This place probably has one of the best naengmyeon in Singapore.
I’m an avid amateur of this cool buckwheat noodles korean dish and have tried a few in SG.
So far, they have one of the best broth, with the right tangyness and perfect amount of ingredients with fresh and crunchy korean pears.

Price is on a high side considering the portion but their soy bean soup and ginseng chicken are so good that I keep going back for more. They are very generous with side dishes too. Sadly the barley is no longer free. Kimchi soup has a different taste than what other restaurants offer and my bf loves it.
Reccomend: soy bean paste soup, ginseng chicken, spicy beef soup, seafood pancake

Decided to try this Korean restaurant out in Heartland Mall since there isn’t many Korean food sold around Hougang-Kovan area. The weekdays lunch set was amazing in terms of price, taste and the value. Spicy pork squid hotplate set ($12.80++) comes with rice, banchan (Korean small dishes) and barley tea!!! My fav small dishes would be the kimchi, potato salad and the mushrooms. Meanwhile the spicy pork was very juicy, soft and flavorful! On top of that you can refill the banchan as much as you want. Service was excellent too. Overall, great experience and would definitely go back again since I live nearby.

Visited the restaurant during dinner. There was a crowd but since the queue was reasonable, the waiting time to get a table was quite reasonable too.
The sides were served first, and it was amazing that the the sides were refillable. The kimchi stew was quite huge and the soup was refillable too! The seafood pancake was really delicious and it was packed with flavour.
Overall, a great dining experience with friendly staff!

Average taste and the price doesn’t match the portion given.

Really hate the part they cook bbq in the dining area yet there is no proper ventilation (unlike the other Korean restaurant would have the pipes suck the greasy smoke out). My family ended up “eating” more smoke than food specially since we didn’t even order bbq ourselves but the staff was cooking at this temporary looking station right next to us.

    Won’t return in the future.

Given their location and portion size, it’s expensive!

The side dishes were disappointing, kimchi is not well marinated. It’s very bland and tasteless.

Ordered the bbq meat – green tea pork belly! Interesting & refreshing!

Unfortunately I won’t be back. There are plenty better options elsewhere.

Edit: Reducing my 5 star review to a 4 star one as the restaurant is now charging for each glass of tap water. Once complimentary, the barley teas are now also chargeable.

Reasonable prices and tasty kimchi fried rice and pork bulgogi. Yum!

Hansik is our family’s go-to comfort food. Authentic Korean food, delicious and good quality. The place is never empty, more often than not, there will be a queue of diners willing to wait just to get seats. Our favorite dishes include jjampong, kimchi stew with pork, beef bulgogi and cheese ramen. The side dishes can top-up for free.

Reviewing based on set lunch experience.
Ordered the squid & pork BBQ ($13) and beef soup ($14). The beef soup bring me back to Korea! It’s so hard to find decent korea beef soup most of those I tried have so so taste and stiff beef. The beef is very tender and the other ingredients in soup are also in generous serving.

The BBQ is normal tasting for Korea restaurant standard.

Side dish is normal however kimchee is good. Not overly sour and the chilli is thick and sweet

Update: visited again with family 5pax. But banchan portion same as one or 2pax. They could have provided 2sets so need not keep refilling. Also the beef soup is not as flavorsome as previous visit. Note the shop does not provide free water or barley tea like some others and neither do they provide tissue. Bring your own tissue

Perhaps the chef changed but Hansik was an absolute disappointment, in terms of food and service. Ordered hot tea, tea not hot, asked them and they said no more hot tea?? Ordered tofu clam, not salty rather bland; came without rice because rice was not cooked. Ordered bbq pork, quality was alright but came without lettuce or samjjang, had to ask which is fine but odd. Ginseng chicken, hoping for hope it could be good because everyone recommended.. But it was salty and buttery, absolutely not how Korean ginseng chicken is supposed to be. Its not bad, hence 2 stars, but its not worth the price for me. Sad.

