“One of the best beef noodle in decades since independence day. A dish of tradition made good and kept alive by these operators. I can have it every day ”

“Probably the best beef noodles I’ve had so far. Everything was great except the long queue - the quality and flavour of the tendon, beef slices, beef balls, the gravy, the soup, and the portion.”

“Love it, worth the time queuing. Decently priced. Ordered mixed beef noodles with tendons dry, already quite big bowl for $6, additional ingredients cost $1 more..huge portion.”

“Yum yum beef noodles. The tendon is soft. Soup or dry both have different taste on its own. Worth the long Q”

“Long queue. Waiting time about 20 mins. The taste is more flavourful some people might not like that strong taste. Texture is more thicker than other stall.”

Be prepared to queue up for the noodles. Pricing is reasonable and the portions are generous and just nice for 1 person!

My parents used to patronised this Hwa Heng (Odeon)beef noodles for many years when I was a kid. I remembered that time was cooked by a very fat man, he perspired as if he was drenched in the rain. I queued nearly an hour before my turn. Although the smell is the same like 42years ago, but the taste is not the same like Odeon beef noodle anymore. The beef slice is cooked way too tough and the gravy is pretty salty.

although the soup tasted abit gamey, but generous beef given. would love to try the dry version next time!

I had the soup version. The sliced beef were all clumped together at the bottom, overcooked and dry.

Maybe the dry version might be better? I honestly can’t say till I try.

Expect loooooong queue regardless of time.

Beef Noodles (SGD $5) @ Hwa Heng Beef Noodles.
    .
Hailing from a beloved but now defunct beef noodle stall opposite the old Odeon theatre in the 1970s, you’re assured of a good quality bowl here, made with an authentic family receipe that hasn’t changed.
    .
They’re known for 2 things. The 1st, a robust Chinese Hainanese gravy, a thick and unctious sauce mixed with beef stock, superior soy sauce, then thickened with potato starch. Paired with lime juice, chinchaclok (fermented shrimp with salt and white vinegar), and chilli. The result is a big meaty savoury sweet salty tangy sour spicy burst of flavour.
    .
The 2nd is the generous cuts of perfectly cooked beef parts – springy beef meat balls, spongy beef tripe, tender medium-rare beef slices, and crunchy beansprouts, alongside silky smooth thick bee hoon / rice vermicelli noodles. Lovely meaty vegetal sweet savoury flavours.
    .
The stall only opens for a limited 4-days per week, and for only 5 hours each time. Needless to say, go early, and prepare to queue for up to 40 minutes.

One of the best but queue can be very long. Would have rated 5 star if the soup can be more consistant. While always flavourful, the soup can sometimes be too salty.

Best dry beef noodles in Singapore

The sister at the stall remembers her regular customers and their orders so well. She looks at me and asks me if it’s the same order, most times I only have to say ‘yes’. If only it was a proposal. Haha.

And they have been consistent in all my visits. The same bowl of dark gooey noodles in adequate gooey-ness, generous serving of kuay tiao and beef.

For the longest time, I’ve had the thick beehoon but ever since I’ve tried the kuay tiao version, there was no going back.

    $5 only, go where find?

They changed their signboard to a bigger and bright red color to attract more people attention.
I ordered a bowl of mixed beef noodles with tendon (S$6) in dry. The tendon and meat was just nice and not overly cook. They fill the noodle with the beef essence gravy and it taste nice. Not over/under taste and it’s just nice.
Watch out when you having their beef meatball because the juice will burst out. Caution hot !
Not to forget their chili sauce is awesome too. Really spicy and slightly lime sour taste to neutralize the greasy feels.

I ordered a bowl of comprehensive beef noodles (with gluten) for S$6. The soup is delicious and just right.
The dry noodles are topped with special beef essence sauce, covering each noodle, so that you can taste the deliciousness of beef.
Be extra careful when eating beef balls as they may explode.
The best choice for chili lovers must try his chili, which is just right, with a little sour taste

Address changed to #01-86. I between wet market and hawker centre. Dry version is superb! Just get all beef don’t cask for the beef ball. The beef is nicely done and tender. Soup version is a little bit salty. Awards 4 star for the super long queue and soup version. Beef ball is poorly done too. If you don’t t mind waiting for more than 30min for your food and not buying the soup version. It will be worth the 5 star

Ordered the 6.50 dry mixed tendon beef noodle. Was there at around 0930hrs and pls be reminded if you are there before the opening hours at 1000hrs, please go to the stall and grab a Q tag. They will served the queue based on the tag number when they open.

