Learning Dharma through your daily busy work schedule is part of a practitioner daily homework. FGS is one of the 300 plus temples round the world that Venerable Master Hsing Yun built up together with his devotees. All these 300 plus temple is everyone house because they come from everyone’s donation. Please pay a visit or at least a tribute to Buddha and Venerable Master Hsing Yun.

The Rendang Mutton Rice is flavourful and I like the fruits tea too.

Our second home
My sister had wedding in FGS so I got to know this place. While i’m not a Buddhist, i do feel the greatness from the people who worship or work in here. As i was told, FGS was originated from Taiwan, and as they expand in Singapore it became a higher class and modern one. Although it’s not a very old and traditional temple, it’s still on the top of Buddhist in Singapore.

Peaceful, serene, with modern architectural designs. Taiwanese style of Buddhism. The main entrance greets you with a giant, smiling Maitreya Buddha statue. Inside the hall, the white Sakyamuni Buddha statue sits in the centre surrounded by many emanations of Guanyin the Compassionate One.
There are variety of courses to choose from such as buddhist classes, yoga, calligraphy etc.
There is also a sutra-copying workshop to cultivate the mind. Library only opens in the weekends. A vegetarian restaurant is also available upstairs. Columbarian is at the highest level.

Fo Guang Shan is a great dojo in Singapore. There is a drip shop on the 3rd floor, with rice, noodles and drinks. Curry rice is worth a try. The main hall on the first floor is bright and clean. A great place to go to train your mind!

Vegetarian won ton noodle, vegetarian dumpling, aloe vera honey hot/cold, lime tea hot/cold, peanut beancurb, vegetarian ngoh hiang, and more
Price is like $4 for a glass of herbal tea or a pot of hot tea can share 2 person about $6.50 which allow you to refill water for your tea without charge. Dishes or a plate of meal is about $6-$8. The food overall is not too bad. Restaurant ambiance is cosy for 2-4 friends gathering is nice.
Nearby toilets are clean with signs at the sink to remind us to save water, thats very useful.
Menu may change – last time I had black bean milk drink. It was very nice but no more selling this round.

Amazing Buddhist temple in Singapore
The temple is unique compared with other traditional temples. It is worth a visit. On the 3rd floor, there is an eatery but unfortunately due to regulations, it cannot sell food to non-members since late 2022. Non-members can go with members to dine in. There is no more cash register. You “pay” but giving a donation.
Those who want to donate can go to the customer service counter on the second floor. As the temple relies on donations to operate, I think whoever can afford at whatever amount, donate lah.
I hope this year (2023), the annual Vesak Carnival which take place in front of the Punggol MRT Station can be resumed.

Nice modern temple, friendly staff and devotees, there’s a small cafe on the roof level that serves vegetarian and vegan dishes at very affordable prices. I was just there for the food.
Tomorrow is the first day of seventh month, so I went to Tea House of Fo Guang Shan to get some vegetarian take always. While waiting for my orders to be ready, I had lotus tea in the cafe. This place has aircon and prices are really reasonable. Is within walking distance from Punggol MRT.

This temple is modern and clean.Its exudes a calming atmosphere for those who seeks peaceful minds . Its cafe at level 3 do serves some delicious vegetarian food and learnt that most are volunteers . Kudos for the volunteers for the good food and services .

This is a vegetarian restaurant. The price is cheaper than in the city and the food is clean. I visited every day during my stay in Singapore. All the workers are volunteers.

I have visited Fo Guang Shan in Singapore to witness the localization of the Buddhist temple from Taiwan by Master Hsing Yun, as well as the integration of Taiwan Buddhism and Singapore Buddhism. Fo Guang Shan is one of “Four Heavenly Kings” in Taiwan (Tzu Chi, Chung Tai Shan and Dharma Drum Mountain) and its branches located throughout the world including the Fo Guang Shan in Malaysia. Fo Guang Shan in Singapore constitutes of main shrine, calligraphy hall, library, conference hall, tea house and columbarium. I saw the bulding design of Fo Guang Shan in Singapore adopt high-tech and Zen styles. The mission of this temple is to educating and cultivating the Buddhist society.
