In a room with a window but nailed down, the smell of moisture will wake you up in the middle of the night, and you will be unbearable if you take a big breath. It’s the same when you change the room, even the aisle has a strong smell; and the lighting in the room is still dark.

Very bad management team
Our room was very horrible. Electricity circuit breaker keeps on shutting down everytime we take a bath. Maintenance lady keeps on blaming us that we were putting the keycard on the wall slot thats why the electricity trips. AC doesnt get cold and water keeps on dripping. Room smells like molds, very musty. Carpet was so sticky. Small Refrigerator with marks of drinks from previous guest. Hair dryer doesnt turn on. One star for the good location. Receptionists were nice. But maintenance auntie has temper issues.

Location is near MRT. Mall close,good food close7 eleven across street. An update on the furniture and common facilities would be nice. I couldn’t get hot water to work in shower, aparently you had flick a switch on and wait for it to warm up over 20mins.

Awful rooms, small, dated and in need of renovation. Hands down the worst hotel room I’ve ever stayed in. Windows are shut tight so there’s no ventilation it gets really hot and stuffy, turn the AC on and the room gets too cold after about 3 mins, can’t change the temp of the AC cause it’s busted. Worst of all there’s no hot running water, showers are a nightmare.

Have stayed twice at Four Chain View now.
Booked in Geylang because I was arriving in Singapore after midnight and wanted to be somewhere I could still grab a decent meal.
Was able to check in at 1am with no problems. Friendly check in staff. Rooms are old and basic but adequate. Smells a little musty. When you’re in the hallways you can hear some “noises” coming from some of the other rooms, but once you’re in your own room it is silent as anything.
Located a 2minute walk from Paya Lebar MTR, 10min walk from Geylang Serai Market. Great food at arms reach. 7-11 across the road.
Perfect for what I needed, just a place to shower and rest my head at night.

Receptionist wasn’t nice, the place was creepy, exposed wires next to hot water kettle, bed was on wheels, no blanket only bed sheet as cover, aircon doesn’t work – cold for 30 minutes then hot for another 30 with the remote stuck to the wall at waist level, tv is a computer screen that doesn’t turn on and the remote is broken, phone doesn’t work either and you will get a checkout call where the lady will try to bang the door and come in. You get budget if you pay for budget but this isn’t worth the budget. Try hotel 81 instead.
I like the location of the hotel. Highly accessible via public transportation. Pretty good for a little nap and a pretty good nights sleep. The hotel staff is helpful to enquire the tourist information. Plenty of places to eat up and down the street, but they close pretty early.

The hotel was a big disappointment. The room was a little run down. The room is generally very worn. The prices are really on the high side. Had to wait on line to register. The hotel is very well located for an overnight stay. MRT station paya lebar is close by.

Lights broken in the room. Switches falling apart. And amazingly slow wifi of 1.26mbps. Couldnt even load e-mails. Too expensive for what it is. There are budget hotels nearby cheaper and better. Totally regret choosing this.

My home away from home for almost twenty years while working in Southeast Asia. Safe, reliable and quiet. Security is good, the small elevator works and is maintained well. Old style British feeling with fine woodworking throughout. Beautiful foriere with some classic paintings. Mind you the rooms are small, the place is very old and the sheets are not the finest Egyptian cotton. I even had a decent bicycle parked there for quite a while. I can remember so vividly my flight arrival at Changi, racing through immigration, then trying to decide which way was faster, the lift or the stairs to try and catch that last train down to Paya Lebar Station to the 4 Chain View. But I always got there. And across the street at the hawker stall open as late as you were and the stainless steel trays full of great cheap food were always a treat and there was a nice chair and an ice cold Tiger Beer. The place has seen it all, and of course things change. Peggy the back manager was always helpful to get me a room no matter what. It makes me sad to think that I may never do that routine again. Anyways a great location and so reliable. Cheers
OK for the price category. No better or bad than the 81 or Fragrance Hotels.
There is an extra switch for hot water. If you overlook it, you will have a cold shower like me the first time.
There is a bus stop across the street and the MRT station is barely 5 minutes away. A good hawker center (Haig Road Market) is about 700 m away on the right-hand side of Changi Road. There are no comparably good ones on Geylang Road.

Eine Bushaltestelle gibt es schräg gegenüber und die MRT-Station ist kaum 5 Minuten entfernt. Ein gutes Hawkercenter (Haig Road Market) ist ca. 700 m entfernt auf der rechten Seite der Changi Road. In der Geylang Road gibt es keine vergleibar guten.

