HQ means Highest Quality. The food quality, service and ambiance is way way above other outlets. The toilet….if you can find is LQ.

Really a gem for the hungry and the chosey. There is something for every palate and craving here. Japanese, psuedo western andlocal coffee shop fares. And you don’t have to deal with parking woes and hordes throbbing a mall – even on a Friday night.

The best part is – you get the best customers service and food quality than any other of the Breadtalk Group’s outlets. Reason: The staffs are either the best or motivated and enthusiastic trainees.

The Toastbox section is really good. Service personnel cheerful and helpful. Even give recommendations to first timers.

Now if only all Breadtalks and Toastboxes can be like this …..

Formosa Delights sells many varieties of homemade noodles inside FoodRepublic. As recommended by Ride.Eat.Find on TV last night, we ate the Wholemeal tomato noodle soup $6.50 which is the healthier choice option (475 Calories). The dish has minced pork, tomatoes, vegetables, mushrooms, egg, ikan bilis, shallots and wholemeal noodles. The tomato soup was delicious and tasty. My friend’s noodles was fine but my wholemeal noodles were slightly soggy and lumped together. Otherwise will have higher rating. Staff was courteous. Portion was large for a filling lunch meal.

The food court is located inside the BreadTalk IHQ mall. It is quite spacious with plenty seating spaces — both indoor and outdoor.

It has quite a number of stalls. One of the more well known one is the First Street Teochew Fish Soup. The broth itself is the lighter style (no addition of milk) and the fish slices are quite generous and is very fresh (the slices are soft with no fishiness at all).

A nice place to go for lunch. Indoor and outdoor places to sit. Food there is good, fishball noodles, ban mian, chicken rice, sliced fish soup. Can get crowded so go earlier. And do clear your own plates and bowls after that as it can get overwhelming for the cleaners. There are trays that you can drop off conveniently situated throughout.

Bak Kut Teh is decently good and served in a clay pot. The sweetness of the soup overrides the herbal taste, perhaps too much rock sugar added. Reasonable amount of ingredients with 3 pieces of ribs, enoki mushroom, bean curd, slices pork, pig stomach beancurd skin and lettuce. Worth trying.

Tried First Street Teochew fish porridge at their IHQ outlet. Serving of the fish slices were adequate for the standard serving, and tasted fresh. Had super good Nasi Padang at the newly opened Sindo Padang store in Food Republic.

It’s right at the end of the row of shops in the food court. On display, a wide variety of food you can choose from, like a typical nasi Padang.

I had the Ayam Masak Merah (see photo) and added a begadil. The chicken was well cooked and tender, the sauce for the chicken – DELICIOUS! I’d prefer it just a tad thicker but that’s just me being nitpicky now. The condiments of beans, Ikan billis, tempeh, potato and Taupok was generous and complemented the chicken well.

And the chilli *chef’s kiss* beautiful. I’d highly recommend having all 3 types of chilli. Ask for more. It’s super good.

My friend had the gulai curry chicken. Flavor was good but I’d prefer a thicker sauce. So I prefer the taste and texture of the Ayam Masak Merah. Overall, a great place!

Be sure to queue though – the queue builds up quickly. But service is fast so it goes by quickly too.

    Highly recommend!

Food here is on the average to pricier side for food court food prices. As all food Republic outlets are like.

Some stalls here are more popular and tastier than others. I don’t really reccomend the wanton stall here. It isn’t good. The fishballl stall however seems to be really good. There is also a toastbox right next to this outlet where you can buy kaya and butter bread etc.

We had mala here. It differentiated itself from hawker’s version with its significantly less spicy for a medium heat, less sauce (actually no sauce left in the bowl when we finished) and importanly less less salty. It leaned more on curry side, no numbness a signature mala has. The price is quite steep, set us back 20 bucks for two, we could get more food with that price in a hawer. The ingredients are usual kinds, but unfortunately for us that day, the tofu was not fresh.

Coffee is quite good but not as good as the usual coffee we have tasted. Not sure if the coffee is poured by the usual coffee lady .
Bought the Chwee Kwei and surprisingly it is Kwai is good but the chai poh is totally dried without a single drop of oil and instead of the usual taste it tasted sweet. Quite a strange taste compared to the usual hawker’s taste. If you are looking for the usual Chwee Kwei than this is definitely not to your liking.

I like the ambience here. You have a choice of either sitting in an air-con space or al-fresco to enjoy your cup of tea or meal. My choice is al-fresco as the outdoor ceiling is extremely high. You get a lot of breeze and fresh air. There is a wash basin within the dining area so you do not have to head to the toilet if you need to wash your hands. There are many visible tray return stations making it convenient for the diners.
