Had a great stay in this hotel. Standard double room was spacious enough for 2 people. 3-5 mins walk to MRT. You can store your luggage upon checking out which is very convenient for tourists who wish to explore the city before catching their flights.

I will not recommend this hotel!
There is no window in the room. Another problem is a strange smell in my room. When l was asking about changing the room with a window a receptionist let me know that I should pay more 10 $ per night for the room with the window. This is hilarious situation!!! Stains on the sheet.

Went there during SCSM 2017 for 4D3N. Felt the price offered online and walk in almost the same.

The check in time earlier was allowed provided the room is ready. They are able to accommodate that. Location is very near to MRT.

The strangest part is their room cleaning routine which set at 9am to 6pm which at one time I left the hotel at noon time and thought the room will be refreshed and tidied up BUT it was not. That was around 5pm. Can you imagine them cleaning up your room when you are back from a long day trip.

The lobby smelt odd probably of the air refreshener that they used.

Pillow is quite soft. The bathroom footmat is velvety and hard to dry causing smell again .Dislike it.

The space is ok for my twin bed room.

I don’t think I will visit it again.

Budget hotel. Not very spacious rooms, very small washroom , good connectivity to indian restaurant and Mrt. Room :- 2/5 , location – 4/5, view :- 1/5 , value for money :- 3/5. Air conditioning is centralised so you have to call customer care everytime you need to change the temperature, which was bit odd. Nearest MRT is rochers , mustafa centre is 1 km from this place.

Great location close to MRT station and little india. I and my boyfriend were stayed on November 2019 for 1night only. We were welomed by friendly receptionist. The room was standard, clean and tidy. However, it was annoyed us since we could heard noise from outside/someone talking or walking from hallway. No welcome drink, no restaurant for breakfast. It was unworthy compared to the price I pay

Stayed at this hotel from 16-18 July 2018. The location of the hotel is good, has lot of eating joints nearby. The hotel staff is very rude and arrogant, they don’t reply your query with a smile….it looks like they are in the wrong profession of hospitality.
The rooms are too small, AC doesn’t work properly and even after complaining to the staff it doesn’t helps.
If you request room service boy to come after 15 minutes to clean the room as we were about to leave…he says “I’ll be busy after that..and won’t be able to clean the room”. What a fantastic reply if you are working in the service Industry.
To the people looking forward to stay here …kindly look for better accommodation as plenty of good options in this area.
for me DICKSON HOTEL goes for 1 OUT OF 5.
    thanks.

The hotel is clean & staffs are all accomodating. The room is too small far from the pictures shown on the booking sites. No blanket or comforter. Im not satisfied with my stay here. Good thing I only booked 2 nights. Planning to transfer to other hotels on my 3 days left here in Singapore.

This hotel has a weird standard in making up room, they don’t really make up your room, only put clean towel and mineral water on your bed, overall cleanliness also not very good, surprise that to this hotel receive sg cleanliness certificate

Toiletries are not in good condition but staff is polite… Rooms are small…… Only deluxe room has window…. Toilet are paper based only… No Indian system….toilet have hot water supply… Hot water can be taken on the interval of 5-10 mins… . Cleaning is good… Basic need hotel only.. One baath room and one very small room….. Remember window is provided only in deluxe room. And fridge is also provided only in deluxe room……… Bring your own tooth brush and tooth paste….

Location is very good and being close to Little India I liked it. I took a three bed room. It is small only thing you have is 3 bed. The first day was fine and then my children started to have bed bugs for next 2 days. My advice beware of bed bugs otherwise rest is good.

Great location in little india. Neighborhood very lively and authentic. Hotel close to 2 metro stops and walking distance to many attractions. Rooms were on the small size with no separate shower from the bathroom. A lot of rooms have no windows and you can’t control the a/c, you have to ask the front desk to change the temperature. Overall good if you can find a good deal on the price, if not there are probably nicer hotels in the area.

