清香馆 – A casual restaurant with good variety of alcohol, located near NUS. The ambience is relaxing. Went there for lunch on a weekday. Ordered their recommended dish – Homemade noodle (手工面) and an iced coffee. The noodle is really tasty and chewy, the broth with seafood and minced pork is delicious. I like the blended iced coffee too. The meal cost $20 inclusive GST and service charge. It is not cheap, however, both the food quality and ambience are good.
There are wide variety of dishes on the menu, I would love to visit again.

Come here often for lunch as it is near my office. Gets crowded during lunch hours.
The lunch deals are very worthy. And the portions are huge.

Ideal to come in groups as their servings are very generous.ill usually order the braised pork noodles and a pan fried dumplings add on.

Best to eat the dumplings when it’s hot, if not the skin will become chewy when it’s cold.

Air conditioned, Large portions, great variety of food and drinks options.

The default answer when no one knows what to order. Formosa Delights have large portions and the food is consistently amazing. Favorites include the eggplant and hand shaven noodles with seafood. Plan on sharing the noodles.

Huge portions and delicious food. Value for money. Great customer service as well- waitress took the initiative to let us know we might have ordered too much, and suggested that we drop one main course from our order. Thankfully we did so, as we struggled to finish even the rest. Will be coming back again for the good food, reasonable price and service

The tomato noodles was fantastic. We added a dollar to change it to the sliced noodles. The la zi ji was above average. More chunky than usual. Not so spicy but still numbing. The other dishes were average. The place can get quite noisy so we didn’t stay long after the meal.

Have been coming here often and we know there is lots of MSG and we usually asked to have no added MSG and they are great with our request so far. However, this time although the waitress took our request and also repeated it to confirm, to our horror the dishes came with A LOT more MSG than when we didnt ask to omit it. The fried la zi chicken was fully rolled in grains of MSG (some have at least 10 grains of MSG on 1 piece of popcorn chicken size). It happened b4 that chef may have forgotten to acede to our request and it was ok but this time it is as if chef has intentionally double dosed the MSG. It taste very awful and i felt sick after getting home from the overdose of MSG.

Nice food. The house special mala mutton skewers and mala fish pot are really good. However the egg fried rice is definitely overpriced as there is only egg with no other ingredients, priced at $8+. The noodles is ok. Service is friendly and good. They free one small serving of fried brocoli. Overall recommended and will go back again..

Service was fast too, very little waiting time, and ice water was a better. Choice compared to the other drink options. I was told that the jug of tea was not worth it. It’s almost tasteless! Favourite restaurant close to home. Decor is modern, the tables are always well cleaned. Service was great from the start and they treat the regulars extremely well. Most importantly the food is consistently delicious. The menu is huge and there are lots of options for spicy, non-spicy, vegetarian or meat dishes. We love their spring onion pancake, fish in mala sauce (spicy), dumplings, noodles, and all their veggies. They also work around my food restrictions (shellfish and oyster sauce allergies). Finally, they are also one of the few places to serve beer and gin cocktails in the area so that makes them even more popular. Gets busy for dinner nowadays but the wait is usually not too long.

Food is of mixed quality. We ordered both Taiwanese and Sichuan. The lu rou fan (braised pork with rice) set was excellent and authentic in flavour. As was the Sichuan beef slices. But the other dishes were a bit of a let down. La zi ji (chilli chicken) was quite different from our favourite Chongqing Grilled Fish restaurant. The braised pork belly with mustard leaf was way too salty. And “saliva chicken” (kou shui ji) meat was tough. Service staff were very polite… overall, maybe good for Taiwanese but Sichuan has room to improve.

Word of caution – their serving sizes are HUGE! We ordered 2 mains and 2 sides for 2 pax and we really struggled, haha. The menu is also incredibly extensive with lots of options.

We had the temple noodles with fried chicken set and the fried chicken was crispy and moist, definitely living up to the reputation of Taiwanese fried chicken. The noodles, however, were a letdown as they were clumpy and over cooked. The sauce was delicious though!

The braised meat rice (Lu rou fan) was absolutely spot on comfort food – flavourful and filling. Definitely a must have! But 1 bowl can easily feed 2 pax haha

The dumplings and scallion pancakes were also delightful, especially the scallion pancakes (葱油饼). So so crispy on the outside but fluffy on the inside. Dipped in the special chilli sauce they served together, this was truly a work of art.

    Would recommend and return!

If you’re looking for a place to enjoy Taiwanese food, this is the place. Personally, I’d recommend the braised pork rice (滷肉饭). The ratio of meat ti rice is extremely satisfying and blends together to yield a dish that gets better along the course of eating it. If you’re Asian and love a good rice-based dish, you know exactly what I’m talking about. You wouldn’t want to give it a miss.

