The food getting a little saltier. Hygiene is an issue. I saw a worker picked up and used the wanton skin that he had been dropped on the floor.

Not worth your money, they squash the chicken before chopping, the chai shew cut too thin, disappointing

  11. Avatar photo

Reading the reviews I am convinced the public do not know their food. Ordered the triple combo (roast duck, char siew, roast pork) and they were all disappointing. Char siew was dry and had no char; roast pork (烧肉) had all fats no 肉(meat); roast duck was dry. Not even sure how this made it into Seth Lui. Actually I know; probably a sponsored post as with most posts. The only saving grace is the roast pork skin is crispy.

Note: it’s not horrible, but it’s nothing to shout about. Edible and pretty much standard roast store, but nothing more than that.

Despite the name, I wasn’t impressed by the roasted duck. In fact, it was chewy and a bit too salty. Instead, the char siew was the star. Also try the salted duck soup. The store owner was hospitable. Overall a positive experience.

the shredded chicken hor fun and their chicken rice is truly top notch. i’m knocking down a couple of stars only because i feel their front man dealing with customers is really rude and aggressive for some reason.

If you can get past that, then enjoy!

After a pickleball session today, wasn’t particularly hungry. So I took my time to take a train to Lorong 1 Toa Payoh and had this char siew rice which I had not had for a while. A good $3.50 place of rice. Black coffee for $1.20. It was going to be 2pm soon and there was still many working crowd people eating there.

The char siew is the best, very tasty. The roast pork 2nd to it, follow by duck. You can get better chicken elsewhere, so can give it a miss. There is another stall just at an exit of Braddell MRT station, more convenient for those taking train.

    Review 2017, 5 stars
Been eating here each week for past 3 months. Variety of food options from Duck, char siew, sio bak, chicken rice, wanton mee and more. Great service from each and everyone.

    Review 2018, 2 stars
Service is not as good as in 2017. Sometimes they will ignore you even you waited at their stall. Always failed to provide what I asked for, extra chilli despite telling and reminded twice each time I ordered. They simply ignored my requests. I have stopped patronize since. Their attitude are getting worse. The only thing they are good at are asking you for payment first. I have dropped their 5 stars I gave in 2017 to 2 stars. That’s my first time doing that to any F&B outlet.

Wah I love it, it’s not the most tender but fat to meat ratio is low-key perfect (eaten one too many dry/tough duck meat elsewhere) . The soup also 10/10 very warm and herb-y (? 藥材) tastes expensive not normal Msg/Vege soup . Love the fragrant chili too!! But beware the spiciness packs a real punch~ gave a lot of cucumber haha and a tomato slice . But best part yet, 5± ppl in front all ordered (bulk) takeaways so boss (taking orders in the queue) let me go express queue and I successfully avoided the long queue !! SO NICE MEH!?

Very generous with the sauce, a truly worthwhile local delight to stop by for.

Meats served was flavourful, but the enjoyment of the dish is somewhat diminished by the thinness if the meat cuts. This detracts from the texture of the meats, albeit allowing the meats to marinate and soak in the sauce.

Situated in a coffeeshop beside a market, the place can be hot at midday, as with other coffeeshops in the area.

I’ve only ever had one dish here, their roast duck noodles. And I’ve never had better roast duck noodles. Everything is just superb, from the springy noodles themselves to the roast duck: fatty skin and moist meat. The vegetables are tasty, the chili outstanding, and their sauces are just right. I always wish for more meat, but the portion isn’t skimpy, it’s just so tasty.

-char siew, tender and decent taste but could be more caramelised with deeper flavour

Roast pork quite fatty. Not sure was it because it is dabao home, it is no longer crispy and quite salty. Duck meat is soft and tender, not bad. Overall is good.

Great looking roast meats – but letdown by thin slices of char siew.
The roast meats looked very good. I ordered wanton noodles and added some roast pork. Noodles are ok, roast pork is nice but not a huge cut. Biggest letdown was the char siew – very thin slices so can’t taste the sides. At $6, this portion is not that cheap.

Some good coffee shop roasted delights if you’re in the area. They’re very famous, with a lot of news coverage on the head chef, and operations are very streamlined now. Love the roasted pork xiu yok. The dumpling soup is only alright. Shall try the rest the next time! Service is quick. Prices reasonable too!

The stall is popular. They provide an uncommon sauce for the roasted meat. Its a like sweet sauce mixed with garlic and a liitle chili.
