Lots of food selection. Also has ample parking slots around. Just be careful of queues at popular stores during peak periods. Molly is also nearby if you want some traditional kuehs. One of the better fishmongers too. There Are more than 7 fishmongers and 3 pork suppliers and 3 chicken suppliers in the wet market.

Nice Food. Cantonese wanton mee, punggol noodles, kuey chap, Lor Ah Soo Lor mee, yi liu xiang nasi lemak, chwee kuey and the teochew noodle stall next to it. These are the better ones.

One of the best market to visit. First floor wet market has a wide selection of seafood; a seafood wholesale market used to be located here, thus the the area is Hougang, Back Harbour.
The food court is one of the best in Singapore. The Chinese nasi lemak has a queue from 6am. The is a one arm bandit Teochew fish ball noodles, yes he has only 1 arm. A kway chap that has long wait but not so great to me. 2 vegetarian stalls, both excellent. Only one Malay stall which is extremely good and cheap. They serve a mean Briyani on weekends and PH after 1pm. A few of the noodles stalks are very good. The fried Hokkien mee looks unprofessional by sell CKT too but it is awesome. I think no real bad stalls there. Enjoy exploring.

The kway chap here is no. 1 in SG. It is on the 2nd floor. By 11 on wkends, it is sold out n waiting time is 30 to 40 min. Still the best in my view and i have tried a lot of kway chap stalls. I have been a customer for over 15 years. Try it and u will know.

like many other hawker centres in Singapore there are a variety of Singaporean usual hawker fare here. However in recent years some of the old stalls have closed down like the kway zhup stall manned by the 90+ years old grandma and her children.

My husband loves wanton noodles , so we drove there after reading about Wang Wang Wanton Noodles but it was a disappointment..the noodles was just so-so, the chilli sauce got no kick but at least the dumplings were alright. At the end of the meal, his remarks was “I wouldn’t drive here again to eat this, once is enough”

Unique lor mee. In the looks and presentation wise it doesn’t appeal to you but once’s you you eat it. The thick broth has its umami flavour but it doesn’t cover the main ingredients like the fried fish and the braised pork.

The 和合 Min Jiang Kueh is probably one of the best I tasted in Singapore. They used to have another stall at Braddell. I used to patronise them for breakfast on my way to office some 10 years back. The stall holders are friendly and I’m happy that they are still doing great when I popped by their Hougang stall recently.

The western food & Yong dao foo side by side are great too..

The market have so many varieties that we can eat and cook.

The fish there are very fresh and some are good price.

I always buy pig tail, pig trouter, and some chicken and they are worth it .

Fruits are fresh too like pineapples and mangoes etc.

If you want to have 🪴plants 🪴 u can also choose to buy near the escalator when u go up to the food centre.
The Auntie has a green thumb. She has different of green plants and some edible plants to have for your own home.

Try some if u are new there. U will experience to save more than buying from the grocery store.

Their toilet upstairs also available and can do hand washing before eating time before or after the market.

    Be safe everyone.

Food is generally good at affordable prices and with good variety. However, the market and food centre is terribly overcrowded from as early as 6 am. During weekends, it’s even worse! Best to avoid such huge volume of human traffic. It seems like half the Hougang population as well as people from other estates flock to this market cum food centre! Can’t stand it!

A very local place in the heartland with a mixed of wet market in the ground level and hawker stalls in the upper deck. If you are looking for really local food especially Chinese traditional ones look no further than this place. Most of the time you need to share seats at the tables as the duo-seat tables are limited in number. Their fares are affordable as compared with those that are located near the MRT stations. Mostly run by small stallholders.

Came here with my wife to check out the wet market. Can tell from experience, the fish and chicken in this wet market are very fresh and reasonably priced. But as the prices are low, the mongers actually do not like to haggle and bargain. We bought a whole Batang fish (Spanish mackeral/马鲛鱼). The lady boss was kind enough to tell us there are 2 variants. One for deep frying and one for cooking in porridge. Also bought some smelt(沙尖鱼) and white snapper.

After the morning wet market shopping, we went up to the food centre on the 2nd storey. There’s escalators so it is fairly convenient for old folks too. There’s alot of yummy local food and we were spoiled for choices. Finally ordered Braised Duck Rice as we were told it’s normally sold out by noon. The duck meat is tender enough without loosing the chewy feel and the gravy is tip top. There’s actually 2 types of chilli provided. The anchovies chilli is good enough to down the whole plate of rice while the sweet n sour chilli adds a new dimension to the duck meat when dipped with. Lastly, the Duck rice comes with Salted vegetable soup! A rare find nowadays indeed.

This is one of the places where you can get local food. Mainly Chinese dishes like Kway Chap, Bak Kut Teh, Char Tow Kuay (Carrot Cake), Prawn Noodles, Chicken Rice, Yong Tau Foo, Law Mee. There is only one Malay stall selling Lontong, Mee Siam. Nasi Briyani is available on holidays and weekends.

A nice place to go for breakfast as there are a few shops selling coffee, toast and half-boiled eggs, though one has a longer queue due to the owner’s reputation for using fresh coffee powder to make each batch of coffee.

There are other breakfast staples like Chee Cheong Fun, Chwee Kuay, You Tiao, Nasi Lemak, Peanut Pancake.

Absolutely love to get my bee hoon kuey fix from Wang Wang #02-11. The old couple running the store is amazing. They make almost everything themselves. The bee hoon kuey dough is made by them, and it’s “cut to order”. Aunty will cut the portion of dough out, roll it flat, then hand pull every single piece of kuey into the pork broth. Not factory made yo. And their minced pork to noodles ratio is like the gold standard, every mouthful of kuey was accompanied by minced pork. Their own chili is the bomb, a half tsp is enough for my whole bowl of minced pork because it’s so potent! Nice garlicky fragrance without being too salty, not watered down too, so it goes perfect as a dip for the minced pork. Love it!

We have been enticed by a wide variety of food reminiscent of the good old days to be frequenting the hawker on the 2nd floor several times a week. That’s even though we are not even staying in Hougang! In addition, we have been buying both exotic & common vegetables, farm fresh mushrooms of all types from a specific stall located in the centre alley of the wet market. We have also been patronising a smaller flower stall located along the same alley as our favourite vegetable seller – to look out for an elderly aunty whose manning her flower stall. Her flowers seemed to last longer on our altar so we have been buying from her for the past 2 years. Food wise, there’s such a long list of favourites that we require time to compile and would upload once they are available! … for a taste of everyday local life.

Hainanese Village is largely a morning/lunch hawker centre with a wet market below (*totally closed Mondays), deep in the heartlands (*10min stroll thru the estate from Kovan MRT). You’ll find folks old and young here for the fresh fish, indulging in their fave meals; and the air is forever filled with evergreen mandarin classics, courtesy of the CD shop below.

The lor mee at the end is a perennial favorite (*closed Mon); at the other end, the braised ducks hanging on hooks are moving at brisk speed (Ming Fa Duck Rice 明发鸭饭, shifted here from Defu Lane); the wanton mee stall by the escalator will hook you with their springy (aka QQ aka al dente) noodles.

A wide variety of hawker food and good too. Sometimes you don’t know what to choose.

The honey lemon by Jia Ya coffee stall (佳雅) is very nice… Only $1.50 per cup…
