Duck is delicious, service however is ??
One service staff allocated me to a table to sit while waiting for my duck to be packed.
10mins later, a service staff came to me and told me I had to move, reason being “有顾客来了”.
I thought, ok sure. However as i turned back, 3/4 of the place is empty, there was no one queuing either.

Ordered their Roasted Duck with Angelica Herb (Large) $37.67 via Foodpanda app for takeaway. It was good. Food wasn’t packed despite us being 15 mins late. Herb was packed separately. Pic shows herb yet to be poured in.

Favourite place for our “herbal duck” treats, especially since their recipe originated from the famed 鸭王 (Ya Wang) in JB

Besides that, they do serve a decent selection of other dishes, though not as widespread as other restaurants might do.

However, taste wise was great for each dish – couldn’t find any complaints so far as I recall in all my previous visits.

Food standard is there. Price and portions are reasonable as well, we ordered a la carte – $190 for 4 pax and we were super full. Regular set meal option was not available as it was Mother’s Day.

Service was terrible and there were a lot of houseflies! When we asked the staff if they could move us inside, they shrugged and said it’s the same inside. Found a dead housefly in one of the dishes.

They don’t take reservations so do come by early before peak hours.

Ordered the duck with dang gui and it was probably one of the best duck I’ve eaten even though I’m not a fan of Chinese medicine taste. The sauce was okay with a tack of sweetness and the meat was damn good and juicy and tender. Mongolian pork ribs tasted good except that it came in huge pieces which is hard to eat. Salted egg lotus roots was surprisingly nice. The only disappointing thing was the wheatgrass tofu which tasted kinda bland imo. Went around 6.15pm on a Sunday and didnt have to wait for a table. Queue for table picked up subsequently after 6.30pm so be prepared to queue if going at dinner hour.

Ordered my favourites – Mongolian ribs, salted egg fried lotus root with pumpkin and 十全 duck rice (Angelica root duck I think).

For some reason the shop forgot the duck and rice, hahas. But all is good. They made another trip to deliver to us when we called the outlet. Normally I would prefer a refund to avoid the hassle but we didn’t order a lot that day and would prefer to have the food.

The lotus root is still very crispy yum yum.

Back at Dian Xiao Er, dined in for 2 pax today.

Their style is somewhat like a Tze char style, with dishes not always commonly found at neighborhood Tze char stalls.

The portion is just right for 2: 1 bowl of rice, 1 small portion of 十全 duck and 1 small plate of salted egg pumpkin and lotus root

    Yummy lunch.

Dian Xiao Er serves very tasty Chinese Delicacies. They have private rooms that allows for gives a cosy gathering of family and friends.

Their duck has a herbal sauce that is nice and it’s smooth and juicy. The wheatgrass tofu is the first I have eaten and it’s soft and fresh. Tofu is served with prawns, pea, etc. The salted egg york is not too salty, century eggs with soft vegetables. Jasmine tea is refillable. Soup was nice with pepper and vinegar. Above dishes were ordered for 4 adults. Portions were just nice.

Waiting time was not too long despite having much crowd when we were there. Staff were fast to respond when we call for attention.

The toilet is just directly opposite Dian Xiao Er.

From B1 carpark come out straightaway is dian xiao er so it’s definitely a sure won’t miss chinese restaurant. Came here with fiancée and her sis, sis hubby and infant baby.

Personally tried dtf, pu tien, paradise group etc but first time trying dian xiao er. To my surprise, standard doesn’t drop others and now this has maybe increased my choice for chinese restaurant and probably go to choice..

Their golden double happiness (黄金双赢) basically salted egg lotus and other veggies is nice. Cod fish steamed is fresh. Lotus root soup is good. Duck and tofu is ok..

Ok lah 120 for 4 pax so around 30 per pax for 4 dishes + 1 soup + teas. Reasonable..

    Cheers happy new year 2022!

Duck is their BEST dish! Specially their skin, crispy and the herbal sauce make the dishes smell great. The only worry is the duck hair as you may see some white stuff poking out of the skin, it’s normal just remove it will do.

The wheatgrass tofu is very unique and show out Dian Xiao Er uniqueness. The combination of shrimp and broccoli and less sugar, it’s prefect.

I love Dian Xiao Er outlets because their cooking is the same, I never encounter “A” outlet different for “B” outlet. They take food quality and taste seriously.

My husband’s favorite is Dong Po Pork dish although this pork taste premium and does not have weird or heavy pig smell, the fats is what worry me most and I advice my hubby to cut down because recently one Taiwan actor (small black) died of 心血管疾病 Cardiovascular diseases, which is a result of oil clog blog blood vessel.

Nevertheless, having meal also must do exercise.

Kinda bummed that we came on a friday and there isnt a weekday set lunch. Ended up ordering the next best option which costs 2x the price and does not include the drinks too. Even though there are more dishes (but honestly, who will want to have drunkern chicken or fish maw soup for a normal lunch which would double their spend

Foods are all very good. But our order of char siew are delayed so much. Until we suspect it was served wrongly to other guest. The reason given was the char siew request to heat up.