The Deluxe room was clean and well maintained. They cleaned the room and made the bed every day, toilet was also cleaned and dried every day. Towels were provided, so also tea/coffee packs. No restaurant, but no issues as we had very good indian restaurants close by… being vegetarians we wanted only veg restaurants… Woodlands, Komal Vilas and Anand Bhavan are good and very close. MRT is also close by. you can get taxis also, bus stoop is also close by. MUSTAPHA , 24×7 department store is close by. Excellent and helpful staff… so do not hesitate to stay if your budget suits their tariff…

Great location, near bus stop, MRT jalan besar and many local restaurants. The room is not too big but ok for 2 persons. They also have water dispenser near the lift so u can refill ur water bottle. U can go to airport with grab cost around 20sgd for 40 mins. Even we can walk to Haji Lane or Bugis area for 15-20 mins from the hotel

Service is pretty good for the price. Everything is pretty clean. Bathrooms could be better. Shower water tends to spray out under the bathroom door. Beds aren’t good though. Seems to be some kind of waterproof mattress. The sheets just slide on it too much to be comfortable.

Budget hotel with small rooms. Service from staff is very basic. Basic amenities include only Towel and a toothbrush! One of the Cleaning staff was very rude. No safe deposit box in the room. They have a guest safety box in reception which is not useful. Only one 500ml water bottle was given.

Only acceptable if you’re staying for one night. The room is clean, but the space is very limited. The bathroom is very small too and no separated shower area. An additional set of tower in smaller size woulda been nice. The AC works on and off so the temperature is not stable. After all, it’s only a budget hotel. The plus is location and friendly staff at front desk.

This hotel is perfect for business activities since it close to the famous shopping mall such as Mustafa Center, offices, markets, MRT station in little India area of Singapore. Restaurants with various kind of foods are around of this hotel with very reasonable price. Easy to find HALAL food especially for Moslem People with walking distance less than 10 minutes.

Very nice hotel for tourist. Staff is co operative. Location is best as there are three metro stations nearby of three different routes. Jalan Baser, Little India and Rocher. Indian restaurants are available in plenty. Most important is Al Ghafoor Mosque is just next lane to the hotel. Its historical and beautiful mosque with arrangement for Muslim women to pray.

The main usp of this hotel is its terrific location as it is located in heart of Singapore city, almost close to all major tourist destinations which are popular for sight seeing. It is located at a walking distance from multiple MRT stations where closest one is Jalan Besar MRT hardly at walking distance of 200m which will definitely help to save lot of time for travellers. Also myriad options of Indian restaurants are located nearby.

Most of the rooms do not have a window (about 2/3 of the rooms), which is a bummer. The hotel and rooms are air conditioned, rooms are quite small and more or less clean. The overall smell is a bit funky. The hotel staff is helpful.
The hotel is located in little India. The location is good to get to the city center or Bugis market. Close by are many restaurants and convenience shops.

I stay here with my sons for 5 nights on June 22-28, 2016. The Hotel 81 Dicson is a very good location hotel, near ROCHOR MRT, and near the Chinesse Economical Curry Rice Restaurant, the price is SGD 3-5. There is a Yong Kee Seafood Restaurant, the price of noodle is SGD 4 – SGD 6,5.
The lobby room is clean and very comfortable. I smell fresh and fragrance perfume of air freshener in front of the lobby.
I got early check in at 12.18pm…., thank you Mr. Robby . It is very easy to check in at this hotel, because there is no deposit money for the key guaranty. Then, I enter my room. My room is small but it is a clean and tidy room. There is hot and cold shower in the bath room. There is an electric kettle to boil water, and hair dryer in my room. The Wifi conection is very good. I get two pieces of new clean towel everyday for standart double room. I am very satisfied stay at this hotel.
I wish ….. next time I will be come back to S’pore to stay here again….

One of the worse hotel experiences. The hotel was not clean, some dust or hair are all over the floor, some in bed sheet and toilet. The bed sheet and towel were broken that should have been changed. The toilet/shower not in good condition, many broken parts. The AC duct was full of dirt. The hotel should pay attention to renovating the place and the cleanliness. The room was quite different from the picture and the price we paid was pretty much for this condition eventhhough it was a busy time. Yet could have find similar price level with better hotel conditions.