Gravy reminds of the Scotts Picnic foodcourt ones. Nice and thick. The good thing about this gravy is its not too salty.. just the right umami-ness. Brings back alot of memories for me. But i still prefer the gravy from Kim Keat. Not so dark and in my opinion more authentic. Having said that the gravy from Hwa Heng is not in any way bad. Its very very good in fact and i enjoyed it. Just a personal pref.

Generous serving which I felt its value for money. Must get the mixed bowl with tendon. Felt that the meat was abit overcooked though.. prefer it medium raw though.

Nonetheless this place is a good eat. Recommend.

After my 4th attempt I finally managed to convince myself to join in the Queue to find out what’s the hype. I finally succeed in getting a fix (last bowl some more)

Customer service- Though their biz is really good, owners are extremely courteous not a sign of “pek che”

Quantity- Ordered the mixed with tendon $6.50, at first it seems like no big deal but with every bite I discover more and more meat hidden within

It’s basically overflowed with soft meat and easily puts those food courts beef noodles that cost $11-13 in shame.

Quality- The gravy is flavorful but not salty enough for me till I add in their chilli and Wham! Everything falls in place.

Even though I gave it 5 rating but I won’t attempt another Q for it anymore. Cos the Q is just too long.

Chance upon this stall at Bendemeer hawker centre selling Hainanese beef noodle the previous time I was here. The queue was super long the last time I was here which deters me from joining the queue. I was here late afternoon, and the noticed that the queue was much shorter therefore I decided to join.

The beef noodle comes in both dry and soup and prices starts from SGD$5 onwards. There were many variations on the signboard, i choose the beef noodle with beef ball.

The bowl of noodle came with generous amount of sliced beef, Gravy is flavorful and has a thick consistency to it. The beef ball has a nice texture and tasted like homemade. Bowl of noodle was garnished with generous amount of bean sprouts.

Overall, beef noodle was to my liking and would recommend people to try if they are a fan of Hainanese beef noodle.

They have since changed their address to the back of the market near the toilet and wet market area.

Tried it after my colleagues raving over it while they were in the midst of shifting store. I’ve tried both the soup and dry version and I must say the soup is very light and palatable, and their beef portion is huge.

That said the queue is always long and the dry beef noodle always sold out by 2pm. Would I queue for 30 minutes for this? probably not. But it was good beef noodle.

We finally tried this beef noodle after queuing for 45 minutes during weekday late morning at 11.15am. My bowl of beef slice soup with tendon was overdone. Beef slice was rubbery. The broth was well seasoned though.

My spouse’s beef slice for his dry beef noodle was well cooked and tender. However, the sauce was a tad salty to our liking.

Unfortunately, we will not be returning to queue for this beef noodle again.

As one elderly uncle’s prompt reaction upon hearing that he would have to wait more than 30 minutes to purchase his meal, he remarked that he would rather buy his lunch at another food stall instead.

We will definitely patronise Bendemeer Food Centre but would join the queue for other gems instead.

Super long queue here at Hwa zheng Beef Noodles on a Thursday during lunch (about 12.30pm). Queued for 20 mins before I finally got to order. Tried the sliced beef noodles, dry, with laksa noodles ($5). Price is considered affordable as compared to other places. Was very delighted with the amount of beef slices they gave, very generous with the beef. The sauce was darker than usual and very tasty. However, was quite salty. What blew me away was the soup!!! The soup was so good, rich in beef flavour that I regret not ordering the soup instead. Overall, was really good! Worth the queue.

Parking on the other hand, during lunch time is not easy. There was a queue to enter the carpark and had to wait for carpark lots….

It’s been more than 6 months since I last went to queue for this beef noodle. Today had a strong craving for this and went down. There was about 12 persons in front of me. Took 35 minutes before I reach the front to order.
As usual, this dry beef noodle version is fantastic. Have eaten at many other places and this is by far the best. The ladies cooking and serving are always very polite. The lady taking the order will repeat what you ordered to make sure there is no misunderstanding.
Would love to eat this every week but the waiting time is the issue. Nonetheless, when the craving for this comes, will be back to wait patiently in line for this wonderful food.

