I have stayed at this hotel with my family on16th Oct 2022 to 19 Oct 2022. Hotel location is very good and near Shopping Mall and hospital. Hotel is clean and good service so I intended to stay next my trip and I will recommand my friends to stay this hotel.
I would like to commend the Team at Holiday Inn Express Singapore Orchard Road for making my QO experience a great one!
The service provided by both the staff handling the QO related matters, as well as front desk reception for any hotel related services, were really good. All requests made were handled and attended to promptly.
I had no dietary requirements initially, but upon noticing that I could do without the packet drinks provided, and not wanting to have to trouble the staff to put in the sudden request, I simply left a note at the door instead so they could save the drinks for others instead of wasting them if they happened to notice while dropping off my meals.
To my surprise, not only did they take note of the details, they also subsequently made a note on all my meals (on the bag itself for that matter) that no packet drinks were required. And to top that off, they replaced the packet drinks with bottles of water instead of not providing any drinks at all.
The room was clean and comfortable for 1 pax, and I also like that they were able to provide laundry services, as well as a change of linens when required.
Appreciate the efforts of the team, and thank you for providing the service that you would for a typical hotel guest. Stay safe, and thank you!
A decent well located hotel. The rooms are bright and clean and comfortable and in good condition. The breakfast room was crazy in the morning, it is not big enough compared to the hotel and at the peak hours was just not an enjoyable experience. First impression was the room was dirty, the main switch light had blood splattered, got hair stuck in between towels, lipstick mark on the coffee mug, stain marks on the bed sheet, room was heavy with dust, and worst of all?
Promise not kept. I rang the hotel before booking if the hotel is willing to put plywood board underneath the mattress (normally to give more support), the receptionist said YES. i put this condition in writing too at the time of booking, and when i checked in at the hotel, receptionist also said YES. I kept asking for it, after a week of keep asking, finally the Cleaning Manager admitted the hotel never has one and does not intend to buy one. Ever. Hmmm how convenient… For those who has back problem and need hard support, please take a note.
Another thing was this particular receptionist. This one was really badly need training, both general Singapore information and major hotel fees or charges. How can he refer food poisoning issue to Ministry of Health instead of Singapore Food Agency? This is a basic knowledge for common Singaporean, let alone someone who stand behind a global major hotel chain’s desk. About the fees, if you dont know or in doubt, it is better to say 1. “i dont know” or 2. “let me ask my colleague”. Especially about hotel charges, it is not fair to say one thing but do another. Lastly, about his parcel delivery management, when it is CLEARLY SHOWN YOUR GUEST NAME and the RIGHT ROOM NUMBER printed on it that means it belongs to YOUR SPECIFIC GUEST. Your guest does not need to show evidents whatsoever.
Also the hotel offers laundry machine facility which guests has to operate themselves. Facilities also need to be maintained. Noone wants to use a dirty gym or broken fitness machine. This applies to laundry machines as they dont self cleaned or self fixed. More responsibility if you ask your guest to pay for them. i found it the hard way. My clothes got the dirty black mark and i decided to put towels to protect my clothes.
Now breakfast, i would say for one or two nighters, if it was included at the deal, keep it. But for long stayers, just skip it. Very basic variety, below standard taste and quality, awful coffee, and some of the wait staff, they speak minimum english and need food preparation training too. I asked one of them to reheat my burger, what she did was put the burger, the plastic and paper wrapper, all of them in the microwave!!! Speechless…
One last beef was this one security guy. He didnt help guest with their luggages but always talk arrogantly to taxi drivers like he owns the hotel. He seems to maintain traffic control, yet he uses rude tone to taxi drivers.
Overall, accomodation is half the experience for your holiday and very important to me as we spend a minimum 7-8 hours to sleep and another hour to shower, watch TV, pack luggages, eat snacks, etc. Imagine you waste 1/3 of your holiday money and time on inferior and low value product. I felt like my 3 weeks Singapore is robbed, but thats fine, so my readers dont have to.

This hotel is currently use as quarantine zone and my client requested me to deliver his purchase to the hotel lobby. The security staff is freaking rude and uncooperative when I request to have a trolley from the hotel to place the heavy bulk (above 25 kg) so that they can handle easily. The security staff insisted I carry in right at the door step and I as a female have to unload from my car and hand carry in up their stipulated point.
The two lobby staffs just seat and watch.
When I feedback to my client who is currently residing there, he too also experienced the rudeness of this security man and the hotel staffs.
Such a shame of our local hotel with this low level of hospitality.

Right smack in the Orchard rd shopping district makes this a convenient place to stay if you are in Singapore for a shopping trip. Room (double single beds) are on the small size but its the location that makes it great. Just a super short walk to Paragon mall and towards Ngee Ann City.
Eventhough the overall size of the room is on the small side for Asian standard, the efficient bathroom design helps to make the room comfortable and feel more spacious than it is.

Bathroom is badly designed with disfunctional shower door. Vanity countertop is unusually low than normal (+/- 30cm lower) so I have to bend down to wash my hands and it hurts my back. Small space. Sink water tap sprays everywhere unless it’s running slowly.
Breakfast is free but quality is really bad. This is shocking considering Singapore is famous for its food.
Very noisy as I can hear other room doors slamming throughout the night, and water running loudly in the wee hours, and people talking next door.

The door either close for the shower area or the entire bathroom. If u close for the shower area, it means the toilet bowl area is exposed. I really enjoy my four nights stay. The hotel room is not that big but enough for two people, but the important thing is the room is very comfy. They have two types of pillow, soft & firm. Make no mistake that this hotel is basic, at best. I chose it for the central location, which gets 5 stars, as we had not been in Singapore for 18 years. Breakfast was disappointing, tasteless and unhealthy and it was a fight with the masses to get a table. A few of the front desk team were great (eg Gerald). Had a peculiar exchange with a young lady at the desk before we departed yesterday for the UK. I asked if the hotel had an airport shuttle.. instead of just answering the question and saying “no”, her subsequent remarks suggested I was after a free ride and she actually said “I would suggest you call a cab yourself” – as if this wasn’t obvious. Disappointing for sure.

We previously stayed at this property prior to the covid pandemic over two years ago and have always thoroughly enjoyed our stay here, This time we stayed 10 days and have to thank so many staff here that made our stay so pleasant. From the front desk to Michelle ( Mika ) and Patrick who would because of one enquiry we made and from then onwards would greet us with our names each time we meet. To the kitchen staff with the wonderful breakfast spread each morning, the head chef Ram who would make sure everything is in order and greet guests each morning. Wanted eggs cooked different from the menu and he would gladly obliged one morning, to all his team particularly to Wang who exudes great personality and so happy each morning clearing the plates and making sure we were satisfied with the breakfast. Finally to the housekeeping team on our level ( Tina ) who would ensure we were comfortable in our rooms. Being an IHG Gold Elite member since 2011, being treated so well by all hotels under this banner ensures members keep coming back.

We stayed for 5 days. We got wet the first day and realized that even after 4 days my sock hadn’t dried. This was because the room was virtually sealed and had no ventilation. I too ended up with a cough and phlegm and had to take treatment at Mount Elizabeth Hospital- A&E section.