A good place to rest your head for the night, situated next to Singapore’s Little India. Finding a place to eat is never a problem. As most of the restaurants in the area are opened 24/7. Has all the amenities needed for a backpacking trip or even with the family. Comfortable beds, and hot showers what more could you ask for in a budget hotel.

Hotel location is very convenient and service also good, baggage racks available for late and early visiting customers, electronic safe available in every room, cleanliness is above expectations, rooms are very big and equipped with required basic tools like coffee heater, hair dryer, big screen with tv(3 Indian Channels available) etc.

Near public transit, the train station & the airport• it is near the city center; shopping & sightseeing nearby. Also near the Rochor metro to go everywhere. We appreciate the friendly, professional staff. The lobby is very wonderful. Fare is comparatively low than many 2 star hotels. Management & housekeeping could be improved since the rooms are old and dated and that maintenance could be improved.

Rooms are fine (but isn’t what we are paying for?) Location ok, we didn’t use MRT, cabs about $12 to anywhere we needed to be.
Hotel is SUPER NOISY, out of control , Indian families book 4-7 rooms on the floor and keep walking between them, slamming doors, talking loud, every 3-10 min all till 1am and starting at 6.30am, so you won’t get any sleep whatsoever. Hotel staff is not helpful with this issue, there is no quite hours introduced, at the end of the day it’s a normal request to be able to sleep at night in the hotel you paid for.

A hotel with so many rooms in it. Pictures online tell a totally different story. We were there for 3 nights and whole family got sick due to centralized AC and the fact that you were not able to open the window as it was permanantly locked. The bathroom was just fine. This is a two star hotel in a hot spot. The place is 5min walk from the Japan bazar blue line station. Bus station and little India is very close as well. Which are plus points for the hotel. The hotel washroom is so small, no shower cubical, no bidder shower and you cannot even turn around. Better to take your shampoo with you as there is only one soap solution for body and hair washing. Tooth brushes were provided by the hotel. They give instant tea and coffee packs but they were not that good. The water they provide was also not very good in quality and had a different pH. There is a locker and a small cupboard. Staff is not bothering you at all there for it is easy. They clean the room daily. Overall a budget hotel and worth the price

Located adjacent to sim lim tower and at walkable distance from Mustafa, the hotel has decent facilities. It is usually fully booked during tourist season. The room rates are slightly on higher side for a 2 star hotel, but the location makes up for it. The check in time is 2pm and check out time is 11am, with late charges per hour delay while checking out. Overall the hotel is decent and you get what you pay for.

Situated in heart near little India. Be aware that it’s a budget hotel . The rooms you’d get for lowest price will be claustrophobic as they won’t have any windows, so book the ones which are higher cost. That way you get a window in the room and it would make a hell lot of difference.

Definitely a “get what you pay for” kind of place. tiny rooms. cleanliness sub standard. dust, hairs, dirt over all surfaces when first took room. marginal improvement for the remaining days after complaining. a/c literally blows ice cold all the time, can’t adjust it. paper thin walls, bring ear plugs. tv was worn out, didn’t work properly. staff were friendly and helpful enough. baggage storage on premises. near MRT stations, convenient location. located basically in little india.

This is a budget hotels. For a budget hotel this very good. Rooms have two bed or three beds. Luggage rack is available at lobby. Internet computers are also available at lobby. Hotel only provides the towels and tooth brush with tooth past. Hotel provided one type of shampoo for body wash and hair. It is available on dispenser mounted in the bathroom. If need an iron, you need to call the front desk and ask them to send the iron and the ironing board. Lot of restaurants are available around the hotel. Therefore the meals would not be an issues. Visitors are not allow to go to rooms unless they have passports. If you have visitors, you will have to meet them at the lobby. Since most of the rooms don’t have windows, make sure to keep the alarm if you want get up early as the sun light will not wake you up. Most of the shopping moles and the station is in walking distance, including the famous musthafa shopping center.

