Only one of the few delicous comfort food you can find in the area in the middle of the night. Not really salty like how others commented but maybe they had it with steamed rice instead of porridge.

Teochew-style cuisine tastes good. But the porridge is a failure. The rice grains are rough and dry. The rice is not like rice porridge.

Rather pricey Teochew porridge that is better shared than having alone. Porridge quality lacks the oomph compared to other Yeow chew porridge places.

Dishes – good variety with some non typical Teochew dishes

    Fish – very average

    Total cost $33.80.

Porridge had a great consistency between gooey and watery.

    1. Pork Belly was tender, chewy and have melt in the mouth fats.

    2. Pork intestine was soft, succulent and cleaned thoroughly without the pungent taste.

    3. Fresh Blood Cockle was awesomely drenched in soya saucey and chilli padi to add some spice.

    4. Brinjal was slimy, soft and covered in tasty dark soya.

    5. Duck apparently was quite normal, meat was not that soft enough.

    6. Stir fry hairy gourd with tang hoon and egg was great, crunchy and tasty.

    7. Hae Bee Hiam so-so, seems to lack spiciness and taste a bit weird.

    8. Meat with salted egg was kind of standard. Nothing special.

It is also full of family style, and I am a frequent visitor there. Because if you eat there, you can eat a lot of side dishes at one time, but it is impossible to do it at home. It is inconvenient that you have to wait for a seat every time you go.

This is a very heartland place which is not exactly that convenient to get to but if you drive, it is pretty distinct. Food is very nice (hence the 4 stars, short of 1 for the location and seating as it is always very crowded during meal times). If you don’t order much meats or innards, it is really cheap. They will give you a free bowl of braised meats gravy if you ask for it and my favourite dish is the large intestine which I thought they did a good job cleaning it up and the gravy is nice and well absorbed into the intestine. Very good variety and opens till late. It can be pretty warm if you sit inside but nearer the road will be cooler. Do get a seat before you order as the food can come quite fast once it gets to your turn.

Just eaten at 1pm today on Saturday 3 sept! The porridge is so hard so, disappointed because Heng Long is about Teochew porridge so, very bad consistency! It’s the same the last time we came so, we stopped coming for a long time, hoping that can boil the porridge properly with the same standard as other Heng Long like Tanjong Katong branch. Please improve because we used to come here very often every week.

I frequent this place almost every time when we wanted to eat Teochew porridge when we use to stay in Tampines before Dec 2018.
On Sep 6, after my church service at SHPS, my hubby suggested here for lunch.

And my daughter who knew we were here said she wanted us to pack porridge and her favorite side dishes back for her lunch. It goes to show she really missed this place.
