I was wanting for the longest time to buy a yellow sapphire gemstone and set into a gents ring for myself. Tried looking at so many places for a good quality unheated yellow sapphire but mostly unsuccessful in color, some being heat treated , no availability.

Cheryl and Clarence’s warm hospitality resulted to many more appointments with these lovely couple. Our first encounter with them was enjoyable, comfortable and informative. They are patient in helping us find out what we want for our jewellery and explaining what seems like a complicated process turning it to an enjoyable and fuss-free process for us by sharing with us what entails in the journey of customising jewellery.
They are attentive in listening to our like and dislike , helping us narrowing down what we sparks joy for us. They are able to provide us with a selection of choices despite us working with a tight budget. For instance, Cheryl took us out of the office to show us the gemstone under different light settings (natural lighting, fluorescent) which speaks alot about her professionalism and genuine in looking after her client’s best interest even though we have not confirmed engaging their service. We then begin to work with these sweet couple and the whole experience was an amazing one. We are grateful that we worked with them for our bespoke jewellery. Cheryl and Clarence were very patient and friendly towards us right from the start, from sourcing for my desired stone, to the design and answering my queries regarding my ring. Most importantly, they were not pushy, which is very much appreciated as this was a huge purchase to us. Even when we dropped by unannounced, they were ever so welcoming and always have a smile ready for us. We approached Gioia looking for a pink sapphire engagement ring. We Googled the basics, but didn’t know much beyond that. Clarence and Cheryl took the time to sit down with us (over numerous sessions) to show us their collection and explain everything we needed to know.
When we decided on a stone, they were very patient with the design process, taking the effort to understand what we wanted as well as provide us with practical tips. They were never pushy, always accessible, and very accommodating. They certainly were willing to go above and beyond to meet our needs.
After we had finalised the designs (1 engagement, 2 wedding bands), they provided us with frequent updates on the progress of the ring after we had finalised the design. Despite the Covid-19 situation, the process was still smooth, and the quality of the rings was stellar!

I think what really made Cheryl and Clarence outstanding among the jewellers whom I have spoken to is that they are with you at every stage – the selection of gem and ring setting, design and constant update on the casting process. And they did so while putting you at ease, without being pushy or attempt to persuade you to go beyond your budget.
Both of them were extremely patient in guiding me in the selection of gems (read: crash course on what to look out for in different precious stones). Gioia does have a varied collection of gems, so you would probably be spoilt for choices. Most importantly, Cheryl’s brilliant gift in the art and design of rings, was extremely helpful for me who knew nothing about design and yet wanted a ring of timeless elegance. And I must say that my fiancee and myself are pleased with the final product – a sapphire eternity ring set in rose gold.

The story started with a need to customise a wedding band that will blend in to my existing ruby ring (which had a thin band and odd shape side designs). Frankly speaking, my requirements of the wedding band, ie the band must look like a single ring, gels in well with the odd angles and yet remains a ring with thin band were quite impossible to achieve. I nearly wanted to just buy a random wedding band with eternity or just some diamond. But thanks to Cheryl and Clarence, who were very patient in listening to the design requirements and gave us expert advice in the design, and today, we have our very own bespoke wedding rings!

I met Cheryl a few months ago to design and create my wedding engagement ring. She was very patient throughout the process, and was very detailed in explaining the different gemstones and ring settings to me. As someone totally clueless around designing a ring, I really appreciated her taking the time to do so, and making sure that I chose something that was a perfect fit. She even brought me down to the area outside International Plaza to show me how the gemstones I was considering would look like in the daylight vs indoors (and I think she did it 4 times!). After placing the order, she also kept me updated throughout, showing me progress pictures (gemstone appraisal, sketch of the design, 3d rendering etc). Even after we collected the ring, she still followed up a few times to make sure everything is fine. I felt very engaged throughout, and my fiance was very happy with the ring. Clarence was accommodating, patient and responsive to my texts (even after closing the sale) I really wouldn’t know what else you could ask for. One thing I would like to critique (and the reason why this isn’t straight up a five star review) is the box the ring came in – it’s frankly lacklustre in comparison to its contents. Unfortunately we live in a very first impression heavy society and even the packaging the ring comes in should be given attention to (see Cartier). I would recommend if costs is the issue to provide the option to upgrade the box (personally not the richest of folks but wouldn’t have mind paying an extra $50-100 for a box to store this potential heirloom in. Thanks a lot guys.

I’ve always thought that customizing an engagement ring will be very pricey and a super complicated process, but Clarence and Cheryl made it super easy for us as they are very helpful and knowledgeable. You can not only pick from the styles of the rings they have done, but also provide reference pictures you have to show them what you have in mind. They will advice accordingly and no detail is too small for them.