Escape this place if you can. Rooms smell cigarette or dampness, most rooms don’t have windows and not airing and your clothes will be ALWAYS wet (because of the weather), no laundry or food service, amount of time electricity sockets not enough, table in the room super small and places to store your things not enough. Probably one of the worst hotels I’ve stayed at for the price. If it was $20-$30/night then it would be ok but I paid $300 for 4 nights. I am not picky when it comes to hotels but was surprised at the following:

-Room is small, no windows, quite dirty and old.
-There is a thermostat in the room but can only be controlled by front desk – you need to call them each time you want change it.
-They still use keys and not cards to the rooms.
-The shower only has enough water for one person at a time. I was told the next person needs to wait at least 10 mins.
-I was able to hear people from the whole surrounding floor so if you are a light sleeper, the walls are paper thin.

Location is pretty good to MRT and if you aren’t in the room much, it should suffice.

Rooms are comfy for the rate and location relatively close to sites, but where to begin with the guest. The place is located in little India, so don’t expect to get much sleep as they normally travel as a pack, 6 to 12 of them and they have three to four rooms each playing musical rooms the whole night doors slamming open and closing yelling back and forth it’s pure chaos and just when you think it’s over between 1 or 2 am and you’ll be able to sleep in. Think again because they all wake up and start the whole thing all over again at 7 am. If left with no other options this place but will not be returning anytime soon. Added note little India stops selling all liquors at 7pm on weekends.

The stay should be fine for most tourists as you’ll just be spending the night at hotel, exploring all day. At least that’s what I did. The rooms are cozy with minimal required amenities. But I think the rooms are too expensive considering having it booked long ago and that too in off-season. Best part is the location in little India, you can walk down all through little India and also MRT and bus stations are nearby. I think this is one of the cheapest options you can find in Singapore if you compare it to other hotels. It’ll not be a budget option for general Travellers but definitely a good option among all.

I wanted to stay at this hotel because the rooms were decently better than than the surrounding hotels and hostels. The reception was friendly as well and helped me with my inquiries. However, the lobby looked extremely unprofessional with all the boxes strewn everywhere. Men were also packing items into the boxes like some kind of shop house. Their items laid out on the sofa so much so that other people were not able to take a seat. The noise from their tape was utterly annoying.

Apparently these men always do this despite the disapproval of the staff members and there’s nothing they can do it about it. These men are not even charged for storing their items here! This is unacceptable! Upper management should do something about this! It makes your hotel look absolutely unprofessional and destroys the decent outlook of the lobby. Hopefully the next time I come back they’ll have fixed this issue.

I loved our stay in Hotel 81, the hotel is located in a cross section between Jalan Besar MRT and Rochor MRT which are at walk away distance. One can easily stroll to the lanes of Little India/Mustafa Center that is less than a km away for a quick bite. While, quite a few Indian and Chinese eateries dot the alley leading up to the hotel. One can easily walk up to Arab street (Sultan Mosque area) and Bugis street market.

As far as room is concerned, its quick compact and spacious enough for a couple. We rented one without window and were quite nervous checking in thinking about claustrophobia and congestion. However, our fears were totally dispelled once we moved in.
It was a wonderful stay with a very supportive and professional staff who aided us throughout our stay. Finally, contrary to people’s opinions, I found the washroom quite fine with hot warm water gushing in 24*7. It may not be big but quite enough to fit any large man. The beds, cleaning protocols all are very satisfactory.

Would strongly recommend anyone looking for a decent/family friendly, sanitized stay in a superbly connected area for a comfortable good night sleep.

The hotel staff let us check in early. This hotel was cheap relative to the other hotels in the area (Singapore is expensive in general).

Bedsheets had pink stains and black spots. No windows. The whole place had a weird smell. Hotel staff were reluctant to give us another bottle of water when we asked. The washroom was tiny with no separation between toilet and shower – I’ve seen this in other Asian hotels but the washrooms were big enough that no separation was fine.

Good hotel with cheap price. Better to book through online agent which is cheaper than published rate. Water boiler and hair dryer is available in the room but no refrigerator available. Hotel is clean and very quiet, good for rest. Hot water available. Wi-Fi is fast. They provide public computer for free of you need to search information from internet. Location is in the very near to mrt.