Haven’t had the Hainanese beef noodles for more than a decade. The gravy, soup and lime brought back good memories. Unfortunately, I find the beef slices too chewy for my liking since we have better quality beef from Australia. This venue only opens from Wednesday to Saturday, 10 am to 2:30 pm each day. Without a single doubt, the best Beef Noodles in Singapore. It should be the Hainanese style of cooking. Remembered the old hawker store in Toa Payoh Central before relocated to Bendemeer Food Centre. It only open for 4 days per week (Wed-Sat) and between 10.30am to 2.30pm. It is a long snake queue but definitely worth the wait to enjoy this great bowl of beef noodles. Upon serving, you can put any amount of chilli sauce and cincalok (pickled shrimp) into the noodles. Cash payment only.

Open for 4.5 hours on 4 days only, this goes to show how popular their beef noodles are. Steady stream of people that moves. Waited overall 20 mins when I was at the end of the line.

Definitely a value for money with its big portion. Beef tendons were chunky and super tender. Meat portions were generous as well.Gravy was flavourful and thick, which coats the vermicelli really well. Chilli sauce at the side was the cherry on top! Tangy and slightly spicy to give a kick. Soup at the side cleanses the palate. I rate: 5/5

This stall serves the best Hainanese Beef noodle in Singapore..maybe even in the whole wide world. Unassuming and friendly, the Hainanese family manning the stall ensures the consistency and a stunning gravy that’s not over-powering but exuding a certain feel-food umami .. They had the option of Kway Teow also. Added $1 beef slices. The portion of beef was satisfying. Big filling bowl. The starchy gravy turned watery after a while. The soup was a bit salty though & inside it, lots of beef protein. The tripe was cut in thin stripes. No chinjialok but they have prawn paste to go with the chili. Overall, would say it’s a good bowl with reasonable prices.

I ordered dry Noodles combine which comes with thin pieces of slice beef, thick sauce and thick bee hoon. The combination is seriously addictive with addition of their chilli sauce.

This beef noodle originated at Bain St since the 60s. It’s probably the best in town with queue that’s about an hour long. With both dry n wet versions, it’s individual’s personal choice but both are just as good. Squeeze a lime as it will enhance the taste. Some may like to add the Chicago but the chilli is great

Singapore famous and well loved Beef Noodle.

Stall name is Toa Payoh Hwa Heng Beef Noodle but this stall is not in Toa Payoh but Boon Keng.

The queue for the food starts when the stall open. Some customers are already there before it. Be early.

For $5 per bowl, it offer alot of large beef slices with the white noodle (aka bee hoon) and cover with thick sauce.

There are other menu items (see photo menu) on offer but I prefer the straight beef slices noodle.

My expectation of the chilli sauce was different and was missing the old time favourite of chilli with chinchalok.

I understand that this will be the last remaining stall of Hwa Heng Beef Noodle and the owners may close down and retire. Go before it is all gone.

At 1pm, I still has to queue 40 mins for this bowl of dry beef noodles with beef balls ($5.50). Very generous with the sliced beef and you get two beef balls. Their braised sauce was viscous and just savoury enough especially if you pair it with their chilli sauce. The beef was thinly sliced and not over cooked. Beef balls were a bit of a disappointment. Felt like chewing through a ball of dough. The beef broth was nice with a strong taste of beef from blanching so much meat every day.

Very close to what I remembered of the old Odeon Beef Noodles. I have to say this is one of the best in Singapore today, which explains the queue.

Excellent. Probably the best dried beef noodle with sauce in Singapore. Purely Original.
Very well balanced from sauce to ingredients.
And a touch of the lime grago chilli combination into a super duper Meal.

    Fantastic dry beef noodle.

Super long queues on weekend. Expect to wait 30 to 60 minutes to order on weekends. However it is worth the wait.

Tender beef with savoury sauce, makes the dry beef noodle superb. The chincalok sauce is towards the starchy side, slightly thick and sticky but goes very well with the noodles.

Do head down early especially on weekends as they close once they have sold out, usually before noon. Operating hours are Wednesday to Saturday, 10am to 2.30pm, or when they have sold out.

Most delicious beef noodles i have ever eaten! Meat was tender and every mouthful is a delight. For the price of $5.50, I had tender beef, chewy noodles and loads of beansprouts and coriander garnish. Added beef balls for $1.00.

