2. Near to bus and Mrt stations as it is the cheapest way to travel within Singapore.
    3. A hotel that serves free breakfast as most hotels don’t offer bf.
    4. Hotel with a comfortable bed and good bathroom
So we took time and read hundreds of reviews and finally booked J8 Hotel. We booked the delux silver category double room which is with a window. (Most of the rooms in Singapore hotels are without windows). However the hotel was fine.
    Pros of J8 hotel:
    1. Decent 3star boutique hotel in kallang area which is near to little india
    2. Serves free bf. You can order one of their available menus and in addition there is a free flaw of bread, noodles/pasta, orengee juice, tea or coffee.
    3. Have a good Indian reastaurent just over the hotel.
    4. Walking distance to Farrer Park, Lavender Mrt stations.
    5. Bus stop is very near you can go to singapore zoo by bus without any hazzle
    6. Very friendly staff.
    7. Check out is 12.00 noon but they allow us to stay 1 hour more foc. For additional hour we have to pay 10SGD per hour which is reasonable.
    8. Walking distance to Mustapha Center which is a 24 hour huge shopping mall from which you can buy any thing.

    1. Rooms are extremely small. You can difficultly keep 1 piece of large luggage in the room. (it is very common in all hotels in SG except 5 star hotels.)
    2. Very small bathroom. No shower cubicle so even the commode get wet when having a bath.
    3. No cupboard. You just have few hangers to hang cloths.
    4. We had a room with a bad view. Just small untidy roofs was our view.

In overall our stay was a satisfying one except aforementioned negetive points. But having a very little space and smaller bathrooms was a common feature of hotels in Singapore which we saw while going through many reviews of many hotels. As we are comming to hotel just to sleep at late night and have a bath, it was a vaey good hotel with a very good service. And I recommend this hotel to all Sri Lankan travellers who travel to Singapore on moderate budget travellers. We will go back there again definietly during our next visit.
    Loved it.

One of the cheapest hotels in Singapore, however the staff are very rude and the rooms are mixed. The air conditioning in our room didn’t work, or so we thought – it turns out it only works when you’re in the room, so be prepared to melt. The air con works via thermostat, however the fans are so weak that even when they are turned on they are not able to cool the room. I n my wife was in j8 hotel on 7,8,9 nov 2019. The room was so small that we could not keep our luggage. The a/c was not working, charger point not working. All together it was a nightmare. The reception desk lady behaved very rudely when we asked to change our room. Morning breakfast not friendly for indians. Never ever choose j8 hotel. Worst experience.

Location fantastic. Real gritty area. Rooms are you get what you pay for. It’s away from the trendy and expensive areas and you certainly notice the difference in food and drink prices around this area compared to the city areas. Breakfast at the hotel is good but we chose to eat a main meal here one night. That was a seriously BAD move. The chef’s chicken salad was my undoing and I spent the next day in absolute agony until the Imodium kicked in, and fragile for the next few days. So just be aware. Another bugbear was that our room always seemed to be the last one serviced. Which was really annoying when you spent the best part of the day out and you return in the late afternoon to an unserviced room.

+ Location of hotel is strategic, placed between East West Line MRT Lavender (if u wanna go to Changi Airport or to Merlion Park/Raffles Place MRT from here, it is very easy) and North East Line MRT Ferrer Park (if u wanna go to Sentosa Island)
+ 7/11 Groceries are located nearby herr
+ got playground for your kids in front of hotel
    + CHEAP!

    – Room are so small, you can even sit properly in your room
    – Some of the staff are not so hospitable, their hospitality is very poor. You will rarely got greet from staff here.

I have booked this hotel just because it is near to 3 MRT station beside that everything else is not worth staying here. The rooms are very very small, some of the rooms don’t have windows, and the one which have becomes hot so much in the day that there is no effect of air conditioning there. The thing which I disliked most is the “complementary” breakfast they offer. Literally every day they have the same menu which include only two veg item one is the pathetic sandwich one is mushroom Franky… although it is very cheap but I recommend choose some other hotels. There are many good one nearby ..

    Very good hotel to stay.
For Indians below are pros and cons:

    1. Location is at very good place and very close to mustafa centre which is 400mts and you can get near by Indian food there.
    2. Staff are polite but make sure you wait till they are done with your previous customer otherwise you may face rude behaviour with them
    3. Show respect to staff and the same you can expect. Try to greet them like “good morning” and they will be really happy to help you.
4.** Best thing in all singapore hotels is that they can help you keeping your luggage at safe place post your checkout so that you can roam till the night outside and then move.
    5. They really don’t expect tips from you but a Rating on Google.
    6. You can really roam at 12 midnight freely without fear in near by locations.
    7. Budgeted hotel who just want to sleep at night after roaming.
    8.secured hotel with CCTV camera.
    9. Free teamaker and coffee maker
    10. They have good interior design with some themes(different themes on different rooms)

1.there will be no taps (only shower) and no flush jet. Should be fine as we will go max once or twice which is fine for my case.
    2. Food – the free breakfast they serve is mostly non veg, but on last day I found that the receptionist told that they can prepare that Vietnamese dishes as vegetarian on special request so will try next time.
3.Water — water bottles we get only 2×500 ml per day/room but best part is that we can drink tap water in washroom . Initially I tried hesitantly and no issues observed. If you have any doubts you can bring water and heat it in kettle and drink them.
    4. Make sure you daily click on “Make up the room” switch inside. Otherwise they will not clean.
    5. Little patches on walls(it can only be felt when near and can’t be observed from far) but raised this point just for information and may differ from room to room.