It was our first time staying in the hotel in Singapore since we came for transit only. My review for Dickson 81 hotel overall was good the staff are super friendly, helpful they let us checked in early at 11 am, The Room is clean and the location of the hotel is great located in between Bugis and Little India MRT Station.

Best place to relax when you are back from attractions in Singapore and feel like home with Little India. Walkable to nearby MRT. Staffs at the reception were KIND. The total experience depends largely on your neighbours as walls are thin and cement flooring means every sound is amplified. Neighbours can be noisy.

Best location in budget, it was in walking distance to Rochor MRT and Jalan besar MRT,
Walking distance to Musthafa , Little India and Bugis shopping centre.
Restaurants which were operational 24 hrs. was very nearby.
Rooms were ok, cleanliness was also Ok..
Hair dryer, coffee, tea mix, kettle were available.
Bathroom has 24 hours hot water facility.
    Bathrooms stink sometimes.
Overall a good experience because we used the room just at night to sleep, the rest of the time we were travelling around.

    How to reach :
    Reach Terminal 1/3 Airport MRT
Take the MRT to Tana Merah get down and switch to Green line and get down in Bugis ( Don’t tap out )”ask for help, you have to walk a bit “switch to (blue line )Downtown line and get down in Rochor MRT.

Take a MRT map from the station it is very useful.
Tap out and walk to the exit of Perak street.
Walk straight in perak street until you see Al- Bismi restaurant take right and you will reach Hotel 81 Dickson.

Small rooms, with no windows or balconies!
Sufficient for travellers to crash at night. Staff are good too.

Location is great! As it is 10mins away from the popular Mustafa Mall and 2mins from the metro station (MRT) and bus.

I wish there was a little more storage space like a shelf or two, and a small night light, as the rooms turns pitch black at night as there are no windows.

No in-house restaurant, but sufficient places nearby for meals.

Bad experience, not recommended. Room dirty, bathroom with mould. Poor sleep quality. Very small room with no window. Overpriced for what it offers. The only positive aspect is the proximity with the Metro station. But the street is dirty and unpleasant.

The hotel lobby smells very damp and looks dirty. the rooms were small and did not look very clean. One day we returned to the hotel in our room we saw cockroaches in bed. We could not sleep for fear of seeing another.
It is well located in small India. the subway station is 3 minutes away and if you find many places where they sell mostly indu type food.

Rude receptionist. The second day when we come back to the room the door was unlock, and our luggages all inside. Told receptionist about this, she not even apologize, only say will inform the cleaner to be careful, like leaving the door unlock with guests’ luggages inside is a common things.

It’s great value for the price. The wall is super thin though you can hear the neighbors like you are in a living room of their house! Tiny bugs x 20 of them in room but I’ve seen similar bugs in the other tropical country hotel rooms too I think it’s not rare thing.

The hotel’s location is strategic, located close to Jalan Besar MRT and Little India. As a budget hotel in Singapore, do not expect too much. The place is clean but I saw ants in the bathroom. It provides hot water and air conditioning. Overall stay is not bad but well.. acceptable.

The services are nice. If you stay more than a night, your room will be cleaned every morning by the room service without even asking for it so the pillow and the bed would be clean when you get back from a trip in the end of the day. Extra mineral water also given each day. The lobby is nice and cozy you could bring your guest and talk here. The bathroom is excellent not too big and not too small just clean. It was a good experience after staying here. Thankyou so much.

We stayed here for 5 Nights. The big plus is the location 3 minutes to the MRT station and there is a bus stop just opposite the street. Some popular Indian restaurants nearby and there is one 7 eleven also. As Singapore is costly so you can not ask for more at this price. So, overall a decent budget friendly hotel.

Nice location. Near to 2 MRT stops, jalan besar and Rochot. It is also near to mustafa center, haji lane, little india. If you are rice maniac, it should be the best place to stay as there are lots of restaurants serve rice meal.

The room condition is okay, but i dont like the bathroom floor. It is too slipery and they did not provide mat in the bathroom.

The room don’t cleanup properly, lots of hair on the floor. I asked the receptionist and housekeeping to clean up again but they never come.

Lamp at bathroom off, so it’s quite dark.