Walking into GIOIA, I THOUGHT I knew what I wanted; an aquamarine ring. I told Clarence what ideas I had and he brought out a couple of different gems for me to have a look. I must have tried on a million different stones in various shades of blue/grey. I was undecided and I couldn’t make a decision, so I decided to come back another day.
On the second visit, I again tried on all the stones before eventually narrowing it down to one. After going home, however, I decided i wanted my gem to “sparkle” even more, and so I would have preferred a cut that could make it stand out more. I immediately texted Clarence to inform him of my decision, and subsequently went down again to choose a new gem.
FINALLY I DECIDED ON THIS GEM (natural grey spinel – love how the colour sorta changes in different light environments), and tried to describe to Clarence the design I had in mind. I was subsequently provided with 3 hand drawn sketches of my ring (cheryl is an amazingggggggg artist), all 3 were perfect depictions of what I had in mind. Unfortunately I could only pick 1.
Upon deciding on the design, the whole process of creating my ring and updating me on the progress was very well handled and thorough. GIOIA sends out the gem to a 3rd party authenticator to get it certified, subsequently, they provide a 3D computer graphic rendering of the ring so that you can make changes if you decide you don’t like what you envisioned. This all happened within 2 months by the way, from the initial choosing of the gem to actual receipt of the ring.
I’m someone who doesn’t really wear any jewellery, I don’t even have earrings. But I think I must say that I’m a convert now. I’ve told Clarence that I’m probably addicted to GIOIA’s jewellery, and i will be contacting him for the customisation of my wedding bands real soon.

upon a successful proposal of the ring, i asked if Cheryl could send me some photos that she might have taken of the ring. Without any hesitation, she complied with the request and sent me eventually (normally, some places may charge for the photos i guess?).

Had an amazing experience buying my sapphire engagement ring from Gioia. Thank you Cheryl and Clarence for being super accommodating and patient. When I first came in, Clarence showed me all the different gems that they have and the difference between each of them. Though I had a rough idea of what design I want, I only gave vague descriptions to Cheryl – clean, everyday-wearable and the gem shouldn’t be too attention seeking. Cheryl showed me many different designs and suggestions and worked with me to refine the ideas. I am super indecisive and am grateful that Cheryl and Clarence are both super patient folks. There was no hard sell or sales pressure at all. Both of them are super sincere in trying to help me choose the best possible gem and making sure I am satisfied with my purchase. In fact, I visited their store 5 or 6 times, because I had a hard time choosing a sapphire gem with the color and quality that I liked, but Cheryl and Clarence sent me lots of pictures over whatsapp to help me out. I finally settled on a padparadscha sapphire that caught my eye. I love that it is very easy to communicate with Cheryl and Clarence, and that they are honest people who are also patient and do not pressure you into buying and genuinely want to help. Custom-made our 20-yrs anniversary rings with Gioia. Found them online while searching for a Sapphire gemstone design. They were patient in getting the design right according to our idea. Both rings incorporated diamonds extracted from my old ring and both rings turned out perfect. Better than what we’ve expected. Do cater sufficient time allowance from design to completion. Ours took 2.5 months. It’s definitedly worth the experience n wait.
Got my proposal ring from GIOIA and my fiancee really like the ring. The service there is superb, they showed us all the different gems and sizes before we made the selection. They were quick on their replies and I would recommend this shop to anyone looking for a proposal ring!
I had originally just popped in with no particular plan to get a custom made engagement ring but I was bowled over by Clarence and Cheryl’s professionalism, knowledge and patience. They explained everything from start to finish about choosing the right diamond and ring design, then left me without any pressure to look around and check prices elsewhere before I decide.
When I did decide to go with them I was stuck for time, but they managed to push through my ring on tight deadline and delivered as promised (actually, a couple of days early). Ring looked amazing of course, and they were just as quick and courteous when it came to the resize – which they did for free.
My Tip: Go and speak to these guys first and get all your information and prices in a no pressure environment. Reading endless information on the internet is no replacement for speaking to actual professionals. Then make an informed choice.

You can really tell that the couple who owns this place really put their hearts and souls into running this business and try really hard, which explains the majority of 5-star reviews. The only reason why I am giving them a 3 instead of 5 stars is because my friend and I found the space rather squishy and not very comfortable. The experience (apart from their enthusiasm and excellent attitude) was lack luster and not what I would describe as lux nor memorable. Their prices are mid-range like their jewellery and stones which I suppose you do get what you pay for so one cannot complain. Unless you request for the higher quality which they can then source for you, but for me the overall experience matters and so just being as honest as I can!

Service at Gioia was amazing. They respond to messages on IG, WhatsApp and website fast. I chose Gioia cause I realise they do have more spinels compared to other places. I knew I wanted a baguette shaped spinel as one of the stones on my ring as well as a teal coloured one but wasn’t sure exactly about the design. Clarence could come up with a design in less than 5 minutes and it was just what I love. Will definitely come back for other pieces in future.