Final verdict is that strictly for budget people who can compromise 1-2 things. Staff are very good here and we have free wifi and lobby.

Our stay in J8 Hotel was very disappointing. The room we were given had a faulty aircon. We would set it at 19° but after an hour it will automatically go back to 28°. Worst hotel I stayed in for the price. The rooms were not cleaned for the whole day. We had to remind them to clean the rooms and change the towels. There were not floor mat for the bathroom. When we requested, they said they didn’t have any and provided us with bath towels to place on the floor in the bathrooms. If they can do this, one can only imagine the hygiene of this place. The rooms are very poorly maintained with broken toilet flush and torn curtains. The location, however is ok and the surrounding area is very peaceful and nice.

I had a bad experience at this property after checking out. We stayed at J8 hotel for 4 nights from 8th – 12th November. The property is located near Lavender MRT and Farrer Park MRT. It was a convenient place for my vacation in terms of travel to various places. The room is small and had no space to move around if you have more than two 2 luggages. In short, the room is cramped for the price. The room facilities include an old air conditioner, a queen bed with tiny window, a small refrigerator , a safe, TV and hair dryer.
Coming over to breakfast, it is the same all the days. You only have 5 items to choose from and to be honest, it is decent for the price.
The staff at the hotel are not customer oriented and are rude when asked for help and don’t respond well.
I checked out on 12th and left my luggage at the reception area for some nearby shopping and to my surpise I got a call from the receptionist asking me report to the hotel immediately and the manager has an issue to discuss. I asked for some info and all i got was to immediately report to the hotel to discuss on the issue with the manager. I left all my shopping in between and rushed back to the hotel. The manager asked me to come to my room which was neat and tidy and showed me a screen damage on TV and enquired on the damage on the TV. He was trying to frame the breakage of TV on our part. Initially I was shocked to see the breakage on the screen. It is visible only when the TV is turned on. The four days I stayed there I used the hotel only to sleep and bath and never switched on the TV nor touched the remote. I gave my explanation to the manager and he was telling my explanation is not realistic and practical. I asked did the service staff check before I checked in on 8th. The manager informed the checks happen every day. This is again shocking, if they could not find the issue in the last 3 days how come only on the day I check out. He could not give me an answer and kept on saying your explanation is not practical and all guests use TV first. I stood with my explanation which holds true.

Finally after 10 minutes of conversation, the manager took my email ID and said he would contact me based on management’s decision.

This was a miserable experience and i had to rush for something i did not do. Atleast I should have been informed over phone when asked.

I am thankful to god for getting out of it without any issue.

Overall, this was a very bad experience and would never ever visit this property again.

Service is very poor. Not all staff are bad but there are enough really bad ones to put you off. I told a staff member at reception that my drain was clogged and he mumbled that the technician has gone home. I asked when it will be fixed and he said tomorrow after breakfast. This is OK except for the fact that he wasn’t even looking at me whilst he was talking. He was just on his phone sorting something else out for another guest and I had to keep repeating my question because he wasn’t paying attention to what I was saying. Why did he call me up to serve me then? Why not finish off the job with the current guest he was serving. When I said they seemed to have forgotten to make my bedsheets he asked me to show my room. He then flicked a switch to indicate “make my bed” and immediately walked out the door in a very mocking way.

When serving breakfast, I noticed a guest arriving at 7:35am ready to order. The restaurant staff bluntly said breakfast is at 7:40am! Firstly, it’s just 5 minutes. Secondly, if you can’t serve breakfast yet because it’s policy, at least say it in a nice way. Like, sorry could you please come back in 5mins? I guess it’s 3* hotel so you Get what you pay for..
The service you get here is the feeling of a place where the staff dread being at work.

There is no shower screen in the bathrooms so the water flows through the entire bathroom including toilet, where you stand to brush your teeth etc.
This is unhygienic as it is but to make matters worse, my the drain was clogged. So when showered it literally flooded the entire bathroom and almost into the bedroom. My friends had the same problem on a different floor so I think it’s a common issue at this hotel.

I honestly didn’t want to complain about it but since my room was right next to reception, I thought I’d just quickly ask them to pump the drain so at least it wouldn’t overflow tonight. But the extremely poor service put me to the edge and prompted me to write this post.

Location is great. Lots of eateries, bars, pubs etc around.

The room is very small but has everything you need.
It’s reasonably clean and you get 2 water bottles in the fridge each day.
Breakfast is included which tastes nice.