Saw a lot of good reviews, so not sure why my experience turned out poor. BBQ items were good. Also had a spicy tofu soup that tasted horrible with obviously not fresh seafood, very salty glass noodle, and bland pancake (it’s red, just not sure where’s the kimchi). Asked for spicy sauce and got a confused reluctant look from the male waiter. Tried to get more garlic from a female waitress but was simply brushed off. To be fair they were quite busy, so no blame on the servers I guess. Pretty sure I’ve had much better Korean food at similar price point. Perhaps the chef was having a bad day, but definitely no going back for me.

Better than decent authentic Korean food comparable to many more established outlets around the island. Price is a steep and very disappointed with the portion; small soup bowl and hardly any meat. Will try again only if I am in the area and dying for Korean food. If not, I better off having Korean food where I know good all around.

They have korean cold noodle in an affordable price. It was a impromptu date but we managed to solved my cold noodle craving.

The taste was the same as I had in South Korea. The pear inside were crunchy and juicy. The soup base was rich in favor. It went well with mustard and vinegar.

The side dishes were all very good and they are refillable. I finished the spinach two rounds and felt embarrassed to ask for more refill lol. Overall it was a great meal and I would come again.

Went for dinner on a Friday night.
Walked in and queued for about 20mins.
Service was good, once seated all the side dish and plates and water was on the table already. Dishes was served fairly fast. Simple authentic Korean food, felt homely kind of food. Attached pictures for references. The tofu stew and Korean kimchi pancake was ok only thou 4/5, as I would prefer a heavier taste. Overall great place at a heartland area for Korean food, rather than commercial Korean style food.

Happen to pop in for a Sunday lunch as crowd is kicking in everywhere else. The Korean lady boss greeted me and got me seated.

Many came here for the bbq ( the staff was seen helping with the bbq) but I’d ordered the ala carte dishes. It came with refillable side dishes but it took me awhile to get attention of an available staff and maybe coz the side dishes has been over refilled by most customers , the staff kinda seem upset doing the refills. As she stomps to our table and left it at the extreme edge of the table. My mum and I jus stared at each other. Maybe it’s not her day today..

The main course were in decent size and tasty but just don’t think it’s worth it for the price. Sgd 18+ for beef noodle soup, sgd16+ for seafood glass noodles, sgd 19+ grilled salmon with rice (maybe worth it coz of the portion) Citron tea sgd 3.50+. Spent about close to 65 sgd lunch for two.

Maybe I’ll try it again if it comes with special lunch set or if they have accumulated discounts collaboration with grab pay/ shop back. I remember trying their bbq and was well garlic marinated. Till next time!

Decent Korean place located on second floor of Heartland Mall. It’s quite pricey given its location and portion. We ordered ginseng chicken soup and kimchi pancake.

Ginseng chicken soup ($18) was a hearty, flavourful chicken soup, BUT you can’t taste the ginseng at all. Kimchi pancake ($16) was disappointing. There’s a banchan dish that stood out, which was this creamy white seaweed dish. Super yummy and addictive! Oh, and you have to pay $1.80 for barley tea.

Place is quite packed so do buffer in a bit of waiting time around peak hours.

I was craving for spicy stir fry pork, came all the way over with the family. The flavor was good, portion was great. However the pork slices were super TOUGH with small bits of fatty parts.. our jaws were aching after dinner from the hard chewing..

Food is great and authentic. Somewhat pricey. Food served pretty quickly despite lunch hour. The samgyeopsal tasted a little porky. The samgyetang was very flavourful. One negative note was the cloth used to clean the table, which stinks, so the table had a bad stench. We told the staff but nothing was done, so we wiped the table with our own sanitiser to get rid of the stench.

My wife and I are fans of Korean food and she particularly loves her bibimbap. Glad to say that she’s pretty satisfied with this one, along with their other offerings. I personally like their army stew quite a bit – the broth, the noodles, the luncheon meat, the toppoki all hit the spot for me (in fact I really like the texture of their toppoki). There were some other dishes that didn’t quite meet our expectations but they weren’t terrible either. So definitely wouldn’t mind coming back for more.

