The place was nice and clean but experienced of buying food was really bad from the original sliced fish soup store. The lady who attended to me was fluent in her mandarin but with rude facial expressions she never had any eye contact throughout my 4 different orders of food. But the old lady which cleared our plates was friendly and chatty.

This is one of my favorite places to meet and hangout with my friends. This place has so many foods(local) or korean cuisine or Chinese cuisine similarities like Hawker centers but has aircon inside the mall. Price wise is affordable so don’t be scared to test it and mostly the food is yummy. Really recommended.

My favorite meal at this Food Republic @NEXshoppingMall is the Fortune Dim Sum stall offering a wide variety of buns, dumplings, century egg porridge and the Fish Noodle & Porridge Soup stall with a choice of deep fried fish or boiled fish. A rather disappointing Thye Hong fried Hokkien noodle and Char Kway Teow stall, where the noodles and Kway Teow are somewhat precooked and then refried whenever a customer orders a plate or two. I wonder whether the stall owner no longer takes pride in his old time popular hawker food or do not realized that his workers are taking shortcuts instead of serving delicious freshly cooked plate of noodles. . . that taste awful !!! Any foodie can tell the difference and avoid a revisit.

It is at B2 , NEX.As like other Food Republic’s Foodcourts, it has quite alot of different food selections. The place is spacious and clean.Business is good as is quite crowded at lunch and dinner times even on weekdays.
Weekends and Sundays are very crowded on both dining times. The prices are the usual air condition shopping mall foodcourt prices.Taste differs from each individual. Its up to diners to decide their foods and jugde the tastes themselves.

Dawood Prata Point inside Food Republic sells Mee Goreng at $4.50 but they will ask whether you want chicken or mutton. They will charge $2 for additional mutton. Their Teh Tarik was $1.60. Their Mee Goreng was soggy and disappointing. Not value for money. Quantity shown was not actual as my friend had transferred some from his plate before photo taking.

While the intent to expand from Jalan Besar is to be lauded, they have to be careful that it doesn’t dilute the quality that we have come to expect. The char siew bau was a disappointment as the richness is missing, the bun was dry. The Chee Cheong fun had no taste even with the soy sauce. The banana prawn fritter had very little banana and they used prawn paste instead of a whole prawn so the texture was not good.

There were many choices of good local food here, start fm dim sum, fish soup, roti prata, fried Hokkien Prawn noodle/fried kway teow, 刀削面, Roast duck & beverages etc…

Almost all the stalls were there for quite long, in other words, they were very competitive yet all stalls managed to sustain the business, at least no stall that quit after sometimes…

I had the fishball noodles earlier today at the Food Republic foodcourt in Nex.

The noodles tasted great thanks to the fried lard and sauce. Other than this, the noodles didn’t contain any other ingredients.

The fishballs were average at best.

Food court was recently renovated. Two new stalls were added, including Sembawang Claypot, which has become my fav for now. The dark sauce chicken claypot rice is cooked upon order and tastes really good. My only gripe is the chicken pieces. Portion was pretty good when the stall first opened. Yesterday, there were only 5 small pieces in my claypot, of which 2 were bones with no meat. The total amounted to less than 1 chicken wing chopped up. Very disappointing!

The drink stall needs a revamp to its operating procedure. Tried to order ice lemon or barley less sweet and was rejected. During a recent visit, I ordered ice teh O less sweet and was similarly rejected. The staff insisted on sellong only pre-made drinks from jugs. These drinks are way too sweet and a formula for diabetes. Food Republic operates many outlets across SG. It should be on boarded to the Health Promotion Board’s healthy lifestyle campaigns and offer customers a choice of homemade drinks with less sugar!

tbh the taste does not justify the price, i guess we too are paying for the comfortable chairs and ambience yeah :3, i can find much better food in the hawker centre, i guess that is because of the food hygine control that they have to follow to be able to get into this kind of ‘atas’ hawker centre?

Had eaten there for years….Don’t bother with the hokkien mee and the curry rice stall, there is a very good reason there is no people queuing there, the hokkien mee nothing special about it, the curry rice gives u children portion of servings and charges you premium pricing and also doesn’t taste nice at all, other stalls you can try

I went to dine yesterday. I bought dim sum at Sweehon but sadly the old lady pack it as dabao….I said I will dine in but she insisted to pack it. So I think sometimes the staff must be aware of what they are doing and listen carefully to what the costumers instruction to avoid conflict.

Rice Roll with Char Siew 叉烧肠粉 $4.30, is room temperature not piping hot nor hot!!! My expectation is hot but totally not hot at all and it even passed me a buzzer for the char siew chee cheong fan. Really not happy!!!

Expensive sweechoon dimsum. Best to eat at the original restaurant. Overhyped here!!

Also, they charge customers extra 30cents for a takeaway box but this wasn’t communicated in any signage. I ordered 4 char Siew sou and it was automatically put in a box without asking/communicating to me I will be charged for it. Abit shady practice ya Management should review and give customers the option to put in plastic bag
