    very nice food. have been eating there for VERY long. the duck rice store left front from the escalator(front view) is good. the pig leg store near it is also very nice. the western food store at the very end of the right back from the escalator(front view) is also nice. a lot of nice food basically. there is also a store selling fish soup as one of their items, that’s nice too. can be eaten with just rice and the soup with ingredients inside. quite warm but nice and cozy when its raining. a lot of pigeons though, beware of them, they can be annoying at times. and it can be quite packed during the weekends or lunch time. basically nice people, nice food, nice vibe. a lot of nice stuff in total 😀

    Awesome market. Wet market on the first, hawker centre on the second floor. I recommend, Punggol noodles, Beach road prawn Mee, Duck rice from the first stall all the way at the end near Beach road prawn Mee, Sheng mian from fish soup stall. There are others really nice stall but these are those I patronize the most. Oh and I really like the drinks from the stall beside blend inc, not da zhong.

    It’s a wonderful place for breakfast or lunch. Many northeast side famous stores are here. The last two outpost of traditional hawkers centre of the northeast before you head on to commercial and barren ground of sengkang and punggol. There are good and economic duck rice, meat ball noodles, nasi lemak and many other variety of stores there. All are reasonable and affordable price. Quite a lot of choice to choose from however only one or two Muslim stalls.

    This market is very clean. Food is on the upper level. But be prepared as the escalator often breakdown. The more popular food stalls are: nasi lemak, woon toon noodle, duck rice, prawn mee these are hot sort after & must try. To know their popularity is by the line formed. These food stalls operate till about 3pm and nightly in operation only 4-5 stalls and closed around 8-9pm.
    People loved to do marketing here too as the fish, chicken and meat are all so fresh and reasonably priced. The stalls are well kept and evenly spread.
    On the ground level there’s also fruits, vegetables stalls. Also you can find a few reasonable fashion clothes shoplets. So don’t missed to explore this Hainanese market.

    I had NO PROBLEMS with the foods stalls or owners in term of service, friendly n smiling. Foods were nice n consistent prepared despite the raise of prices. However, l like to raise few questions for considerations:
    1) Despite the “RETURN TRAYS POLICY”, I have NOTICED THE CLEANING CREW THERE, ARE NOT PERFORMING ANY EXTRA DUTIES LIKE WIPING THE TABLE WITH SANITISER AFTER CUSTOMERS/ DINERS LEFT THE SEATS. THE CLEANING CREW preferred to stand there talking or looking to other/opposite way pretending INVISIBLE OR THEY SEE NOTHING. My opinion should WE DINE AT THE HAWKER CENTRE(or FOOD COURTS) SHOULD WE ALSO BRING ALONG OUR EXTRA TOWEL RAGS TO WIPE THE WHOLE TABLE FOR THE SAKE of these so-called “professional cleaners”
    2) Once l was with my colleagues having our 1.00pm lunch there, we saw a male n female NEA TEAM, BOTH at least SHOULD CHECK THE “RETURN TRAYS BOOTH” SURROUNDING N PAID A VISIT AT THE CENTRAL WASHING AREA BUT INSTEAD BOTH PAID ATTENTION ON DINERS SITTING AT THE TABLES …….
    3) With due respect, kindly LOOK INTO YOUR MELAMINE or PORCELINE WARE, CUTLERIES, CUPS n CHOPSTICKS WASHED OUT FROM YOUR FOOD CENTRE WASHING AREA ARE PROPERLY “W I P I N G C LE A N n D R Y” BEFORE DISTRIBUTION TO RESPECTIVE STALLS. ALL THESE ARE DAMMED WET, SOME STAINED MARKS …..
    WAS THERE ANY QC DONE or the Duty Supervisor was NO WAY TO BE FOUND? WE OVERHEARD A NUMBER OF STALL OWNERS SHOUTING THAT THEIR WARE, CUPS,CHOPSTICKS, FORKS, KNIVES are POORLY WASHED or NO DETERGENTS ARE USED FOR THE WHOLE WASH UP?.
    MIND YOU, the cleanliness of these items are POORLY HANDLE INCLUDING THE HYGIENE ASPECTS. WOULD APPRECIATE THE HAWKERS MANAGEMENT n YOUR SO-CALLED CLEANING TEAM n CREW with their uniform PRINTED “STEWARD” DO THEIR JOBS IN PROPER, PROFESSIONAL, PRIDE n WALK AROUND TO SEE FOR YOURSELF DURING THE PEAK HOURS, n DON’T LEAVE YOUR CREW UNSUPERVISED OR PERFORMING THE CLEANING IN SHORTCUT
    4) OUR conclusion, DO THE NEA AGENCY THINK THAT “CLEAR YOUR TRAYS POLICY” are SUCESSFULLY IMPLEMENTED AT as there are still MORE ROOMS FOR IMPROVEMENT, SUPERVISION, ACHIEVEMENTS BEFORE WE CAN see THE PROPER RESULTS

    This market cum hawker centre is also known as Hainanese village centre. There are many famous hawker stalls here like Ta-chong coffee stall, fishball noodle, law-noodle…etc.

    The market here is also popular for being fresh of the stuff sold by various stalls like seafoods, vegetables, chickens, porks, ducks…etc.

    There are toilets at ground floor & first floor. A big open carpark and a multi story carpark thus parking is not a problem for visitors.

    [TL;DR]: Very long lines, very good tastes, much history. Come here & visit, eat!! Worth the wait. See recommendations at end of review.
    REVIEW: Long lines, good tastes: the stalls with the queues are the one that make you go “mama-mia!!”. Most go back quite some time (prawn noodles, nasi lemak, chinese mee siam, halal nasi lemak…).
    History: Was told the fish here was really fresh; When the old Kangkar port was closed, they say many of the fisher folk relocated here, is that right? Place is also known as the Hainanese village. Anyways, always good for a visit- the people in these parts are friendly! I always say hello to the auntie at the coffee powder stall downstairs!
    RECOMMENDATIONS: I like:
    1. the coffee/tea/soya bean from the drinks stall (Shun Quan #02-38);
    2. the mee siam/porridge stall (#02-31 Jiu Ji Shu Shi);
    3. Malay food from Rosmin Muslim food #02-42;
    4. Downstairs in the market, the vegetable seller at #01-72 & 74 is quite a character, and I find his vegetables good and cheap.
    5. Oh, and the fruits from Huat Ahhh!! fruiterer #01-? in the atrium.

    So much good food here!! The lor mee (from both stalls, but I personally prefer the one that sells laksa too), and the fishball noodles are to die for. Not forgetting the erratic opening day of Nasi Lemak that closes at 12pm.