Both Cheryl and Clarence provide good service everytime we went. Cheryl is very skilled in her work of designing and also there’s a 3D model after you let them know the customised design which makes it easier to envision the final product. I was looking for gemstone as my proposal ring when I chanced upon GIOIA. At their website, Cheryl was quick to respond to my queries via the live chat window. When I went down to international plaza, conveniently located in the heart of cbd, to get to know more about the gem I wanted to get, Clarence was extremely patient in showing me the different gems he has to offer. Not only was he patient , he was humble, knowledgeable and sincere and most importantly not pushy for sales. He understands the difficulties that we may face while choosing for a gem and will give us different options to accommodate to the customers needs. His passion and knowledge for the gemstones is like a triple science student’s passion for their chemistry back in secondary school days, so willing to share and more than happy to help you out.
After selecting the gemstone, it was time to design the setting of the ring. Cheryl was very patient, understands the design that we were lookong dor and very accommodating. She was extremely detailed and would keep us in the loop of the progress of the design of the ring.

This entire journey started when I wanted a customised engagement ring for my proposal. My questions were readily answered throughout the process. From the initial introduction to the world of jewellery, to acquiring the gemstone and finally seeing the ring with my own eyes, the entire journey was fuss-free and professionally handled.
After much exploration and discovery, I eventually settled on a Paraiba gemstone which to me was an amazing choice given it’s brilliance and rarity.

After visiting a few jewelers, we were almost resigned to not being able to find a blue sapphire with the hue and clarity that we like until we discovered Gioia. Their selection easily tops the rest we’ve seen – combined. They also executed our custom design exactly as we envisioned it. The whole process was a pleasant and stress-free experience.

1) They’re efficient in their service – I received consistent and timely updates on my purchase and all my queries were answered promptly and politely. They really do their best to make sure that as their customer, you are 100% satisfied with what you get. I also have to add that the finished product was WAY better than what I ever envisioned in the first place, their craftsmanship is great.
2) They’re very patient and knowledgeable – I had visited their shop quite a few times to enquire about various gemstones, jewellery settings and price quotations alongside many other gem stores, before eventually settling for GIOIA as THE shop that I had full trust in making my purchase from to custom-make my engagement ring. Each time I visited, both Cheryl and Clarence were very accommodating and not once did they try to hardsell me into buying from them.
Through these conversations, it became evident to me that they were very knowledgeable about their craft, and more importantly, they were passionate about what they do too and not just simply profit-driven – traits which to me were very important for any good jeweller to have.
3) They’re honest and reliable – I’m really glad that I trusted and listened to Cheryl’s recommendations. She’s a great designer and is able to translate what you have in mind to reality with ease. Her advice also helped to make my ring much prettier than I’d initially imagined it to be – clearly explaining how my requests would affect the ring in terms of proportion and aesthetics, and using her years of experience to provide useful suggestions, so that I would be 100% happy and clear about the finished product. I was really thankful for her input and advice given.
4) Their prices are fair and competitive – I had cross-checked and recced through quite a few shops (both online and in-stores) with regards to the prices of the gemstone and jewelry setting that I had in mind prior to visiting GIOIA, and I found GIOIA’s price quotes to be fair and value-for-money, considering that they also provide value-added services that are hard-to-get in other stores such as 3D modelling (so you can view what your finished product will look like realistically) and photoshoots of your finished product, not to mention, excellent customer-service and quality in their products.
I’m leaving this review here in the hopes that it will be helpful to future customers who are looking to custom-make their perfect jewellery piece, just as I had found many reviews left by other customers very useful and helpful when I had first started sourcing for shops to craft my engagement ring, and I’m really thankful I came across GIOIA in my search. I’m glad that I chose to focus on quality rather than shell out extra money just for branding – you really get high quality gemstones and products here – much better than those seen in commercial retail stores.
(Although I already had my own gemstone – a vivid yellow sapphire – and simply needed to custom-make its setting, I would have definitely gotten my gemstone from them otherwise, based on the gemstone samples that Clarence had shown me. The Cornflower blue and Padparadscha sapphires I saw were beautiful, with great cutting and clarity. Some of their gemstones also come with certification from internationally-acclaimed labs such as GIA so do ask.)
Will definitely be looking to GIOIA for my future jewellery needs!

Got my engagement ring from Gioia, and the staff were very friendly and knowledgeable, and helped to come up with a unique personalized design that was both meaningful and elegant. Proposal ring for my Fiancée was well done as seen from pic. It carries my concept of design but it’s only made possible with Cheryl’s and Clarence’s professional advice. We went back to do our wedding bands due to the good price, quality and nice design. Service rendered was of highest quality and good engagement with customer by both Clarence and Cheryl. Customer journey with Gioia was exemplary. They even fulfilled our specific request of photo taking of our rings.