For this price point, I would expect better quality of food. Ordered via grab food 3 mains (pork and squid bulgogi, pork bulgogi and seafood ramyeon), 1 steam egg and 1 seafood pancake. They only provided a tiny portion of kimchi (which was more spring onion than cabbage kimchi). The bulgogi are spammed with veg to make up the portion of meat it was hard to find the pork or squid, the steam egg is too salty.

I have been coming here for the past few years! Loved the owner and how she has turned this little Korean restaurant business into a well loved brand within the heartland of Kovan. The food is delicious. Beef Stew, Army stew, BBQ Beef Short ribs, the appetisers are free and KIMCHI tastes awesome. Thank you Aunty for this Korean restaurant! They are currently running the lunch promotion from 11 am to 3 pm mon- Friday. Costs $10-13 per dish and it comes with white rice. Head down quickly. But please be prepared to queue up.

Expensive for its taste to be honest. The food is pretty decent, dont get me wrong, but everyone ordering a bbq set each and some soup for sharing adds up to about $40 per person. The bbq meats are nice but do not match the price IMHO.

They are pretty short of staff as there is a crowd when we first arrived. So we got to wait a about 10 to 15 mins to take our orders. But the crew who attended to us is pretty good in his service. He try his best to intro the menu and recommend some of the food to go with. It will be better if we are able to bbq our own so that the meat will be hot and nice. But overall, it was great as my kod love the marbled beef.

Food standard has deteriorated from my last visit about 1 year ago. The BBQ items used to cook right infront of us but this time round they cooked the BBQ items inside the kitchen and served it to us. The BBQ items came burnt which we only came to realize after we flip it over. Beef Bulgogi and pancake was normal. They do not serve free water considering been charged service fee + gst. Price is slightly on higher range. Unlikely to patronise again.

    Ate during weekend lunch;

There isn’t any deals for weekends, so it was all ala carte dishes, and they were all really good.

The seafood pancake is thick and filled with many ingredients, and also the Bulgogi Beef was really good as well.

The spicy tofu soup and the soy bean soup are both worth the try as well!

Buckwheat cold noodle is properly cold with ice cubes to maintain the temperature of the cold soup

Free barley tea as well, refillable

All in all 4/5 for dining experience and 3.5/5 for price. (Disclaimer: subjective per person)

Price wise it’s about Obba Jjajjang’s level, but the quality of the food is below average for the price.
Items ordered: Beef Kimchi Fried Rice, Soondubu Jiggae
Just save yourself the pain and eat at obba instead. The service and food there is great and you get free ice cream after the meal too.

The beef short rib soup is marvellous and the meat is tender. The kimchi pancake is decent and also the Korean Jajangmyeon.

The sauce of the Jajangmyeon is not starchy as some other places. So you won’t be too jelat. However there are no ingredients in it so do order other side dishes to go along.

The restaurant serves very good Korean food. They cook the meat for you in front of you. They recently added a set menu prices range form $80+ to $110+ in which is good for those who want to eat other dishes other than the bbq meat but not so much for those who come mainly to eat the BBQ meat. The portion sizes for other dishes have decreased over the years. The side dishes and lettuce is refillable, just ask the staff to top it up. One of the newer severs forget to serve one portion of meat (my family ordered three portions), luckily one of the older staff noticed and rectified the mistake.

Most of the dishes here are really good: kimchi stew, all the bulgogi dishes, the rice cakes … All really flavourful! The side dishes are OK, not mind-blowing or anything but substantial.

Wish I could say everything is amazing but some of the dishes aren’t so great: the kimchi pancake is so-so, very floury, the saba fish is always quite overcooked, so it really depends on what you order.

It’s a bit pricey for “heartlands” standard, but they prolly have to cover rent as it’s an air-conditioned restaurant in Heartland Mall. Service is really fast! They are always packed so they may overlook you, you’d have to be quite pro-active.