Budget hotel, near to public access, mall and mosque. But not for the bed, need to be cleaned.
Food and shopping are just walking distance. The front desk reception wasn’t overly friendly. The facility is old. Who would want to steal their dirty pathetic card key. The noise level is beyond ridiculous. The hotel hallway is a bit creepy at night but it is just something that I like.

About a 5-minute walk from MRT Paya Lebar Station, which was very crowded even though it was in the suburbs. Everything about the hotel is old fashioned, but for short stays it’s fine.

I guess it’s a sentimental favorite. Stayed there multiple times years ago, and am pleased to see it’s in a bit (just a bit) better repair than it was; evidence of new carpet and new paint. If you don’t understand that this is a very, very cheap budget hotel in a fascinating, low-budget neighborhood, you’re going to be unhappy. Yes, the furniture is ancient. Yes, you might see a few cracked tiles or a chipped mirror (the horror!), and the rooms are small. But it’s clean enough and surprisingly quiet, the guests are benign, there’s a refrigerator in each room, and the location is fantastically convenient. I love that the windows look out over a fairly green, inviting suburban lane and a girls’ school. And you can’t beat the food in this neighborhood at all hours of the day and night. In my opinion, this place is great value for money.

The services provided according to the prices are quite good. I stayed in a hotel on Orchard Road earlier, and the room there was smaller. Here the rooms are spacious, and they provide all basic facilities. It’s recommended to stay here if you are not going to spend much time in the room. If you want to go for a stay staycation, go for a 3-star ir 5-star hotel.

You can find a private hostel room just as good for the same price. The room itself was hotel standard clean. There are always people to help you in the hotel. A large number of restaurants is within walking distance. Walking distance from Paya Lebar MRT station and some buses plying to different areas Cheers.
Very very strategic location. On the main road to Geylang, right and left and behind the hotel there is a bus stop, the nearest one across is about 200 meters. The nearest MRT is Paya Lebar. Opposite the MRT there is a mall, you can look for halal food at the mall or 7 eleven opposite the hotel. Or it could be 15 minutes to Bugis, get off the road stop a few meters and have arrived at Warung Hj. Maimunah, the famous one. If from Changi, take Bus No. 24 and get off at Paya Lebar bus stop, more practical than the MRT. The actual condition of the hotel room is OK if just to sleep. Old hotel with a bit expensive price. There are elevator facilities and a 24-hour receptionist. Service is not bad.

There are multiple choices in the price bracket which I booked through Agoda. Without being in a hostel this is the next step up. Set in a part of town up off the East Coast Road the hotel is set in a cute shuttered building which was part of ‘Old Singapore’ where locals hang out, where the restaurants and all services nearby make you think you are in Singapore before it all went high rise and well, just like any large city.
If this is the kind of place that you like to stay, then this moderately priced hotel will fit the bill. It is 10 mins to central city by train (station 150m away) and 20 mins by train to the airport. And you can still do Orchard Road, Little India, Marina Sands from this base. Yes it is busy; yes it can be noisy; yes there may be imperfections from acceptable to gross – it comes with the territory.

Basic and affordable hotel. What is a 1 star hotel for them is like a 3 star for us. It was neat and the staff are very helpful. However, rooms tend to be dusty as there is no proper ventilation. Windows are locked close. My allergies keep on occurring every time I get in the rooom.

Checked in for my prepaid room by an unfriendly indifferent pinoy guy at the counter. Then he demanded a $10 cash “deposit” for the key card without issuing a receipt. Room was small, old, noisy, no fridge, no drinking water nor security safe. Checked out next day for my flight and upon returning the key to the counter the same guy did not even bother to acknowledge nor return my cash deposit. As I was rushing for my flight I did not pursue. I kinda felt it was intended as a “non refund” when no receipt was issued when I was made to pay the “extra” cost the day before. Truly unprofessional shady horrid experience.
No spoon to make coffee, not even a bottle of mineral water, no bidet spray & hand wipes in toilet. To make things worse no WiFi, can’t turn the TV on, when finally switched ON only 2 channels available. Will be my first & definitely my last stay at this hotel.

Wi-Fi strange. Very very slow on both my mobile phones. On laptop some sites are fast but others won’t work at all. Impossible to work on laptop at desk as seats are too low.