The positif point only, lot of halal meals around here.

    1) there is 1 bottle of mineral water in the room. I asked for 2more bottles & was informed the 3rd bottle cost $2.
    2) it was the last room that I got but I didn’t expect the room to be so dusty. U can clearly see dust on the kettle & telephone as though the room was vacant for months.
    3) the moment I opened the door, I could smell wood. I thought it is due to the old building structure. However when I opened the bathroom door, I could smell the humidity & realised that the “wood” smell in the room is the high humid smell.
    4) the bathroom ventilation is not working.
    5) when the shower hose is hang onto the wall, the water spray towards the wall behind. U can never shower with the hose on the wall, u hav to handheld it to shower.
    6) the room is on the first floor, the very 1st room near the reception. U can hear people talking throughout the night. Not recommended for light sleeper.
    7) only have local tv show. No YouTube
    8) I will never check into this hotel again.

Good budget hotel. It is easily noticeable from outside. It is situated in little india so we can easily get indian food, rooms are small but good. Staff is cooperative. MRT station is also at walkable distance like National museum is around 600m, marina bay sands 3km. MRT station is very near so traveling is not a problem.

Downside is that rooms are too small, cleanliness can be improved. Water was coming from the wall. No room service. We asked for water bottle they told hotel provide one water per room per day. We have to buy water bottle.

Even though the room that we stayed was small, it was very clean and tidy. Charges were cheap and reliable comparing to other hotels in singapore. The place that the hotel was situated, “Dickson street” was excellent for travelling purposes. MRT station was just less than 1 miniute walk, from the hotel. I recommend this hotel for the people who travells on a buddget although the hotel 81 chain does not belong to a buddget carrier.

Well this hotel would definitely win the Photoshop of the year award as the reality doesn’t match the pictures….but it’s not going to win the cleanliness award as it’s filthy .. a proper little dive …furniture damaged..I don’t just mean scratched and worn I mean broken the front of the bedside cabinet door has been ripped off and is resting against the wall ..the extraction in the shower doesn’t switch off and howls like a 747 on take off…had to buy some earplugs it’s that bad and it’s filthy like everything else … thankfully only stopping here a couple of nights and won’t be sorry to check out … I’ve had to give it one star unfortunately as Google sees that as the minimum… personally I feel the scale should include minus for hotels like this !!
If your looking to stay in Singapore just give this place a miss !!

We 4 members and our group 13 members stayed in this hotel for five days. All staffs are polite except some senior staffs. Check in completed within 10 minutes for us and for our group members it took around 30 minutes. Dust bin was not cleaned when we entered into the room. They provide only provide one 500 ml water bottle for two people, if we want extra water they ask us to fill it from water dispenser it would be better if they provide two water bottles daily. They are not providing instant coffee packs daily they are providing only when we ask them.

    Pros:
Near to Little India and Rocher MRT
Rooms, toilets and bathrooms cleaned daily.
Towels and bed sheets are changed daily.
Free Wi-Fi available with good signal strength.
Two desktops available for browsing in the reception area.
    Hair dryer and kettle available.

    Cons:
Toilets and bathrooms are small which make it mess.
    Health faucet is not available.
    Rooms has no windows.
Complementary instant coffee and toiletries are not provided properly.

    Tip:
This hotel has smoking and non-smoking rooms. Make sure to book non-smoking room if you are non-smoker else you will get smoking smell in the room.

-rude front desk worker(budget hotel yet don’t allowed friend to visit our room)
-the room smell bad, probably from the water leakage.

Hotel not far from the city center and close to the MRT. However the quality of this hotel is poor. The room are noisy. Every morning, we were waken up the morning by the call to Muslim prayer. It is not possible to cut off the air conditionning that leaked during our stay. The toilet is very closed to the shower. And there was no window in the room. Great access to public transit with two mrt stations at walking distances . Even Mustafa shopping centre is at 15-20 mins of walk . Cooperative staff and Indian food options available . But the neighborhood is messy . Just like a typical Indian street . If you can spend more then look at other options . Otherwise it’s a fair deal at the cost that the hotel offers .