The beef is cooked to order, hence expect longer waiting time but trust me, it is VERY WORTH the wait. The noodle that i was “dry”. Love the thick gravy as it pairs well with the beef and noodle.

Will definitely be back to eat more!!

This review is on Bendemeer Market & Food Centre, #01-86, at Boon Keng MRT station.
There was already a queue at 10:30 AM. Waiting time was not too bad.
Firstly, the thick bee Hoon noodle is really nice, gravy and soup are spot on, and so are the chilli and sauce. The tendon is well cook but a little too soft to my liking. Beef are cut in long strips which add the enjoyment of eating. Beef balls are chunky and a favourite, and the other mix are great.
I would add, one of the best Beef Noodle store here in Sinagpore, that will satisfy your appetite. Mind you, a $5 or $6 serving is Big!
By the way, the store workers are very friendly too.

Tried their thick bee hoon mix beef bowl dry for lunch take away. The gravy is think dark and flavourful. The mix beef comprises beef slices, processes beef balls, beef tripe and tendon (well boiled and super soft).

The long queue validates the stall popularity. Stall operator is very friendly. Glad to have tried this place as recommended by colleagues. 5 stars.

Queue for this legendary beef noodles is never ending, even at 1:15pm on a weekday. While the line is long, the queue moves quite fast. Stall aunties are friendly too.

For $5.50, it comes with thick bee hoon, generously topped with thinly sliced beef and rich flavourful gravy. Add in the tangy spicy chilli sauce, the dish gets elevated to a whole new level.

Definitely one of the best beef noodles in town! Note: stall takes cash only.

There is always a long queue at Hwa Heng beef noodles. Since I had more time for lunch the other day..I decided to find out whats so nice about their beef noodles.

I ordered the $5 dry beef noodle and added on $1 of beef balls (because i queued for so long..i had to treat myself )

The noodles were covered in generous amount of brown sauce. The sauce was flavourful and just the right saltiness for my liking! The beef slices were tender and easy to bite, but was dry to eat it on its own. The stall owner gave a generous amount of beef slices which were best eaten together with the brown sauce and the chilli (or chincalok if you like).

The beef balls were one of the best that I’ve eaten! Usually there is a beefy smell in beef balls, but this one doesnt have, it taste really nice and is very solid and big! Worth the $1 for 2 big beef balls.

And the soup given alongside with the noodles was soooo good! I will order a bigger bowl of soup next time i come!!

So much good things about the beef noodles, but it lacked peanuts, which I prefer to have in my dry beef noodles to elevate the fragrance of the whole dish.

Overall, it is a delicious bowl of beef noodles, but i feel like 1hr is too long a wait. If the wait is about 20 to 30mins, I would definitely come again

Only buy this if you are willing to queue for up to 30 minutes even on a weekday afternoon. The food is simple, the beefy stock punches hard, although it may be a little too savoury for some.

I would say this, this is not a place if you enjoy subtlety in your food. The beef noodles here are both savoury, beefy and in general hits hard on the palate. I highly recommend the dry options with a huge serving of soup.

The gravy is simply delightful and when it get too thick, chase it down with the soup. I guarantee a wonderful experience is to be had.

Beef noodles with sliced beef and tendons at its best when the sliced beef are soft n tender and tendons that almost melt in your mouth. And the thick gravy is just nice and taste light n yet flavourful unlike others whose gravy are full of MSG.

And the ladies mending the stall are friendly and endearing – making sure you don’t over.

For the ladies, order a $5/6. For the men, order a $5+$2tendons.

Queued for 30 mins on a Saturday lunch. Generous portion of beef slices. Slightly overcooked though. Will ask chef to undercook the beef slices next time. Soup version is very flavourful and very close to what I remembered 20 years ago. The dry version is sweeter than I remembered. The chilli sauce is good. However, they either ran out of or missed out adding lime to enhance the taste.

This stall is always with long queue even though u go there at 11am but the food is really nice and worth for a long wait. Spent 45mins queuing for a bowl of beef noodle then another 15minuts to finished it. I never think that my one hour lunch break can be used in this manner. Talked to one uncle that was queuing in front me and understood that he came here purpose from Malaysia just to try out the beef noodle!… As a frequent visitor to this hawker center, after trying once, perhaps i will not go back and queue for second time. How good it can be if the stall owner can open one more stall to scale up the productivity and cut down the waiting time