    Wonderful time here.

Pork with garlic marinate, was to-the-teeth kind of texture, not soaked in oil, and had a clean taste – not reeking in ‘pork’ smells.

Formosa handmade were rather subtle in flavour profile. Not overly seasoned, soup was sweet and had a nice umami aroma to it. Noodles were al dente, and ingredients had a great time to shine – loved the pork meatballs! Worth noting: the portion is HUMONGOUS…

Man tou: pretty good, I find the dough texture and feel to be a bit more on the finer side once it is in your mouth.

Knife shaven noodles were average and on the saltier side. Weak dish compared to the standard set by other dishes.

Great service as well. Place can get quite busy at peak hours.

Firstly the portion of the food is huge. The mala beef noodle can be shared between 2 persons. The spicy chicken can be shared between 2-3 persons. Secondly on the taste, thee spring onion pancakes were awesome. The Lu Rou Fan was average. The La Zhi Ji lacks the punch in terms of spiciness and numbness and you can see that they weren’t cooked/fried thoroughly as some parts lack the seasonings. The mala beef noodle was not too bad though I wished it could be more spicy. What I was a little disappointed with was the consistency and speed of dishes served. It seems like the kitchen cooks similar dishes in batches instead of cooking based on order received. You will see that same dishes will be delivered to multiple tables at the same time. As for our order, the first one Lu Rou Fan came almost immediately after we ordered, the last one which was the mala noodle came 45 minutes after. And unfortunately, most of the food came lukewarm instead of piping hot.

Ordered: 小龙包,水饺,bowl of Noodle, plate of vegetables, spicy chicken & 2 ice blended fruit juice.

Note: The ***spicy*** chicken serving is really huge…Didn’t know prior. (Serving size is approximately 4 to 5 pax. They don’t have smaller size). End up having to packet the remaining.

Nice food & ambience. Try to avoid peak hours or come slightly earlier to avoid crowds. No booking required and no dress code.

Great food and service, I have frequented this establishment for several years. A popular hangout spot for NUS students and staff. Go before 7pm for happy hour at attractive prices. Also, there’s usually a queue. The portion of the 辣子鸡 is huge. Not pictured, I recommend the mushroom hot plate, the beef hot plate, the pork in garlic oil cold dish. They also have a good but slightly price 麻辣香锅.

The food and price is all good.
But I am dissatisfied with the service. My friend brought in a drink with her and we ordered food. When asking one waitress if she can bring some water for us, she said the following :” 你带了饮料进来我不会帮你倒水,我这次帮你倒,下次记住别带了.”
You could have politely ask me to keep my drink as you don’t allow outside drink. It’s perfectly understandable. But the waitress put it in a way that’s very condescending and offending like we did something extremely wrong.

Don’t think the service is worth my service fee

High priced but very delicious chinese/taiwanese delicacies – List of Must Orders, you will see every order this on their tables – laziji 辣子鸡! goes very well with beer. it’s probably one of their best dishes along side others like 卤肉饭, their aircon is quite cold though, feels super freezing on a rainy day. I feel it is quite overpriced, 2pax easy $40+, I usually go with 4-5 pax, easy $90-$120. If it’s not a main concern, then it’s definitely a good place to frequent for the good food and variety

I did advance ordering of about 2hrs via Oddle. Food was not bad, serving was big. But two things need to be improved on: (1) Professional and integrity – Restaurant called only when they started preparing order (not when they received it) to inform sweet potato crepe had sold out and offered to change to green onion crepe, without telling me that the latter was cheaper than the former. Upon discovery, I called back to ask about it, then they agree to Paynow me the price difference. One week later, nothing has been done despite me emailing them and giving feedback to Oddle. Perhaps they think that it’s such a small amount so they cannot be bothered, but this is a matter of business principle in my opinion.
    (2) Takeaway containers either need to be improved or perhaps rider needs to be more careful – relatively quite a bit of soup was spilled.

We’ve ordered more than twice now from this place (takeaway), and these are my impressions:

Hot food in bad plastic: if you care about plastic packaging touching hot food, note that the plastic packaging that the food comes in seems to be of the cheapest/lowest quality. And you can tell, because some of the lids of the boxes will come deformed. Warped. Looks like from high heat. Perhaps the food goes straight from fryer or pan right into the plastic. Their sweet and sour pork seems to consistently do this.

Fried rice? how about just rice? Forget about their fried rice (we’ve tried 2 types now). It looks (and tastes) like they just cheapen out on ingredients and barely give you anything. It is all rice, and no flavour as well.

Also, everything seems to be coated in massive amounts of oil.

The one saving dish from them is their deep fried chicken with dried chilli. It’s not too bad. And surprise, surprise, it comes in a PAPER BOX, and not one of their cheap plastic boxes!
